Artificial Independent Mechanized Infantry
AIMI (Ay-Me)

I'm going to be honest and say I'm not entirely certain on the shop's stance on robots, androids, and AI. However, since many of the artists don't seem to enthused about drawing it, I'll consider this a small side project to work out and busy myself with, because honestly... writing is fun, no matter how bad you are at it.

The CREATOR

Name:
Gray Peregrine
Age:
Early 40's, specifically Fourty-Four.
Personality, History and Motives:
Only AIMI seems to have any real knowledge of her creator, likely due to the secretive nature of his life over the last several years. It is likely that Gray Peregrine is not his true name; though it is the moniker by which his creation knows him. At one point he worked for a leading cybernetics company, one that was on the frontier of robots and physical augmentations. However, he grew dissatisfied with the direction of the company, which often treated their creations as simple luxuries and comforts for the people. He saw that their work could be applied elsewhere - to the future of the police force and for war. The details are sketchy, but the likeliest events were that he absconded with many blueprints and information, destroying the originals in the process. He had been funneling money from the company for years, and so, it wasn't like he had a difficult time setting up.

AIMI's first incarnation existed for a short period of 6 months before Peregrine realized that simply updating the processing power and attaching weaponry to a design meant for household chores really wasn't the best course of action. AIMI 1's physical body was completely scrapped, replaced with a joint design of his stolen designs and his own improvements. A much more stable, interesting robot was created, and he worked on her for over a year. AIMI 2's design was shown to private sectors, first - those that might be interested in a completely loyal, controllable security force. Though AIMI 2 was quickly out of date, and her remaining similarities to his stolen designs left a few raised eyebrows. And so, again, AIMI was rebuilt and her memory wiped.

AIMI 3 existed next, and though she lived on for nearly six years, at least four of these years were spent deactivated. Peregrine did not disable her for reasons quite like the others - no, he had been scared. AIMI 3 had caused a big commotion, taken lives, and it was enough for him to rethink his entire strategy. The only reason the AIMI project resumed was due to the Digistruct technology.

Peregrine worked for the next four years as a thief - though far more sophisticated than your average pickpocket. He invented identities, conned his ways into employment at technological firms, then stole their hard work before completely wiping their original copies. He would modify them and then resell to other companies - even ones he had stolen from under a new alias. Indeed, even the Digistruct Technology was something taken under his new line of work.

Peragrine is not a man who acts for the benefits of others. He is interested in money first, despite his genius and skills. Even so, he does not wear this fact on his sleeve. Openly, he seems a man obsessed with robotics and work, but he is not rude or short with others. Rather, he comes off as a quiet, intelligent man. This frequently hides his inner thinking, which has no patience or care for other people's personal space, hard work or problems.

Hero alias:
AIMI or Aimi (Pronounced, more or less, the same as "Amy")
Real name:
Artificial Independent Mechanized Infantry
Powers/abilities:
Aimi's "power" is highly combat oriented, as she has been upgraded with Digistruction technology in-built to her right forearm, allowing Aimi use of nanites in constructing weapons from digital blueprints. Due to the complexity and highly experimental nature of her own body as well as the technology of the nanites, however, Aimi is currently equipped with only one blueprint - a rifle that she fires internally.

Aimi's rifle allows for greater range and efficiency than what is normally possible, due to Aimi's ability to remain out of the fray while dealing damage. However, due to the weight of the weapon and the power behind it, Aimi is forced to grasp it with her opposite hand over-top, which greatly reduces her maneuverability. Often, Aimi will have to drop her weapon when drastically changing direction. If Aimi runs out of 5.56 round magazines, she will be stuck in hand to hand (which she is admittedly not very good at). Along with this is the fact that the rifle has a tendency to overheat and the recoil tends to drastically reduce her accuracy when not properly stabilizing the weapon. Due to the volatile nature of gun powder, Aimi does not produce it herself and must carry a small quantity into battle.

Digistruction is relatively unstable, and the nanites will occasionally cannibalize themselves or parts of Aimi's arm. Were she made of flesh and blood, this would be rather horrific. Her case, however, is somewhat unique. Aimi need only return "home" so that she may have replacement parts fabricated and repairs made. However, if cannibalization occurs in the midst of battle, she will often be stuck for the remainder of the battle without any means of creating a gun, as well as ongoing damage.

The most obvious path of improvement is additional blueprints and stability. Future blueprint possibilities lie in a sword or cannon.

Rookie
AIMI can Digistruct a Semi-Automatic rifle, though it requires careful handling to account for it's recoil. Digistruct time is 10 seconds, but with the time to load in ammunition, it takes roughly 30 seconds for AIMI to be absolutely battle ready.
Faulty constructs abound - AIMI's rifle has a tendency to overheat, which doubles with each additional spent magazine. When her rifle is completely overheated, it will refuse to fire or fall apart.
Aimi requires a 10 minute cool down between digistructing, starting from when her rifle has been recalled/disassembled", before attempting to construct another rifle. Attempting to construct too early will create a VERY faulty gun, which risks detonating it's own ammunition, double-firing, or straight up falling apart. Multiple constructions, especially if they are without waiting out the cooldown, merits almost certain nanite cannibalization.
Severe Cannibalization; AIMI's nanites are relentless. They will eat at her arm, hand, shoulder and side. Their work is slow, but stopping them is difficult and requires special treatment to disable them. Disabling nanites, however, essentially "kills" them - corrupted units can not be salvaged. AIMI will be forced to return home and restock her nanites, and will be unable to digistruct til that point.
Sidekick
AIMI gains the Sword construct, in addition to her preexisting rifle. However, AIMI has no proper training with the sword and will require classes/training in order to become efficient - until then she can more or less only clumsily swing it. The sword, due to it's length, takes a bit longer than the gun to construct, about fiften seconds - however, due to not requiring ammunition, it is ready much sooner. Additionally, AIMI has come too construct her additional rifle slightly quicker, shaving three seconds off construct time. She has also become more accustomed to her awkward loading mechanism, shaving down total ready time to twenty seconds for her rifle.
Stability has all around been increased, shaving down the likelihood of overheat, along with it's consequences. A total overheat will simply stop AIMI from firing her weapon for the next five minutes, before cutting the overheat chance down to 30% on the weapon. Construct cool down time has been lowered to six minutes. Attempting to create her sword without waiting for cooldown will result in a very brittle weapon with it's weight unevenly distributed - making it very difficult to wield.
Mild Cannibalization; while the chances of her nanites breaking down has been lessened, AIMI will still risk the chance of it frequently. However, her nanites will attack only her arm, shoulder and hand. However, AIMI's chair has now been upgraded to treat her nanites. They are still destroyed, however, AIMI is now able to halt their attack much sooner.
Hero
Aimi's stability has been drastically increased once again. Overheat is very rare, and when it occurs, all Aimi need do is wait three minutes for her rifle to cool down before returning to a 15% overheat chance. Additionally, cool down between constructs had dropped dramatically, to only four minutes. Aimi's sword proficiency has increased, allowing better control and parrying (this would be dependent on classes).
It would be at this point, or even late sidekick stage, that AIMI might gain the EMP shield.
xxxxx=> The Electro Magnetic Pulse Shield would better shield Aimi from EMP-type detonations. This would in all likelihood be a matter of perfecting the shield's power draw, and would remain a feature solely for combat, as it would still be quite resource heavy (especially if it had to shield a detonation). It's initial strength would be relatively weak, and it could probably be overcome if AIMI is within a few feet of an EMP detonation. The EMP Shield would not have any special benefit against physical damage, however, it would be a detrimental piece of equipment in AIMI's long-term survival, as it's there to keep her battery online and brain intact.

Which area is the character based/from:
Sewit
Age upon entering academy:
Physically, Aimi looks around 15. She is, however, technically 8 years of age.
How did your character get their powers:
Aimi was assembled by an incredibly gifted inventor and engineer. She was originally created as a prototype for a future "guilt-free, completely artificial" soldier. As such, her first renditions were actually more androgynous in appearance. The Digistruction tool built into her forearm is a new and highly experimental technology, "borrowed" from another manufacturer despite being very far from test stages.
Motivation for entering academy:
Aimi, unlike many who enter the academy, isn't exactly needing guidance or assistance in managing her abilities. While it goes without saying that nanites, and digital constructs are not without their problems, they are not the kinds of complications to be solved by simply attending classes or even using them routinely. Aimi's enrollment into the academy is more or less an experiment, as her AI is actually incredibly rough, and she is sorely in need of experience with humans and like-humans to develop her personality. However, due to her appearance and lack of proper understanding of common laws, she would stick out in every day society, or worse, severely injure someone. At the very least, she would cause less distress among the population of the academy.

With her additional constructs and interest in human beings, however, Aimi would become more involved in classes themselves. She will require training to become a more flexible fighter - mentally and physically, especially once she has gained her sword.

Strengths:
Physical
Aimi's status as a machine more or less affords her a natural "leg up" in a few avenues. While not overly impressive, her strength and stamina are both greater than what might typically be seen in a teenage girl. This advantage can be detrimental in a fight, considering being able to carry a few extra pounds or keep up an assault for just seconds longer can make a huge difference.
Due to her brain being a highly sophisticated computer, Aimi's processing capabilities are rather impressive. She can calculate percentages, theories, and even the chances of victory for the optimal battle plan from a repertoire of strategies stored in her memory.
Aimi does not process things the same way that humans do on a physical level. This is most useful in terms of wounding. While one born of flesh and blood may be incapacitated due to blood loss or pain, Aimi can continue even when damaged a fair deal. That is, unless her legs are somehow disabled or her battery is damaged.
Aimi does not require sleep in the same sense that humans do. AIMI instead has a finite source of energy (located in her "skull"), and has a small chamber/seat that she recharges in. The wires on her head are actually designed specifically to connect to it. The general rule is that recharge is only necessary every 30 hours, although after engaging in strenuous or lengthy combat, she must recharge within 6 hours. Each recharge typically varies in duration/time required, though AIMI may remain connected for longer periods to emulate sleep cycles, even when fully renewed. Regardless of whether she is charging or not, Aimi will resume a state of lessened functions. She will shut off much of her body, and transfer much of her consciousness into her chair itself. However, if assaulted whilst "sleeping", Aimi can react due to the limited functions remaining in her body. However, if her body is suddenly disconnected from the chair while her "mind" is stored inside, she will have no means of returning to her mobile body once again til it is connected once more.
Mental
Aimi's unique mental processing affords her certain battle advantages - she is aware of the fact that true death is near impossible for her, or rather, that any damage she receives can ultimately be repaired. This can not be said for many other forms of life, who can be left permanently scarred, maimed or worse when forced into similar circumstances. Aimi processes overall damage and functionality, as opposed to chances of survival - simply put, she will continue fighting in most situations, so long as she is physically able.

