The Bahari'mtoto have always assumed they were 'alone' as Coastal lions. With the exception of the lions that dwell close to the shores such as the Stormborn and the Pirates, they had never been aware of the Islands that existed on the horizon, shrouded in fog and cloud. While this was not the result of magic or godly intervention, and merely a case of weather conditions, they had always assumed that they were alone... However all of that changed when the tsunami attacked.
Alas, when the Tsunami attacked, the chaos and uncertainty surrounding their own pride had caused them to miss the fact that the horizon had changed. In fact, this ignorance continued for quite some time and even as the years passed the lions failed to recognise what lay on the horizon. Perhaps it was familiarity and a laziness when it came to observation, but it was only when the leopard washed up on their shores that they realised.
...They had neighbours, and they had been sitting in front of them this whole time!
Alas, uncertain as to whether these neighbours were friends or foe, the Pride Leader made his instructions very clear. None were permitted to cross the small distance between the pride lands and the islands until the intentions of these neighbours were made clear.
From that point on the leopard was not their first visitor as it seemed all the islands had had the same idea - one by one each colony came ashore, and with them, they brought horror stories of the same tsunami that struck the Bahari'mtoto.
They sought help, both in blood and resources and while the Bahari'mtoto were still recovering their own numbers, they would not turn their backs on those who were arguably their kin...
OOC Notes:
This is the introduction of a new 'location' in the Bahari'mtoto pride that will expand the lands and increase the population somewhat. Your soa will be free to live and move between these locations and with the simplified joining policies, may now even have come from there if you want them to!
IC Notes for Pride Members:
1. Your lions may all see the islands now that the 'fog' around them has cleared.
2. No lions are allowed to approach these islands at the moment as it's deemed unsafe.
3. Your lions may remark on having seen all five of the 'washed up' SoA, note that the leopard was first, the cheetah was second and the three remaining lions appeared around the same time.
4. These islands are 'new' to the pride, they have always been shrouded in fog/cloud on the horizon and as such, they were never know to have existed!
5. When the islands 'open' to the pride, you can RP on them and/or move to them if you wish to. |

[-Story Contest-]Note: This Lion will require roleplay with the Pride Leader to establish trade connections etc with the Bahari'mtoto. This will be in the form of a group RP and will count as the JRP as well. After the tsunami, the island lions were left devastated both mentally and physically. With their resources and bloodlines depleted it was highly likely that they were going to die out. To make matters worse their neighbours had suffered equal losses, with the neighbouring lions, the leopard and cheetah colonies, each suffering heavily. As such it was impossible to ask for help and in the midst of chaos and grief, logic couldn't be heard either.
Thus one lion stepped forward, taking charge where others would not and declared that he knew how to resolve the issues. By uniting the colonies and the neighbouring lion pride he was certain that there would enough blood and resources for the pride to survive.
...Alas, while his pride agreed with him and followed him towards their neighbours, they were met with considerable hostility. With no other options left than blackmail, the male had no option to kidnap and hold the current leader's sister until he would meet their demands...Start: Now!

Was this lion always a bit of a warmonger or is he simply misunderstood? Was he always a leader, and heir, or has he simply risen up in a time of need? Tell me his story.
Before the tsunami, Kacob was head of the guard. In their state of relative peace, the guard functioned mostly as a police force. Even then, they found they had a good bit of free time on their paws.
In his spare time, Kacob studied the mythology and legends of his people. The heroic epics were always his favorite, but he’d devour most anything. He tried to take their lessons to heart… with some success. No one could accuse Kacob of cowardice or indecision. And he wasn’t exactly an idiot or a fool.
But he was never the sharpest thorn on the bush, and certainly not the wisest. He considered himself just and practical (most would agree). And if he was a bit impulsive and shortsighted… well, he always owned up to his mistakes and imperfections.
In the wake of the tsunami the royal family and council were decimated. With the ruling class all but destroyed, Kacob stepped up. As captain of the guard, he said, he would lead them while the heir and council collected themselves. This was a temporary arrangement, but having had a taste of such great power, will he really be able to give it up so easily when the time comes?
The kidnapping was an act of desperation (most likely one at least partially inspired by the epics he’d studied). The colonies needed to unite, and they needed to unite now. If the head of the other colony of lions had no interest in granting him an audience, Kacob would simply have to make him interested.

Kacob stood silently by the enclosure. Though his body was still, his mind was not. He ran through the mental list of orders he’d given, and those he’d need to give.
Under no circumstances was the captive to be harmed, he’d told the guards. Anyone who so much as touched her without sufficient reason would be punished. She was not to be mocked, ridiculed, or treated like a common criminal; she was a member of their neighbor’s royal family, and would be treated as such.
He glanced briefly at the bedding she’d been provided. He hoped it was at least similar to the sort she was used to. Kacob suddenly wondered what her colony’s diet had been. Giving her the choicest cuts of the fish they caught wouldn’t mean much if that wasn’t what she was used to eating. He frowned. Kacob opened his mouth, shut it, and opened it again, “If you find the meals you are given to be inadequate, please let me or one of the guards know. I’ll see what can be done about it.”
He was quiet again. Then another concern occurred to him: though she’d been assured that she’d not be harmed, there really wasn’t any reason she ought to believe them, was there? Kacob frowned again. He really hadn’t thought this through…
And what about mental stimulation? Entertainment? Damn. He really hadn’t thought this through…
“Lady?” Kacob asked, turning his head to look at her, “Would you like to hear a story?”

