Nono wasn't going to bother asking her to explain the definition of words she didn't understand. They spoke in such a strange way outside of her homeland and expected you to croak out things like they did. Their language was heavy and had no flow. Too many words for things that did not need them. Too many hard sounds at once that compromised those words.

She shook her head not to indicate she was refusing, but to clear the blood from her eyes that had trickled down from her forehead. This one had claws, yes she did.

"'ona, is it?" Popular word, honor. Nono adjusted her stance in preparation for another attack. "I challenge, missy."

Already, this lioness had a stubborn bullheadedness that would fit well within the Firekin. She had taken claws, was bleeding, and was still ready for a challenging fight.

This time, the Legate made sure to keep her claws well sheethed and clamped her jaw down tight. Both because a hit jaw could lead to broken teeth, and because she did not want to bite in self defense on accident.

As there had been no trickery from the lioness, Seide did not attempt to attack her with a feign. Instead, she circled momentarily, and then rose up on her hind legs as she lunged forwards, her flat paws aiming for either side of the lioness' neck.

When she felt impact, she scrambled with her back feet and threw her entire weight against the motion, knocking hard against a shoulder and taking the pair down together. There was a brief scramble as Seide gathered her footing, pressing one paw down on a chest as she used her weight to keep the other down.

The disadvantage, of course, was only one paw to wield with.

(1/2 3 rolls.)

Nono refused to put her training and skills to use for their intended purpose any longer. She had always been taught to overpower, disable, and go for the throat. A few times she had. Lack of resources. Drought. You understand.

Her style was similar to modern day wrestling with some kicks and whacks mixed in. Her back paw embedded in Seide's gut and she used all her weight to flip them over.

There was a wheezing escape of breath as the pair rolled. In this case, teeth would have been a preferred method of combat. It was the only part of the body that could really cause damage this close.

However, this was a spar, and there would be no teeth.

Instead, Moto'Seide shoved her paw up towards Nono's neck and chest instead. It was an instinctive defense to keep the other lioness from gaining full advantage.

Her head wrapped behind Nono's leg, and wormed and wiggled her left shoulder out from underneath the lioness long enough to make a swinging, sideward blow to the side of her opponent's skull.

(2/2 3 Rolls)

Nono's head wasn't as thick as the rest of her and this lioness didn't exactly tap her with that hit. Reeling from the blow she stumbled dizzily to the side and seemed like she might fall. She didn't.

When Seide got close, she reared back and with great force their foreheads collided.

Moto'Seide recounted the next events with shame.

Nono's raised head made her adrenaline pulse, and the Legate's thoughts were that she should roll away, but she was frozen. She could not look away. When they connected, she felt like someone had smashed the breath from her chest, and blood rushed into the back of her mind.

It was dizzying, and left her so dumb-minded that it nearly felt like it burned.

Seide jerked her head away, coughing and scrambling out from underneath Nono as she regained her composure. Things rung in her mind, and she pawed at Nono's face, using successful hits to push herself out from underneath the lioness.

And then she kicked out with her back legs at once, as hard as she could manage. And then she was on top of Nono again, her paws clearly looking to end the fight now.

Nono was pretty sure she flew for a second. And she was not a tiny girl, so this Firekin had some strength to go with that obnoxiousness. The sand scratched against her back and Nono flailed, trying to flip her opponent, kick her, anything she could. Seide had gotten a good hold this time.

There was a winner and it wasn't her.

Nono started speakng in a language Seide could not hope to understand and got a full three lines into it before it dawned on her everything she'd just said had been wasted breath.

Blame the rattled brains.

"Ya got me, missy."

Moto'Seide ceased as rapidly as if a full-sized rock had fallen and struck her on the nose. One raised paw settled into the ground at her feet, and the Legate grunted.

Her tongue was massaging a part of her muzzle which had taken a bruising hit. If it had been her decision, she would have let the rogue join based on the fight alone. There was Firekin blood in this one, there must have been.

The fighting technique was brute, one that Seide had yet to encounter, but it was fierce. A thought flickered into her mind that she was not used to having: it was a shame this lioness had not challenged someone else. It was likely that she would have won.

"I am Moto'Seide." The Legate's head bobbed towards the black and white lion as she noted the others skill. "You must leave this border now, as is decreed by a loss." The lingering but was quickly replaced by Seide's voice once more. "When you win your joining duel, come find me." And win, she would. Moto'Seide was certain.

Bimnono came from a long line of brutes. It was possible those brutes had been or mated with Firekin once upon a time, yes. She had never cared to ask her mother. Mama didn't like questions. Though, it would explain how she knew of them and why she spoke of them as savage.

Nono was quickly up on all fours and trying to collect her thoughts. They were not in the common tongue and she would have to find a way to remember what Seide told her about outposts and -- what was an outpost? She'd just have to wait and see.

"I will find ya, Mota'Seiay." She paused. "But I --" She stopped. "'Setta, setta, Mota'Seiay."

After that, she walked off.

How in the world did she inform this Firekin she didn't lay with the females with this accursed language barrier?

Come find her. Sure.