Weaknesses:
Physical
Aimi's technology, all around, is as experimental as it is sophisticated, and generally very unstable. This is best shown in her most recently outfitted equipment - the Digistruction technology. In it's original form, it was not meant for the complexity of firearms, and as such became far less stable once altered to construct them. The version that Aimi is equipped with is frequent to malfunctions, the most damaging of all being the degradation and eventual cannibalization by the nanites stored in her arm.
The trade-off for many of Aimi's "robot advantages" is a clearly non-human appearance, as well as a weight much greater than any normal human due to the fact she is comprised mainly of metal, fiber cables and synthetic materials.
Despite the initial benefits she may experience due to her robotic physique, Aimi is locked as is. She is unable to improve her own physical abilities by training, such as running or lifting weights. Furthermore, actually attempting to upgrade her so that she could truly be of inhuman strength (and such similar feats) would be impossible due to the required power draw and the fact that such equipment would make her too heavy to move.
Aimi is, as mentioned above, quite heavy. Her weight is well over 300 lbs, and while outfitted with compensation so that she may jump and run relatively well, this weight effects her buoyancy completely. Aimi, due to weight of her body and it's mostly metal composition, will sink in water. This is likely why her water resistance was so prioritized. Additionally, even if she is capable of jumping, her falls are still effected by this weight. If Aimi falls from a high enough position, she will crack the ground below. It is not advisable to stand beneath her or try to catch her when she falls.
While generally capable of absorbing more damage than a living being, Aimi has a natural weakness to electricity and magnetic forces. Electricity can easily overload her battery (and functions in general), forcing a hard reboot of her systems/paralysis. Magnetic forces are more subtle, but can be "fatal" if put in direct contact with her brain.
AIMI has several safety features to ensure her brain's survival, however she can still experience malfunctions as any computer might. Likewise, even benign outside forces can be harmful to her. Despite having a means of temperature control akin to liquid cooling, Aimi still functions best within tepid temperatures due to the fact just day to day activity keeps her running warm. Extremely hot environments are very uncomfortable to AIMI for this reason, and can result in malfunctions and permanent damage. Even a particularly warm environment can bring forth maladies in the form of slowed functions or glitches in her general mental processes combat performance (her aim might be way off, or digistruction would take a much longer time)
Aimi's body is, for the most part, covered in a very effective armor. This armor "skin" is quite resistant to melting, and of course, bullets - but it does little to guard against heat (against her brain) or electricity. Furthermore, her body can not withstand extremely high-caliber rounds, powerful explosives or even her own nanites when they become "hungry". It covers most of her body, but due to the recent addition of a spine for improved mobility and flexibility, a large portion of Aimi's back is unguarded. The fibrous cables that lie mostly exposed beneath her spine serve a number of functions, with many supplying her limbs with the proper "blood" to keep her well lubricated, also serving as the liquid coolant around her core. While the fibers can likely withstand a bit of force, they are susceptible to really any type of aggressive power or munitions, and will leak this silvery "blood". Aimi does not synthesize this vital material herself, and losing it means gradual difficulty in movement, as well as possible permanent damage to her locomotive components. Along with this is the fact that her core temperature will gradually rise as the fluid that sucks out much of the heat she produces is lost.
While normally faithful in recharging, there are still consequences for completely depleting her battery. A human might pass out and sleep for a bit, then reawaken relatively fresh. Aimi, however, would not. Upon running out of power Aimi will shut down, and she won't be able to come back on on her own. Aimi's battery isn't very large, and neither is the amount of free space within her body. There is no room for more batteries or back-up generators. If she overexerts herself to the point of running completely dry, she will be forced into an immediate shut-down, and won't be capable of coming back on til connected to a power source such as her chair.
Mental
It goes without saying that Aimi's personality is, as of yet, very underdeveloped. She is closer to machine than human mentally, and it shows in her battle strategy. The AI will act based on statistics, probable outcomes and percentages. The issue with this is that, in her mind, the end result is what is important. So long as victory is attained, all that occurs "in the middle" is a footnote. Because of this, she will not weigh the values of potential loss of human life as another might, regarding such loss as a necessity or footnote in comparison to a preferable end result. A prime example is that if she judges the chances of victory as being high, she will continue her engagement even if damaged or if her nanites have degraded. What's perhaps worse is that she may end up forcing someone who is not fit to fight due to injury back into the fray. There are also factors that really only a human mind can come up with in strategy. In fact, many of Aimi's preferred strategies are based on existing, cataloged ones.
Aimi's mentality is a bit of a double-edged sword. She does not fully comprehend mortality or death. While she is programmed to regard and protect human life within reason, it is not as if she can grasp the consequences or understand the concept of ceasing to exist. She will go too far in a fight, or will not realize when another is in serious need of medical treatment. Aimi would likely not experience grief or sadness if one close to her were to die, if only because she does not understand the idea that someone can succumb to injury and disappear permanently.
Even with her name referring to her as "infantry," Aimi has never really worked alongside others before - be they machine or human. Suffice to say, she is less than proficient in working with a unit. This is not to say she prefers being alone on the battle field, but rather, she adjusts poorly to following the instructions of others when her own calculations might speak otherwise. She is also not accustomed to having to worry about friendly fire and general mishaps.
Despite being near bullet proof over much of the front of her body, Aimi is still susceptible to "viral" assault. Not only this, but a talented enough individual could likely hack into her in order to slow her system functions, shut her down, or assume some limited control over her body. For the most part, Aimi is well protected against viruses. She has never picked up anything that was any worse than a mild cold or flu would be for a human. Most higher threat viruses would require the hacker to be within close proximity to her, or even have a direct uplink to her brain or motor control.

Personality:
Aimi is unique to most Rookies in that her powers are not exclusively what needs work on; mostly, it's her personality.. Early on, what may come off as clumsy or negative attributes will likely dominate this section. Aimi has only ever known one human, at least in this life cycle; as such, she finds it difficult to understand the feelings of others. As much as she may try, the most Aimi can do is research the meaning of words another might use in describing their emotions. What is sadness? What are tears, and what purpose do they serve? This is not to say that Aimi herself has never experienced emotion. She has, however, never had them described to her, and has no real words to put to the feelings stirring inside her.

That said, however, Aimi has a great appreciation for social interaction. Even if she does not yet fully understand how to engage others, the mobile weapon is appreciative of efforts to communicate with her. The fact is, Aimi will likely feel quite strongly for those she speaks with. Despite her great desire to befriend others, there is the fact that her manner of speaking is exceptionally odd; her words sometimes come out disjointed, more machine than human in her use of vocabulary. Her speaking voice, however, is slowly developing from a synthesized one to something more human.

This also ties into Aimi's sense of loyalty. While her logic and programming dictate certain actions, her loyalty to a "friend" will more often than not override any judgement made by herself. In many ways, this is a trait adopted from her life as a robot. She is made to serve and obey humans, even if she is meant to develop into one emotionally.

Atop these other qualities is the fact that Aimi is blunt, not only that, but pretty much incapable of telling a lie. While both a positive and a negative, depending on who you might speak to, Aimi's world is, as of yet... very basic. To her, there is no discernible benefit for lying. She is not intentionally rude or off-putting, but the "blond" does have a tendency to say things right off the top of her head. It doesn't help that Aimi sees things in such a literal sense.

Even with a large part of her personality seeming to place great importance on the input and existence of others, Aimi is a creature of, admittedly, sometimes cold logic. If leaving one person alive will result in the peril or death of another, or many more, then they must be eliminated. An enemy of her friend is an enemy to be treated with extreme prejudice. Even in typical situations, this can cause problems, as she'll frequently try to stop an event that might present danger to another person, even if it is as mundane as playing a risky game. To this extent, Aimi prefers to engage in combat in the place of others, as she can be repaired in most scenarios, while they usually can not.

Oddly enough, even as such an early stage, Aimi does exhibit some remarkably human qualities. Aimi has a bit of a complex, and is uneasy about her appearance (more specifically, her back). The only areas she will readily expose are her face and her hands - which look very similar to advanced prosthetic - just very dark with visible joints. The reasoning for this response isn't so much out of actual shyness regarding perceived nudity. Rather, her desire is to maintain a visual norm among even the oddballs of the academy, due to the directions of her Creator not to cause a scene. There is another reason, however - concerning the very visible portion of her back. It is a clear weak spot, lacking armor, and Aimi does not want it to be so readily known of. Aimi only feels truly embarrassed/shy when it comes to her actual insides; that being her system, memory, drivers and various programs. These are very much secrets to be safe guarded. Oddly enough, this is a trait that will likely exist later, even as she grows emotionally; though the reasonings behind it will change drastically.

Aimi is rather naive to much of the world. While she has a fluent understanding of combat, she can not comprehend something like a villain. To her, acting out of selfish desire, or for the enjoyment of chaos and suffering is something beyond her. Aimi finds it difficult to sympathize even with the most tragic figures, and will persecute them harshly. Her moral code is very black and white, though reasoning with the robot is not an impossible task (she was outfitted with an AI for such a purpose, after all). This naivety can apply to many other areas, as well. She finds it difficult to get most jokes, and will frequently question the reasoning behind a course of action. Despite this, Aimi has a catalog like memory, and will take down answers with great importance, remembering them to the word. However, this innocence to the nature of the world and human lies can lead her into being misled early on.

Aimi's personality is sure to change drastically through meeting others and reflecting upon them and herself. At current, she can scarcely understand her own emotions, however.

General backstory:
It would be a little boring to say that Aimi had no history, that she had about as many memories as she had fingers, and that she couldn't recall anything more than 6 months earlier. As true as that may be, it doesn't account for the fact that Aimi is 8 years old. The truth is, there have been several Aimi's - the current one being the fourth Aimi, as well as the third, second, and first. How is this all possible? Well, anyone who is familiar with a computer will understand. Aimi, as sophisticated as she is, has gone through many developments physically and mentally. Her first form was little more than a grey-shell with a penchant for calculations.

