lordstar Manual Calavera lordstar Things you can do that will pass the time and score you some God time: 1) Help an old lady cross the street (no comments from the peanut gallery plz) 2) Become a peer tutor/lead a study group 3) Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity (the nail gun is good times) 4) Once again, ACS could always use some help 5) I think you get the idea now We are justified by faith, not by works. While I agree wholeheartedly with everything lordstar says in the above, I would also add that doing these things won't "buy back" God's love or any better mansion in Heaven. The attitude I take is that doing these things is a few things: 1: An outward sign to others that Christians selflessly help others. We are all ambassadors for Christ. 2: Doing these things will help cultivate a humble, selfless, servant spirit that pleases the Lord. 3: The more we tend that spirit, the more we wish to do these things. I know you guys may all know this already, but some people do have the attitude that doing good works on earth will somehow let them buy their way into heaven or closeness with God without taking time reading and meditating on God's word. If you want to ADD to the list that could be very helpful btw you might want to be a bit more choosy when using absolutes Because you are now bordering on violating the guild rules for now a third time Just know that your ideas do not represent all Christian denominations You might be right about not being able to "buy back" God's love and whatnot but why should that stop people from trying? Hey at least they tried to be good right? Read my words. I did not suggest he avoid doing them. One should do the former without neglecting the latter. My additions to said list: 1: Pray (this involves just talking to God, don't be restricted to formulaic prayers of A+B=C, Amen) 2: Listen. When you pray, don't just talk to God, listen. 3 is like 2: Read and meditate on the word of God. 4: Sing praise to the Lord. 5: Tithe in love and obedience to God. 6: Love your neighbor like the samaritan in the parable. God will provide your expenses when you buy a homeless person a whopper (just an example). 7: Love your enemy. It's the hardest thing, I think, Jesus ever said. I could sum it up with something Obi-Wan Kenobi said: "You must do what you feel is right, of course." Keywords: Do, right, of course DO: Don't be a passive Christian. At least pray for those you see who need God. RIGHT: Set the bar at Jesus' perfect example and live as best as you can by it. Just remember that we're all human, so don't become judgemental of others. OF COURSE: In this context, and in all contexts, this statement indicates that Obi-Wan knew he was stating the obvious, as do I. Hence why I'm pointing this out. Sometimes, however, the enemy will try to cloud our vision and turn us down wrong paths.

Not a bad list Such makes a nice addition Ok so I was reading the Obi-Wan quote (scored major points on that one m8 ) and I was thinking, "Yes, he does understand that part of my viewpoint" (happy thoughts) And then I looked down Doh! Back to square one I guess

Rest assured, the garglemesh that comes through your screen makes sense in my head. Right up until someone tries to read it.
Let me try again.
"Do what you know to be right, but don't neglect God and know that there will be temptations along the way to try to take you out of what's right. Though this is true, do what's right anyway...but I just stated the obvious, then, didn't I. :XP:"

Sounds like God has pulled you out of chaos so that you can "Be still and know that I am God". Yep, go to church somewhere, and know that even when you find a church that you feel comfortable in, the issue is really a personal relationship with God---and that comes through really realizing that He IS love, and will always love you and listen to you, protect you and guide you. Just ask Him. Yep, help others when you have the opportunity, listen to them and learn from them. Everyone has value, whether we see it or not. Yep, maintain a high standard for your personal life. Go to school, do your best, be a person of integrity. Not easy to do today, but I think you can handle it! There are online ministries for teens that may help you to fill the gap between whatever local chuch you attend and what you believe in your heart. What has brought me the closest to God , though, has always been the quiet time. I try to take time to watch a sunset, pray, listen, and just praise God for the majesty of what I'm seeing. Maybe I'll sing softly, maybe just talk, maybe just listen, maybe just let the words of a scripture wash over me, or the words of a song---it brings me closer to Him day by day, and I always leave that time feeling loved, at peace, and with more questions! He knows that you are looking for Him. He will find you.
