This all seemed so pointless, and while he searched through a whole lot of nothing, he kept glancing back towards those machines. A part of him was curious, and wanted to try them out...

Well, why not? He might be in the same state of dead as that ghoul that got impaled soon enough.

Mathias stopped his search to go and grab the hazmat suit, putting it on and making sure everything was secure. wrinkling his nose, he then went and Grabbed a clipboard from the wall, and turned to see if the first machine was turned on.

Grabbed a clipboard from the wall, and turned to see if the first machine was turned on.

The Hazmat was secure and in place, though inside felt a little musty...

The OOC

Following the instruction manual:
If you choose to follow the instructions given, please refer to the mechanics below:

  • Each step needs to be cleared in order for success.
  • You will need to pass each step in order to move on to the next. You may roll as many times as you need to succeed, and you do not have to go back to the beginning if you fail a step. Example: I am on Step One. I roll a 1d6 and get a 2. I start the machine and let it prep (Step 2 does not need a roll). I am now on Step Three. I roll a 1d6 and get a 1. I can reroll 1d6 and try step 3 again, until I pass.
  • Match your results to the post below:
Step One: Rolling a 2 or higher is a pass. If you roll a 1, you will need to reroll the whole thing.
Step Two: Doesn't need a roll. Any result is a pass. There is a clock on the wall. You can't fail this one.
Step Three: Rolling a 4 or higher is a pass. Rolling a 1-3 means there is too little FEAR in your material to be viable, and it simply falls apart.
Step Four: Rolling a 3 or a 4 to pass. 1-2 means your material was too small. 5-6 means it was too large.
Step Five: Rolling a 4 or higher is a pass. It's a sequence of buttons after all, and the instructions are vague at best.
  • When you pass all five steps, roll a 1d100 and quote The Escaped!
  • You may try this as many times as you like, but keep in mind that there is a lot of other things to do in the mean time! No matter how many times you try the FEAR disposal machine, you may only roll the 1d100 once.

[ SHOWERS ]

Aurel made his way down two flights of stairs, making a turn to where he knew the showers to be. He was still leaving a slight trail of blue blood where he walked from his dripping fingers but that would soon be remedied.

Once inside the showers, he dropped trou without a second thought, kicking them slightly to the side so they wouldn't get wet. He wasn't wearing anything else, anyway, which was good since his poor wing was still bandaged. Hammer and bag were set beside it.

Quietly, he stopped into the water and sighed, closing his eyes. Jack, that felt good.

+5 HP

He stayed there a good ten minutes, just basking in the warmth of the water and the dirt and grime and blood being washed away. Sure, the bandage on his wing was soaking but hopefully it wouldn't cause any problems. Once he got his fill of the water - or, rather, before his need to find that damn console increased to the point he couldn't enjoy it anymore - Aurel turned the water off and put his pants back on, not bothering to dry off. Bag and hammer were picked up again, this time heading to the supply closet for bandaids.

[ SUPPLY CLOSET ]

Aurel looked down into his filling up bag and sighed. Some of it would have to go. Aurel opened the pack of three blades and put one in his scalpel, leaving it and getting rid of the package itself.

Two boxes of bandages were taken instead, and put in his bag. Satisfied, he backed away, closing the door.

He swiftly bandaged his three fingers and with the other three bandages in the package he reinforced the bandage on his wing - the best he could. OK. Time to kick some console a**. +12 HP

1 Bladed scalpel
1 dull steak knife
1 plastic bag
1 hospital gown

Okay, he was going to do this. Mathias reached towards the lever and pulled it down, waiting for the whirring and clicks that the clipboard told him should occur, to let him know that things were working.

Oh also there was that red light to look out for as well. Pretty hard to miss.

Step one: fail good start

Well nothing happened, so Mathias could only assume that he needed to try again. Pushing the lever back up, he then pulled it down again.

"Come on and vork vhy don't you?" He asked the machine, as if talking to it might get it to turn on.

It totally worked.

This time all he needed to do was wait. Mathias sort of paced back and forth across the floor, glancing at a clock on the wall every once in a while to check his time. He gave it the full fifteen minutes just in case, before continuing to the next step.

Step two: pass

Prepping the material. How exciting.

Mathias went to work finding....parts...to put together.

The parts he put together seemed to hold. That was good, right?

Things seemed to be moving along rather well, or so he thought, at least. Opening the front hatch of the machine as per the instructions orders, Mathias shoved in what he had accumulated, attempted to close the hatch.

It wouldn't close. Woops, too much! He pulled out what he had attempted to shove in, and took a piece away, discarding it over his shoulder.

Step four: fail

That seemed to do the trick. Mathias slid the pile of parts back into the machine, and closed the hatch without anymore fuss or trouble, latching it shut tight.

On to the next step.

Mathias hated buttons. He read which ones to press, but some of them were...well, rather hard to read. In fact, most of it was quite hard to read. Was that a.....

Never mind.

He began pressing buttons, practically at random.

It was no surprise at all that nothing happened.

This was incredibly frustrating. He had no idea if he was just repeating previous sequences or if he was still coming up with new ones.

Either way, nothing was happening.

Mathias hated this. He hated buttons. He hated being here.

Oh well. He'd probably be dead in 24 more hours anyways.

Actually apparently the machine had started up a while back, and Mathias was just pressing buttons for no apparent reason at all.

He kept pressing them because he thought he had to.

The machine did it's thing, and Mathias stopped pressing the buttons once he realized he might actually be messing the contraption up rather then helping it. Things happened, and he rocked on his heels while waiting for the results.
