Something caught her attention, one ear flicking. A giggle of cubs? Her three sons that had snuck off, under the noses of the pride? No, one of her other cubs. She hurried over, ears forward and eyes stern. "Pilixcatzin, what are you doing out here? I told you AND your other two brothers to stay at the dens!" She didn't want to have to keep track of a cub while looking for three more!
Siobhan could only sigh, shaking her head. Her attention was drawn to her mate, the cub, and the cub's mother, one eyebrow up. Naughty cubs all around, it seemed! Pirate blood would be tricky upon the pride, for sure. She flicked her tail, continuing the search for the three naughty boys.
He let out a huff, watching Ixcatzin approach. His gaze returned to the cub, one eye closing as he mock-glared with the other. "I would say that that's still a no... By your own mother's rule." Natsu gave Ixcatzin a bow of his head, then joined Siobhan in the search. Surely soon somebody would find the cubs, right? He certainly hoped so! On the plus, they didn't have to worry about buffalo anymore.

Kuruka heard the commotion while she'd been skirting the edges of the Kizingo'zaa lands and decided to venture out to see what was going on. It didn't take her long to bump into a wave-tousled female from the Bahari pride. In the distance, she could see others, nosing around - they appeared to be looking for something. Kuruka turned to the female nearest her - the tan Bahari girl. "'Scuse me, what is it you're looking for?" She tilted her head, awaiting an answer.
Faatina scowled, finding another shell. Where on earth were the paw prints?! It was then that she heard an inquiring voice behind her. She whirled around, smiling at the rather brightly-colored female behind her. "There are lost cubs! Some of our cubs wandered off, and it's all hands on deck for the search. Care to join?" She hoped the other female would join them. After all, it's always the more the merrier - especially where recovering lost cubs was concerned.
At the answer, Kuruka immediately nodded. "Oh, of course!" She glanced around, deciding to go in an opposing direction from everyone else. Almost immediately, her eyes were drawn to a cluster of tiny paw prints. This had to be them! Unfortunately, they were too cluttered to give her any indicator of where the cubs could have gone. Frowning, she moved on.

Quote: The story teller had heard of the cubs wandering lost, and joined in the search party for the infants. It seemed they were on the right track for them, which was encouraging. The sooner they were found, the less trouble they could get into, right? The green lion snuffled around, trying to distinguish between the scents of the pride members and those of the cubs he had never met. Some scent led him right to the money, he found some paw prints! "Over here!"
Quote: Deimos followed the call of a pride member's voice to lead her over to some tracks. They vanished after a few paces, lost over some some leaves and greens that didn't preserve paw prints well. She was a hunter, well suited for this, right? She shied away from becoming a nanny for reasons just such as this. What if it had been her who had lost the cubs?! She didn't dwell on it too much, though. Her laser focus proved vital when she rediscovered the paw prints. "I think we've almost found them!"
Quote: Ahti tried to follow the calls of the other lions, but the builder was not a very skilled tracker or light stepper. He tried to follow the cubs' prints, but when he thought he was just a stone's throw away, he poked his nose through the bushes and only found a startled and indignant bird. "Oh, sorry..." He grimaced. At least some of the other pride members appeared to be having some luck. It seemed they would be found soon, though.

Quote: Coduim was still following the tracks he had found, but they became a muddled mess. Well, he supposed, when there's three little ones running around, they're not going to have a very linear, easy to follow route. He blew a puff of frustrated air and plopped down. He had been so close, he was almost certain he had found them! The green lion frowned and felt like giving up, but that wasn't fair to the cubs who might be scared or in danger. He pushed on.
Quote: Deimos grimaced. More tracks but no cubs! But still, they were only getting closer! She put her nose to the ground, trying to memorize their scents, as they were still quite fresh. Soon... She could almost hear them. Or maybe it was just her imagination. Each twitch of a leaf or sound of a rustle could possibly be them. The pink lioness was leaping left and right to try and suss them out.
Quote: The large blue and white lion was distracted by a feather left behind by the bird he had startled. It was shiny and iridescent. He picked it up, tucked it into his mane for safe keeping, and only then trotted off towards where the cubs' tracks had been found and were presumed to be headed.

Ixcatzin spared a glance at the others, as she started to usher her cub home. While she was worried about her three missing sons, she didn't quite trust her daughter to go all the way home on her own. After all, despite the order to stay put, she'd clearly decided to come along anyway. Ixi could only assume all this naughty behavior, as benign as it otherwise presently was, came from their sire. She couldn't recall her brother and sister running off when their mother had told them to stay put, she certainly hadn't. In fact, she'd stayed with her mother long after she should have gone solo, but that was more out of concern for her mother than anything. Coaxoch was, after all, a shy lioness... As Ixi spotted the ever-worried Dimbwi, she pushed the thoughts from her mind, and was soon rushing to return to the rest of the group, assured of her daughter's safety.
The more they searched, the more they found, it seemed. More birds, that was for sure. They seemed to be taking advantage of the newfound absence of the buffalo, darting in and out of the folliage without fear of disturbance and the return, in the cases of some species, of food sources. Unfortunately, many were apparently mimicking the laughter of cubs and confusing them all. As she came face to face with one, she cursed at it, giving a swat of her paw. But some of the laughter, it seemed, might have been coming from cubs after all. More tracks were found, as Codium and Deimos joined them, which meant soon their hunt would be over. "Natsu, when we have cubs, I'm using vines to secure them to the dens until I can trust them enough to NOT run off like this!" She had, at least, observed the blue lioness doing her very best, even with the more experienced help of others, to keep her children in line. Like Ixi, Siobhan had come to the conclusion that any naughty behavior must have come from their father.
At first Natsu laughed at Siobhan's statement. Then he stopped, eyebrows rising up. "When we have cubs..." He didn't think of how Ixcatzin's cubs were sneaking off and the like. He didn't think of how he himself or Siobhan had acted as cubs. No, he thought of her brothers. Not for the first time, though usually he did it while alone, his gaze flicked in the general direction of the rogue lands. Every day, he expected her brothers to pop up and try to chase him off. Though now that he thought about it, as he swallowed his fear of not fatherhood but the uncles down, the cubs they sought, and their littermates, DID remind him of Siobhan and her brothers. At least, so far they did. Time would tell if the five boys would turn protective of their baby sister like Siobhan's brothers had.

Deimos Ahti 341
Quote: Well, he hadn't given up yet, as a matter of fact, he felt like they were quite close. The large, green lion could almost reach out and touch them, at least in his mind's eye. He parted some large leaves, sure his paw would make contact with a little furry body and the search would be over, him the big hero. That, actually, he wasn't very worried about. He just wanted the cubs to be home and safe with their mother, tragedy averted. But when he saw what was concealed behind the green curtain, he was disappointed. A beautiful, shiny shell. He groaned and sighed and stared at it. Well, he figured he might keep it. What if he was trying to impress some classy lady somewhere down the line?
Quote: Deimos was about ready to pull her fur out and scream. More paw prints, but a cluttered mess of them. She'd been hot on their trail since she joined in, almost within reach of those little buggers, but they were always one step ahead of the hunter. She let out a quiet roar in frustration, not caring if the sound would scare them further off. At this point, with her tracking skills still failing her, she wasn't even sure if they could be found. Heavy footed and steaming, she traipsed on.
Quote: Ahti stumbled upon another feather and added it to the one in his mane already. They could be valuable later on, who could really tell at this point? In spite of how it looked that he was just meandering around aimlessly, he was still looking for the cubs. He just was taking a more leisurely approach.
