:: The Arena ::

The arena itself is a massive structure. The walls are solid for about 5ft, then they are made of magically enhanced, shatter-proof glass that travels all the way to the cieling. It is illumintaed by overhead lighting, but the roof is hinged and mechanically retractable for matches that require flight space. However, there is more than enough room for flight without the roof opened up to the skies. The floor is compacted dirt, and around the perimeter a barrier is laid on the ground and walls. It is a barrier comprised of all the elements, mainly void... that is meshed together like in a metaphysical tight weave. It will absorb and dispose of any magical attacks that get away from the combatants

:: Spectator Stands ::

The stands in the arena, are much like something you'd find in any sports stadium. Bleachers on a staggered incline surround the arena giving anyone who wishes to watch a match or tournament a bird's eye view. Spectators are protected from any stray attacks by magically reinforced, shatter proof glass and a barrier that deflects any magicks gone awry.

Ashen gray locks fall across his violet eyes as he gazes across the stadium to his opponent on the far side, the dissheveled mess hiding two small wings. About his head a light blue sheen can be seen, shining bright despite the lighting of the stadium. A strand of azure orbs floats about his neck just above the collar of his loose grey dress shirt, the depiction of a weaping phoenix upon the back is clear as day.

Two violet wings wreathed in blue flame extend from his back, complimenting the blue chain that is wrapped around his right hand and extended up his arm. An orb of crimson flecked with emerald surges around him in a steady unrelenting pace. His midnight blue cargo pants bulge near the bottom as two boots of a similar color wrapping around his feet.

His two fingers of mithral construction twitched and moved of their own accord, seperate from the rest of his hand, hidden slightly by the chain. Streams of mana flowed around him, passing through his form and through the chain around his arm. Already he had begun, already he had seen the destruction that could be wrought here this day. He began to calmly walk along the ground towards the other end of the arena, a calm about him that was almost unnerving.

Statistics
Incarnum Radiance: Four times per day Torment can produce one of four Auras. The effect lasts 4 rounds. I will clarify that only one aura may be active at a time.

Soulmelds
Crown Power Center: Crystal Helm
This helm is formed from the soul, pure light in a pale blue form that enhances the mind and extends the body. This soulmeld enhances the mental fortitude of the wearer and refracts his form, letting him deflect attacks easier. The Meldshaper can use a point of Essentia to force himself out of the way of an attack or to nullify an attempt to manipulate his mind, if he is aware. Binding this Soulmeld allows the Meldshaper's weapon to affect incorporeal creatures and those usualy not affected by physical weapons.
Feet Power Center: Impulse Boots
These boots grant the ability to avoid surprise attacks, acting on magically aided impulses. When attacked from behind the meldshaper is given a knowledge and an attempt to dodge. Expending an Essentia Point allows the meldshaper to literally leap out of the way of an attack. When bound this Soulmeld gives the ability to dodge traps and spells with greater ability.
Hand Power Center: Phoenix Feather-Bound
This Soulmeld manifests as a long chain with a blade on one end and a weight on the other that only Torment can shape. When bound to the hand it wraps around his fist/palm, wrapping around his forearm when bound to his arm. The arm version allows expenditure of an Essentia point to create a weapon, the hand version allows expenditure for mana generation. When bound to the arm it provides a constant stream of mana at 1/4 a post per post. When bound to the arm it doubles to 1/2 per post. When bound to both the weapon ability is reactivated.

