Requirements: You will need to PRP "researching" up this area (again a prp with your characters just discovering this information in a book is fine), before heading off on this quest. One person will need to be the dungeon master of this quest line: you can have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 characters in this quest. Due to not taking forever, the "Dungeon Master" has control of the pacing: even if not everyone replies, it is okay to go the next round as long as it makes sense from the Dungeon Master's POV.

gaia_crown [ Getting Started: ]

Getting into The Orphic Wildwoods:
- You need to camp out in the Weeping Forest after reading the information. Hunters can enter Halloween as well without a golem (recommended, as the Wildwoods are very golem unfriendly due natural enemies), for a max of 30 minutes.
- Each roll takes 5 IC minutes - students can pretty much park here as long as they need as well as horsemen while Hunters will need to exit and enter back again.
- Basically, all Hunter and Horsemen characters have 6 chances to find the portal. If they don't find it, they will need to leave and come back. Students do not need to ICly leave and come back.
- All players roll 1d100.
- Rolling 50 or less will deposit you in the arctic, surrounded by nothing but snow and black ice.
- Rolling 70 or less will place you in an abandoned city, ghostly winds blowing through the decrepit ruins.
- Rolling 80 or less will lead you to a vine covered building, consumed by green and growth.
- Rolling 81 or higher will let you find the portal! Success! You can now proceed inside.

Almost exactly two hours later, Brenley was ready to find this Orphic Wildwoods and potentially get himself dissipated in the process. He had no idea why he was so keen on the idea of adventure today, but something about the secret little book he had found where he shouldn't have found it and the spirit of the holiday season had lent him more bravado than usual. Had being the operative word. Now that he was making his way toward the Weeping Forest, the boil was starting to have doubts.

He waited until he was already past the first line of trees before he got out his phone and sent a single text.

Seiana_ZI
Text to Ignatius: I'm ready. Looking around.

If he knew Ignatius, he was probably already here.

Bren didn't see the harm in wandering, at least until he noticed a shimmering sheen on one of the trees nearby. They were supposed to find a portal, and that definitely looked... portalish. He approached it, arm raised, and was half sucked inside before he could flinch away. The other side was freezing, even through his thin coat and scarf, and he saw flashes of a barren, snowy expanse before he managed to pull himself back into Halloween. As far as he could tell, that was not where they were meant to begin their search.

Brenley was on time, but Ignatius was a bit early.

Of course, Brenley already knew that.

Text to Bren: about time!

Text to Bren: wonder what we're supposed to find.

Ignatius had to admit, he had been a bit surprised that the book had encouraged starting out in the Weeping Forest of all things. In some ways, it made sense, what with the portals being nearby and all, but he hadn't seen a portal here screaming, "Come find artifacts here," in the past. Though he supposed artifacts wouldn't be obvious. They wouldn't really be artifacts if they were easy to find, right?

Maybe Brenley was onto something. He spotted him enter a portal and so he quickly jogged after, only to poke his head in and back out as soon as he did.

That was definitely not a wild wood.

He actually jumped when he noticed the boil, not expecting to see him so soon after escaping such a dangerously harrowing place. Bren might have been exaggerating things in his head just a little. He continued touching trees to hide his jitters, finding another portal that seemed to lead to an abandoned town. Creepy. He would have stepped through to have a look had he not been searching for something else entirely.

"I think it'll be foresty on the other side," he replied, answering Ignatius's text out loud. "Or at least I hope it will be, otherwise I don't know that I would know to go through." The book had a lot of mentions of forests, but nothing specific on what they might look like. He supposed he would just have to remain optimistic. Bren tried that now, smiling just enough to shift from hopeless to neutral.

When Brenley jumped, Ignatius nearly cackled. He certainly did not seem to be taking this as seriously or gravely as Brenley was, though perhaps that was just because he was excited for some adventure. Once they located this mysterious portal, anyway.

"I would think so. It is called the Orphic Wildwood." Ignatius smirked at Brenley, teasing, before looking for another opening himself. Was this one it...?

Testing it, Ignatius poked his head into the portal and took a look around. Looked green and dense enough. Certainly didn't look like a cold, desolate wasteland that an ice elemental would love, at least. (He preferred silicate sandy plains himself.)

He popped back out of the portal to shout, "Stop moping! This has gotta be it." Ignatius shot Brenley as wide of a grin as he could before jumping through the portal, not really giving Brenley time to argue.

And this was why it had been a good idea to bring Ignatius. While Bren was worrying about how painful his dissipation would be, the elemental was teasing him and leaping through portals when he had no idea what—

"Hey! Um..." Brenley held out his hand, but it was too late. Ignatius was gone.

Expecting to hear screaming and the sounds of woodland creatures tearing limbs from their captives on the other side, Bren hurried after him.

Historical IC background: You won't find it on any map, but all the same, it exists.

Once through the portal, the sky above filters between violet and navy and nowhere in between, a perpetual glittering haze in the air, lights glittering in the corner of your eye. The woods are welcoming and enchanting, but the night is hungry and you best not forget it.

