There are not 13 full moons in the year. I did the calculations, in depth, not ten posts ago. It is rather frustrating to go to all of the effort of posting the facts about the lunar calendar to have them ignored and contradicted within ten posts.
Also, I don't know that 13 is associated with the moon in Wicca. Have you got a source for that?

Let o represent the full phase of the moon.
Let - represent half of of the ellipse (half a lunar month).

You have stated that there are 12.5 elliptical orbits in a year.
You have states that one elliptical orbit is from one full moon to the next.

A year:
o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o-

There are 13 os in a year. There are 13 full moons in a year.

Please explain where I am going wrong?

refered to as the 'esbats' (some of the names may vary depending on the tradition)

"even though there are only twelve months in our calendar year, there are thirteen moons in a lunar year. this means that in every year, two full moons fall in one month"

1 - oak moon
2 - wolf moon
3 - storm moon
4 - chaste moon
5 - seed moon
6 - hare moon
7 - dyad moon
8 - mead/honey moon
9 - wort moon
10 - barley moon
11 - wine/harvest moon
12 - blood moon
13 - snow moon

Where did I say that a solar year starts with a full moon?

"even though there are only twelve months in our calendar year, there are thirteen moons in a lunar year. this means that in every year, two full moons fall in one month"

That's a non-sequitor.
That's like saying 4 is associated with the compass in Wicca because of the four directions, which it's not, or with the year because of the seasons, or the elements, etc

Furthermore, I'd like to see the definition of the lunar year, please.

Lineage and initiatory path for this person please.
My research points to a "Georgian Tradition" which I've never heard of.

I've heard of it. I do confess Wing, that it probably would be a bit difficult to the lineage of a person you don't know other than as an author.

It wouldn't have to. The half of a lunar month could have come before the first full moon and be left off after the last.

"There are about 12.5 synodic lunar months in the year."

You did not specify that you were talking about a lunar year and I had assumed, for some reason, that you were not. Oops. >.<

you asked for a source stating the information that you had not previously heard of before. i supplied an easily accessible and readily available source that does supply such information. as to how accurate the info is, i can not say, but this is commonly found in other "wiccan" books as well and as such is commonly circulated through the public.

Okies. So I read through it and I think I must be missing something..

We've been assuming that Samhain is on October 31st. Just 'cause. I dunno, my calendar says so.
So if it isn't, when IS Samhain? And also, wtf do we celebrate on the 31st if it's not Samhain?

Samhain is November 1st

October 31st is the eve before, perhaps it was the neo-thinking that people should celebrate in a way similar to how we celebrate New Year's Eve into the early morning hours of New Year's Day (in the US, I'm not sure about other countries).

i don't know if that made much sense, my sinus medicine is kicking in sweatdrop
