Bwana had called the pride to join him in the clearing, and had extended the invitation to all walks of life in the Suka'fumo, from the nobles to the groundlings. It was strange for him to call a meeting of such a large scale, but today was not an entirely normal day. Today- the new king came to power. Bwana had come to the conclusion that it was time. He had served his pride as best he could, and he felt it was now time to give Dromio, his heir, his time to shine. However, he knew the change would mean some unrest within the pride. Not everyone believed someone with so little purple should rule their home. It was why he had been so hesitant to leave the throne until now- he had been worried for his son. But Dromio was compassionate and strong-willed. He stood by his beliefs, and Bwana understood that he would make a good king. A different king, perhaps, but a good one.
And sometimes change was needed.
"Thank you all for coming, my friends," Bwana said loudly, "I will not spend much time speaking today- it is not my day to flourish. Please, welcome Dromio as your new king. You have all watched him grow, and many of you know him well. I trust he will make you happy as your new ruler. I have high hopes for him."
Dromio smiled first as his father, before turning to look at the rest of the pride. He had been the one to ask that they do this in the clearing, where everyone was on level footing. He wanted no lion to have to look up at him. "Thank you, father, and thank you all for being here. It is a honor to be your king. As this is my first day, I wanted to share it with everyone: so let us celebrate this occasion!"
There was plenty to suggest a party was at paw: food had been gathered and readied, and the tinkers and costumers had wares ready to share and trade with the rest of the pride. The players had their songs and performances, and the mood was certainly light.
But the wind still howled through the forest surrounding them, the ominous rustling of leaves never too far out of mind.
Quote: The king has finally decided it's time to step down as the ruler of the Suka'Fumo, and his son, Dromio, has been named the new king. - Pride members may react to this however you see fit! - Dromio and Bwana are open to interaction - Old-school nobles may be upset with change, given his light amount of purple. - The new king has a non-purple mate! - Games will be played in celebration, most will be roll based. - The pride has been feeling uneasy as of late- the forest seems more alive than ever, and it's not coming from the groundlings. - A couple important things will happen in this RP! - Rogues are welcome to come play. - OoCly, prizes will be given out for participation. They are not allowed to leave the Suka'Fumo. - Prizes won here do not count against other contest wins - PM me questions! (not the mule... I can't get into it) I stole this set up from Saf, so thank her! =D

Braith had come to the gathering, just as everyone else in the pride had. A growing girl still, her cublike curiosity was starting to turn into a genuine thirst for knowledge and understanding of everything around her. So when the king called a gathering of the pride she was naturally one of the first to arrive. Now she sat attentive, ears forward and green eyes bright. A change of ruler? She knew the king had cubs that were old enough to take over, but she had never really concerned herself with it before now. The king was the king, after all, and as a cub she had never really thought the title would pass on. Now, of course, she knew that even kings got old and tired and needed to step down from the job eventually.
Her attention turned to the new king, Dromio, and took in his appearance. Being mostly purple herself, she was looked upon with frequent smiles and got a lot of attention from those in the pride. She was a Scholar, though, not the most lofty of rank, although they were still well-respected. Dromio was mostly white, like a few of her siblings, and while she had grown up with parents who heavily favored those with the purple coats, she didn't hold very strong feelings one way or another towards those who weren't as lucky as she. Besides, she thought to herself as she gave the new king another once-over, he had a rather handsome coat.
The wind tossed the leaves around that had fallen from the trees, but she paid it no mind for the time being. Instead she grinned as Dromio began the celebration and she stood, her tail flicking with interest.

