AS ORIGINALLY POSTED ON THE 31ST DECEMBER 2011
I.E. SLOTS ARE NO LONGER OPEN!
Hay gais! I'm keeping Maxx company, but where he wants the practice in general, I need the practice because all I ever draw outside of B/C stuff is the same one subject.
To reiterate, Maxx wanted to do a x-number-of-days sketchy Challenge, and I said I'd do it with him provided I can just do scribbly scrawls that don't take long,
and we ended up deciding this would be better than a theme challenge for us 'cause I'd just keep drawing that one same subject for all the themes.
I am horribly lazy and my sketches are very sketchy, so these are not things to pop in your sig, just to stick on your virtual fridge and laugh at.
TAKING 5 NAMES FOR FREE SCRIBBLY-SKETCHES HERE
5 each at HyTech, Phony, C*cktail, & Matope (links in my sig) - it doesn't matter where you grab your slot.
What you'll get:
You do not get a choice of type, but I'll be doing:
- Mostly head/bust, rarely scribbled bodies, hands are usually unfinished scrawls
- Probably in a cartoonier style because I just like doodling like that don't shoot me
- Mostly in a scribbled mass of blue lead, sometimes red, but I may colourise the lines
- I may run scribbly pencil over the scribbled blue mass but it won't look any better
- Very rarely I may have to ink a pic because it got too illegible, but that's the luck of the draw
- NO MATTER WHAT, IT WON'T BE COLOURED. THESE ARE JUST SCRIBBLED SKETCHES
This is the last sketch I did - but I probably won't be doing bodies, mostly.
What you can do:
- First-come-first-served - each person can only claim ONE slot on either Maxx or mine's list, not both*
- QUOTE** me and give me ONE subject with ref pic(s) & ONE expression keyword (so I don't draw something too OOC)
- I'd prefer the subject to be your pet, but if you're collecting OC art, as long as it's simple, with refs, it's fine.
- Everything will be humanoid, Phonies/kimeti will be converted - if you have a humanoid ref, gimme, or I'll loosely interpret
- If I find something too complicated to scribble quickly, I'll be simplifying it, so if you find your pet unrecognisable...8D;;
- IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH THREAD YOU GET THE SLOT IN, YOU CAN STILL ASK FOR ANY SUBJECT THAT FITS THE GUIDELINES
So if there're empty slots in the other 3 threads, just grab it if there're no slots left for the thread you originally saw this in - I suggest C*cktail.
What will happen:
- Sometime during the month I will do this sketch (Picking off the list at will, not in sign-up order)
- And then at some other time I will actually get off my a** and scan/process it *shot*
- Whereupon I will quote you and drop it off in the relevant thread (Changed to this method)
- And maybe if it was fun we'll do it again a month or two later
- We'll see.
I would really really hate to disappoint you with what I give you, but I'm really just scribbling doodles and will NOT redo anything, so please just, uh, expect stickmen!*** 8D;;
(And if there's something a depiction really NEEDs, like 'he MUST have that scar on the RIGHT side of his forehead', please specify things right off before it's too late.)
*I do realise that there are technically 40 slots in total and I seriously doubt there are 40 people interested in our scribbling,
so if interest drops to the point where even Chatterbox druggies aren't taking us up, then, yes, you may claim slots on both lists.
**I may not be backreading, so if I don't get notified of your quote, I'm sorry but it probably won't go into the list. To ensure you quote me correctly,
it's probably easiest to directly quote from my post. Otherwise, do remember to surround my username with ", and if the quote is messed up the
first time, delete the post and quote me in a new one. As far as I know, those are the two most common reasons quotes never make it to Notifications.
***It won't be stickmen. I'm really proud of my stickmen though. 83
ETA: I may use photo refs if I'm doing pose practice, but odds on are that I won't, it's really down to your luck...

14. phoenix kiss' Nimuephoenix kiss IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER SLOT, I would like a sketch of my OC Nimue. biggrin Adjective, hm. 'Thoughtful,' or 'scholarly.'  [ pencil over mass of blue lead, colourised | revised: + B pencil & red lead shading ] Hallo, phoenix! Nimue looks like such a kickass lady, and I love her structured face, so I didn't want to go too cartoony! Unfortunately, I drew the first image that came to mind when I read 'thoughtful', so I covered half her structured face. |: I thought of this as a semi-private moment, so I left her hair in a loose braid and just scrawled things all over the place. Anyway, a scribbly-sketch of Nimue, as promised! Hope it doesn't disappoint too much! ^^;; Revised: Sorry to quote you again, phoenix - just a small update: I revised the sketch a little by running over the lines with a thicker pencil to better match the line-weight of the other sketches and backed the shading up with some red lead scribbling, and also sized it down a little to match the rest. Hopefully it's an improvement rather than the other way round. ^^;; Thank you!

