I am fire, so how may I control it? The other day I pictured it going out, which it did, but I tried it again today and it's not quite working the same way...help!

The best way to meditate on any of the elements, is to contact them in reality. Jump in the ocean, sit by a stream, lie down on the grass or freshly turned earth, touch a tree, bask in the sunlight, stare into a fire, let the wind whip through your hair.
...Starhawk (The Spiral Dance)

If you want to meditate on each element specifically, you can use the following (also from The Spiral Dance):

Air Meditation...
Face East. Ground and center. Breathe deep, and be conscious of the air as it flows in and out of your lungs. Feel it as the breath of the Goddess, and take in the life force, the inspiration, of the universe. Let your own breath merge with the winds, the clouds, the great currents that sweep over land and ocean with the turning of the earth. Say "Hail Arida, Bright Lady of Air"

Fire Meditation...
Face South. Ground and center. Be conscious of the electric spark within each nerve as pulses jump from synapse to synapse. Be aware of the combustion within each cell, as food burns to release energy. Let your own fire become one with candle flame, bonfire, hearth fire, lightning, starlight, and sunlight, one with the bright spirit of the Goddess. Say "Hail Tana, Goddess of Fire"

Water Meditation...
Face West. Ground and center. Feel the blood flowing through the rivers of yoru veins, the liquid tides within each cell of your body. You are fluid, one drop congealed out of the primal ocean that is the womb of the Great Mother. Find the calm pools of tranquility within you, the rivers of feeling, the tides of power. Sink deep into the well of the inner mind, below consciousness. Say "Hail Tiamat, Goddess of the Watery Abyss"

Earth Meditation...
Face North. Ground and center. Feel your bones, you skeleton, the solidity of your body. Be aware of your flesh, of all that can be touched and felt. Feel the pull of gravity, your own weight, your attraction to the earth that is the body of the Goddess. You are a natural feature, a moving mountain. Merge with all that comes from the earth: grass, trees, grains fruits, flowers, beasts, metals, and precious stones. Return to dust, to compost, to mud. Say "Hail Belili, Mother of Mountains"

It take repeated practice to work consistantly with the elements. With more practice, it will happen more often.

I am water. I would meditatie in the bath or in a natural body of water, like a lake, ocean, etc. Or even hot tub or pool.

Also, you can imagine yourself floating and feel yourelf becomeing water.

My zodiac signs are Taurus and Year of the Snake.

So that makes me like really really Earth-y, right? biggrin

**When I do quizzes online, such as Quizilla and BlogThings, I often come up as Water though. I'm not really sure how I would tell.

You should try doing a full natal chart. Your Sun sign is just one of the planets you need to account for. Gotta look at Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc also. Tally up all the elements. Look at where you have high and low numbers.

Of course, always bear in mind that this is just one system of looking at things. The way astrology does it strikes me as mighty strange. Eventually plan to find out why they break the rotation the way they do. Makes no sense to me.

Edit by mod: please don't triple post, it's against the rules. Also, to get more people interested in your guide, you may want to run it through a spell checker. wink This time I've done it for you, but next time...

To start off, you must know the balance of each element. The elements can be broken down into a few categories:
    + masculine and feminine.
    + passive and active.
    + densities.
    + other.
Bear in mind, that in its base sense, the elements are all equal.

As for actually using the elements in any magick, you must know what you are getting yourself into. The most receptive and easiest to manipulate of the elements is water. Water can aid in meditations and healing. The next element in this order is air, yet it’s not very receptive but it is easy to manipulate. Air is good for receiving inspiration and weather magick. Earth comes next because it is very receptive but very hard to manipulate. Earth is superb for healing and manifesting. The final element is fire, because it is almost impossible to manipulate and isn’t very receptive at all.

You must always remember to treat the elements with respect. If you don’t know what you’re doing, then the effects can backfire immensely. I remember when I was younger I tried to summon up a light rain to ease a drought; but ended up creating a nasty three day down poor.

I thought the order was Air, Earth, Water, Fire, Spirit. Cause I have studied The Five Element's for 3 Year's. and yes I consider myself an specialist. And I agree with you on the feelings but i have some disagreement's. if you would like to know them please ask me.

What about Spirit? I use Spirit quite often, especially in my circles. I find it quite easy to work with, if you know what you're doing. Just don't try to control it from the start.

I've been doing energy manipulation techniques for the past few days and I thought to myself that it might come in handy with elemental work, and so I gave it a try on fire, which we all no is very difficult to manipulate, and in general is a very stubborn element.

In my experiance its not as hard as it appears, when trying to manipulate a flame make sure there is no air current in your room, the AC is off and the fan is off, put out a lit candle, make sure the wick is not too long because this will cause the flame to flicker and we don't want that. Start my rubbing your hands together, away from the flame, think of fire in your hands do this until you feel a warm tingling sensation. Place your hands apart on each side of the flame and visualise your own energy on your fingertips pushing the energy of the flame, alternate hands and add small, short movements as to not create air currents. Visualise pushing the flame back and forth causing it to dance.

This is how I did it, I also managed to pull the flame into my own energy... but I wouldn't advise that seeing as it burnt the tip of my middle finger...

Oh and make sure you do this when its dark out. Also I had "Dragon's Blood" Scent Incense burning in the corner of my room away from the flame, just on a side note.

I'm not sure if this will help, but... for those wishing to manipulate fire, this is how I am learning to do it.