Parisette had gotten there early, her eagerness unable to be contained. She hadn't known what the announcement would be, but she knew it would be big; her father didn't call meetings about nothing. Not to mention, the coming together of the pride meant that she would get to see everybody and preform for them.
Her normally blue pelt was adorned in a multitude of colours, thanks to her Artisan daughter who was very gifted at created fur dyes. She had quite a few performances that she wanted to perform but first she was so excited to hear what the announcement was.
When her father began to talk, a smile bloomed across her face and she began to bounce with excitement. "Congratulations to the New King!" She called out cheerfully as Dromio announcement the celebrations. She had always known that Dromio would succeed her father, but to see it in person was so exciting for Parisette. Her little brother would make a good king.
She shot her father a bright grin. She was completely unaware of the ominous rustle of the forest.
Parachichi stood near the edge of the group, her posture reserved and cautious. She was excited to hear the news, but she didn't like big crowds. She was also disturbingly close to the forest; but that was because her big sister was standing at the edge of the forest and she wanted to be close to her.
"You ok, 'ChiChi?" Aureliana asked, knowing her mute sister was always cautious around the forest.
Parachichi nodded cautiously, obviously not thrilled to be near the forest at the present moment but she stayed there.
When the announcement happened, Parachichi smiled softly but called out no sound. A celebration sounded fun...but she might not stay for the whole thing. She really hated crowds. Her eyes darted around at the crowd, distasteful.
"Don't even think of disappearing, 'ChiChi," Aureliana scolded gently and laughed at her sister's disgruntled expression. The groundling had always been a free-spirit and she loved the forest. She rarely came up to the main pride, preferring to frolic in the forest with her other fairy-folk but today was a special occasion.
The forest had felt...weird...recently, but that was ok. The forest was temperamental; she was sure there was nothing wrong. Surely it was just having a mood swing.
Aureliana giggled in excitement. "C'mon, lets get into the celebration!" Aureliana encouraged, nudging Parachichi into the crowd.

Braith glanced over as her twin arrived and she smiled brightly. The only physical difference between her and Elfleda were their eyes, but in personality they were like night and day. Elfleda was more of the traditional purple lioness, well aware of her beauty and stature within the pride, where Braith was more concerned with knowledge and learning. Not to say her sister was dumb, of course. Oh no, Elfleda was a quick girl who knew what she wanted in life.
"It's very exciting," she said as the others cheered for the new king. "I didn't know this was something that would happen with the king still in fairly good health, but it's his call. Oh...the ex king," she said, amending her statement. She looked back at the new king, a little grin on her face.
"He's a bit pale for the king," she added, knowing her sister was very into the whole purple thing. "But he's very handsome. Just like Mama is very beautiful." Their mother had quite a bit of white to her pelt but she was still a stunning lioness, and the same held true for Dromio.

The Scholar had been curious ever since he'd heard the rumors. The heir was not nearly as purple as his father. Truly, Bwana was an impressive lion, with his coat of deep purple and eyes of gold that popped out. As he looked upon the new heir, he gave a quiet nod. "He already looks a good one... Not much purple, but..." He turned to his mate, smiling. "Looks can be deceiving." As much white as young Dromio had on his pelt, he also had as much potential. Sure, he was yet unproven, but that was for time to decide. If things went bad, the pride would handle it aptly. Until that time... He didn't think they should interfere much, if at all. He shot a glance as the wind rustled the trees, his smile vanishing into a frown. Unease had been plaguing him, but he was no seer, so he had no explanation. What was going on?
The lioness, very unlike her mate, was uneasy from the beginning. Even before Bwana had formally stepped down in favor of his son, she as shifting around. "Something's not right, Morcant... I can feel it..." Smells on the winds... Some strange, some familiar... Some very familiar. She could smell two very familiar scents, and she knew they wouldn't be here if something wasn't wrong. She nudged Morcant, looking over her shoulder, away from the trees. "Look... They came home... This can't be a good sign."
When Morcant looked where Tegan indicated, he was confused by the sight of the two cream lions. Who were they, and why was their presence not good?
If she had her way, Karniela would never have returned. The lives of acting and crafting had never appealed to her, and the life they'd been born to had REALLY never appealed to her. She could have been a guard very easily, but a curiosity about the world had gotten in her way. What she found beyond was far more interesting to her. She had only come back now because Zachariel had found her and brought her. "You had better be right, Zach..." She shot him a glance, frown on her face, before looking over... And displeasure melted away when she saw not only Tegan, but the look on her face. There was no over-exuberant joy, no silly attitude befitting a Groundling. There was fear and worry. She hurried over, checking her sister over. "Tegan! What's wrong? What happened? Are you alright?" She eyed Morcant. "Who is HE?"
Contrary to his sisters, Zachariel was incredibly mellow. Despite the power he had to his muscles, he was a lion of peace. In his travels in the Roguelands, he spoke of the gods, and how all deserved respect, but none above Mkodi. It was something he felt didn't quite fit in within the pride. Not because nobody BELIEVED, but more because he didn't want to exist under a false title. While his sister rushed, he calmly walked, though his eyes revealed his own worry. This was, indeed, very unlike Tegan. He had never known her to be fearful, but an innocent form of bold. Or, another way to put it... She didn't normally know how to be afraid. He glanced at the other lions as he got up to his sister, then lay his eyes upon the male with Tegan. Who was this, indeed?