The moon here does not obey the phases; at the entrance it is full and at its center it is new, changing as you progress through winding paths and hidden grottos, through bramble walls and witch's huts, through faery circles and recently abandoned camps with a fire still in embers.

The faery folk don't take kindly to intruders, you know, and the inhabitants of the The Orphic Wildwoods have grown wild with age. Take care, if you seek their spoils.

gaia_crown [ Setting and Rules: ]

- The Woods themselves are deep within another forest, unable to be found through any way but portals. This is where the Dungeon Master comes to play. The Dungeon Master will create a new thread. Now, they will roll stats for this expedition team:
- Roll 2 20-sided dice for each player. List the players ie: 1. Player 1, 2: player 2, etc. Just roll all the dice at once. This is the number of rounds they can take for each player. Also include your own character. Post this stat at the very first post ie: Player 1 has 5 stamina, player 2 has 10 etc.
- Now players can begin to RP. They start at the base of the mountain and must move upwards. Each ACTION they take is 1 stamina point. Once they have used up all allotted stamina points they can go no further/ have to leave the area.
- If their HP turns to 0 they cannot go any further and must portal/pendant out/dissipate.
- If a character runs out of stamina or HP, they must try again from Round 1!

Quote:
gaia_crown [ Round 1: ]

- This round takes place just inside the entrance of the woods, bioluminescent and almost fae-like in appearance.
- All players must roll a 6 sided dice. If any player rolls a 2 or 4, you have triggered a boss! The DM will be in charge of RPing and keeping track of the boss's HP. The boss has 50/ 50 HP and does 5 auto damage every time it is attacked. You can attack it unlimited times within discretion. Attacks go as normal.
-The boss is a vine-covered animal, flesh woven with the plant, often a wolf or a spider the size of one. No one can go any further until the boss is defeated.
-IF NO ONE rolls a 2 or 4, or you have defeated the boss, you may proceed to round 2. If two players roll a 2 or 4, you now have two bosses... congratulations.
- This initial roll does not cost stamina!
- Note that the triggers are 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 6 like other quests!

There wasn't any trouble when Ignatius landed on the other side of the portal. Well, not immediately, anyway.

"See, it's fine! It's just some woods. Let's keep going forward and find us some--"

Ignatius suddenly noticed that most of his vision was taken up by something rather big and kind of not happy looking. Okay, very not happy looking. Also definitely not anyone he knew. Probably a problem.

"Or let's get rid of this thing first."

Yes, good. Everything was fine. Brenley felt optimistic for all of four seconds. Then he noticed the creature.

"Mmhm." Maybe this was the kind of monster that just liked to hit things rather than lock them up and eat their eyes while they were still alive. Maybe it was even friendly. Either way, they were going to have to get closer in order to find out. Hopefully this would be over quickly. "I'll try to distract it from over there," he said, making good on his words as soon as he spoke.

He didn't notice the second creature coming up behind the first.

Yes, Brenley would run distraction while Ignatius would try to get around it.

Or not. It seemed very uninterested in letting him by. As soon as Ignatius had started to try and sneak around it, one of them swirled around and growled at him, however vines growled. Or were those trapped animals under there...

"I got another idea."

Ignatius started with a couple sparks flying between his hands, but it slowly grew, more and more arcs flying between them until it appeared to coalesce into one. That was when he turned his hands out and blasted one of them with as much electricity as possible.

He promptly went backwards, onto the ground.

"It usually works better than that."

By this time Brenley got around behind the creature, he had noticed the second, less enthusiastic creature joining the fray. He had also noticed that he had forgotten his spelled rocks when he had changed his clothes, and although the forest was filled with rocks, the ones nearby were far too large for him to just pick up and enchant.

While he was noticing all this, the creature swiped him off of his feet with a well placed vine.

Seriously, that usually worked better than that. Were these vine things weirdly resistant to electricity or something?

He supposed they were made of vines.

One of the vine versus advanced closer, while the other didn't seem quite as interested. It was still a problem, though. Perhaps he could handle both at once. Yes! That would work. Ignatius charged up some lightning in his hands and blasted it off, hoping it would bounce.

It did.

The first vine creature seemed a bit miffed, but little else. The second roared in his direction. And then the lightning absolutely obliterated a tree.

Yeah, he was thinking these things were rubber vines.

He continued looking for a rock that was somewhere between gigantic and tiny, finally finding one as the first monster leaned down to take a bite out of him. Muttering a spell over it, Bren countered by tossing it into the creature's mouth. He was still running away when he heard a muffled explosion and another angry roar.

Finally! Something actually seemed to be doing significant damage to it. Specifically, brute force explosions.

Well, he couldn't spontaneously enchant explosions, but what he could do is punch s**t in the face. That was what he tried to do, anyway, charging at the smoking vine monster and reeling his fist back.

Unfortunately, the vine creature wasn't that stupid, and it smacked Ignatius away, barely allowing him to get a hit at all.

Hm.

The running had been a mistake. Brenley doubled over at the waist, bracing his hands on his thighs to catch his breath. When the creature attacked, he managed a flailing punch but that was all.