Shoulders Power Center: Wings of Flame-Bound
This soulmeld allows Torment to form to great wings of blue and violet flame from his back. These wings grant flight but with fatigue. Expending an Essentia Point allows him to use the Wing Shards attack, firing off wisps of flaming incarnum to attack the enemy. The effects are the same when placed upon the arms, but weapons become useless. When Bound to the shoulders flight is possible without fatigue and the Wing Shards become more powerful. When boudn to the arms a set of Wing Shards are constantly acive upon his arms, much like spines. When bound to both his wings can take massive amount of punishment, taking on a solid composition instead of bound by magic, also giving him great speed.
Throat Power Center: Arcane Focus
This manifests as a necklace of blue crystals that wraps around the Meldshaper's neck, glowing with light whenever a damaging spell is cast. This Soulmeld gives offensive spells a little kick, but not much. Expending a point of Essentia speeds up spell completion. When bound this Soulmeld gives damaging spells the ability to stun a single target for one round of posting. This does nothing for spells that affect more than one target.
Heart Power Center: The Inferno Within-Bound
This is the embodiment of the link Torment has with his wife. This is not an actual Soulmeld, but it takes up a slot simply because it is that important to him. This fuels the Soul Forge and if Kalie is in danger will warn him of such. The Visage of the Phoenix can react with this "Soulmeld." It manifests as a ring upon his finger and a flame in his eyes.
Soul Power Center: Soulspark Familiar Variant-Bound
This...is Shar. This Soulmeld has no practical purpose in combat, but it cannot be unshaped. Binding is possible for Torment, but not for Shar. Neither Brother can have their souls drained while this Soulmeld is shaped, and they can give off light (blue or red/green) depending on wich one is flesh and which is a Soulmeld. Torment helps maintain concentration and dispel distractions, allowing Shar to focus on his opponent, while Shar gives Torment on tips with fighting without magic. When also linked to the brow it offers 360 sight. If also bound to the brow it offers slight foresight.

-- 35 minutes 'til the battle --


Her metaphysical defenses long ago secured in place like a tight inter-elemental weave about the whole of her being were of a subconcious nature after so many years of existance and use.

Not having to worry about preparing her shielding, allowed this new individual to turn her focus to conditioning her physical vessle for the approaching fight. A being born of magicks still needed to warm up muscles to acheive maximum effectiveness in combat.

An elf. Her ankle length hair was drawn back into a high-pontytail that bobbed behind her like a silken standard. She had been here for a good hour or so now, taking care to thoroughly warm up each area of her body with individual care for each isolation. After she had warmed herself up properly, she had turned to once again accustoming her hand to the weight of a weapon.

Her hand closes about the hilt of the elven sword at her hip, breath escaping in a steady stream from betwixt lucious lips as she draws the blade clear of it's sheath.
Silvered steel glints in the overhead arena lights as it sings through the air and archs downwards in an overhead swipe. She moves the weapon about her in a whirling frenzy of silver, her body flowing with every grace bound movement as if she and the blade were an extension of one another. The familiar weight of her sword causing her body to tingle with anticipation. They had shared much blood in the past and she had nothing to make her think that it would be any different this time around. To watch her move, was to watch a dancer...

Almond shaped eyes glint as if lit from within by some eternally burning flame, a golden haze through a fringe of lace-like ebony lashes. She paces about her end of the arena rolling her shoulders to relieve any lingering tension, her sword drawn and held firmly in her grasp as she scuffs the toe of her boot in the arena sands.

-- It begins... --


Her feet apart in a loose ready stance, her blade is brought up before her chest in a vertical guard, gripped by her right hand, stayed by the left as her eyes follow her opponent's movement as he begins crossing the sands that seperate them.

Crimson strands dance o'er her pale cheek as her bangs frame her doll-like face. She looks so petite... so fragile. Delicate. -- Looks are decieving.

Another Place. Another Opponent. Another Fight. This was her Rebirth! Born anew from the flames of battle, the adrenaline of life courses through her veins awakening in her, purpose.

Mana flares around the archmage as the combined might of his own mana channeling and the extra boost offered by the Phoenix Feather creates arcs of mana that reach from his body to points unknown, disappearing harmlessly into the air. Azure light bursts from the Arcane Focus as the last step of the first spell is completed and Torment fades from sight and all sound seems to nullify from his being. [Essentia Point Used]

Having disappeared the visible effects of the light his Soulmelds are shedding and the mana around him fades from view, but his aura is clearly evident. He seems to pass unseen and without so much as making a single vibration in the air around him. This is not a mere illusion, but a nullification of the ability to perceive him. Light flared up despite this for a single moment, an emerald aura that seemed to streak through the air as Torment's speed increased drastically. [Incarnum Radiance: Speed] The two ends of his chain began to snake out behind him, one a blade and the other a significant weight, the strength in them growing as they spread out as if a depiction of his wake that only he could see. [Essentia Point Used]

Sierra's tail thrashes, kicking up a small cloud of dust as it trails through the sand and she mutters under her breath in annoyance. She closes her eyes and remains in her ready stance... If he wanted to play hide and go seek... that was fine with her.

