Kon smiled. "That's my brother. Showing concern for others."

"Our daughter is a Shimmer; I had to learn to fill my role and she must as well."

"Did you enjoy being taught to fill that role? Did you have a say in it before starting?"  

[Duchess Marie]

"I had to do my job. Just as anyone in the village. Our duties may not always be pleasant, but they must be performed."

Just then a Silverblade scout ran up. "Prince Kolo, the Forbidden tribe representative needs a word with you."

Kolo sighed. "I'll be right there."  

[Duchess Marie]

"What of the Shimmers? This messenger comes here to speak with the Silverblades?"  

[Reciter5613]

"He only wished to speak to the prince directly."  

[Duchess Marie]

D'lin nodded only once, not to show her annoyance at having two other tribes meet in her village without her.

Kolo left with the scout.  

[Duchess Marie]

D'lin looked at Kon, "so is this enough public appearance?"  

[Reciter5613]

Kon glared. "You don't really like meeting other people do you?"  

[Duchess Marie]

"I have work I could be doing instead of making a spectacle of myself and child. I do not wish to have anyone see that Shi'me cannot yet stand. It makes her look weak."

Kon sighed. "Go if you want. I'm not stopping you."  

[Duchess Marie]

D'lin nodded once to him and took Shi'me back into the house herself. Breathing a sigh of relief, her baby was safe still. She did not trust the Ebonblades would not try to take her. The best option was to keep her eyes on her daughter at all times.