Was this lion always a bit of a warmonger or is he simply misunderstood? Was he always a leader, and heir, or has he simply risen up in a time of need? Tell me his story. Freyr has always been a rather quiet lion, straight from birth. As well as strong. It was expected when he grow up that he would take the rank of a guard for, though he was quiet, he was fearless and enjoyed to spar with his fellow youngsters. He would often make games revolving around war and rescue. Thus it was a surprise when he decided to be a builder. Though he loved his little games, he aspired more to create things with his own two paws. To fix and build things others could use.
Left without parents at a young age when both drowned during a storm, Freyr has kept mostly to himself. He feels guilt over the situation, knowing it was his favorite toy that had killed them when it had washed out to sea. Preferring to keep his troubles to himself, he grew up barely talking, only saying the bare minimum when asked a question. Over time everyone learned to leave him alone, thinking this was what he wanted.
In his heart he was broken. And lonely. But wasn't sure how to convey these emotions to another.
The tsunami gave him his chance to show them what he could do.
With his family's history ringing in his ears, the big lion stepped forward, offering to take charge where no one else seemed to want to. No one else would suffer on his watch, if he could help it. So with his rarely heard and booming voice like the thunder that sometimes shred the sky during the rains, he spoke of his plans and willed the others to join him. When it came down to blackmail to get his point across, Freyr made no hesitations. He had no intentions of harming her, so a little persuasion was harmless. In his eyes, anyway. He felt bad about it, but sometimes things like that needed to be done to do the right thing.

Lion's Name: Safi`Wimbi -- ' Fresh Wave'
Personality Blurb: Safi had been named rightly 'Fresh Wave', with his coming into leadership over the people of their island he had been forewarned by a Seer that changes were on the horizon. These changes he was not sure of, but he grew with confidence and with a way with decision making. He has grips on reality and tries to boost his people by his choices and that same realism. Where there were changes he promised himself that he would do all he could to thrive.
In simpler terms: Safi is a born leader, he carries himself with pride and a regal stature. He's confident, calm and collected. He is a forgiving soul and through tough times tries to realize what happens, happens. With that in mind, he will take into consideration the many versus the few. His group of pride members that had made the Island their home is and will forever be his priority.
Will he live in the Bahari'mtoto or back on the Islands: Move back to the Islands. They have always been his home and though they fall under a new leader now, he wants to remain in his domain where he is comfortable and can continue to aid in any others who wish to stay behind.
Will he continue to resent the kidnapper or will he make amends?: Safi had many feelings before and during the kidnapping of his sister. He felt it was cruel and unusual punishment tacked onto what had already been deemed a terrible situation. Though the emotions were running him thin he held onto hope, knowing the horizon had to hold something more promising than these fickle moments. The only guarantee he knew was that the opposing pride wanted something from him, in order to obtain they wouldn't go to lengths of hurting his poor sister. He had confidence in this, it was probably with the way the opposing pride had approached them.
Upon giving audience and coming to a suitable agreement, Safi had to do what was best for survival. His pride meant the world to him and would need the aid of others to survive. That went for the opposing pride as well. The islands would need to join for survival, they needed to be the fittest. With all of this in mind would not hold a grudge, would remain calm and not be upset. His sister was fine, perhaps a little beaten up during the capture, but life would go on. It may seem heartless, but was good for the many may not please a few.
Future Plans? Safi would enjoy nothing more than joining up with the Bahari, strength in numbers was the way to go during trying times and they needed all the muscle they could get their paws on. The Tsunami had done tragic things and this would be their silver lining. It all meant that his family and friends would survive and with a better life quality to boot.

Personality Blurb: Kisii is always a happy guy, on the outside. But inside, he is hurt, because he has had a hard past, not just because of all the loss from the tsunami, but from the loss of a much loved mate long ago. He also is kinda...insane on the inside, but doesn't usually let it show, unless something isn't going his way...though a born leader, some spread rumors of him that one day he will crack and lead everyone into chaos.

Will he continue to resent the kidnapper or will he make amends?: Kisii had never held a grudge on anyone before, but he swore he would never let anything happen to his sister ever again when he heard. He had made plans, preperations for what he would say, would he would do to get his beloved sister, and only family back. He would get her back and he promised himself that, but now wouldn't be the time. He needed to figure everything out before he got her back, Kisii just hoped that she was safe...