Dulce'Carmella hadn't known why such a big meeting had been called, but she had brought her finest items. Seashell necklaces, sashes of furs.. It had been a productive few moons. Dromio had professed his love for her, and the items she'd been finding were perfect for her creations.. This might have been the best time in her life. She could hardly contain her excitement.
Once she was set up, she looked around at the gathering pride members. It was amazing how many members there were. She hadn't realized the amount until they had all gathered. She smiled, and looked up at the purple lion who had gathered with Dromio. Yes she knew Bwana.. Or of him, really. Her Dromio's father stood tall and proud. He had something interesting to say by the look in his eyes.
She listened intently, and his announcement made her nearly squeal with delight. She smiled, her eyes lighting up. Oh how Dromio deserved such a title. He was such a brave, loving lion.. She knew he would do the pride well. She cheered with the rest of the pride, genuinely happy for her love. She ignored the naysayers, not letting them ruin her pride for Dromio. Her heart fluttering in her chest.
"Long live the king!" She cried, cheering with the rest.

Hinekiri had gathered with the rest of the pride, her head craned to see her father. She looked around the gathering spotting her siblings scattered among them half and full sibling a like. When her father announced that he would no longer be king she felt a smile grow on her face. She was happy for her younger half brother that he would now be given his time to rule, but really she was most happy that her father would now have more time for himself. Hinekiri had just had her second litter of cubs and it made her happy that her father would be around more to see his grandchildren grow.
Her smile was from ear to ear as the announcement rang through the pride, she could hear the whispers of some who were unhappy with Dromio's colours but Hinekiri didn't care her brother was now king. When her sister Parisette cheered out for their brother Hinekiri followed suit "Here here!" she bellowed. She moved in the groups trying to catch her father's eye, she wanted to give him her well wishes.
When the announcement reached Kei's ears he felt a wave of emotions wash over him. The first and strongest of which was happiness. Sure he knew that his parents were likely to be unhappy with the decision after all the new king was not as purple as his father, there would be question on whether or not he could do the job as well as his father had. In Kei's view the decision was a great one, he hoped that the new King would make it so less purple nobles weren't looked down on quite as much they currently one, not that Bwana had ever encouraged such behaviour but with a king with a white base it would be harder to pass the same judgements.
Kei began working is way through the crowd, he didn't really know what he was looking for but as he moved he did spot his mother and the twins not standing far off, he considered coming up and joining them but hung back for a moment trying to gauge their reactions from a distance.