Aimi began as a prototype in the world of guilt-free warfare. People always hated throwing young men and women away fighting their enemies, or rounding up criminals. If you could get it to be a completely mechanized affair, then who would care? Machines didn't have feelings, after all. Nobody would morn one. The fact is, as upgrades in technology and AI came, each Aimi was wiped. What was their "brain", basically an advanced HDD and CPU. Now, as anyone will tell you, you can not completely clean a hard drive without destroying it completely. Even reformating it will leave bits of old data, hidden away in directories and registries. Even if each generation of Aimi was ultimately deleted so that new drivers and upgrades could be installed, pieces of the old remained and continued to pile on top of one another.

It was not obvious, not the first three times, but these fragments of data have manifested on numerous occasions, as what Aimi could best describe as "dreams". Most of what she sees is irrelevant dumps of data, but sometimes, there is a glimmer of a distant, familiar memory; and it is frightening. She is left with the foreboding feeling that something terrible has happened to her, but her own naivety to death and loss leaves Aimi completely incapable of understanding it.

The current Aimi, the most advanced one to date, has a greater capability to learn. This incarnation is clearly designed to be a true AI, learning to emulate and eventually "become" human, at least in developing a personality and understanding the more abstract concepts of humanity. Many of her memories are still of being locked in a laboratory.

This is due to the fact that her creator, after the fiasco with AIMI 3, decided to attempt to steal technology as opposed to developing it. He was employed by one company, sent to steal blueprints from another. He did this many times, amassing a very small fortune by mooching off the brilliance of others before selling it to their competitors. Yet, when he happened upon the Digistruct Project, something more than petty greed came to mind; no, he thought of his AIMI project. He'd seen his share of AI work in his time of pretending to be the employee of high-end tech companies, or hacking into their computers. It wouldn't be hard to fix what had caused the problems before - but with this, she could truly blend, as well as be a weapon.

With his ill-gotten money and his new plans, AIMI's creator set-up a small lab (though it was closer to a robot prison) close to his home. Most of AIMI's time has been spent there, in fact, she has never actually been within the home of her "father", or anyone else.

The reasons for AIMI's creator enrolling her into the academy are simple - AIMI needs to apply values to human life, ones more complex than any simple coding can provide. His desire is for her to advance mentally in order to keep accidents or "friendly fire" type of events from occurring; though his intentions are not entirely benevolent or selfless.

Looks department:

Aimi is far from average, at least in anything but height. She stands around 5'5", the relative norm for a girl her "age". However, in every other aspect she is visibly strange. The only truly human part of her seems to be her face, equipped with synthetic flesh, a soft-skin tone and thick eyelashes. If nothing else positive can be said of her, one can say that at least she has a wonderful face. From the jawline to the hairline, everything is as it should be, with blond-bangs stopping just above her eyebrows, being brushed towards the right side of her forehead. The back of her skull is black in color, lined with small, linear indents, where one would guess the panel could be removed to gain access to her "interior". Near the top, backmost part of her skull, however, there is a small opening that allows several wires (mostly white with a few green and blue ones) to flow out in a bundle before reconnecting slightly lower on the back of her head, bearing great resemblance to a bun. Separating the almost barren back of her head from the her face is a silver bland band that goes along the hairline above where her bangs connect to her scalp, each ending just short of her eyes before connecting to a circular piece of metal on each side, where her ears would typically be were she human.

Downwards, Aimi's body becomes less human. Her body is almost entirely black (although truly it's just a very, very dark grey, as it the back of her skull). The front of her body, being her chest, ribs, and pelvic region, are one conjoined piece of semi-hardened material - though it has some give, just not nearly as much as flesh. There is spacing between her chest and shoulders, where a fibrous, cable-like material bands together (think like the nanosuit). Most of her back is very similar in appearance, as well as the area between each joint. Her spine is pronounced, a ridged, large implant that allows incredibly flexibility and stability, although it is less than subtle.

Her legs are almost like armor in how the knees connect to the thigh, with a somewhat exaggerated kneecap. Her feet are relatively small and pointed towards the front. There is a small indent on her shoulders that displays a [SYMBOL PENDING], this same symbol is actually inlaid on the pupil of her eyes.

Aimi's right fore-arm is different from her left, both in function and appearance. It has faint ridges and lines along the material that hint at where it pulls open to allow digistruction. Aimi's physical maintenance is mostly handled by her creator and primarily caregiver, as she does not quite grasp the importance of physical maintenance, or rather, apply any preference to how she looks or dresses - so long as it serves it's purpose. However, as she progresses, she would eventually see the necessity and benefits to maintaining a certain standard of beauty, to the point of demanding her creator make her less machine and more girl in appearance.

NOTES (pls read!)

There's going to be a LOT of important stuff here. Because of Aimi's... unique presentation, a lot of information about her I felt could not just be stuffed into her profile. I guess you could call it keeping some stuff hidden, to be revealed via journals, etcetc, if the time ever came. This is also generally where I dump information I thought of while talking to people (thanks Yulo!) or considered later, and just haven't thought of a way or place to incorporate into the main profile. So, notes concerning different matters ahoy.

* I felt that this first one was one of the most important to address, concerning AIMI's history. A lot of her past isn't her own, rather, it's shared between four incarnations of herself, as well as her enigmatic creator. So I'm just going to bullet a few facts floating around in my head.
- AIMI 1 and AIMI 2 were both relatively short-lived, but were the more combat oriented incarnations. AIMI 1's mental functions were very simplistic, with little more than the ability to recognize threats, as well as allies, and process statistics. You could say that AIMI 4's quick processing and strategical capabilities on the battlefield are AIMI 1's legacy, as even if it was ultimately scrapped, the best of what it had to offer was implemented in later AIMI's.
- AIMI 2 was very similar to AIMI 1, but offered more stability and mental capability. Unlike AIMI 1, it communicated in more than binary displays on it's face. Instead, it's face was basically adapted into a highly efficient lens, while it communicated audibly through a set of pre-recorded responses and alerts. AIMI 2 was ultimately scrapped simply due to available upgrades, rather than efficiency or performance issues.
- AIMI 3 was the longest-lived, even if she was deactivated for a long period before eventually being wiped and made into the current AIMI 4. AIMI 3 was the first to be given a more feminine chassis, even if she didn't have a complicated face. Her responses were more complex, and her arms came with onboard weapons. AIMI 3 was capable of complex thought, and despite not being a true or full AI, she was beginning to develop human-like qualities, and even place values upon human life. Her deactivation was due to the fact that she was involved in an "incident" that resulted in a substantial loss of human life. The bits of data, or "memories" that AIMI 4 often experiences are mostly from AIMI 3, possibly a result of her budding sentience and long-deactivation period before being wiped.
- The AIMI project likely only resumed because the Digistruct technology was just too good an opportunity to pass up. Learning from just what assigning no real value to human life, and building something that was to emulate a soldier and then leaving it among civilians, AIMI's creator opted to emulate a true AI. Especially with something like the academy available.
* Due to AIMI's honestly lacking understanding of morality and death, as well as her being oblivious to the fact that she is not the "first" AIMI, she is loyal to her creator. Likely, as she learns from the other teens at the academy, and eventually realizes how she has been "wiped"/essentially killed repeatedly for the sake of performance, she would tear away from him, even resent him. This may drive her creator to villainhood, or at the very least attempting to deactivate her. Draaamaaa.
* While digistructing, AIMI's right arm will "open", as a panel will raise and it will shift slightly to accommodate releasing nanites as well as the eventual position of her weapon. As the object is constructed, it will take the form as a blue beam of light that will bend, warp and twist to create a 3D blueprint before it becomes solid/usable.
*As I've mentioned, AIMI is highly resistant to damage and pain. While she can likely continue functioning longer than most, this is not to imply that she is invincible. AIMI's "mind" is stored in her chest, near where the heart would be - it can normally only be access by removing the plate that covers her entire front, and then opening a separate compartment. Her chest plate serves mostly at the protection for this area, and a straight on blow might find it difficult to pierce. However, hitting from behind where much of her armor plating is absent means avoiding this large obstacle all together. Even minor damage can result in irreparable side effects, as her "brain" is incredibly delicate.
- Inside of AIMI's head is actually, basically, her battery.
* Despite preferring long-sleeved shirts, she tends to rip the sleeves when she is forced into digistructing. Simple to say, AIMI has gone through a lot of hoodies.
* Aimi can access most online sources by herself, and will use them to frequently research concepts and words beyond her vocabulary.
- AIMI, her current incarnation being so young, has not developed many tastes for herself. The closest thing to a hobby she has is probably research. She is actually quite frequent to browse literature online, though you wouldn't tell by looking at her, save for by the blank expression on her face.
*AIMI herself is not allowed access to the Digistruct blueprints. Rather, they are stored on and encrypted within the device in her arm itself. The device is composed of a small computer, the nanite chamber, and the mechanism that connects to her arm, which allows it to open and produce the laser to build the blueprint in 3D. The computer itself stores the current blueprints and much of the know how on how the technology works, though everything is encrypted, only ever translated by the computer while digistruction is in process. The computer is heavily fortified within the small space of AIMI's arm, and even her nanites would have a difficult time getting to it. Though they seem to prefer chewing up her chassis, anyhow.
*Growing alongside humans, and essentially becoming one internally, while an admirable goal for a machine, comes with many setbacks. As Aimi begins to near true sentience and fall into her emotional spectrum, she'll basically be forced to come to the conclusion that she's permanently stuck in a metal shell. She can easily go out of date, or be completely destroyed by a malicious program. Even worse, the world of flesh and blood is, ironically, rather cold towards machines. She will face the fact that she may never find something like love, or shed a tear, and that even when those she has come to love pass on, she will remain physically frozen forever.

Overall, I consider EIMI to be inverted, in a sense. I don't mean for it to seem like there's little effort put into her personality, it's just that... she's really, really barren in that regard because she just has few qualities or understandings, as of yet. Though she will grow quickly, and each bit of information gathered from a person she meets will be applied to the next. On the flip side, she is fairly viable with her power, it is moreso the temperamental nature of her power that acts as the low point, currently.

TO-DO LIST

Stuff not entirely a priority, but stuff I should probably get around to at some point nonetheless..

* Flesh out the "Creator", probably a separate mini profile. - Working on, SORT of finished!
* Massive clean up, merge a lot of the Notes into the main profile body. - 25% Done!
* Give Yulo hugs
* Create or commission more AIMI concept art/portrait-type stuff, in general solidify her appearance and make it's description easier to understand. - Definitely under control, thanks to Yulo!
*BALANCING - Important, need crit! May remove one blueprint for overall rookie balance, as suggested by Shnazz. - Done!
* Get Crit and apply it.

