The winds of change always blow, it seems, and the Usafi are not immune to it. While it's been a while since the strange and unknown cubs found a home amid the temples, problems have grown along side them. Sayen's noticed very fast that even though there's four new cubs, and other cubs are now adults, the colony is still very small. Recovery has been very slow to happen. So a call went out to the colony...

Aaah, this is the part you're all excited about, isn't it? The prizes ~ For this one, I'll be rolling a page, and then a post number. If it lands on one of my posts, I'll simply re-roll! Hopefully it doesn't keep landing on me, we all know how much the randomizer likes to mess with our heads XD

The winner will get this girl!

User Image

Pretty, isn't she? I know I think she is! The more you post and RP, the more chance you have of winning her, remember that! smile

Here are some simple rules to abide by!

1. Keep this civil! While some arguing amid the leopards is okay, no all-out brawls, please!
2. This leopardess must remain in the colony! It'd be nice if any cubs she has also remain, but that'd be very rude of me to demand that they do. What her cubs do is the choice of the owners in compliance with what the mother and father owner(s) ask!
3. You may only RP leopards here! I'll be happy to allow this to count as a JRP!
4. Cubs MAY join this RP! Good luck getting the adults to listen to them, though xd
5. Remember that this will be about ideas from the colony as a whole, so no idea will be called stupid!
6. Have fun!

The striped leopardess sat upon the stone steps leading up into the temple, looking at the assembled colony. Two plagues had not been kind to them, and she hoped this would change. Their numbers seemed to be in negative growth, despite all current efforts. It was time to change those efforts. "My fellow leopards.. My people, my colony... I'm afraid a change has come to be needed... I will not open our borders to permanent non-leopard residents that aren't companion animals, of course... But we need help. That is why I believe it's time we ally ourselves to other prides and colonies. To the north somewhere is a colony of cheetahs... And to the east across the plains is a mixed colony of leopards and cheetahs..." She nodded to a pink leopard next to her. "Sakura here has told me of them. It is my belief that if we seend ambassadors to the colony and to the pride, we may find help with our numbers... Or simply existing. What say you all to this? Do you know of someone we may seek help from? Other methods to raise our numbers?"

Moyo sat among the assembled leopards, tail swishing behind her in slight boredom while she waited for their chieftess to speak. The news the other feline brought to them caused her to lift a brow. In all her time within the colony, her whole life as a matter of fact, the Usafi had really never wanted to ask for the help of anyone else. They had been a colony that wanted to remain self reliant. Moyo wasn't sure how she felt about this prospect, so she, like many others it seemed, had to think a moment, contemplating the choices before them. She had, in her few short trips into the rogue lands (when she'd sneak off to explore for a moment or two), she had heard of another leopard colony that let in cheetahs and the like.

"Well. We have been isolated for a long time. It might be good to not only create an alliance with another group, but if we do so with one that has leopards, bring some new blood into the colony." Moyo wasn't the most mentally stable leopard ever, but she understood that inbreeding was bad, and that if they could fix that not yet prevalent issue as well as this other one, why not? Perhaps these plagues that had caused them such grief had been a cause of too little genetic variety?

T
he jungle was thick and unique, Gwaredd hadn't quite seen anything like it in his days wandering about the map of Africa. He had thought he'd gotten far and wide, but clearly his ideas of seeing 'all' was a bit fuzzy on the details. The forest and plant life was lush, the air seemed heavy and he caught himself a couple times needing to pause and take a deep inhale. The thick air would take some getting used to he was sure.

Besides obviously not being accustomed, he was a sitting duck. Black pelt, bright unusual pink markings and an attitude on him. He walked with a bounce in his step that clearly stated he would try and be ready for anything, perhaps an easy thing to call it would be, stubborn.

---

The oohs and awes had subsided in him, mentally of course, he was a rather quiet leopard, becoming lively when he got to know others a bit more intimately. Among several others he was stationed near an edge of the grouping. Before him were a sea of heads, not a large sea, but enough to create something of a crowd. Before them was someone of importance, he hadn't met her, but he'd seen her thrice before. More than not from a backside perspective.

