[Ten Tails]

August dove head long forward at a full run, following her advice and running a serpentine forward. His heart was racing, and his head was pounding already. A fire hydrant was in the way, and he hurled himself over it, as a voice echoed from behind his eyes. "This one can feel the need of one's self."

As he cleared the Hydrant, the water pressure it contained suddenly skyrocketed, and the thing popped open like a sabre'd bottle of champagne. It's thick red bolt ejecting skywards at high speed and a geyser of water flooded up in a frothy white torrent, raining down on the street and the telephone pole. August cursed, as he looked up to the electrician working. "Damnit, that just made it worse. Water conducts!"

That voice was strangely quiet at that. August kept running, his body soaked from the torrent of water that was now flooding the street. He glanced over his shoulder to see what was going on.

Magik's eyes lifted from her confrontation with the driver of the car she was currently almost standing on his hood for the moment, soon as she heard the POP! SHHHHH! Sound. Geysers weren't everyday occurances in the city and certainly not when there were going to be live wires on the ground in moments.

Magik raised up her free hand, waving to some of the pedestrians. "Everyone! Off the street! Get in a building!" Though with the chaos, some people were standing about, simply watching or already rushing by with their children underfoot.

And that was when she heard the snappings that sounded like all hell was breaking loose. And on a smaller scale, it was getting closer to happening. One of the wires lashed out towards the road, almost as if it had a will of its own, like a serpent ready to strike. Wispy invisible hands whipped it in a downwards arc, bringing it directly for the car, Luckily it was jumpable as the man inside the car gave a squeal much like a little girl as it smoked down onto his hood, Magik already on her feet and crunching over towards the trunk. Metal crunching underfoot as she didn't care about denting the damn car. Not when sizzling flesh and being electrocuted might cause more problems. Permanent problems.

And that was when the water started to rain down on the street, getting progressively closer to where she was. "August! Church!" They'd be free of its influence for abit, and she could gather some much needed supplies. Ones she hadn't carried since she'd given up her robes. But of course, the battle was never over.

She had no choice but to make a running jump for it as the wire was lifted again from the car, the spirit having trouble holding something intangible and cumbersome, but he still had some energy left to work with. She took a running jump, using her arms to fan herself out, like a high jumper does to gain those extra inches as she wound up just barely making the curb near where August was. Just as the wire fell into the street, lashed towards their forms, as it splashed down, the sound of a few screams were heard as the police man, who was still standing in the middle of the road, started to convulse in pain as his body sizzled in the street. "GO! GO! GO!"

She had a gloved hand on the back of the man again, unsure why she of all people were playing white knight, which just wasn't her thing, or was it? "We're almost there, Two Doors Down." God, if it wasn't so hectic, she might have even made that a joke.

August glanced behind his back, watching the Police officer sizzle. His heart sank suddenly. He stopped running and stared, "We have to...do..." His words faltering with shock and suddenly the voice behind his eyes was back. "Do something? One will. Think!"

And August was thinking, he wanted to do something. To get an innocent man out of harms way, whatever he could do. But, though that want hummed through his body, he couldn't do anything could he?

Well, maybe want was enough, as the fire hydrant suddenly gurgled, and the water changed direction without warning, unleashing it's full torrent on the officer. The officer was washed off the street by the torrent, the electrical wire fizzling as, even though water was a conductor, too much of it dissolve the charge into nothing more than a tingle.

The hydrant then seemed to run out of pressure, going to a flooding spring that pooled in the street.

August, frightened by the fact the thing was still after them, and what he had seemingly just done, started running again.

Like she didn't want to do something, but sometimes, thats what these spirits did, used human nature against people. Most people would help out if they saw someone laying there dying. They almost banked on it. Especially those people who chose to walk in the light.

Seeing the police officer might make it because of what August did was reassuring. Man wasn't a bad man. But that kind of caring could be misconstrued as a weakness. Especially in this kind of situation. She gave a quick look back, seeing the electrician calling to cut the power to the grid, as the lights seemed to switch off at that moment in time. But back up generators kicked on as day faded into night.

"Get into the church. I can hear sirens, he'll be taken care of." She could see the door getting closer. And long as they were quick, they'd make it in no time flat.