Mana continues to flow into his Perception Null, cutting off any scents or other trail he might leave behind. A burst of incarnum floods the air around him, and when it fades his very aura and heat pattern seems to fade from detection. [Essentia Point Used] The chains that had been trailing behind him seem to have been stretching, and now with a thrust he darted up into the air and the chains themselves swung up ahead of him. His own speed was amazing as he darted through the skies, but the chains were almost blinding to his own sight. The blade seemed to lengthen as the weight grew, darting out far ahead of him to swipe in from his left with the blade and come crashing down upon her with the weighted end. They made not a sound or left any sign of their passing, a deadly assault by an invisible assailant.

"Found You!~"


Her trap had been set, It had not been curses that she muttered, but rather a softly spoken chant. For him to be able to 'null' her perception he would first have to be able to sway her mind and control over them. Not something easily done with a being as old and grounded as she.

Still... As a cautionary messure, she had conjured up seeking tendrils of her own energy. Letting them lance across the arena forming metaphysical trip wires. She didn't release the energy, instead she used them as guide lines, an extension to her sensory system.

If his ability worked without influencing her mind directly, then this would be what saved her. Because while he may be able to beguile her senses, he could not trick her energies.

And anything that came in contact with them, informed her of his actions against her.... his position... the chains....

The energy lines painted an image in her mind, much like echo-location does for a bat. Letting her know where the obstacles lay.

HOWEVER, should this ability rely on swaying her mind, he would be sorely dissapointed and all too painfully realize that he was clearly visible...

Either way... she would see or sense the weapon nearing her proximity and respond accordingly.


"Aiyish'uhn Dh'erek!"


A pulse of energies would surge through the arena like a shockwave with the elven warrior at it's center as the air in the building became increasingly dense.

An doubled air lance about herself, she let the energies fill the space around her target. It would be as if he'd been thrown from water to mud... his movements slowed to a creeping pace as he tried to 'slug' towards her, his weapon also hindered by the change in air pressure and capacity.

Mana continued to flare around him as he slowed under the effects of the air pressure, but with a flare of mana he seemed to move naturally again. The spell was a simple one; working off the spell energies donated from the chain and his normal capacity he had formulated a Freedom of Movement spell. Any attempts to alter his ability to move or attack would be nullified. Further spell energies began to shape from incarnum as a secondary spell began to form, incarnum flooding his form. [Perfect Meldshaper] Mana formed from the incarnum as the chain seemed to revitalize and a spray of Wing Shards began to spiral around him. These Wing Shards would hide his location within a greater cloud, the shards themselves like a series of small daggers, 25 in number. Detected but unhindered by the increase in air pressure the chains resumed their attack.

The elf watches through her mind's eye in place of her physical ones. A smile caresses her lips as he negates the effects of the shift in air pressure.

With an inward smirk she flexes her will, her left hand that had been held by her blade's edge, staying the weapon, now rotated with a subtle flick outward.


"Eih'yuh'hndan"


The tendrils of energy would be released, reforming about the ball of shards. The energy lines meshed together to form a netted sphere that would encompas the target.... a physically manifested prison. Should the weapons or their weilder try and tear through them, it would act as a tight weave and simply flex with supported elasticity.

The barrier would act as shield of movement both physical and meta-physical....

She had something up her sleeve, for it would be no fun to simply trap her foe. But she wished a moment's observation to see how he would test his new confines.

