Barth weighed his options. He had the thorns, of course, which were...alright, when it came to restraining mostly-person-shaped and only mildly struggling combatants.
Calder and...well, what was apparently Zar, were a lot of...a lot of creature. And Barth, while tall, was sort of thin, and slow, and really not cut out for this sort of thing.
Zar nailed him with a look, and while he certainly appreciated Calder's defense on his behalf...
Barth slunk very slowly backwards towards a window.
Handsome had slipped out the door as Zar entered, which Barth should have taken closer notice of, but they were a tad past that point.

Calder was, if anything, fiercely territorial. He had a herd, and Barth was the core member of that herd. Zar was also park of that herd, and as far as hierarchy went, Zar and Calder struggled for the top. Calder still felt he was top stallion, and as such, those under him had to be disciplined. Calder also had to insure his primary mate was kept safe and secure. If one was going to go after him, challenge him in this way, Calder wanted to put a stop to it. He had wanted a fight, deep down, as such was the habit of young stallions bucking for power and to flaunt their powers to those they loved. If Zar wanted to spar, Calder would allow it. He was starting a fight in his territory after all, right in Barth’s (and in part Calder’s) home.
“You need to know that we do not fight on my territory.” He nipped the air again, stomping a hoof and then reared back when he was slashed at. Calder was a different monster to the demon. He didn’t subdue, he was designed to exhaust his prey, drag down struggling prey, and got a thrill over that fight before they drowned. He was designed to overpower.
He just didnt' want to hurt another mate of his. Zar wasn't right in the head right now. Something set him off, and he'd be hurt if they kept going. Head down, Calder rose up and threw his hooves out in hopes the act would cause Zar to step down.

Zar thrashed and let out another screech of frustration, tail lashing, tongue curling. But he heard, he heard and the only force that could overpower lust and hunger crept in and subdued his struggles - guilt.
What he'd wanted to do, what he'd tried to do crept in as his strength waned and he found himself scruffed and pinned by Calder.
The screech twisted up into a low throaty keen and he laid his head on the floor, staring at the twisted thorns, wide eyed and unfocused. Barth had gotten away, he'd been so close. And that should have been terrible, except it was not, he could only wish he'd been closer.
The keen finally ebbed, slowed and quietened until the only sound the Incubus made was breathing. "What iss thisss." he hissed. And yet he knew, he remembered the creature circling him in the dream, the feral destruction which always paced or was chained on the edge of his awareness.