9. Sephiros Immortalis' AubreySeph's Request I'd like to nab a slot for Aubrey, if I could. Keyword being swagger. [ mass of red lead, colourised ] SEPH I am so sorry that I essentially stuck Aubrey in a DANCE CENTRAL COSPLAY. As soon as I read 'swagger', Dance Central and Angel (the guy these clothes are from, in case you don't know a thing about DC) hit me because Maxx is a huge DC fanboy and he's been complaining nonstop over Christmas about how Angel's DC1 outfit unlock codes for the sequel are only found on certain US Pepsi Holiday packs (?!!??). This, naturally, is said outfit. I'm pretty sure there must be a screencap of Angel somewhere out there in this exact pose or something like it, 'cause Lord knows I've seen Maxx execute his victory sequence enough times to have that frame burned into my brain - but I largely did it this way because I am a huge fan of hat-tipping and think it is one of the most swaggery things in existence. I hope Aubrey looks swag enough like this for you to forgive me for making him cosplay DC. orz (And also - I realise I must have thought DC because Angel's dance partner is...Miss Aubrey. A little less scribbly than usual (I think) because I'm a sucker for a pretty girl I've had this clear image in my head since I read your request - no prizes guessing what kind of stuff she's holding behind her back! XD The only thing is, I couldn't really make it clear that the tip of her tongue is sticking out the corner of her mouth, so I hope that bit doesn't look too odd to you. Oh my god Jun, you absolutely captured her spirit with this picture~. She's amazing. I love the color you chose for her, that kind of earthy umber really does match her personality - very grounded and realistic, but light and still bright. Her eyes are SO EXPRESSIVE, you have no idea how long I stared at them, And her hair! Oh my god, her hair is absolutely amazing. Long, and straight, and wavier as it gets even longer~, and just by looking at it, I know I just want to bury my face in it and smell whatever she's wearing for a smell that day~. Her tongue is so cute, and her mouth looks so sensual, and don't even get me started on how well you drew her neck and collarbone~ (I have a thing for her collarbone and her long neck~). I love the ribbon and the way it's been colored in - it makes me think of dark, almost-black velvet, which is what she usually wears unless she's trying to seriously impress somebody.
You managed to capture the faint slouch she always does, and kept the impression of her long neck, even though I didn't actually describe it to you, and everything else has been done so intuitively~. And the whole emotion of this sketch... once again... is absolutely, 100-percent, completely and utterly her.
Beauty's even there, this makes inordinately happy! She almost always has him around, and he's always happy to go along with her schemes~. And it looks like she's played dressup with him, too! She totally would - one time, she even painted designs all over him with nail-lacquer.
My god, I don't think you could have done better with her if I'd given you a twenty page description of her and how she acts and Aaaaaa, just so amazing, thank you, thank you, thank you!
... and now I'm going to go squeal for a while longer.

19. Tanakako's WispKai's Request Name: Wisp de ItherWord: Reading Serious (he wears a pair of slim wireframe reading glasses like these: image ) This one came together the fastest of the sketches I've done so far, which may be a testament to the fact I've spent half my life drawing bespectacled guys. XD The image I had in my head was a bust shot, so I ended up drawing him reading after all, haha. I liked the unfinished but structural look of the bottom half so left it as is, and made the rest of it unshaded and as clean as I could - 'cause Wisp is so pale (understatement)! I really like how this one turned out, so I hope you do too, Kai! Thanks for grabbing that slot, this was a lot of fun for me and it was nice to draw Wisp at last. c: Feedback: CT P53

GENERAL DISCLAIMER: If anyone is looking at this and thinking 'hey, that's not a scribbly sketch! Mine was a lot more scribbly, why isn't mine as finished as that! >|" I just have to disclaim that the base sketch was simple and clean enough for me to single-line a bold B pencil over most of it, allowing for pretty clear line extraction in Photoshop, that the resizing ended up sharpening. PLEASE DON'T EXPECT THE REST OF THE SCRIBBLY-SKETCHES TO LOOK LIKE THIS! THIS IS AN EXCEPTION TO THE RULE, AND I'D HATE TO DISAPPOINT YOU!17. venafydan's YaneMage's Request I'd like Yane, if possible. She's my OC for several pokemon b/cs. She's shy, the glasses are a must and the bloomers are really wanted but feel free to play around, so long as it's a girly outfit she won't care. If you choose to leave her hair down it's the same length as the little bits going past her bangs. I love drawing cute little girls with glasses, so I couldn't help but do a full-length for a cute shy pose to show off her bloomers! I really liked the outfit she came with, so I didn't change a thing. Thank you so much for requesting Yane, Mage! This sketch was practically a guilty pleasure for me, so I hope you'll like it half as much as I enjoyed drawing it. XD;;