Incarnum flared around his body as the chain seemed to return to him, pushing outwards and around to create a matrix in the blink of an eye, a cage to hold out the prison. His own body, however, seemed to flare with light as incarnum surged around him. [Essentia Point Used] [Essentia Point Used] Out from his back shot two arms, splitting him right down the spine as another man seemed to crawl from his back and move up to stand on his shoulders. He seemed to be Torment's polar opposite, toned and defined with an obvious strength. He seemed to wear a tunic fit for the desert with a similar helm around his head as his brother's, an iron pendant around his neck, a shaft of light in his left hand, and a pair of huge boots with iron bands around them on his legs. He seemed unaffected by the air pressure as well, though Torment's Aura and the Perception Null also seemed to extend to him and his weapons.

The pair now stood as the Brothers of Soul. A series of arrows blasted out from the staff, adding to the shell as a single blazed forth direct at the barrier between where Shar was 'standing' and Sierra's location. [Essentia Point Used] [Smite Attempt Used] It had enough strength behind it to put a foot diameter hole through a solid block of Adamantium. Right behind it the ends of Torment's chains rushed into to assault the barrier. If any of them got through they would make an assault against Sierra.

When Shar charges an opponent these boots unleash a terrible sonic attack, focusing oppon the opponent he is charging. Expending a point of Essentia greatly enhances the effect. When bound damage dealt stuns the opponent like a magnificent thunderclap.
Crown Power Center: Crystal Helm
This helm is formed from the soul, pure light in a pale blue form that enhances the mind and extends the body. This soulmeld enhances the mental fortitude of the wearer and refracts his form, letting him deflect attacks easier. Shar can use a point of Essentia to force himself out of the way of an attack or to nullify an attempt to manipulate his mind, if he is aware.
Throat Power Center: Pendant of the Juggernaut-Bound
This Soulmeld gives unprecedented prowess in combat. The ability to shrug off blows with the expenditure of an Essentia point makes this a Soulmeld any combatant would gladly shape, but is also decreases overall speed. For the powerful Soulborn that can bind this Soulmeld to his throat power center this speed reduction is absent.
Arm Power Center: Longbow of Souls-Bound
This Signature Soul Forge weapon is formed from a quarterstaff of any type, including the staff section of the Longmace or the hilt of Obelisk or Obelisk Unlocked. Setting a hand upon the center and drawing back an arrow of Soulstuff can be fired forth from this weapon. Expending an Essentia Point makes these arrows nearly infinitely versatile to Shar's will. When bound the Essentia Point is not needed, but one can be expended to create an especially powerful arrow.

Aside from the passive abilities mentioned for Torment that might apply, Shar`Addan has the following effects active:
Essentia Points: 9
Incarnum Defense:Shar can switch between four modes, in which his eyes glow momentarily a different color.
-Gold: Fear Immunity and Pain Resistance enhanced
-Green: Paralysis Immunity-Active.
-Crimson: Immune to Complete Exhaustion.
-Black: Immunity to effects that weaken him Strength wise.
Share Incarnum Defense: Three times per day Shar may extend the current effect to another for 5 posts. Must be delivered by touch, and only one ally at a time.
Smite Opposition:Five times per day Shar can channel the incarnum within him to deliver a devestating blow that can knock any bipedal foe down. If he misses, the use is wasted.

Sierra's lips quirk upwards into a malicious grin. The man was acting in seeming desperation for his actions were not well planned. She couldn't 'see' him visually. He was bared from physical sight by his own methods as well as the barrier she had encased him in... But wrapped within her energies, she had a certain perception for what was taking place. She had no way to know that this second being contrasted his brother in appearance. She simply knew that where there was one... there was now two.

Trapped within a barrier, he had summoned forth aide. Hoping to overpower her trap perhaps? No matter. For the moment... they were both snared within the sphere.

And now they were assaulting it with enough force to blow away a demolition team! Amusing.

Had they taken a moment to inspect the elf's handiwork, they'd realize that the barrier was fashioned of multi-elemental energies. Interwoven like a metaphysical mesh. As it continued to constrict, it only increased in strength and stability. A professional weave, is not easily torn assunder.