Lyrical Crap

I always see people list character music. I... dunno if I have that, but here's some stuff I listened to and reminds me of AIMI.

Alright. Finally getting down to this long one. 8D b

@Powers - I think the fact that AIMI can already digistruct weaponry with blueprints is an extraordinary power alone already, it's versatile and could be utilized in a lot of ways. Having her also be able to use the corrupted nanites to eat through things seems a bit excessive. I think it's an important flaw to her design that makes her vulnerable especially for future plots. Since they were built for, you could consider the idea that they only have a taste for her metal? Essentially deteriorating slowly…. lol. Yeah, that's a bit of a dark suggestion.
But anyway, I would stick to just digistruction because you also have listed quite a lot of future blueprints. I mean, a sword/cannon/dual-firearms/shields/boosters. This is a lot to take in and overpowering if you're putting all this together.

I think if you want to focus on long-range weapons, do that. Or if you want a mix of the two, pick two long-range blueprints and one short range. But I think it may be a little redundant to have a rifle, a cannon AND dual firearms? And if she's a long-range fighter, having boosters doesn't add up unless you just wanted her to be able to fly too.

PLUS her computer super intelligence alone can be considered an add-on power. And you note that there's little chance for her to be wrong in her calculations. Though I do find it great that her lack of human understand makes this more of a flaw, she's really getting into overpowered territory if the other things you've written on her abilities is taken into consideration.

@Personality - So you mentioned that she doesn't need training in combat, but actually it seems like she does. Combat isn't only about winning, which is what she seem to only understand. Combat is also about casualties/injuries and spoils. Winning at all costs isn't always the best strategy, so maybe she does need help in combat/strategy to better understand how to save people. I mean, this is why she was made to become a hero right? For saving people. So if she doesn't care about saving people and just defeating a villain or whoever's attacking, then there's a flaw in her 'perfect combat/strategy' skills.
Or I misunderstood something. That you meant she's great at fighting and not strategy?
Confusion!

Who would she deem 'friends'? What's her morality like? Could she be mislead easily?
There's a bit of continuity issue with her cold logic description, that she seems overprotective/willing to take the place of people but at the same time she's willing to sacrifice life for the greater good? If something like a dangerous game can push her to become protective… What would happen in times of a villain attack? I'm not sure I get this portion.
Does she think that she has to take things on all by herself? She views humans as incapable of much?

Also. Does her memory/hardrive space ever run out..? o__o
What does she do during thunderstorms? Is water a weakness too? Does she have certain maintenance routines?

@Backstory - I really do enjoy what you've got here with the erasing memories but not really and how she can catch snippets of her past every now and then. That'll be really interesting for development later. *__* b

BUT, I do wonder about how this thieving scientist would get AIMI to SA. What's his motive for letting her go there? What does she think her purpose is? How does she feel currently about her creator and how much does she actually know about him?
Is there a real goal of becoming a hero for her? Or during her time at SA will she slowly develop into the mentality that she wants to be a hero? It seems like her creator just wants to exploit his creation as a war weapon, so I'm really curious on how this fits in with her feelings on her creation.

---
Sorry, I've only really read the profile section of your quest. But I'll get to the notes and stuff another time….. 8D;;;

And I hope this crit was helpful. Aimi's a lot to put together and I think it's going well so far!

Hahah, thanks for the response.

Yeah, I've really been trying to work on overall balance. A lot of the things about her calculations/brain is kind of conclusion I came to based on the fact that she's a computer/robot. I mean.. it seems natural that she would be able to come to very quick mathematical conclusions. Though yeah, it is a bit of a flaw in that she doesn't, as of yet, really consider battle strategy as a human does. I think she'd be pretty weak with sudden improvisation or having to alter a strategy that is familiar and very clear in her mind.

The nanites was something added only recently, and to be honest, it's very much an IF. It's a skill dependent on whether the cannibalizing nanites can be controlled to a degree, and whether the container that holds them can actually contain them once they "go rogue", so to speak. This would probably require being in close contact with her creator, or one who was technologically minded, in her latest stage. My plotting has her probably tearing away from her creator, however.

As for future digistruction, I know I kind of phrased it poorly. I think I was just listing possibilities? Or random ideas in my head at the time? I see her at rookie having 1 blueprint, as sidekick gaining one or tow more for a total of 2-3, and then at Hero gaining some of the higher level ones (the cannon and boosters). The boosters wouldn't be directly offensive - more of to offer limited gliding/flight or something dopey like that. The cannon would probably fire some sort of laser or explosive, not really sure yet. But yeah, I definitely need to balance that out a bit more. I may scrap the duel, hahaha.

@Personality - I wouldn't say she doesn't need training in combat. Her calculations make it relatively easy to quickly plug in the numbers to make accurate shots and what have you. She also has a large number of strategies "on board" so to speak. However, her improvisation would probably be slower than a living person's, because she really is so at home with what's in her brain. I think what I meant was that her actual combat "issues" can't really be solved by just training. It's more technological problems that will have to be upgraded. Though as far as development goes, she will probably learn some better strategies, all that, blablabla. And yeah, the winning at all costs thing is something to be overcome, both by seeing that there are more efficient ways of getting to the end result, and realizing that every individual life is worth something; normal human values sappy stuff.

I think her sort of innocence to the morals of the world was what got her previous self in trouble in the first place, so yeah, for a while, Aimi could easily be lead into doing things she probably shouldn't. Her morality is pretty black and white, currently - she knows not to needlessly harm or kill, to steal. She knows "crimes" are to be immediately dealt with and reported. As of now, Aimi has a very small grey area within her morality, if it exists at all. Luckily though, she's not without being reasoned with. Aimi is programmed with the idea of being very "user friendly". She won't immediately take an aggressive stance with a person unless they are doing something wrong. If she is treated well, she will quickly group that person as a friend. That can, of course, lead to other issues.

I think I mentioned to maybe Yulo, however, that Aimi is less forgiving towards human to human violence, or things similar. Because of the fact she really doesn't experience pain the same way, and knows she can easily be repaired, Aimi won't immediately attack someone if they, say, smack her. However, if she sees someone act aggressively towards a person grouped in as a "friend", she will respond in a much hastier fashion.

I actually hadn't considered the fact that her HDD might run out. I don't think she remembers things entirely like we do. She takes in visual, audible input, and stores them as data/numbers in her brain, something that only she or another computer could translate. This would probably allow for a larger amount of information being stored. I think Aimi has a very large memory, though if needed, she could store memories or information in her recharge chair to experience later. This could be done with especially important information or memories; things she would not want to lose or would desire to somehow share with another person.

I don't think she's really bothered by thunder. She isn't completely metal, and she has some insulation in order to stop light electric static, some discharge, etc. Though if she were hit directly by lightning, it could cause a hard reboot that could take quite a while to come out with - maybe even a battery replacement. Water isn't a weakness to Aimi because most of her electrical components are well guarded, and she's sealed against it to prevent rust and all sorts of things. Though if she, say, swallowed water, then it would be a problem because she isn't meant to eat/drink anything.

As for maintenance routines, I think her chair might run diagnostic checks and so on whenever she had to recharge every three days. It would attempt to diagnose an errors, then send a notice to her creator or herself, I'm not sure. She probably has a good understanding of how she is assembled, and can get into her body/open panels without much problem.

@Backstory
I covered the scientist's motives only lightly in the notes, so don't worry. The gist of it is that AIMI's rather simplistic, black and white programming caused problems - ones that resulted in the loss of human life. Realizing that AIMI, as a weapon, could cause a lot of problems if she didn't assign her own judgement and values to human life, was upgraded so that she could evolve into a true AI - one that was nigh indistinguishable from the mind and personality of an actual human. His reason for putting her there is so that she might have a safe environment to develop this brain, since super powered kids and faculty likely won't be hurt by whatever Aimi could unintentionally or mistakenly dish out.

I imagine he would attempt to enroll her normally? He has a small fortune, but to be honest, I hadn't really put much thought into it. lol Aimi believes her purpose is to "blend in". Even though she was originally intended as infantry, she now has this mindset that she has to not cause a fuss/appear human to the students of SA. It's part of the reason she hates having to expose her body to other people - not so much out of any shyness (at least not yet), but because she views it as violating the perimeters of her "mission". Otherwise, she's been ordered to assist and generally just fit in. It's actually quite exciting for her to be away from home, she'd be very enamored by the most mundane things of school life.

I think she'll get her goal once she begins to develop her own moral code, along with experiencing and learning of what happened with her own past. As she "develops" her own personality and ideas of what is right and wrong, she'll be disgusted with what she has seen, or what her creator has done- so much so that she'll personally want to prevent it. I imagine her as eventually becoming something of a spokesperson for the rights of machines - she'll believe it's wrong to use and abuse anything that has even an emulated personality of it's own.

But yes, he wants to exploit her. But Aimi will eventually have to stand up to him to prevent that, since she'll want her own life.

Heading right in; The Three Laws. Are they there just for show or does she abide by them?

I feel like things here need to be addressed, IF she is to abide by these 'rules' then you need to note that She's really not going to be fighting much of anything? I mean considering a good chunk of the villains are humans with powers? This meaning that if she cannot injure a human, she can't really fight the villains. Which..kind of puts her at a useless standing point? I mean other than if she fights aliens, or like ...monsters? :Ia Something to take into consideration. Also, you do note in the creator section that she kills people when Aimi 3. So, little bit contradicting. I know that she an improved model but still, if she got those memories back wouldn't she freak out by all means then?

Could not a villain by the rules of the second law, tell Aimi to go and get them something on the other side of the world thus taking her from battle and letting the villain get away? Since, its not really hurting people for her to leave?

And here ; What's perhaps worse is that she may end up forcing someone who is not fit to fight due to injury back into the fray. There are also factors that really only a human mind can come up with in strategy.

She is breaking the first law so...

Overall I suggest just taking out these three laws as they don't make much sense for the shop to be perfectly honest. I mean, if she has a gun that isn't always correct in its aim, she could potentially shoot, misfire, rickashay and kill a human thus putting her under the first law. So with that, why does she even have a weapon in this case, wouldn't she have calculated this and thus refused a weapon on grounds of breaking the first law? I mean why are they here if she...doesn't really follow them?

The creator section looks good, though I'm kind of wondering how the heck he's getting away with stealing from the same company. Is he really that good at creating disguise?