She was their chieftess, the female leader of the pride. Gwaredd, thinking his awe had truly disappeared, was in awe once more. The power radiated as she spoke, a true leopard of confidence in knowing what she was, who she spoke to and took matters seriously. Though he was not up to speed on the entire subject, he was aware of the dwindling numbers. He joined imagining the masses and large groups of leopards, perhaps it was tough times or more to it, but he began to feel worry build up. He may not know anyone here, just yet, but this was still a home for some and survival for all.

Upon this, he began to think deeply. Perhaps being an outsider would help. Though he couldn't imagine how.

Sayen gave a nod, looking to the white leopardess. One of Fu's grandchildren... She'd been keeping her eye on them all, every single one of Fu's descendants. They had her wary about if any insanity had passed down. If it did, they all hid it very well. "The important question after everyone determines that this is a good idea is.. Which prides? There's at least one out there dominated by a leopard..." She paused, turning to her nephew. "What did you say their name was?"

Sakura rose to his paws, stepping forward. "Out there is a pride called the Bhanu'Ecchumati out there, off on the other side of the continent, by the sea. They're led by a leopard named Thona, at least they were when I was out that way. Most of the pride is made up of leopards as far as I could tell, perhaps they'd be willing to exchange members." He heard some disapproval of the notion, but pressed on. "Obviously, inbreeding is a problem in ANY pride, but I think we could ALL find benefit if we were to set up a cub exchange between prides... Unrelated cubs from us to them, and unrelated cubs from them to us..." It was a pretty solid idea in his mind, anyway.

The leopardess gave a nod of her head at her nephew's suggestions. "While the idea is that we make our numbers grow... Genetic diversity IS a problem we'll have to deal with, as well." Her eyes soon fell on a dark male marked with purple and pink wings. "You're a new face, what says you on the matter?" The opinions of those from outside were, to Sayen, rather valuable.

The white and brown leopardess watched their fearless leader with an impassive expression. If she only knew that this one female had inherited Fu's insanity, or at least a bit of it, and her maliciousness... what would she do, Moyo wondered. Perhaps run her out or have her killed? Her line was from that of a usurper afterall. To Moyo, no one could make a worse offense than that sort of betrayal.. but... that wasn't something she could avenge at the moment, really. She had no supporters and to be frank, she needed to be a team player right not. The colony depended on it and Moyo sucked at fending for herself in the plains. Sure. She had caught that one rabbit to show that obnoxious cub, but, if she had to leave the colony and hunt out of the jungle... she knew she would starve.

She snapped out of her mental railroad and spun her attention to the newcommer. She eyed him up and down and lifted a brow. She had to admit, he had a stunning coat, and was a male. Males were great for making cubs. She like him already. He should definitely be allowed to join, she thought. Not that -she- wanted to breed with him, but, hey, there would be some lady here that would likely get all doe-y eyed at him.

Tables had turned, voices rose and fell, it wouldn't be long before some form of riot perhaps? would break out and this would turn to a possibly bad scene. Gwaredd found himself thinking a little to hard and had pushed himself into daydreaming, still attempting to find ideas, but in not a fashionable way. His eyes had been glued to the leader in this daze and when Sakura had finished speaking, her voice startled him out of his daze.

That was when, suddenly, he realized that a lot of eyes had turned from the previous speaker, to him. It was certainly a difficult moment, what would he say? Would he say the right thing? What could a newcomer help in a new world, that was only new to him? Would he suggest something that was already in the works? Oh how the worries wanted to created sweat on his brow, had he not already been over heated from the weather he was sure it would have happened.

"Well..." He paused briefly, trying to think in quick, but smooth notions. "You mentioned ambassadors?" Again, the thinker was thinking. "Perhaps, we could begin small caravans, seek out the rogues to bring in, an Ambassador could travel with them and do as you say, stop in at prides to either create alliances or more." He stated, trying to get everything out as quickly as possible. He stayed straight, confident, hoping to make a strong minded appearance in front of their leader.