Once the celebrations were underway, it didn't take long for Bwana to move away from his son, to go mingle with some of the members of the pride. It was a bit strange not to be the king anymore, but he imagined very little would really change. He still had his family and his mate, and he couldn't have been happier. He was glad to be able to retire, rather than get killed and pass the crown along that way.
He found his way over to his two daughters, almost immediately spotting Hinekiri and Parisette not too far from the main circle. He had heard them, too, which he appreciated. Dromio had a different mother, but they were all still family. Support was needed. "Hello, my dear daughters," Bwana said merrily, "how are you both doing?" Hopefully they would be able to enjoy the festivities, too. Now that he wasn't always on the move, dealing with the workings of the pride, he was looking forward to being able to spend more time with his offspriing. Of course, the depended entirely on how much time they wanted to spend with HIM.
He did not want to be that annoying father who was always around, poking his muzzle where he didn't need to.
Dromio was happy to hear the cheers for him, though he also noticed that some didn't seem quite as happy. But that was alright- he knew it wouldn't be a one hundred percent sort of thing- there would be lions who needed more time, and others who were just unsure in general what a lion with his coat would mean for the pride. He hoped, though, that eventually it wouldn't matter what color the lion had on his pelt when he became king. Or when she became queen.
He was happy to work for that future.
He was going to move around and speak to as many members of the pride as he could, when he was completely distracted by the voice of someone he knew very well. Grinning from ear to ear, the new king turned to look at Dulce, who was celebrating with the others.
"Dulce!" he hummed, completely forgetting that whole 'decorum' thing as he ran over and gave the female a nuzzle, "my friends! Please let me introduce to you: your new queen!" He bellowed happily, too caught up in all the fun of it to really consider what he was doing.
Meanwhile, Lalaith was watching everything with a sense of wonder. He wanted to make sure he got all the information down, so he could pass the information along later to new members and new litters. That was his job, wasn't it? To teach! And above everything else, he loved to teach the history of the pride. Still, he hadn't expected to see such a large moment in history for himself- a new king coming to power was indeed something worth remembering. He didn't know what would happen with the male having a white coat, but he was nervous about it.
Then again, he was nervous about everything.
He spotted Parisette near her father, and he felt his heart skip a beat for a moment. She was RIGHT over there! After their talk, he really didn't know what to say, but he did want to see how she was doing. It seemed... polite? He wasn't sure. Awkwardly, he looked down at his paws, dancing on them from side to side for a bit.
Lorne was happy to see the festivities kicking off. He really didn't care what color coat the king had, and it was the last thing on his mind. Of course he knew about the purple shtick, and how a lot of lions thought only they could be in the higher classes, but he had never subscribed to the theories himself. Having come from another pride, he knew perfectly well that it didn't matter what color you had in your pelt- anyone could rule if they had the mind and heart for it.
That was really all he cared about.
Wasting no, time, Lorne beat his paws against a nearby log, using it to help him keep rhythm before he burst into a cheerful song. He was more than happy to sing a tune for the pride- they were celebrating, weren't they? He knew other players would be holding contests and games, too, though he wasn't too worried about being upstaged.
He had his own plans, naturally.

Fabius watched the others in the gathering with some curiosity, but he was really only looking for one lioness, his mother. What the king had to say was all well and good, but the young male did not really care who ruled so long as Fabius could be his mother's favorite offspring. The young lion spotted his mother and started toward her. He would only socialize with those she wished, so he had to get to her before someone decided to talk to him. He was quite happy when he got to Juitris' side.
Fabius settled himself beside his mother with a proud baring. "Greetings, mother. You are just as beautiful as ever today." The male purred and gave her a smile. His mother was PERFECT or so he thought. And he did not care what anyone said, she was not white, she was just a very pale purple. He would hear nothing against her beauty or her personality. He might talk to others when his mother was not around, but he would not be anything but as standoffish as her when he was in her presence. He was determined to make her proud of him.
Rouge-Gorge Bon-Garçon was just a cub she was only partially aware of the whole royalty thing and what being a noble or a royal would mean. She did not really care much either. She went bouncing around the gathering, trying to find someone to play with. She paused with the old king started to speak, looking up at him in awe. He looked like her, and it always made her stare in amazement. She started creeping forward even as the new king started speaking. By the time her uncle was done speaking she was trying to sneak up behind the two.
Rouge reached out a paw every so slowly to try to poke the old king's tail. She wanted to touch it, but she wasn't sure what she was going to do after she did touch the tail so much like her own. Her little tail flicked back and forth as her paw found soft fur and she purred happily. She had touched it! She put her paw down on top of the tuft to try to trap it. She wanted to keep it and play with it. Of course if the dark lion it was attached to looked at her, her little plans would change in an instant.
Yofiel trotted into the gathering with her guest the crafter Seiki. The purple, gold and black noble lioness was newer to the pride, but she knew who the king was and had seen his heir around. She had never spoken to the heir, but perhaps she would worry about fixing that later. For now she was more worried about making sure that her guest was out of trouble and got some advertising for his costuming and crafting work. Seiki made such wonderful things and she wanted everyone to see his works and know he was working from her den at the moment.
Yofiel was really hoping her friend would stick around and keep her company longer. She did not dare to call it hoping for a mate, but that was what it really was. She was lonely and missed having a family. Just having him around had eased it to almost nothing. If he stuck around, maybe she would have cubs again, then again, she did not feel the need for that at the moment. It was nice to have such a peaceful arrangement with this dear friend of hers. She would enjoy what she had for now and help him make connections to trade his wares. She could dream about family things later.

