My opinion about Voldemort is that during childhood, he didn't feel the love of a parent that's why he has a lot of revenge in his heart. If he only knew that the only reason his father fell in love with his mother is because of the potion, i guess he wouldn't have hatred in his parents.

But Voldemort was also mean to the other children in the cave, fi you have reas book 6 you'll know.

I don't think he's evil at all. I know it sounds gay to say that he's just "misunderstood", but he is if you look at it. I think he was crying out for attetion and lost himself in the process. I know, I'm no expert on soul/cruses, but I think if you tear your soul up enough you're not gonna be yourself anymore. When I think of him when he was young I can just see him crying in a corner, his head down in his knees wishing he had a mother and a father. Maybe in his head he thought he just wasn't good enough for one.Maybe he bullied the other childern to express his anger at himself. He loathed himself, why not loath others too? When he found out that his father really did leave him (cus' he did. Even know he wasn't even there by choice.) he went kinda crazy. That's why he killed him.
