Can someone explain to me how this summer sale is a sale?

Items that were originally found in RIGs (which are usually less than 200 gaia cash) are being sold for 5000 gaia cash. 5000gc is fifty ******** bucks. How the ******** is this a sale? Yes, I get that they are rare, but $50 for a single ******** item? And there's a surprise item that'll be sold for 9900gc. $100 for a ******** item? What the ********, Gaia?

Pretty sure they're getting desperate for cash. I know they've had to lay off a bunch of artists.

I remember a few years ago it was a huge thing when they had 100,000 Gaians signed on at once during a summer event... have you seen anything like that happen since?

Gaia has reached it's maximum growth potential, but they still want to grow (and the artists do deserve to get paid well for the awesome items they make for us). If they can't get the same amount of money from more people, they'll try to get more money from the same people.

Also, in terms of it being a "sale", well... the ones that aren't 25-50 bucks are actually cheaper than when they first came out.
But yeah. 50 bucks for a single VIRTUAL item is pretty ********' ridiculous.
(I'm really glad you guys talked me out of buying that Marionette one from the last sale, geez louise...)

You know that Lovely Lucie item? The one everyone and their grandmother seems to want?
The one that people in the forums have been speculating/hoping will part of this "sale"?
Alright well, they DO in fact have it up for purchase during this sale for a whopping 50 bones.

Here's the funny part:

That item was part of a sort of mini-RIG from way, way back in the day (this one here)
You either got a 3rd gen Little Lucie, or (if you had a horseshoe up your a**) the Lovely Lucie.
And the veeeeeeeery first time Gaia did a Black Friday-esque sale, they had it as one of the items.
I should know. I bought one. But I didn't pay 50 bucks, good god no.
They had it up for 30. Almost HALF of what they're asking for now. (here's proof)
AND! On top of that, I had the autocash thing which (back then) gave me a 10% discount on GCash stuff.
So in actuality, I paid 27.

... are you laughing yet? 'Cuz wow.

Also, the "surprise" items are very obviously going to be Princess of the World and Bom Bom The Bunny.
(plus whatever extra item they somehow think is worth 99 ******** dollars)

Additionally I am pretty sure that you can get most of these items for "cheaper" GC-wise than it would be to transfer the GC to gold and buy the item that way.

I thought Gaia wanted to combat inflation in the MP, not contribute to it. $100 for a RIG is only going to make the ones that are least likely to come out of it more expensive.

Yeeeeah...... I guess in that sense it would.
But if people are psychotic have the money to blow on this s**t,
then maybe having more of those items on the MP will at least bring the price in gold down a bit.
I mean... the Cheshire Kitten used to be in the 8-digit range and now it's around 8 mil. *shrug*

I've never even had a mil in my possession, though I'm getting close without having to sell s**t (other than doubles) or all the letters I have in storage. I'm too much of a hoarder to sell anything just to buy something that's several million gold.
