Anyone who has ever gone seeking a blessing or 'wisdom' knows the treacherous terrain that surrounds Nettle's home: the great mess of branches and growth filled with the stinging plants that gave him his name, the snapping shape of a grumpy and ever-hungry blue turtle, the shrubs that press up against the daunting mouth of his cave...
All in all, the twins have decided that it is much too dramatic and Nettle takes himself much too seriously and he needs to lighten up. They're taking his humor education into their own hands: whether he likes it or not.
They sent their message out by word of mouth: if you have a sense of humor and a goodly dose of guts, show up about a half a gallop south of Nettle's cave, and a date: today. The more the merrier seemed to be the ring behind it, and when asked 'why this day?' they happily announced that it was because they knew Nettle would be out and away and there would be plenty of time to set up some surprises for him when he came home.
The pair of them stand brightly orange against the green-and-brown backdrop, their eyes brightly amused in their faces, chattering back and forth and finishing each others' sentences as they wait:
"Mate, did you bring the pink -- "
"Flowers? Did you think I'd forget? You have the sticky -- "
"Clay? Yeah, I dug it up a couple days ago. Have you -- "
"Scoped out the area? Oh, he's long gone..."
They keep shooting quick looks up the path, in the direction they expect other Kimeti [willing accomplices, hopefully prepared with pranking supplies] to approach from -- and then back over their shoulders, because no matter how many times they've scoped out the area, how can they really be sure that Nettle is out? He could just be a snake...
OOC:This is a 'contest' that is, in effect, based on participation!
Come into the thread, we're going to RP some!
I'm going to try to be good and post a few times a day, and at the end -- the people who amused/entertained/impressed me the most will win some prizes, including the very rare male twins up there. The more you post, the better!
If you don't have any Kimeti, you're welcome to make one up for this event.
NOTE: The event ends on the 4th, which means I'll choose some winners then -- but the RP will continue until it's done, so if you're having fun...

The young Laughing Shadows had grown bored playing the same games with her fellow Kimeti day in and day out. So when the word had come around that people with guts and humor ought to show up at Nettle's Cave, a kimeti she had never met before and so had had to ask around to figure out where to go, she had immediately set about looking for things to take with her. The black and grey doe had never really played a prank on anyone and was unsure exactly what to take, but she had managed to gather together some vines, powerful smelling flowers, and some colorful pebbles together before she set out. Of course, the task of carrying those items was burdensome to the kimeti, and unable to think of another way, she rolled around in the vine until it was wrapped around her well enough she could carry it without tripping and falling down and put the flowers and pebbles into a leave that she then took carefully into her teeth.
Though she was now covered in muck, vines and leaves she nodded happily to herself. She wasn't sure yet what exactly could be done with what she had, but she held her head high as she walked up the path south of the cave, looking for the twins that were supposed to be there. Laughing Shadows approached them as quietly as one could with vines and small rocks as their company, but when she opened her mouth to say hello her large leaf that was carrying her burden fell and the flowers and pebbles promptly fell to the ground with more than a little noise.
As the pebbles clinked together, marring some of her flowers, the doe's glowing eyes flew open and she stared openly at them, not really believing she'd actually been so stupid as to open her mouth to talk without setting her package down first. Thoroughly embarrassed, she muttered a hello and an apology to the air around her, not really caring if anyone else heard and hastily began trying to pick them up. In doing all the dips and nudging that was required to gather everything back together without furthering damaging the stinky flowers, the vine began to unwind itself from her body and to the keen of eye it could be seen as she re-tangled it accidentally between her legs. To Laughing Shadows, though, she merely noticed an annoying pull against her hooves and ignored it while she tried to recover from the first embarrassing mishap.
Proving that this was a happy mistake, the young doe promptly took a spill to the ground before the leaf with the flowers and pebbles as the vine finally pulled too tight against her hooves and her legs were collapsed from under her. Sprawled out across the ground she glanced up sheepishly to where she had seen the two bucks standing.
"Perhaps I'm not made out to play jokes on people after all."
She sighed miserably as she began to extricate herself from her mess, vaguely hoping some assistance might be forthcoming, but certainly not expecting it.