Motivation for entering academy:

Would Aimi consider taking combat classes since you mention in the profile that she's not good hand to hand? I'm just head scratching on what classes Aimi would actually attend here then if she doesn't need any help at all? I mean who better than a hero to help teach her how humans use strategy ? - just some random thoughts here uwu b

Moving along to Powers and abilities;

I think a map of her strength is in order, since she is a robot its good to have her lvls so we know when to look out for cars being tossed lol <3

Rifle Mode - A few things here that are standing out to me, since she is as strong as a grown man...

A grown man can typically lift, shoot and move with a rifle with ease so her having to drop this weapon is a little implausible. With this in mind I have to ask how big is this rifle attachment that it is too heavy for her to keep up while moving?

Also, being attached to her arm, how does she aim? How does she manage to aim properly since her opposite arm would block her view of the target?Even with a hand on top of the weapon, to help steady and I don't think it would do much in significantly affecting recoil would it and how bad of a recoil does she get with firing her weapons?

Is the rifle a single shot, or semi-auto? What caliber ?How long does it take her to load it her weapon? (Her ammo loading could be a weakness to look into) you mention that it might be possible for her gun to overheat above, I'm curious as to a % I suppose, is this something that rarely happens or often happens until she ranks up? Will the barrel melt if overheated? This could be a place for the nanites to die. So if the gun overheats they melt, die and start to eat the Aimi to replenish? Or will it simply cook the bullet if it gets too hot? Keep in mind if the second happens it will be explosive and then to that one would ask how much this would damage Aimi?

Questions:

* While digistructing, AIMI's right arm will "open", as a panel will raise and it will shift slightly to accommodate releasing nanites as well as the eventual position of her weapon. As the object is constructed, it will take the form as a blue beam of light that will bend, warp and twist to create a 3D blueprint before it becomes solid/usable. I believe this is good information to store in with the powers section under digistruction since I formed questions for this and had them written down by the time I got to this in the notes thing lol <33 It's relevant to the section and would be helpful to the next crit / reader <3

Now with that in mind, how long does that take to happen, enough for someone to possibly get water inside of her and cause damage since she is opening up? (another possible weakness to look into. owob ))

How much does Aimi weight? Like enough to instantly drop to the floor of a bed of water? Can Aimi swim for that matter? Or would she be hanging out on the ocean floor if someone happened to knock her into it? (good weakness here as well owob )) Does her weight interfere with her speed, how is her speed I don't remember seeing mention of it...

What maintenance does she have to go through when the nanites cannibalize? How often does this happen? Does it freak her out? It would me lol ouo maybe this could be a fear for her, being eaten alive by them so to speak? How easy is it for her nanites to replenish ? Keep in mind that ..most nanites are likely to be self replicating, so unless they die out they really wouldn't be running low enough to be turning cannibal, UNLESS her system is really that unreliable to were maybe they just think they are running low ? Or this is something that only happens when she is damaged ?

On the boosters - I'm going to go ahead and give this a no, reason being as followed.

Aimi already has super strength, endurance, stamina compared to most. Coupled with her actual power and the fact that she's really robot smart, flying will push her to far into an op direction for the shop in general. She already has impressive powers and with this shes basically getting rid of her heavy weight factor, which I find can be a fantastic flaw for her so. owo b

Blueprints - a solid map of those would be much-loved, so just noting what she gains in each lvl. ow ob I do think a sword and cannon would be awesome, but with the sword keep in mind this is close range combat and someone that's lacking in hand to hand isn't likely to be good unless they train BUT this could be a chance for her to develop with the help of the academy. Unless I'm misunderstanding and she is automatically to know how to use a weapon she digistructs? So basically just taking out the possibility of them and settling on something, which you can I believe rework in the future upon request to grow so just know its something solid for now and then later on if better ideas come we can work on changing that up uwub Just don't want you set on something that wouldn't work in the shop is all <33

Future Power Plans/Possibilities:
Cannibalizing nanites can be controlled, here I'm going to give a no as well. It's a little excessive like Shnazzy mentioned I think it should stick to a flaw that only involves eating away at Aimi. However maybe you could just make her a little more stable as she advances in lvls so its less and less likely to happen to her but still happens on occasion. uwub

Electro Magnetic Pulse Shield I think you are ok here, though more this being an upgrade that should happen around Hero. Since you mentioned her already having several safety features to ensure her brain's survival.

Strengths & Weaknesses::

What if the virus isn't a minor inconvenience? AI can be dangerous, it wouldn't be much of a surprise in a world of walking and talking “sentient” robots that somebody would go to the trouble of making the AI version of Ebola or something of the sort. Also what would happen if she happened to meet someone like Hack, a technopath?

Considering how advanced she is processor wise and most computers now days are lucky to have five hours of battery life going full tilt, I'm not sure how she can run for 3 days without burning out her battery. What happens if her finite source of energy is breached? I think staying awake while others sleep would be insufferable for her, given how boring it would be..perhaps thinking about a sleep mode for recharges, or if at anything she can just access herself just so she's not awake while others are asleep. Is she unable to defend herself while on the recharge chair at all?

I'm having a little trouble in finding ways of how someone or thing can hurt Aimi, physically at least unlike with most other rookies. Aimi has a lot lacking in the weakness department, I mean take into consideration ;

Aimi can be rebuilt, if you manage to hurt Aimi you have in here that she will keep coming because she can't feel pain which does make sense don't get me wrong. Aimi has and or could have in the future thanks to being a robot super strength so carrying around her ammo/guns isn't really that big of a deal for her. Aimi could potentially not be weakened by certain things with her shield. Aimi COULD be hacked but anything past a minor virus If I'm reading that right, (AKA anything that could really hurt her?) you have to direct link with her to do, which...is likely impossible, since she never sleeps for one and for two is a mid-ranged fighter so likely would never be close enough.

Along with all this a possible fatal shot isn't really possible. You have, "heavily fortified, however, a hard enough shot in the correct location" This tells me that this spot is not going to be easy to find and its armored well, plus you mention in the profile that she is near bullet proof, which again because she is kind of complicated to actually damage its back to how is this a weakness since it's likely going to take one hell of a powerful and lucky shot to even get to the point of killing her or injuring

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Aimi needs horrible death-bringing weaknesses, just with all the things she can do? I feel like more even dinky weaknesses should be in place, physical ones. Like having her be able to rust in certain conditions, short out in water but not die and some of the things I have previously mentioned above. Less battery life even, more time to charge ect.

It is heavily fortified, however, a hard enough shot in the correct location could result in an instantly fatal blow. Even minor damage can result in irreparable side effects, as her "brain" is incredibly delicate.

Here is something I found in the notes section I feel could benefit by being moved. If you are meaning for her brain to be so delicate ect you should put this into the weakness section it could help out a lot in seeing that Aimi honestly does have something that could potentially mess her up pretty good. uwub Along with this I suggest you add;

- While AIMI has several safety features to ensure her brain's survival, she can still experience malfunctions, and they can still be overloaded by outside forces. AIMI actually has a means of body temperature control, akin to liquid cooling, that circles her brain in order to keep it from overheating. Because of the fact that she rarely dips into hazardous temperatures unless processing a large quantity of numbers or engaging in many tasks at a time, her cooling functions best within natural temperatures. Extremely hot environments are very uncomfortable to AIMI for this reason, and she would probably malfunction and suffer serious damage within this brain were she tossed into a fire; long before her chassis actually began to melt, anyways.

to her weaknesses as well so people know that fire is a potential weakness for her. Bringing this into light will be very useful in helping people like me see what some actual weaknesses for her are. Way down in the notes section its easy to skim over and not notice, plus I think that fire should be added to the section in general. uwu b

I would really encourage you to give more weaknesses. When I look at Aimi's weaknesses I see ways around them being weaknesses at all, which is why I suggest strongly that more physical ones are added as a balance to all Aimi's physical strengths (these could be things she possible upgrades outs of as well. Or could have simple fixes for like Scotties sensitivity to light - he can just get some sunglasses BUT if those were off its still a weakness that affects him)

Personality:

owo moving on !

How does she judge “within reason” on protecting life if she doesn't have any regard for mortality? Does she have a quote of how many people are allowed to be killed per encounter? Why does a being of cold logic care that she is different from others? It seems inefficient and logically unsound to put such energy into caring if her “nakedness” is covered. If anything she shouldn't care one cent if people see that she's different. Given that you mentioned that she doesn't really get emotions I think this is a little left field as a trait at this time. I mean, if she doesn't know what a tear is...how is she even capable of understanding what the 'normal' is to even worried about being embarrassed that she isn't? On that, how is she able to already understand what being embarrassed is if she lacks the proper understanding of even what sadness is? Her self-conscious trait doesn't really make sense..all in all. If this is a trait you really want to pursue, I suggest you make it something that comes when she is capable of understanding more human emotions.

Other than that one trait, Aimi's personality is good since she will need to actually develop traits as she becomes more human uwu b

Backstory::

Looks good

Looks:

Good to go, I like her design a lot uwu <33

I really enjoyed reading about Aimi hope some of this helps.

Holy crap so much crit. o_o But I'm thankful.

Anyways, yeah, the "Three Laws" is just a bit of flavor text I stuck there when I first made the quest/hadn't fleshed out much beyond "It's a robot". It's kind of the rule in Sci-Fi robots, some laws coined by a writer. I think I explained it in depth to Yulo once, but I never went into detail here; dumb me.

So no, she isn't restricted by the laws, however, I think they're more of a mental bullet note? Despite being armed with a gun, she doesn't often have a kill shot in mind when dealing with people. I think the best way to say it is applicable is that she places a high value to human life, though it most often is applied towards "friendly" units, etcetc. I can always remove that stuff, though.

As for the creator, no, he's not stealing from the same company. Blame my poor writing for that. xD; He's more or less a talented science guy who also has a knack for inventing fake identities. His scam usually goes by creating a false identity, making up credentials and getting a job at a company. I think he'd target companies either by their work/possibility of having something exciting or worthwhile for him to steal, or perhaps he is even contacted by competitors via some online pseudonym he possesses to infiltrate and take before completely destroying any original copies. Something like that.

Motivation - Another thing I kind of discussed with others but never actually stuck in my thread. She's not perfect at combat, but I think she's probably at a higher starting point than most who tend to enter the academy. She was built originally to fight to some degree - so it's not exactly her powers or her aim, anything like that that needs a ton of work; or at least in a way that normal classes could assist her.

