At Knapweed's call, the totoma rose with a nod and came to stand behind and to one side of the scout leader. He shifted his weight slowly from hoof to hoof as he stood, listening dispassionately to the conversations around him. Walking, even around the flower festival, was better than sitting still, at least.

Shed This Life leads a red buck towards the tribe. The latter has a branch in his mouth -- green leaves marred by black spots -- and is only barely keeping up with the brown buck. (The cheetah behind him seems to be the main force in keeping him on track.) "Show it to one of them," he nods vaguely towards his other tribemates, then turns his attention to a set of tracks nearby. Never one to miss an opportunity to hunt, he sets off. Travels in Circles watches him go, then drops the branch to the ground. He looks around blankly. Clearly he needs more direction.

Another kin had followed Wintershadow on his sudden trek away from the Vale. Though he had left his authority in Wood Spider's hands, nothing had stopped her daughter, Honey Trap, from following the Caretaker. And so she had -- and so she is the one to intervene when Shed This Life leaves the poor lost buck in the middle of the clearing, looking hopeless. She raises her eyebrows up at the buck, minding her step around the cheetah, and then peers at the branch, speaking in a good-natured, friendly tone. "Where on earth did you find that? You'll want to show it to Bird and Wintershadow." The buck so named is currently looking over Knapweed and Whisper, who need no direction, and the totoma, who apparently does. It is all he can do to avoid any of his irritation leak through onto his facial expression. Shadow is known for being placid, easygoing; he hopes this can continue. His voice rises above the murmur of the tribe, a clear tenor that even in the early morning crowd turns a few heads: "Totoma, go with Knapweed and Whisper. You've got a good loud voice. Go strike up some conversations, see what you can find."

Travels looks at the doe, all slender limbs and winter blue. "You look wet," he thinks out loud. His tail swishes and he takes in her question, while his gaze zeroes in on the branch and his cheetah. "Cat doesn't like to be shown off." He's misunderstood the what of her question. "But I can show them the branch," he grins as though he's thought up a brilliant compromise.

"Of course, father. A walk would be lovely." Whisper caught the glance and nod from the red kiokote, and pleased that everything was going well she nodded back with a smile. If he needed anything there were plenty of others about that could give him and the zikwa a helping hoof. Turning her full attention to the two scouts at her side Whisper's main purpose now was making sure they had a plan of attack. So to speak. "We should make a pass through the whole festival first." Her throat hurt already from trying to talk over the background din. "Then, if anything seems amiss, make note of it and investigate properly?" It seemed like the obvious course, but Whisper hated going into things without double and triple checking everything. "Totoma," she used the non-name as the start of a request. "If you could call Undertone over that would be very appreciated. It seems she's in need of a walk as well." ((Gotta switch tenses, brain can't handle present at the moment. <3 )) Aric Val She doesn't have to come if you don't want her too. <3 Just extending the invitation.

"So it is one of your plants?" He noticed the nervousness and decided they could go to the edge, close enough to be overheard. "We can all help to some extent. I would be willing to help out with your garden, if you think it might be needed." He flicked his tail gently to signal the swan they were moving off. It spotted the plant and quickly picked it up to bring along. "Has something changed in the area this plant grows in?"

"I no, it's just..." He was being edged away from the tribe area and the festival and that seemed to make him even more nervous. "I heard you wanted sick plants. You don't need to help, it's okay." The Zikwa stopped moving, blinking rapidly. "I don't believe anything has changed, except for them all being dead now. Do you really want to go? It's quite far..."

Tears silently shook his head. It seems he was messing this up with the zikwa. "Well, it is something we do. Some of us clean up the swamp. So really no bother to go see how much clearing would be done, if any."

The totoma, from where he stood at what he thought a respectful distance from Knapweed, looked between Wintershadow and Whisper, silently but with some amusement. "In but a moment, sir," he rumbled quietly, and turned to fill Whisper's request.
Rather than yelling across the clearing, he paced to Undertone's side, bowed his head, and said, "Miss Whisper sends her respects and asks if you'd like to join her, miss Knapweed and I on a walk about the festival." Whatever purpose that may serve, he leaves unsaid. "If you wish to accompany us, you should follow me," he concludes before turning about and walking back to Knapweed.
This time he stands almost close enough to touch her, if he really reaches. He almost looks wryly over his shoulder at Wintershadow, but even in his sour mood, he knows that such a gesture would be entirely too disrespectful. He contents himself with a short but heavy sigh.
