A piebald doe stands near the back of the crowd gathered and watches from an advantageous point the buck prancing before them all. He seems a strange sort but she can't help but smile faintly, her expression otherwise somewhat calculating and even appraising. What kind of game will this be, exactly? She hears the others talking of a last time with some doe who was apparently quite shocking. She almost wishes she could have been there. It sounds like it was an interesting time. Perhaps this time will be just as interesting?
Normally Trouble isn't much one for such large crowds, despite what her name might imply, but she's comfortable enough. Perhaps she'll even make a... friend or two? That would be fun, she thinks, and her expression curves into a small, amused, smile.

A reedy brown and green buck is one of those talking about a last time. He's inserted himself into the middle of a group of players, complaining loudly and theatrically to anyone who will listen.
"I hope that doofus Colored Spring won't be back," He says with a dramatic roll of his eyes. "The predators might have actually stood a chance at winning, if he hadn't been pursuing his own baffling agenda."

Fortunately, Colored Spring was not back this round, but whether his replacement would be any better...well, she was questionable at best. Nightingale stared at the assembled crowd, wide-eyed, not entirely certain how she got here or what she was doing. She almost scurried away as the host described the nature of the game - it sounded terribly unpleasant to her ears - but then, she thought, this was her chance. She'd show them. What she would be showing, and to whom, she wasn't quite certain. But she'd show them, oh yes.

 Doubleback too had returned, albeit a bit later than the rest. She seemed to have arrived before the game had started though, which, in the end, was what mattered. The noxious colored doe was careful to stand on the fringe of the group. It was important first to get a feel for the different players. She saw Wild Sage in the corner speaking loudly again. Ah, no surprises there.

Giveforward's intense elation at helping by taking the invitation meant for Lightning Strike had settled into uncertainty. She had never played a game like the acha described. And frankly, acting was not a strong suit. She was too open, too honest, too nice. Oh well, she'd just have to channel her sister. Takeback would have been a much more mysterious player.

Fire Made Flesh wasn't sure he was supposed to be here. He didn't know what he was doing here- other than watching, and waiting. But waiting for what? The dragonbuck kept his distance from the gathering crowd, watching the pleasantries and socializing with clear disdain. ....- wait, hold on a second, a game? Flesh growled to himself at being caught in the wrong place at clearly the wrong time. But he couldn't leave now, that would mean losing- and losing was something the dragonbuck was unfamiliar with.

Optimist had no idea what she was doing here. Well, she kind of did: she'd been paying attention, after all. She nodded rather cheerfully at the assembled kin. She was pretty eager to make new friends - this'd be a nice, friendly mixer, wouldn't it? Wolves were so cool! And yet no one was introducing themselves, preferring instead to complain about some previous game. Didn't they know that this one would be more fun? Optimist was playing! So she did the polite thing and began the introductions. " I suppose I should start, since no one else has - I'm Okay is Wonderful! You can call me Optimist."

 The gathering kin attracted Night and drew him from his solitary wanderings. Though he was more of a dimensional artist, this art of acting sounded interesting. His creations of late hadn't been providing him with the same satisfaction. It was time to seek a distraction.
Watching the creamy-hued Acha cavort about reminded him of his younger days. He'd be happy to give it a try, but Night seriously hoped spryness wasn't going to be a requirement.
When a good sized crowd had gathered, the Acha shared with them what the 'game' would be. It sounded a bit dark, thought Night. Maybe a drastic change was what he needed. Night decided to give it his all in hopes it would pull him out of his artistic slump.

Neither Nor shifted their weight as the odd buck began his speech. A game. They'd been invited here for a game. It was by far one of the least productive things they'd ever had the misfortune to become entangled in and Neither Nor was hard pressed not to sigh and roll their eyes too dramatically. What had they done to get their name on this oh so delightful list? They'd not been around for the last time this game was played (or so they'd gathered from the complaints arising from a few).

The Vale had sent a representative to the game -- it was probably a strange choice, in seeming, because Wintershadow rarely left the Vale lands, but something had been pulling him to do and see more. Unassuming and quiet, he slipped in between the kin gathered about until he stood roughly in the center, on a little rise of land. The wind tossed his hair about his shoulders, pulling on the feathers woven in. "I'm Wintershadow," he says, his voice quiet but pleasantly musical, "you can just call me Shadow."

Peep liked to think she was good at games. She did have a lot of experience with hide and seek, chase the mongoose and fantasy make believe that the children all loved. This was a little different but she was definitely willing to give it her best shot. "I look forward to playing with everyone today," she said as she joined her fellow players, giving them all a sunny smile. "My name is Peep."

"I'm hearing people say things about 'blood' and 'deaths' and some 'doe from last time'," Sleepless hissed furiously at Bitter End, "I know it's supposed to be 'just a game', but it sounds really intimidating...why are we doing this again?"