I'll be honest and say it completely slipped my mind what classes she would take. Though yeah, the hand to hand thing could work. She'll also need to work on her own improvised battle strategy, and as she is given more blue prints, she'll probably have to adjust to using them/learn them. I imagine the booster will be especially difficult, as well as the cannon - even if they are late stage.

AIMI adapts poorly to new things, weapons wise. So even if she's at least adequate with the rifle, she'll really need help in a lot of other places.

@Powers Ohh, you mean the rookie-sidekick-hero thing? Sure, I can think of that.

The rifle's weight isn't what really forces her to lower the gun - it's more a stability issue. At least the way I imagined it. The gun is attached to her arm, but firing it can easily jerk her arm around. She holds her arm our and braces her hand against the gun itself to steady it - but I don't think she outright aims down the sight, as a human would. Even snipers have to put a lot of calculation into their shots before looking through the scope and firing, I guess I just pictured her aiming as being sort of a mental thing than a straight out visual thing. Like... she could judge where her aim would end up from the vantage point of her arm by calculating the distance from her view to arm, and, uhhg... that came out so messy. lol

I imagined it as a semi-automatic, able to fire .223's or 5.56's interchangeably. The feed system would likely be towards the outer portion of her arm, while the effective range is roughly 400-600m, though the drop will be more noticeable the farther her bullets go. I imagine the rifle mode itself has a lot of weaknesses. Because the digistruct device is really at it's most rough form, there's going to be a lot of problems with what she creates. I think weaknesses in general would be something like;

- Tendency to overheat (The % would rise depending on how long a period she was firing for. However, even with her weapon being freshly constructed, there would probably be a 15% chance of overheating in the use of the first magazine. However, this % would rise dramatically with each additional clip, with the second clip being about 30% - each additional clip would double the percent of overheating. When that chance for overheat reached it's limit, her gun would be hot to the touch and refuse to fire, or it would fall apart.)
- She can not create her own ammo, and loading does take time due to the somewhat awkward feeding placement/mechanism. Also, if her nanites begin to cannibalize herself WHILE a magazine is inserted, there is a chance that the nanites might try to eat through the munitions themselves, setting off the blackpowder housed in the casings of each unfired round - depending on how many bullets remain in her gun and it's magazine, it would create anything from a minor flame to a small explosion that can rip her gun apart/send shrapnel at any friendly nearby. The damage might cause minor damage to the "shell" of her arm, but AIMI is generally unphased - it's really those within a roughly 20-foot raidus or so of her that should be worried.

As AIMI ranks up, chances for overheat and cannibalization will gradually decrease due to the work that's being done with her actual digistruct device.

@Digistruct

Hah, I think Aimi is pretty well protected against water, even on the inside. However, at her current stage her protection against electricity is pretty poor in comparison. A good zap on her opened panel can leave her stunned and completely shut down her ability to digistruct for a short while. As for how long it takes, it's pretty quick, maybe 10 seconds or so at most - however, add with that the fact that she needs to load ammunition and take aim and it's a good 30 seconds she takes before really jumping into the battle.

lol I didn't really consider her to be able to fly with the boosters, but yeah, I have to admit that it is a bit much. I'll have to think of something else to bolster her blueprints with, so she actually has something besides just stability to gain. And going with that, yeah, I definitely need to think up the blueprints.

Hahah, and no, she isn't perfect with each weapon she gains. I think Aimi takes in combat knowledge from taking in books, from watching actual battles and from calculations. If she gained the sword, she wouldn't be perfect with it, not by a long shot. She could probably manage a few swings, but no real defensive parry movements or anything beyond what any person who picks up a sword could do.

When she gets the sword, I imagine Aimi will be at the conscious stage to turn down her Creator's attempt to "integrate" the knowledge into her head with programs and videos, and will opt for the classes. She really does want to attend classes, lol.

@Future Power Plans

Yeah, I was really debating whether to keep the nanites thing, since Shnazz didn't like it much. I originally changed it to a "not likely to happen", but I can take it off no problem. As for the EMP shield, that's alright, too. I was just a bit concerned because I kept seeing quests for I HAVE MAGNETS, I HAVE STATIC. I HAVE ELECTRICITY. I was like, "Oooh, if they're around Aimi is screwed." Aimi more or less is insolated against minor electricity - but she can easily be overloaded. I think her best physical resistances are probably against water and physical damage - though her "armor" can definitely be blown apart like anything else, and it's easy to break her down once you've got a main protective bit of her chassis opened up.

@Weaknesses

Hmm, well, I only really considered kind of broad-range viruses a minor inconvenience. Like, something that she could contract from a hacker or a malignant source not having a direct link to her. I guess I had the idea of it being more or less like getting a cold or flu? It would be quite painful for her, but it wouldn't cause Aimi to go on a rampage or go along with the orders of another.

That said, her creator does have a lot more strings connected than even Aimi knows about, if that makes any sense. He can assume control, or perhaps more directly, just cut off Aimi's ability to carry out certain actions. Like, if she wants to walk a certain way, he can set it so that her body will refuse to move that way, like a mental block, and she will have the desire to move only in the opposite direction. It's not so much a virus, but more of a RAT, I guess?

I think she'd have a general phobia of hackers, techno sorts, etc. She'd honestly probably avoid Hack like the plague because she's pretty sensitive about her own system and the like. I don't think she'd straight up run away or attack them, but Aimi would more or less keep her distance and monitor them. It would be much more difficult for such a character to contact or even befriend her.

And yeah, sorry about how OP she may seem. I tried to keep it as, uhh.. balanced as I could? But then I think, "Oh, she's a robot. So she's probably got these inherit properties." etcetc And yeeah, I really need to work on writing things out.

I think as far s bullet proof goes, I mean it's really quite literal - she can handle bullets well. However, she is quite susceptible to heat and to electricity. She has minor protections against this, but not many. Electricity basically does to her what a lightning strike will do to a human, the thing is, it just requires a lot less electricity to do it. As for heat, it's less a danger to her battery and more a danger to her "brain". Even with some cooling, day to day activity keeps her running pretty hot. Raising the temperature can lead to slowed functions, glitching in her general thinking or fighting (think her aim is way off, I suppose), and an eventual break down or even "death".

As for her weak spots, I didn't mean to make it seem small, but I guess I didn't want to outright give it away. Still, it's actually quite easy to tell. Her best protected spots are her chest, legs, and head. However, the portion of armor that covers her back has been mostly removed for the sake of wiring in her "spine". This leaves her bare bones, what would essentially be the muscle of a human, exposed. The fibers on her back can probably withstand an attempt to slice with a knife - but they aren't bullet proof. Piercing them will cause what is essentially blood - a silvery substance essential for her fluid locomotion to leak out. AIMI does not produce this substance naturally, so it would actually effect her motor skills and she'd probably damage whatever machinations assist in the movements of her legs and shoulders were enough to leak out. Or something. I only sort of thought of it lightly, I have to admit.

And yeah, I'll definitely move that in. I've been meaning to move a LOT from notes in. I'll definitely attempt to rebalance her strengths and weaknesses.

@Personality

I think I mentioned it above, but I guess the "within reason" portion is more of not going for lethal blows in most cases. So she'll generally avoid aiming for the chest, groin/thigh and head area. It would definitely make a shot much more difficult at longer ranges. I think she may try to incapacitate them some other way - firing at doors, at hanging objects, to that degree, etc.

Her "shyness" isn't really out of true shyness, as far as her body goes. I think as far as her back is concerned, it's for two main reasons. Her creator more or less told her, since Aimi would look pretty odd outside of Sewit, that she was to "blend in". Seeing other people in clothes, she may have taken this to an extreme, deeming it necessary to cover up the more awkward portions of her body like her head and back. The secondary reason would be for the fact that her back is a pretty large weak point. I think her current "shyness", even if not truly being shy, is more out of a desire to seem ordinary and not draw attention. As Aimi developed further, however, she would more or less keep this trait, but for a different reason. Her back is pretty crazy looking, and her skin shines pretty bright due to it's mostly metallic surface.

I'll definitely try to word/mesh things better so they aren't so jarring placed together. I more or less added a few traits, then tacked more on later when they came to me. I'll be the first to admit they don't all fit perfectly, haha.

OMG THANKS FOR THE CRIT. To the obvious areas, the weaknesses/Strengths and the personality, I'll begin changing those. Let me know if some of my explanations were sufficient, and when the changes are made, if they're up to snuff. I'm actually surprised you didn't find a problem with her backstory, lol. Thanks for the crit cheeekieee

Alright, changed "that personality" trait a bit. Removed the sections that were given a no, and edited Aimi's strengths and weaknesses a bit (specifically, the bit about her recharge and chair, as well as her physical weaknesses to bullets and the like). Updated powers with the appropriate growth chart, and added a cool down between constructs, as well as a cooldown for overheating and the like for later stages.

Edit: Tried to balance the cannon a bit and added another physical weaknesses that needed some explanation.

ALRIGHT.

I see there has been some heavy critting going around here, so I'll keep that in mind....

I think this profile is very well-thought out and detailed and very long
I am dead serious when I say that centering all the text makes it more difficult to read, let alone skim ): Just the mere length will encourage lazy/busy readers to skim. Keep that in mind!

As far as OP goes... I don't think AIMI is OP--
There has been a big misunderstanding; with AIMI's strengths being put into the powers/abilities category. Which has been fixed, so I encourage anyone who has read this profile before to read it again.

AIMI is a robot... with an advanced "impressive" computer brain, strength rivaling an adult male, fights no matter how damaged she is, and does not require sleep. Also she can materialize weapons with digital blueprints.

Seems kinda OP, right?

Now, here are the WEAKNESSES: she is unstable, she is extremely heavy, electricity can cause malfunction in her system, magnetic forces to her brain can kill her(fatal), extreme heat causes her serious damage/malfunction, and her body doesn't not provide her protection against explosions, gunshots, nanites, and viral attacks. She is lacking understanding of human life as a loss and teamwork skills.

These are some very serious weaknesses in my opinion, and should be taken into account when judging whether AIMI is overpowered or not.

In my opinion, AIMI isn't overpowered at all; any villain with a gun, electric/magnetic/heat-producing/explosive powers, or any villain who is tech-savvy and can send viruses into AIMI's system has a huge advantage over her, unless AIMI whips up a really good plan in her head. BUT, AIMI's intellect is only limited to information that has already been downloaded into her brain, right? She's not capable of creative thinking, right? (correct me if I'm wrong)

Her intellect if anything is only useful to a certain extent; when put into a situation that doesn't fit with any the information she already had stored in her head.... AIMI is kind of vulnerable.