Deadly Nightshade nudged Soil and Moonshine along in front of her, making sure that they didn't drop any of the supplies she'd asked them to collect for this special occasion, the possible pranking of Nettle. She smirked to herself at the thought of that grumpy old kimeti getting pranked really good. The twins were behind it, obviously, and that made it all the better. She couldn't wait.
After a few moments, Nightshade saw the twins in the distance, along with another doe, who seemed to be having some issues with a vine or something. Taking the supplies from Soil, she told him to go and help her out of whatever was holding her feet together. Once she and Moonshine had made it up to the clearing where they were supposed to meet, she shot a smile towards the twins. "I love you guys for this" she says playfully as she sets down her supplies.
In front of her is a pile of flowers that make kimeti very very drousy. There was more than enough to put one to sleep, so she hoped that Nettle would fall under their spell. In tiny bowls that Soil had made from log pieces, there were brightly colored patches of mud. Soil and Nightshade had taken various flowers and plants to turn the light mud different colors that would be very embarassing to have on someone. Once Soil had helped the black and gray doe out of her dilemma, she told him to go retrieve his friends, who had agreed to help her. A few moments later, about ten other mongeese came out of the trees with Soil in the lead.

Sparrowhawk has, in some circles, a reputation for being a practical joker. Even as a filly she was purposely leading her friends into smelling a freshly-collected bouquet of sneezing flowers, or conniving ways to tie their legs together while they slept, or one unfortunate incident in which Longstride found himself painted nearly completely black with sticky, thick river mud...
Needless to say, the young doe is used to her pranks not ending well. Oh, the prank itself goes off perfectly; it's the aftermath that doesn't. When the rumor drifted into the swamp that Nettle's Cave was the site of a round of pranking, she didn't waste a moment. Off she bounded in her long leaping strides, collecting things along the way. She knew where the sneezing flowers and foul-smelling berries grew. The last thing she'd thought to very carefully grab was mouthful of seed-pods that made a loud popping, exploding sound when trod upon. It wouldn't do to have one of those explode in her mouth. Who knows what would happen.
Nettle's cave is prime for pranking; even the nettles themselves (and the munching turtle she encountered on her first attempt into the maze of thorns) can be used. So intent is Sparrowhawk on making her way right up to the mouth of the cave that she barely even notices the two other kimeti does. Or the ten other mongoose who came barrelling out of the wood.

Blue Streak had heard about something or other going on at some kimeti or other's cave on someday or other. It'd been from someone else's mouth, a quick, desperate interjection in the hopes that she'd go bouncing off to investigate. She'd spent the better part of a few days wandering the general area until she'd found the thicket of nettles, and then circling it had finally brought her to the group.
"Hi my name's Blue Streak and wow are you okay those vines are really treacherous I chipped a hoof once because I was too busy talking to a cloud and I didn't see that there was a vine across my path with a rock near it until I tripped--" She trotted over to Laughing Shadows, and even when she bent her head to start pulling the vines away, she was still talking, her words muffled and incoherent around the vine.
Silvertongue slid off her back, grasping a giant leaf. There was a bundle of sticks with sticky spiderwebs bound to the ends on it, tied at their non-sticky ends with a a thin vine with clattering bits of bone and rock bound to it -- just as noisy as the foxbun herself, who chittered a greeting at the twins, then at Deadly Nightshade.