That was when he spotted a white leopard eying him, could he have shown a blush, his cheeks would have been rosy. Fortunately for him, his black pelt hid those shades of red well.

A smile that was not intended to be creepy, but totally was crossed her maw as she watched the male shrink a bit under her gaze. Aside from the amazing notion of new blood she could try to corrupt, she liked these ideas. Ambassadors? She could do that. In fact, she -wanted- to do that. To be the one bringing others in.. it was perfect. The only thing that could stand in her way was Sayen. Moyo was a Fu spawn, and she knew Sayen watched her and her line very closely. Waiting to have a reason to do something to her. Her sister was a sweet little thing, just like mom, but Moyo had been Fu's favorite because she was like a smaller version, personality wise at least, of herself. Yes. Moyo was definitely a Fu spawn, and because Sayen knew this and had cautions about her, this could put a stopper on her whole new plan to do stuff.

Her gaze shifted to Sayen and her little nephew, the odd little pink furball that he was; nevermind he was bigger than her, and just as grown up, but still. He was -pink-. Not only was that an overall weird color, but it was a girl color. It boggled her mind. But never the less, she watched the Chieftess and her nephew, the creepy smile dropped from her face already and replaced by a calm impassive one, again.

She had to think now, how to get Sayen to allow her to be an ambassador. She couldn't just speak up now and be all, Oh hey, I want to go recruit allies and stuff! Never mind I'm related to that -insane- leopardess Fu... Yes, that was not how she would go about doing this.

Tue sat down and listened to the meeting. He fidgeted with a blade of grass by his paws. Whenever there was a gathering like this he always felt out of place. That's why he liked the rogue lands. Out there he had plenty of room. He liked the company the colony gave him, however he would always miss the rogue lands.

The idea of traveling to get aid of others seemed like a good idea to him. It would give this isolated colony some allies. During his travels he hadn't really seen many other leopard colonies, but he was sure there must be others out there. If a band were to go searching for new allies he would be more than happy to go.

Macaria would have usually listened calmly during gathering such as this. However today was one of his off days. He had just gotten over being seriously sick and had started the day feeling emotionally and physically drained. His other side, his darker side took over in during his moment of weakness. Unlike his normal self, his darker personality had a tendency to be more spoken about his opinions and ideas.

Right now he was sitting away from most of the leopards, watching them at a distance. The idea that the colony needed to rely on others disgusted him. He stood up and walked toward the stone steps of the temple. As he walked he was sure he had shoved others out of way, giving him the attention he wanted. If he had been his normal self he would have apologize for even bumping into another leopard.

"Having ambassadors travel in search of ally prides and colonies could help us. It would also show them that we are at a weak point." He said loud enough so everyone could hear him. "We however are not weak. In our midst are fighters who I know would die proudly for their pride. We should be figuring out ways to take what we need not beg for it. We could easy take another pride's resources and force leopards into joining our colony."

Macaria was sure that his idea was the best for the pride. His only thought was on protecting the pride and what it stood for. That and he liked the thought of a little blood shed.

Sakura's ears folded back as he turned to the brash brown leopard. "And you don't think we haven't considered that option? Either way, they'll know we're here, and they'll know we're getting desperate. But which would YOU rather have, the other colonies smiling to help us when we're down, or angry and attacking us when we're weakest? If we go out and shanghai leopards into our colony, then we'll surely be attacked and destroyed!" It was a fate he didn't want for the colony. He may have been considered royal blooded thanks to his traitor father being the brother of the Chieftess, but he wasn't about to sit around and do nothing.

Sayen's ears, too, went back, before she stepped in front of her nephew. "All ideas will be considered, Sakura." She looked over to Macaria, mentally tracking what she'd seen of him during his years of life. The only thing she could guess was that he had some version of his mother's insanity, because he had days where he was polite and demure, and others where he was this brash and outspoken. This had to be one of those brash days. "IF we do that.. I'm not fond of the idea, mind you... We'd need to start with rogue cubs. Cubs of single mothers who want their children to have better. We're not cubnapping from other prides or colonies - And we will not cubnap rogue cubs. Ask the mothers POLITELY. Maybe they want to join, too." That provided a chance for as many as seven leopards joining all at once, at least.

