I suspect that Mortal Kombat, the tournament, would be against Onaga... Then Earth would lose, because Onaga's forces would be much more organized and disciplined. More loyalty and less chaos.

They already have! Scorpion already knows that Quan chi killed his family, not sub zero. Unless you meant noob saibot which would be another story.

Then Quan Chi would probably go himself, which means that afterwards, Raiden would show up and have Quan Chi's a** handed to him.
Sub Zero and Scorpion would keep being rivals, but because Sub Zero didn't go to the temple of the elements, Shang Tsung wouldn't recognize his accomplishments and wouldn't invite him to Mortal Kombat. Therefore, there would be no Scorpion or Sub Zero.

Q: What if Sub Zero returned with the original amulet, leaving Quan Chi without it?

Well, they'd probably just try to switch back, or continue their journeys to defeat their enemies (Scorp Zero would still track down Quan chi, and Supion would continue his path to blaze i guess).