The ancient being who had fashioned it smiles as they release their volley... wishing she could 'see' the looks on their faces as they realized the error of what they'd just done... BIG BADA'BOOM!~ The energy would be confined within the sphere... All that force, the kind that could 'blow a whole through solid ademantium' would blow up in their faces.

She waits, still on guard. Would the duo survive their mistake?

Incarnum flared around the more mystically inclined of the two brothers as he threw one arm to each side, the air pressure around them fluctuating as it seemed to reverse for a moment, almost to the point of a vacuum. [Essentia Point Used-Tor] [Essentia Point Used-Tor] The assault that was created by Shar seemed to cease entirely as it hit the sphere, not being redirected back at them while the man dropped down to hang on Torment's wings. The chain seemed to evaporate from against the closing barrier until a pulse of mana and incarnum flooded outwards. The barrier would shatter and explode outwards as the very magic and/or supernatural control was broken by a Soulshatter. This spell was not unlike an Antimagic sphere, save for the fact that when concentration continued it could obliterate a being. This alternate use was not unlike a Dispell Magic effect.

The pulse passed outwards and seemed to dirsrupt everything magical or supernatural in nature, nulling all magical effects for both parties, including the Brothers' soulmelds, outside the small radius Torment had formed with his outstretched hands. Shar was not pleased with having to hang on Torment as such as the mage rushed forward. Sierra would lose them entirely, the 'tripwires' temporarily gone from the pulse. The area of active magic seemed to move with Torment and Shar, though they were effectively unable to do anything beyond that radius.

The elf cursed under her breath as she felt the negatively charged energies pulse toward her. She sensed them as they gathered, giving her the opportunity to release her magicks before they were ripped from her. Good chance that even if she had held on, she was strong enough to maintain the barrier... but why pour so much energy into something that was easily remedied? Dispelling the barrier with the slightest flex of her will, before the soul shatter struck it she laughed.

They had neutralized the fighting field, save for a small radius about them. They were not hard to track. She could not see them physically, but metaphysically it was like they were placed in a spot light. It was not hard to sense where the fields of neutrillity ended and began.


"Well this is hardly fair..."


She mused aloud. These 'brothers' were beginning to get somewhat bothersome in their antics. Only slightly agitated at the game they sought to play, she summons forth a field of void...

"Nahr'voin!"


It was another barrier of sorts... but one that effected everyone on the field in the same manner. The elf blankets the entire arena with the void spell... Nulling anything of magickal property. It would in effect draw any summoned energies into itself which would then serve to reinforce it, dispelling any charms, spells or cantrips... and possibly...soul melds? The barrier would remain in effect until Sierra chose to disband it. The brothers would be forced to face her in a close and very physical fight.

"I see you brothers two..."

The only problem is that she would not sense them, as such supernatural sensory perception was nulled as being supernatural. Furthermore, her attempts to summon up a voidal shield would be in vain, for the field nullified such attempts. She had attempted what had already been done, save for the area inside Torment's small sphere he had established. The effect was not permanent, and would fade eventually, but for now all supernatural effects seemed rather useless.

The Brothers closed on her phenominally fast, the five foot diameter sphere moving with them as a flash of green pulsed from their location. [Incarnum Radiance: Speed] One would think them rather at a loss, but Torment had other plans. As the spell was, he would need to keep his concentration upon it, or lose the effect. In lieu of this he set his Arcane Focus to the task of expending one Essentia Point every few moments (each post) to keep it active. [Essentia Point Used-Tor] Another spell was already being formulated, the chain fueling more incarnum into the effect. [Essentia Point Used-Tor]

((Errm... that kind of sight is innate ability for her. it's something she was born with, not a learnt skill, so it's not nullable... secondly, I misread that and thought the effects faded. Ah well... I can still work with it. However... She'll be able to sense you regardless. I would edit my post in light of the revelation of continued status... but rather, just pretend she didn't try and summon the void. ))