Ever since the disappearance of the old chieftess Fu, Chimalli had been even more of a ghost around the colony than he used to be. The task given to him just before she vanished was still his focus, yet there was no one waiting for his reports. Cast adrift amid a pride of strangers, the leopard lived on the very fringes of the colony, becoming the embodiment of the name he had first been given along with his orders. Mistwatcher. Over the past weeks, or was it months.. he no longer knew, that Fu had been gone he had become a shadow of his former ghostly self. Haunting the far reaches of the pride, hunting alone and stalking alone, ever watchful, ever deadly. Yet one habit had yet to fall under the pall of shadows that his existence now imitated, and that was his habit of hunting for the young of the colony. Where once he had secretly enjoyed watching the cubs dive into the meat he brought back from the edges of their jungle home, now he was long gone before even the first rays of light touched the thickly overgrown jungle floor, leaving the still warm carcass where the youngsters would find it easily.

A ghost in more ways than one, Chimalli had virtually become as much of a ghost as Fu herself, reports of his likeness spotted along the colony boarders and then deep in the jungle's interior... apparently at the same time. Yet enough leopards saw the daily meals he provided, so his existence as a pride member was not once questioned. It was a choice between a reclusive leopard, or a true ghost....

Yet for once, more than one pair of eyes could see more than just one part of the misty-blue spotted male. As the mistwatcher had appeared out of the thick foliage at the back of the clearing and was now sat some distance away from the other leopards, but in full sight of the whole colony, if one cared to look round behind themselves, that was. A silent presence, the silent male was simply watching the goings on, his expression one of grim reservation as he listened, and watched.

Oh brother. There were days Moyo appreciated him, and others she found him to be extremely annoying. Today was one of his better days, in her opinion. She kept her small smile subdued to little more than an amused quirk of the lip as she listened to his proposal then saw Sakura's reaction to it. The pink one was right, as was Sayen though. Cub napping from other colonies was a bad idea. Not only would they put themselves on the radar, they would also make themselves a threat to other leopard colonies and such. They needed to build up numbers before they decided to go off and do something like that. Get in good with another colony, trade cubs and maybe get a few of their members to come over to help populate, maybe some arranged marriages...

That last idea made her features twist in thought for a moment though. Arranged marriages... Surely Sayen would not want to give up her own family for such things... and she did seem very unloving towards Fu's line. Her ears pinned back as she let this thought run through her head. No. Arranged marriages were a bad idea. Unless it was done with like, cubs. Not her and her siblings. Sayen wouldn't be able to get rid of the last remaining Fu spawn that easily.

Jayani felt a little out of place, mainly because she was a newer member. The issues that they had felt so alien to her, as she was a recently joined rogue who was related to no one here. She hadn't really wanted to join, since he got herself lost (and then stuck) in the jungle, but survival was more important than anything. The adjustment had gone...alright...though it was strange sharing her meals with strangers. The more she did it, the more 'normal' it became.

Her bright blue eyes contrasted her black mask as she watched the back and forth conversation, debating their ideas with her own head. She didn't know of any other leopard colonies, unless small families of leopards counted. Even then, they might not be where she remembered them living.

She knew she might be called upon, and so she worked fast to develop her thoughts into anything more than 'i don't know' or 'it depends.'

The striped leopardess watched everyone, then let out a light sigh. "No other opinions on this? Really...?" She looked around, then took a couple steps down the stairs. "Surely SOMEONE has some opinion!" She noticed the white and black leopardess with blue eyes. "You, what do you think?" She knew most all of the names of the members, but this one was new. "You've been out in the Roguelands... You know what it's like out there. Would there be any cubs around that might, maybe, just MAYBE... Be able to be brought in? Or single mothers? Or... SOMETHING." Desperation was beginning to creep into her voice.
