Unfortunately, they chose the caiman.

Changes surrendered and hopped out of the ring, fleeing into the distance.

Now this was the sort of activity Against All Odds could get into. He stepped up to accept the challenge.

2. the caiman - Whose great idea was it to pit innocent kin against this creature? -3 to your roll.

Caiman: 8
Odds: 6-3

A Caiman? This wasn't something Odds had seen since he came to the swamp. Of course, he was up to the challenge. How hard could a little snapping lizard thing be?

Quite hard apparently. The damn thing managed to bite his tail right off the bat and when Odds kicked it off, the little beast grabbed his leg. The fight was over pretty quick, and Odds was very ashamed...

What Lies Beneath hadn't expected this sort of.. entertainment, when someone had mentioned the "festivities" of the clearing to him, in passing. But, well, now that he's here.... He grins a little sharply.

"Might as well give it a go."

The Boar

Lies tilts his head as the boar is brought out. Its tusks gleam in the early morning light, slick with it's saliva and it snorts and paws at the ground, ready to go. Something inside him thrills a little at the sight of it and he hopes it will prove to be as well of a match as it appears. Perhaps coming to the clearing hadn't been such a bad idea after all.

-rolling-

The boar charges, and Lies attempts to move out of the way, only to slip on a slick patch of mud and falls with a sharp oof!.

Luckily for him, his fall means that he doesn't get gutted in the chest, or worse, though it is extremely embarrassing. His dark coloration hides his flush, but not his scowl and narrowed eyes as he picks himself up, stiffly, and pointedly does not meet anyone's eyes.

Time to find something to drink to soothe the burn of shame, he thinks.

Blood watched everything with hooded eyes, giving the caiman an interested look. How they had managed to capture that would be a story in itself, it was no hatching and it looked healthy. He suppose they could have raised it from a hatching though.

Eaglehound was well known and who had decided a foxbun was any sort of competition needed to rethink the sport. That was not a challenge, that was just sad. He tossed his head and moved forward to get a better look.

5. the giant wasp - So the stinger's a little intimidating, but the front half is approachable...right? +6 to your roll.

A wasp hmm, dangerous if you got stung, but fragile most of them were. And squishy, this should be over all too soon. Blood flashed his teeth at the creature as he stepped in, tail twitching in the hopes of a good battle. Lets make this last and be glorious!

(And lets see how he does)

Giant Wasp 7
Blood - 4 + 6 = 10

The battle was harder then he first appeared, the wasp landing a few good hits but Blood managed to smack it down and pin it with his shoulder. He didn't want to kill it, he was rather sure that would be frowned on. He also wanted to compete this challenge as many times as he could.

He stepped back, an careful eye on the wasp to make sure he wasn't attacked again and nodded to the kin running the booth. They knew good entertainment.

Snapping Crocodile wandered towards another booth and he smirked. Aw yeah, this is his type of booth, a brawling one.

As he looked around, it seems that he would be fighting some familiars and he smiled. He is always looking for a good brawl.

He walked up and rolled for the chance on what animal he would be facing.

When he saw that he got the caiman, he frowned. What was that? As the kin pointed to what he would be fighting he smiled. Yes! A worthy opponent!

He stepped into the ring where they would do battle and as soon as the match started, began to fight.

Snapping rushed forward and, using his horns he used it to fight off the Caiman. The Caiman was strong and Snapping laughed at the Caiman's attempts.

While the creature was strong, he was stronger. Snapping used his horns and strength to flip the Caiman on his back and rammed his horns straight at the familiar's soft underbelly.

As the Caiman passed out. Snapping Crocodile laughed in triumph!

Hoping that the beauty in the flower booth was still watching, Distant Thunder made his way to the fighting ring, confident that this time, he would succeed - fighting would probably work out in his favour, would it not? He wasn't thinking too hard about that question now though, it was time to demonstrate his battling prowess!

"Any opponent is welcome." He declared buckfully, hooves steady and head high. "A buck from the plains only fears the Ache." And a million dead bugs from a clay shell, but he wasn't going to classify that as fear per se. Disgust was more apt for the experience. This was another opportunity to prove himself in public.

When the caiman came before him, flicking its tail and flexing its jaws, Distant Thunder was still unafraid! With a grin - and aware of the beautiful does in the midst - he spun on his heel, a little bit of showmanship, ready to start the fight.

Alas, for all the morals of his experiences he should have learnt today, he was but a fallible buck. Despite his battle knowledge and strength, the closure of his showy spin was mistimed, and a scrape against the bordering white stones sent him facefirst into the ground. It was not a good start for a demonstration his battling prowess at all. The caiman headed straight for the waving limb seeking grip in the battle ring, and an attempt to fend the creature off had Thunder helpfully sticking another leg straight into the range of the caiman's maw. The buck was strong, but not agile, and the twist of his limbs as he tries to rise looked quite painful and pathetic, like a newborn foal skidding on ice.

Knowing that too, Thunder opted to roll over, hoping that the heft of a kin who had survived the Flood and the Ache would persuade the reptile to release his ankles. Not so - the weighed down (and rather contrary) caiman decided to close those massive jaws tighter, and the buck growled with sheer rage. It was not out of pain for his entrapped hooves, no - it was the pain of humiliation.

He really hoped that the beauty in the flower booth was not still watching.

One kick, two kicks, and still the caiman would not budge. With a mighty roar, Thunder willed his legs to rise and thump his opponent against the ground. Finally, it released him. His now-freed limbs took some time to shake out for proper use, and he thought blindly, that it was time to charge the caiman. A full body-slam had never let him down. He was too good at this to lose.

It was only as he was approaching the caiman at top speed that he realised that perhaps it was not the right decision to charge something that came up to his ankles.

After an undignified flop as the caiman repeated its singular (but effective) leg-biting maneuver, Thunder struggled for a while, sulking. When it wandered away - he was too absorbed in his shame to notice whether it simply got bored or was called off - he unhappily scuffed his way out of the ring. It was not a good day for the proud Kiokote.

Not a lot of booths could keep Fought With Fury's attention. She scoffed at the foal games and had no need for trinkets. In fact, she really had to wonder why she was meandering through the winter market at all, shoving past other kin and snapping if they dared to grow indignant. But they always kept moving, the overall feel of the festival far too jolly for any real altercations to happen. It was a blessing, then, when Firebrand happened upon the beast-fighting ring, and the mindless violence therein. Perfect.
