OBJECTION!

We need a few categories specialized to the N Cult such as Nintendo GOY, Non-Nintendo GOY, and Best New Game (not a remake or sequal)

BNG- The World Ends With You

xP If we were doing best game soundtrack, deBLOB would win it for me. Being able to shape the soundtrack to how you wanted it is an awesome concept.

I'd also like to nominate deBLOB for game of the year, because although Brawl is an awesome game, it's concepts were pretty much taken from Melee and build from there. deBLOB was a completely new concept and innovately used that Wii Remote controls to it's advantage. Some bad camera in places, but an all round excellent game. I'm still yet to try it's multiplayer though. ^^

Brawl wins. I haven't played Tales of Symphonia because I can't find the Gamecube one ANYWHERE, but I still can't picture anything beating SSBB. It's just the one Wii game that's basically impossible to get tired of.
EDIT: City Folk is also great, but Brawl beats it hands down.
TWEWY wasn't amazing, just good (I hate Square Enix's tendency to make games which are half cut scenes. I hate how at some points you are forced to re-watch the same one over and over, and you're not allowed to skip them. It got pretty tedious at parts, too.). However, I can't think of any other original/Non-Nintendo games that came out this year, though, and it is pretty unique, so...

My vote goes to Brawl, of course. Even though it's really similar to Melee, when you count the stage creator, the better single player campaign, and the online, it's enough of it's own game. I'd say for runner-up it'd have to be De Blob. And just since it hasn't been mentioned, I want to put Animal Crossing in the running.

Brawl was fun but I think since I was obsessed for it to come out I over estemated it and thought it was better than it was so Brawl is I say number 3 right now I have a slight addiction to Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility and Dokapon kingdom. They probably might go down on my list but this is what it is for now

TWEWT was decent at best. I would know, I bought and beat it.

But NINTENDO GAMEing-wise, Brawl.

I vote Smash Bros. Brawl as overall best Nintendo game of the year. Fun gameplay, the extras rule, it's never boring. Yay!

My current favorite is still Mario Galaxy.. but that didn't come out in 2008. smile
