It was a good moping day for a particularly mopey little colt. The sun was out and all the other foals were playing and he was sitting beneath the shade of a tree. He didn’t really like all that sunlight, did weird things to his see-through-ness and his natural glow all but vanished. He liked his glow. It was special.
So this little colt wasn’t really content, but he certainly was going to pretend to be, sitting all alone while watching other kids play, idly drawing in the dirt with his hoof. Not like an aloof young man like him needed friends, no siree.

Candy Dandy found sunny days to be one of the best things in the world. Everything was bright, and phonies came out to play. Best of all, she could go outside and let the sunshine warm up her mane!
She sighed, feeling the sunlight warm her curly locks. Being cooped up indoors was no fun, unless she was working on an order. But even workers needed breaks.
It was then that she passed by a shady tree, and saw a colt sitting all alone. He looked...glowy, and Candy remembered that she had once met a foal that did the same thing. So naturally she trotted over and stopped in front of the blue foal, saying "Hiya! That ghostly glow makes me think you are an Tacquita babben!"

It was rather startling that someone would just come up right to him, normally people left him alone. Or, at least, he chose to think people left him alone because it was much more tragic that way.
“Indeed. And your pinkness makes you my aunt. One of many.” Keeping track of such an impressively extended family was such a chore. If only his grandfather hadn’t been so prolific. “It is a pleasure to meet you, aunt…?” He prompted her for her name. Like he could keep track of them all!

"Candy Dandy! And that's right!" She was very excited that he knew they were related right away. Though she found that much of time, she was related to the phony she was talking to.
Her father had many...associates.
"It's nice to meet you too!" She was unsure of his name, but would ask in just a moment. There was a far more pressing matter to attend to.
"How come you are sitting over here all alone?" It seemed strange that a young foal like himself wouldn't be joining his fellows in the games that overtook the park.

The young colt lifted his head, eyes closed but proud still of his most gloomy and noble (don’tthinkaboutTACOdon’tthinkboutTACO) heritage.
“My name is Revenant. And I am over here because…” His head lowered, frown pulling at his face as he looked out at all the happy little phonies playing and that sort of boring (exciting!) looking thing. “Because I am far too serious to goof off like that. I need to brood and stuff.”

"Too serious? Why, you're just a foal! You're far too young to be gloomy!" She sat next to Revenant, watching the foals.
"Perhaps you are just scared to talk to them?" she ventured, not looking at the little colt. "Or maybe you are worried they aren't gonna want you to join in? I've been there. It's no fun. But I thought up a couple of ideas to get to know phonies. Break the ice, ya know?"
She kept the conversation tone light, though she was searching for answers to serious questions. Candy couldn't let her nephew feel alone.

Yes, he was intensely serious. He had a gloomy notebook and wrote with a feather quill (even though it was very difficult). But he was also a studious young man, so maybe some seriousness could be set aside.
“I am not scared. I am the ghostly one after all. See-through. Glowing. Typical frightening traits. So no, I am not scared in the least.” He spoke like he was so very sure of himself, head tipped up.
“But… if you have something to teach, I will willingly learn.” And not at all because his aunt was the first person to talk to him since he sat under his tree, oh no siree.

"Well, there is always opening with a joke." she said, looking at the ghostly foal "But you are more of the 'serious type" she added the hoof motions to indicate quotation marks, though not to make fun of him, more to be silly.
"Oh! Or there is this!" she said suddenly, reaching into her bag. She revealed a kerchief filled with small yellowish cookies.
"They are lemon tea cookies." she said, popping one into her mouth and chewing happily. "One of my favorite things. You could offer them to those foals. I bet they would be so grateful, and you can talk to them about the cookies before you get around to introducing yourself. Then it isn't like you are forcing yourself on them."
She held out the kerchief to Rev. "Whaddaya think?"

Revenant did ‘joking’ just about as much he did ‘smiling’ and ‘goofing around’. He was a very serious little colt and had lots of gloomy things to write. But he looked from the lemon tea cookies to the other playing foals and briefly considered it.
“So… I just bring to them the cookies. But we’re in the same class, they know who I am, I don’t need any introductions.” The little colt nodded, his ‘stern’ look ruined as he continued to watch them play and have all sorts of (really exciting looking) boring play. He hesitated before managing to look back to Candy Dandy.
“But I suppose for the sake of your lesson, I can manage to bring them cookies.” Not at all because he really wanted to play, too.

"Maybe they have a hard time remembering your name since they have never talked to you." she insisted, giving the little colt the cookies. "And even then, everphony needs a reminder sometimes!"
Her smile was genuine, and hopeful. Maybe these foals would draw Revenant out of his shell!

Revenant hedged, eyes glancing between his aunt and the playing foals. He actually managed a little smile, the cookies carefully placed in his side bag before he stood up.
“I shall take your advice with solemnity,” the little colt said with stately dignity (or, at least, what he thought was stately dignity), before beginning to trot out towards the foals. About three steps away he’d pause, turning around quickly to trot back and hug his aunt’s leg.
“Thank you, auntie,” he whispered, with a lot less ‘stately dignity’, before getting his little flank out of there before he could do something else embarrassing.

Luafien I think we can say this is just about done? Maybe one more post from you? Candy watched him hesitate, then take the cookies with him. He managed to maintain his composure and dignified way of speaking, though his aunt knew from experience that he was probably nervous about going over there.
When he returned to give her a hug and a whispered thank you, her cheeks turned rosy as she wrapped a hoof around his little body. "You're welcome Revenant." she said simply, not wanting to make him go through something mushy. He didn't seem like the kind of foal that would appreciate that. Instead she watched him gallop off to his potential friends, torn between watching him to make sure he was ok and trusting that her plan would work and leave him happier than before.

Revenant tried to appear to not be the mushy type, but under his veneer-thin layer of aloofness he very much enjoyed it, and was so grateful for Candy Dandy’s encouragement and wisdom. He was a shy boy, and the little leverage of the cookies made it easier to talk to the other foals. He could hand out treats and watch their faces light up, hear them laugh and ask him to play along, too.
They were just cookies and they spread so much happiness. Sure later that evening he’d get lost in the forest with those new friends of his after a game of hide n seek went wildly out of control, but it was wholly worth it.
