Nawiri'chiwa listened as others considered the use of avians. While she understood that the loss of one lion to the Firekin might not make or break the battle, she also understood that they were a band of warriors. While she didn't doubt their loyalty to a job well done, at the same rate, she couldn't entirely put trust that . . .when things looked their bleakest, that the Nergui might push through their forces, that one would risk his life to run back to their small, plagued pride. She did not yet know much of the Firekin, and while the loss of one immune member might mean the same to the Kitwana'antara, she also suspected the use of an avian might very well ease their concerns over the plague.
The red coated ones might not know the extent of the illness. Perhaps that was a good thing. They might not have taken the time to speak so cordially if they did know what suffered at the heart of their pride.
"We have many loyal avians that assist us in the Kitwana, and I'm sure a small flock of them might be of better use to our pride than losing an able body." Especially if the pride did decide to pick up and move, to migrate, to try to get further away from the Nergui. Birds could fly far and much more swiftly over land than any one of them on foot. "We would just need an idea of where it is you hail from, and how far a journey it might be." That way they could find and recruit the most reliable. As Jabez said, they wouldn't want to risk one too young or too old. . . or who might not have the stamina for such a trip.
Things seemed to be wrapping up, at least a bit. "We could always use the advice of more seasoned warriors, though that decision goes purely to our Master Warrior Mittere." Dipping her head low to the ground, Nawiri could tell that their conversation appeared to be coming to a close.
"I appreciate you sharing what you know of the Nergui. If you and your kin wish to rest or refresh, we have waters and hunting grounds that are untouched by lions, safe for visitors and guests." It was an offer she would have given anyone, up until the day the Nergui had appeared, but these red coated ones had yet to cause problems. Furthermore, a small part of Nawiri was certain they wouldn't accept such an offer. . . .not many did.
But the Kitwana'antara were a hospitable pride, and though they were sick, she did like to encourage such good tidings. "Is there anything else you may need. . .?" There was much for her to think about, much of her to discuss. If the Nergui were to come. . . .well. . . . at least they were better aware of what they were up against. They could try to plan for a worst-case scenario. Try being the key word and concern.
((Sorry, just feel like things are coming to a wrap. You can ignore me if you wish. . . xD ))

[ That is fine! Will roll for prizes tomorrow then! ]
Veru bowed his head. "No, I believe as long as we're granted access to whatever ground the nergui were on, we'll be on our way. Should we learn anything that you might find useful, a sentinel will be sent over to you."
But as for the immediate preparedness... "Kiowaa," he singled out. She was a bit young, but having grown up in their pride's own medical ward he assumed she knew how to handle herself around sick lions. Also unlikely to lose her s**t, which was a good thing. He just hoped they didn't mind some wide eyed starring, since that seemed to be the only thing she had contributed as of late. "Remain behind for a few days, and advise them however they'd like. Maybe see what can be done about fortifications."
The young lionesses shrunk a bit into the pelt she wore, and nodded her head. Veru migh have put a bit more confidence into the medic's daughter than she did. "Of course...!" she said hastily. "I can explain the logistics of sending flyers to the motoujamii."
"Good," Veru nodded. Although he didn't seem to have particularly warmed up to the idea of avians being involved much at all. "The rest of you, lets see if we have any luck finding where that group went."

Tara stood and began moving away, sensing that numbers were no longer needed, as well as the conclusion of negotiations. If anything else needed doing, should she be needed, she was certain she'd be called. As she paced away, though, her eyes fell on a couple of lions she was not familiar with. She'd grown up in the pride, and it wasn't so big that newcomers or strangers were easily overlooked. She peered closer, trying not to seem rude. Who were they? A younger male, and a grown female, both unfamiliar to her at all. Not even their markings looked at all familiar to her. Eventually though she merely shrugged and walked on. After all, if they were mingling with the pride members, that meant they had to have joined. No lion would be so foolish as to mix with those of Kitwana so casually unless they had chosen to become part of the pride. She'd have to see about meeting them sometime.
((I figured those gods needed a bit of noticing, and Tara needed one more post!))

Avians were probably the best idea. Faster than even a cheetah, but every bit as intelligent as any larger species, their wings would allow them to fly messages in mere days, rather than the quarter or half moon it would take others. Not to mention Mittere had never once heard it mentioned that birds could be carriers of the disease and they certainly weren't subjected to it.
Some of the Firekin looked apprehensive at this suggestion, but even they couldn't deny its merits. She wondered at that. Did they have some sort of past history with birds? Was it merely prejudice? The pink lioness knew that avians were everywhere, and therefore the strangers had to have some living nearby if not right in their pride's lands. Vultures at the least, who would survive off abandoned kills.
She was startled when Nawiri threw the entire issue of war preparations between the two prides right into her lap. She supposed she should have been prepared for it, considering her recent promotion, but it was still far too new. Not to mention the fact that, as the Queen knew well, the lioness blunted her speech for nobody. Not always the best thing where diplomatic relationships were concerned.
Mittere looked to the lioness Veru had spoken to. A red one, as were most of these strangers, and she thought this one to be younger than many others. She took a few steps closer and spoke directly to Kiowaa.
"You and I should discuss the avians and several other points together," the scarred lioness told the stranger. Her tone deepened on the last few words. There were a few questions Mittere had about the Firekin, and she had every intention of getting answers from their...chosen representative.