20. Mika_Yumi's Blood of MineMika's Request Ooooh, Blood of Mine, hmm... I can't think of the right word, btu I want her to be sort of whimsical, but also knowledgeable... Wow! This one was unexpectedly hard! Everything else came quite easily but I had to redraw her face five or six times to get close to the expression I was trying to get - that sort of whimsical sparkle in her eye, that quiet little mirth-filled smile, but at the same time a feeling that she knows something that you don't, albeit benevolently. XD;; I hope I managed it in the end at least! Her hair is great fun - that long swoop and then that curl; she's such a pretty girl. This was the first actual gijinka I've had to do - but I had to draw her fully human in the end 'cause I ran out of space for the horns! I hope that's okay, though. ^^;; Thank you so much for grabbing that slot, Mika, and then going with my 'suggestion' among the choices you'd offered. ;D I really hope you're happy with how it turned out! *crosses fingers*

She's lean, wiry and nimble, and can move through the forest swiftly and silently. Her hair is straight, black, and falls to her shoulders; her nose is broad, and her face is round; her earlobes are fused to the sides of her head; her almond-shaped eyes are blue, and she's taken to wearing eyeliner on the lower lid - her only makeup. (If you guessed that the eyeliner is to make her eyes look more like a cat's eyes you guessed right.) She wears plain clothes, dyed in bright hues, with many, many pockets and slings and packs. She almost always wears a bright, yellow neckerchief, and almost never wears shoes.
As for expression, um, sort of alert and watchful would be good I think, since she hunts in some bullshit magical woods and she's gotta make sure no faeries try to ******** her s**t up You and your real people-like characters with their real people-type faces showin' up my failin's, Corms, don't you know you're only supposed to request generic pretty people of poor draweringers of pathetic animu background?! I kid, of course, first off, I've been raring to go at Katerina for a good long time, secondly, there's nothing very real-people looking about this, oop, I hope it is approximately alright! I've had something like this image stuck in my head for her since the post you'd asked in - the waffly line of her right arm was meant to simulate the careful parting of brush, as charmingly rendered in the background via the medium of scribble, as she silently stalks through the bullshit magical woods. 8D;; I, uh. 6. Aric Val's SheaBP-ric's Request Shea! <3 Keyword: Hungry. emotion_awesome Hallo, BP-ric! Yeah, I couldn't help but think of this as the 'NO, SHEA! NOOOO!' pic...but I guess it wouldn't hurt him, actually. XD I started this out too small and couldn't get the soft lead sharp enough to draw in his eyes properly, argh! Sometimes I really hate myself for incorporating the eyelash-shape as part of the Hyte style. DX I hope it's alright, anyway; I didn't want the ants to disappear into the trunk, so I just picked out the lines instead of scribbling in shading. I hope it's all okay-ish, aaaah! (Sorry for the late drop-off, I'm totally incapacitated through having-eaten-something-wrong these couple of days, and I forgot to post this after I finished it. ^^;; )

Roadkill's Hunger UrgesRoad's Request I'd like to ask for my kimeti, Hunger Urges.. since, you know, you have the doe to the pair, ehehe. ♥ Annndddd uhhh, he'd be uh holier-than-thou for sure. Yes. Aaah aaah I hope this is okay, Road, I get so nervous over interpreting non-humanoids! From his profile and RP, I kinda envisioned him looking like a young lord out hunting in practical but also luxurious(ly furred) clothing, and having just run into an unsavoury element (maybe my matching girl, Vexed XD) that he is now gazing distastefully upon. I actually shaded in his mask-marking, but most of that disappeared in the scan, sigh. I really love Hunger Urges: I have a huge doe-bias, and back during the contest, I was so very fixated on Vexed, whom I'd zeroed in on as soon as the event teaser was revealed, but even so I actually stopped to ask Maxx if I should have taken the buck instead - that is how incredibly magnetic I find him, ahahah... I love what you've done with him, and I hope this pic does him a little justice! Thank you so much for picking up a slot and requesting this guy!