The Queen watched the ongoings with a content smile. Well, former queen, she supposed, but she was still happy. Her son was taking the pride and would do a good job with it, she hoped. No, she knew. He was a good boy, and he had far better sense than his father.
The Gods be willing.
She smiled and shook her head, sitting down nearby but not exactly leaping into conversation. Beside her stood Kijembe, guard of the royals and someone whose job was largely kept secret from the rest of the pride. Mostly, he worked as a healer, and stuck to himself.
"You should join the festivities, Kijembe."
"Let the revelers," Kijembe said quietly, not much for words. He did look at Kalenda, frowning seriously, "I am ill at ease."
"You're always ill at ease, my friend," she sighed heavily, but no longer pushed the subject. She knew better, and let him do his job as he saw fit.
Leta was excited for the gathering, but slightly concerned about his position in the royal household. He was proud of being an attendant to the King and Queen! With the new prince becoming King... would he lose that distinction? Would he become attendant to the former king, or leave Bwana's service to serve Dromio? Oh Gods, things were complicated and confusing, but thoroughly exciting.
Adelpha, Grumio, Hermia, Lavache, Philario, and Tullus were all present as well.

The ever bright lioness looked up at her name. She had been watching him anyway, so when he looked at her their eyes met. She smiled, and felt her heart almost skip a beat again. She wasn't going to approach, not wanting to cause a scene.
The pride, being the kind to hold purple to such high regard, was something she knew well. There was no need to cause a scene, merely to give him a bit of affection. But then he surprised even her, and announced her as his queen. She felt her eyes widen, and she gave a little "eep" from her throat. She hadn't been expecting that.. Though she was swooning at how romantic and amazing her mate actually was. He wasn't afraid, he wanted to show her off.. That was something she could get used to.
"I..Uh...Dromio." She said softly, nuzzling into him, bewildered at the thought of using words right now. Everything happened so quickly, and she felt her paw rise to clutch at the white fur over her throat. "I hope I can pull this off.." She whispered as they were close together. But she looked up and smiled, reassuringly.
She'd have to have been death to not hear the audible gasp that some took. A few eyes were on her, and they were scathing. Not understanding what had just happened before them, it seemed that they were sure her pelt would bring their demise. She had to show them she could be a good queen.. She just had to.

Parisette cast Hinekiri a bright smile as she heard and spotted her sister in the crowd. Parisette was thrilled with her rather...huge family. She loved these big events in which she could finally see them all!
"Daddy!" Parisette greeted him warmly, eyes dancing with joy. "Oh I am doing wonderfully! This is great news. Now you and your Queen can enjoy your retirement together," she held no illwill to Kalenda, despite her not being her own mother. Really, Parisette rarely held ill-will to anyone. It just wasn't in her blood. "I am so pleased for Dromio!"
Her comments trailed off when Dromio addressed the crowd again, and she gasp. "Oh my!" She giggled. "It appears love has struck Dromio quickly! A new Queen!" She hadn't been expecting that! Oh my, oh my. She grinned.
A flash of green caught her eye and she glanced towards it, spotting Lalaith easily. Green was not the most common colour in the pride, and he was so very vibrant. She smiled at him, and motioned for him to join their little group. She didn't really consider that it would be odd to introduce her...well, she wasn't sure what they would be called... to her father and sister.
Parachichi awkwardly moved through the crowd, trying not to bump anyone or get in anyone's way. She really was the most awkward around crowds. She knew that the festitivities would start soon, so she nuzzled Aureliana softly, and bid her sister fairwell, disappearing to the outskirts of the pride to set up her wares for sale and interest.
She had brought a collection of dyes, some feather crowns and a few little pendants. She was more proficient with dyes than trinkets but she enjoyed doing them all. She smiled, and carefully began arranging her items.
Aureliana rolled her eyes as her baby sister fled the crowd. "You can't run from people forever, ChiChi!" She called out in warning. Someday she'd have to hang around people enough to form some sort of connection...seriously.
She sighed dramatically, and glanced towards the growing drama that was her half-uncle's specticle. She wondered if he even realised the drama he was causing to the pride. She raised a brow.
Aureliana didn't care about who had purple on her. She had purple on her! She could have been a noble! But ugh. That would be so damn boring for her. She wanted to be wild and free; so what did it matter to her that the new Queen had no purple? Good for her. Break the mold.