So anyway enough rambling, I think you've done a wonderful job balancing AIMI; if anything, I think she's good to go. But I'm not an RP mod. :T I will leave these to the others....

If anything, I think... you should either reduce her weaknesses or re-give her that sword blue-print xD i mean seriously that's a lot of weaknesses.
most peeps don't even have weaknesses(they only have personality weaknesses)

Okay so... I was staying out of things since, hey, I'm a shopgoer who due to real life responsibilities has been very, very MIA.

But I'm really just going to break my own personal rule of "stay out of things that don't concern you" and voice my major concerns dealing with this character's powers. Especially after reading the above commentary.

To try and best address things, I'll be spitting them up by each aspect of her powers, and within each section will talk specifically about the pros and cons of her powers. Hopefully this breakdown will better show how Aimi is currently coming off as OP.

Extra notation: I'm currently taking time out of my "FML I NEED TO DO HOMEWORK DUE IN TWO HOURS" schedule to do this, so I'm only reading what's been said in her actual profile. If I'm missing anything that was clarified/stated in later posts, well... it wasn't in the profile sooo 8'D

I will however agree with the above that the centered text makes things very hard to read. I didn't read your Notes post mainly due to how "WALL OF TEXT" it is. I strongly recommend you reformat it into something like:

General Key Point
Explanation blurb
  • Extra
  • Minor
  • Notes
  • As
  • Needed

Digistruction
Obviously the biggest part to Aimi's powers. The first thing I notice is that it says, "in-built to her right forearm" which to me makes me think that she is only capable of using the nanites in just her right forearm. Something I actually liked.

The first weapon of a rifle is fine, and I do like how she is required to bring her own ammunition around. That gives her a nice potential hick-up of "CRAP OUTTA AMMO" or "...wait where did I put my ammo oh crap." A good weakness for this power. Even though, honestly there is a foil to this - her massive carrying capacity. So her weakness? Isn't... as big of a weakness as it could be, but it is still a good weakness.

Now we go into her second weakness: cannibalistic nanites. Also a good weakness! Great, so this battle-bot has a high risk of getting taken out by her own power, awes--

"Were she made of flesh and blood, this would be rather horrific; luckily, however, what this means for her is maintenance and having her nanites replenished before they begin to degrade and risk this cannibalization."

....scratch that for a major weakness then. "Well this thing could damage me, but all I need to do is switch out the parts and oops all better no worries~" The only way I can see this as maintaining what an actually great weakness this could be is if Aimi has no inner sensors or warnings to tell her, "HEY NANITES ARE STARTING TO EAT YOU FYI." If, instead, Aimi could be caught very off-guard by the sudden "attack" by the nanites, then I would have no problem with the fact that she can fix her own weakness, which honestly thereby negates it as a weakness.

Rifle Mode
Opening line of this I have no issue with. It's this next bit, and subsequent minor sections:
"However, due to the weight of the weapon and the power behind it, Aimi is forced to grasp it with her opposite hand over-top, which greatly reduces her maneuverability. Often, Aimi will have to drop her weapon when drastically changing direction."

...oh no. She has to hold her weapon. While she's long-range from her opponent. What a horrible weakness this is, indeed. :

There are no real weaknesses in her Rifle Mode, minus her need for external ammunition. Please do not word her needing to support her weapon as one XD; Even saying "If Aimi runs out, she will be stuck in hand to hand (which she is admittedly not very good at)" is not big a weakness. She's a freaking heavy metal robot. If she smacks you hard enough, you will go down. Have you ever gotten socked in the face with a heavy metal bar? Or, a reference I've personally got, a normal rifle? It really freaking hurts. Please, elaborate on the gun overheating. That and the limited ammunition is actually pretty good for a weakness for her on this, just... make it more of a clear weakness. Right now it seems like it's just something she can shrug off after two or three seconds of a cool-down. What happens when the gun overheats? Do the nanites become unstable, does she risk actually losing her weapon for a bit, until the nanites cool down/she can get them to reform?

Electro Magnetic Pulse Shield
...drawing power from what? I recall this being somehow connected to the battery that runs... like, her heart/brain/something. Either way, if she's drawing power from anything, then there needs to be a consequence for it. Drawing power from her limbs to run the shield? She can't move. Drawing power from anything else? Give it a weakness.

Better yet.

Keep the shield to only around the immediate area of her battery and brain.

If she's otherwise hit by the EMP, Aimi then suffers temporary "paralysis".

Please keep in mind you're giving her a defense against something "fatal." Most characters in this shop?
  • Get hit in the head too hard, you're dead.
  • Fall off a building, you're dead.
  • Get stabbed just right, you're dead.
  • Get electrocuted with enough juice, you're dead.
  • Get hit by Aimi's bullets, you're dead.

Most characters don't really have nice safeguards against death.

You say this is to protect Aimi from others with electric powers... okay. So where's everyone's protection from Aimi's "LOL I HEAD-SHOT YOU YOU'RE DEAD"? The ammo you're giving her? Can maim people. This is not lulzy ammunition this is stuff that can seriously hurt, maim, or kill whoever is going up against her. Drawing from a man I know in the military, "5.56 rounds are used by the military cause they don't through and through as often..... which means that round is now buried in your gut and bleeding you out."

If you want to give Aimi a defense around just her brain and battery, then okay fine. But please realize that "well if someone has electric/magnetic powers then she's screwed" is not a valid argument in this situation. Characters should not be geared so they're impossible to beat, or even impossible to kill. I know Black Jack would be screwed if she ever went up against Aimi, because all she's got is her card minions and a knife. Most characters would be screwed going up against Aimi.

Just trying to put it into perspective here.

Taking a small break here to say:

PLEASE REORGANIZE THIS WHOLE PROFILE.

Holy crap.

I'm sorry, but having to read through all that about her powers, with bits of strengths and weaknesses in each one, then coming down to this section about how she'll advance through the stages... then seeing the whole separate sections of Strengths and Weaknesses....

If you have this much information about everything in so many different sections, it makes it very, very, very hard to understand exactly what you're trying to do and what you're saying. This has me so jumbled, that I realize now I'll be likely repeating a lot of points, or things I'll say in later sections might be answers to things I had questions about above. I'm not editing what I've already written, but take this as a sign to you that you really need to step back, reorganize, and reformat.

Yes, writing a lot can be great, but for a single profile? I'm sorry, but this really should be a sign to you that there's problems if you need to think about scaling things back a little .____.;;;;;

Rookie
30 seconds isn't a huge downfall to her "battle-ready-ness," but I'd really reorganize your profile here to include all relevant information together. Like throwing the information about her gun up with her gun, etc. Still leaving my earlier questions about the gun overheating, though. More elaboration plz =w=b

Do love how if she remakes another rifle too soon though, it can heavily backfire. Very nice weakness <33333

What is the rate of cannibalization? If they're just in her right arm, as you mention above, why are they moving to her side, etc?

Sidekick

I have issues with her going from a long-range, to a long-range-plus-short-range fighter. Okay so she was bad at hand to hand before, now she gets a sword that... even if she's not skilled in it, she can still stab you or chop a limb off because, let's face reality here: a sword is a sword no matter how you use it.

Don't take away any of the weaknesses of the rifle. Considering you've now given her two weapons, neither with huge fall-backs... just... don't. Keep all the stats from her previous stage the same for her Sidekick stage. If you're going to give her an additional power--and yes, a new way to use her Digistruction is a new power--then you basically lose the ability to make her previous powers better with a character like this.

Honestly? Don't change the cannibalism for the nanites. That is her biggest weakness. Don't lessen it! Again, her weakness really isn't a weakness right now. You've got all these ways that she just circumvents them as weaknesses, to the point that her weaknesses are voided as actual weaknesses.

Hero

....No.
No.
No.
No.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

Super Cannon that fires charged plasma. And a sword. And a rifle. And.

Just.

Christ no.

"It is effective against flesh and synthetic materials, creating an acid-like piercing through whatever it hits"
LOLOL UM TRY IT WILL UTTERLY DESTROY THE FLESHY BITS. Do you not realize how OverPowered this addition is? Coupled with everything else? If the character's powers are just plasma related, then not only must their fall-backs be pretty high up there, but the character really can't get anything else to go with those powers.

For Hero stage, take out the Super Cannon entirely. Give her a better use with her rifle and sword, and leave it at that. Don't touch the cannibalization, keep that as a major weakness.

Strengths
Space them out more, it's reading as a wall of text at the moment e.e;;

I honestly need to speed this up since I've got less than an hour to finish my homework then go to class.

SO.

  • Aimi's flexible and can do great things with her limited number of blueprints, which really makes me wonder why she needs to get more then if she's already good with what's she's got
  • Has a far greater speed/stamina than an average teenage girl (so highly increased carrying capacity for her ammo, as mentioned above)
  • Is literally a computer in how she processes information, making her superior to majority of her human/alien counterparts on either side of the battleground
  • Can fight on despite massive injuries, per being non-living.
  • Does not require sleep, only needs 6 hours of recharge time despite how much she might do in combat (so completely unlike anyone living who will likely need more sleep to help deal with the overexertion) and can sense if you're gonna attack/disturb her while "sleeping" so disconnecting her seems like it'd be a little freaking hard.
  • She doesn't fear death, lucky duck.

Weaknesses
Space them out more, it's just reading as a wall of text at the moment.

Her technology has not really been shown to be an actual weakness. She can just repair herself, or go "sleep" for a bit, etc. Out of all her weaknesses, I am honestly calling some major "BS" on this one. It's not a weakness. If you want it to be, please take out a bunch of the work-arounds you've got for her, many of which I've mentioned above in my critique.

  • Non-human appearance, okay.
  • Heavy, okay.
  • Natural weakness to electricity... okay... GREAT WEAKNESS. So why the hell are you giving her the EMP Shield that'll completely negate it as a weakness? Like I said before about the shield, if it is only able to protect her battery and brain, then it's a MUCH BETTER WEAKNESS. Because then her BODY can still be fubared for a bit by the electricity, even if Aimi herself is protected from death.
  • Overheats in the heat. Okay, good one, I actually really like this. Lord knows how many times my computer's crashed during the summer due to the heat.
  • Okay so Aimi isn't a walking shield. Good to know... but I don't count this as a huge weakness, seeing as... herp. 99% of characters in this shop are really the same way. So I more count this as a "normal" weakness rather than a big character-specific one. Still good to know, though. Still, keep in mind that the fact that she's not susceptible to blades, but only bullets/"aggressive power" does still make this a large strength for her as well, as most people would be in a shitton of trouble against those powers.
  • I like that she doesn't weigh human life over the mission. Please don't ever make her lose this, I love this for her <3
  • This feels like just an elaboration on the above? I'm not sure how this is a separate weakness. I really wouldn't even count this as a weakness, just... a personality note.
  • Not good with a team, a good weakness, but likely temporary, which is fine, just keep that in mind.
  • Wait. How can someone even get these viruses/hacking attempts in on her? How exactly could someone get into this close proximity, hook-up, etc? I'm not really fully seeing this as a weakness, but mainly in that I don't really see an opening for someone to get that close to her. MAYBE when she's "sleeping," but you just said in her strengths that she can still wake up if she senses others around her. So... could be a great weakness, it just feels like there's too many defenses against it.

In Summary
Aimi could be a very cool character. I do like that she's a robot, I do think she can be very fun to Rp with.

However. Right now, she stands as very, very Over Powered.

She can do far too much, with.... really not enough taken away from her. Yes you have a lot of weaknesses for her, but many feel like they just... don't actually work as weaknesses. Or aren't weaknesses concerning her actual powers, but rather just boots of being a robot.

Her powers themselves? Have a crapton going on. So strengths of being a robot, armed with her own mini-armory... no real draw backs... can't really die...

Um.

And you're gonna tell me that's not over powered?

Ahahaha.

No.

My final note:

WHY WOULD YOU INCLUDE THE LAWS, THEN NOT ACTUALLY USE THEM?

Take out the flavor text if you won't actually use it. Thanks for the tease. I was excited that she might have some programming drama against not being able to hurt humans, but most of her opponents would be human. That would have been such an amazing Rp plot you have no freaking idea what sort of bridges you are burning by not doing that. But if you won't use them, take them out of the profile.

PostPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:46 pm
I don't really get your, "I'm going to stay out of this," kind of phrasing. I didn't know something was going on? I mean, I'd really all around like to avoid my quest becoming some place for people to kind of underhandedly attack one another.

A-Anyways, moving on.. I don't think I ever stated that Aimi had an infinite, or even especially high carrying capability. Ammunition is pretty heavy and she doesn't create it herself. She'd be able to carry maybe a few boxes but, in the long run, that isn't going to do much. The maintenance and replacing of her nanites isn't really a simple task. Aimi does not carry around extra reserves of nanites or anything, or even spare parts. If she is cannibalized, she'll have to remain that way for the remainder of the battle. Actually repairing herself requires that she travel all the way back to Sewit and wait some time for her creator to fabricate new parts for her. Chances are that as a Rookie she won't be able to reach "home" til severe cannibalization takes place. So I don't really understand the criticism in that the nanites aren't a true weakness. The way you phrase it seems to imply that you want her to never be able to actually repair the damage wrought by nanites, which is INCREDIBLY unfair considering I've seen plenty of characters who's weaknesses were purely in their personality, and far from permanently maiming.

I didn't really write the Rifle Mode with a weakness in mind, at least in the sense that I didn't go, "Okay, this has to be super weak." I just gave the facts I had in my head, which were that she had to stop and, with one arm aim and the other arm steady the weapon. I've outlined plenty of weaknesses in the actual weakness section, so I don't really see why the rifle section itself has to be a weakness? It would be the main ability of her power for her entire first stage, so why would it have to be so weak?

I also elaborated on the gun overheating CONSIDERABLY in the tree that Cheekie asked me to create. The little blurb about the rifle mode is mostly there from before I created it.

You're the first person to really have a huge problem with the EMP shield, and considering it's a hero stage item, I don't really see the huge problem? Aimi can still be destroyed, it's simply protection against a trivial thing that most people are absolutely unaffected by. The complaint that Aimi could maim someone is also kind of ridiculous - because a LOT of the powers in the shop, put into hypotheticals in the same way, can kill someone. Again, you're the first to really find any huge problem with a gun. If you're really going to going to make a complaint against something with the power to hurt someone severely, then there's a lot more to look at besides my quest.

As for the organizing, yes, it's something I do need to get around to. I've added and removed a lot since the first draft, so it is a bit of a mess. Though it's not really the easiest thing to remedy.

Sidekick/Rookie/Hero

For the nanites moving to her side, it's more or less just to give Aimi a larger area of being effected over. It may not make the most sense, but, well, I'm trying to be as balanced as possible. As for the overheating, I'm really not sure on how to elaborate further. The gun gets too hot, it fails. The percentage of failure increases with each subsequent magazine, etc.

I'm getting tons of mixed feedback. "The sword is okay, just make it a power for later" "Now it's not." Honestly, if I don't add something, then how is the character really progressing as a fighter? And let's be completely honest here, speaking in lethality terms... Just OoC, no students are going to end up killing each other, or the villains. It just feels like a really petty thing to argue about when MOST of the powers, again, can be taken in a lethal sense. The entire point of Aimi's ability is being able to create multiple blue prints - if somebody uses many different gadgets, you don't call it a multiple power. I've seen characters who use gadgets AND powers, but they're never faulted for it.

I'll think on the cannon, but again, it wasn't faulted before )then again, I only tried to explain/think on it in depth because I was asked to do a tree). I really want variety, and considering how varied some of the other abilities have, having two items that really anyone can use just didn't seem, I dunno.. good enough to really be considered a "Hero" stage?

Strengths and Weaknesses

Again, I never said she could carry more ammo. Carrying ammo is not only about strength, but actually having the free hands to do it. Even grown men can't actually carry THAT much ammo. You're way overestimating the ability, she does not have infinite ammuniton or anything close.

Her Cyber Mind is best applicable to numbers. There are things that human/alien counterparts can certainly do better.

Her recharge period IS akin to sleep, but it isn't true sleep because she is not organic, and I never said it was only 6 hours - I said that after a battle she must recharge WITHIN six hours. So I don't really know how to respond to this criticism. Her sense of being "tampered" with is just as I stated - in the case of being outright assaulted. If someone hit you while you were in bed, you'd wake up. Same with Aimi. If you attempted to tamper with her chair, she probably wouldn't notice.

As for weaknesses, the EMP shield does not guard from straight up electricity. It's also a hero level addition. The shield would literally protect only against Electromagnetic Radiation, or rather, weapons/explosives that utilize them - not electricity itself.

I also changed the virus thing? She can get worse viruses, but pretty much the most powerful things would require basically trying to hack into her when she was off guard, ie asleep. Would you want someone to take over your character, or even be possible of it without much effort? Even if it occurred, it would fall within the realms of god-modding. So it seems strange to me to make a complaint relating to that not being easily accomplished.

I feel that calling her really overpowered is a bit unfair. Actually killing each other doesn't happen in b/c RP, at least without a lot of approval. At her strongest all she can do is resist EMP grenades and, with reasonable cooldown, use 1 of 3 weapons. Her technology is experimental, and I think the nanites are a well enough counter. I mentioned it before, but I've seen many other characters who's weaknesses weren't even remotely related to their abilities. I've loaded on a LOT of flaws to Aimi to counter her abilities, and a lot of them will restrict her in combat and day to day life. So I guess I don't really see why I have to do even more to neuter her ability to create a gun and sword.

I guess I'll be making more changes, figuring out which direction I want to go and trying to better organize. Though I'd really appreciate it if my quest didn't get attention because there was some kind of drama going on between other people.

I'd also like to point out that saying things like, "THIS is not a real weakness because humans are susceptible to it!" is kind of unfair. Aimi has a lot of downfalls that a normal person is not susceptible too. She must recharge within hours of combat. She sinks immediately, is incredibly heavy and unbalanced with her sword, and can be completely "erased" by a strong enough magnetic force; things no other student of the academy really suffers from. Your crit, just the first line, made it sort of clear that this was a crit out of spite for someone, rather than any real interest for my quest. You just wanted a chance to prove someone wrong, at least the way I take it, and that's pretty unfair. Repeatedly faulting her use of weapons completely misses the point, because that's the entire thing about her character; she's a weapon learning to be human. Her emotional strengths will change as her emotional weaknesses do. She may not understand death all that well, but that's just as likely to change as her ability to work as a team it.

Back to the crit, though. Yes, I know it would probably be interesting, but it doesn't really fit Aimi as a character. She was built as a weapon, and she's meant to assign value to human life for her own reasons, not purely out of some programming. So it's been removed.

Seeing as I'd rather not have things get out of hand, I'm going to step in and ask that everyone try to take it easy. Everyone's opinion is valuable, but tone and wording should be less abrasive so others don't feel on the defensive about what's being crit. The best method is to be specific without belittling commentary. Positive reinforcement...! Personal attacks in general are frowned upon and won't be tolerated, I would like to think that this is not the case here though. So let's try to keep things on an unbiased, straightforward level in general. And certainly no one is trying to dishearten you Mo. I think everyone is trying to help to the best of their ability.

I think what Kailey meant about staying away from criting your quest is that it's already received two staff crits explaining how it's overpowered and she's simply giving her outside POV on it because some of the things Cheekie and I already pointed out have not been addressed or revised still.

This is your quest, and of course everyone is attached to their own creations. But in order to promote well-rounded RP and happy owners/shop-goers alike, some things need to be advised against in order to keep balance within the shop. I understand that Aimi is a robot and automatically gains a lot of advantages that humans don't have, especially with her digistruction ability. And it's a great idea, but your application of her powers and trying to do too much can be a big turn off to other RPers whose powers and abilities are limited to a single thing and stay within that range. A character with strength, stamina, defense, range, super-intelligence etc, Aimi stands above average on everything and as she stages these advantages only seem to grow even greater.

This is the worry. And this is probably why she will not get approved currently to be honest. In fact it's a tad embarrassing that someone non-staff had to reiterate a lot of these things that us as staff have tried to explain already. Albeit not as politely as it could have been said... We are trying to help you balance your character, but there is only so much we can say or do to make it clear if you don't take into consideration our suggestions. We're not going to accept a character that we as a group feel will make others uncomfortable, and by we, I mean RP managers of SA. Explaining away the issues without modifying them isn't going to change our standpoint very much.

I strongly think that robots are a great quest idea, and I really do like a lot of aspects of your quest and the high potential that it has for plots and just being interesting all-around. We all do! But if you're not going to take our opinions seriously, there isn't much else to say except that maybe you should consider starting from scratch with a new quest or rewrite Aimi. Especially if 3 crits are still not enough for the idea that Aimi is OPed to set in.