Dew Drop Sun wasn't exactly known as much of a practical joker. She had her fun sometimes -- picking on friends, bumping into them so they would step in a puddle, occasionally flinging mud at a friend whining about being dirty -- but she wasn't often one to sit around and think about all of the delightfully horrid things she could do to friends. When word of mouth passed around that Nettle's cave would be under attack, though... Well, she hadn't exactly met Nettle, but she'd heard things, and seen him grouching around the swamp occasionally, and couldn't help but want to join in the group festivities.
She had heard of the general plan a few days before, and though at first she wasn't sure she would be very good at coming up with any pranks, she soon had a few thoughts, and noticed that her eyes were finding interesting things that could perhaps be of use. She'd caught one fish more than she needed for a meal that first day, and rather than letting it go to complete waste, she decided to save it. She left the fish in the sun each day since so that it reeked something awful; she wrapped it in a large leaf each night to keep herself from smelling it too much.
Since then, she'd also found some long branch of a bush with large thorns on it, carefully carrying it back home -- she was aware that Nettle was surrounded by, well, nettles, but that didn't mean he'd take kindly to a thorn or two in his cave, or near a favorite spot to lie down... On another walk one day, she found quite a large section of bark broken off from a tree -- it had frightened her almost into another bolt (not quite, she'd learned that lesson when she'd trampled flowers and disturbed poor Undone's rest) because lying in the very shallow area of water that was almost path nearby, it looked like the back of an alligator or a crocodile. Well, she couldn't pass that up as even a possible scare for Nettle, so she dragged it home in prep.
On the planned day, she'd told Ray of Rain to come along, just in case, and had gathered all of her things and put the thorny branch and fish in the curve of the bark where it had once wrapped around a tree, then found a vine to attach to the bark so she could drag it along behind her -- lifting it carefully so that the convincing spikes wouldn't break off. Along the way, she'd also remembered a spot where she'd found sour berries and a plant that caused her dizziness before, stopping by to gather a small pile of each. She decided that if she thought of anything else, she could go out to get it once she'd met up with everyone else.
As she neared the clearing, she could see all waiting with their supplies -- and was somewhat surprised to see that, so far, only does had shown up for the excitement. Curious. She approached them all, the twins checking up on their own supplies, and set hers off to the side, sitting beside her preparations and smiling at the others. "Well, hello. This should be fun." She looked around to what each had brought and wondered what they would all be able to pull off.

Nightshade looked at all the newcomers and smiled. At least she wasn't the only one who thought Nettle deserved a good pranking. Seeing that the black and green doe, Poison Gloam, didn't know who they were pranking, Nightshade smiled and said, "We are pranking Nettle, the grumpy old buck who lives in the cave up the path. Looks to be a good one too." Glancing over at Soil, she giggled as he and his mongoose friends were chittering away about the prank they wanted to pull. Moonshine was reflecting to herself while sitting on Grace's back, not really sure about this whole prank thing.
Looking to the twins, Nightshade asked, "So when are we going to go up there boys?" Scratching a place behind her ear, she waited for an answer while listening to everyone else talking. After a moment of thought, Grace looked over to Soil and said, "Tell you and your friends to go dig up some really flowery bushes please." Watching them run off, she waited for them to come back, plotting more for what she wanted to do to Nettle, giggling a little.

The twins are no help: they whisper amongst themselves as the horde of does works its way around them, each grinning at what the other has to say. Eventually, the short-haired one makes a comment that leaves the longer snorting with laughter, and that is how Path will introduce herself to them: green eyes still glittering with some wicked edge of humor.
They are still finishing each others' sentences.
"The plan? I don't know, mate, what do you think? Do we really -- "
"Need a plan? I hadn't worked anything out, myself, thought we'd just -- "
"Wing it. Yeah. That's always worked for us before."
They both grin down at the white doe, and the short-haired one wiggles his eyebrows in a suggestive way, scraping one hoof against the earth beneath him.
"How about everyone shows what they brought and puts it right here?"
"Uh-huh, and we'll wait a bit longer for more folks to show up."

Suddenly there were other kimeti everywhere -- not just the red and black doe, and the tangled-foot doe, but also the doe who apparently never stopped talking, the doe with the creamy coat and the pretty doe with her long dark hair. Sparrowhawk had been standing carefully off to one side, avoiding bumping into anything or anyone. If anyone happened to pop on one of those seed pods, well... no matter where Nettle was, he'd hear it. And then the jig would be up, wouldn't it?
When the twins called for the materials, her look brightened. These were bucks she could get to know and befriend. She collected up her materials -- the sneezing flowers, the seed pods (that she puts down very carefully indeed), and the foul smelling berries. The edge of one hoof grazed one of the plump, overripe-looking berries, and suddenly a horrid sort of stench wafted up from it, something like rotten fruit and dead fish. It was enough to make Sparrowhawk recoil. "Ugh! Oh! I burst one -- I'm sorry!" She quickly tore up a mouthful of grass, roots and all, and put it on top of the berry to mask its funk. "This is what I've got. Don't," she quickly warned as someone leaned down to investigate the seed pods, "Step on those pods."

Smoke and Mud was not amused.
For one thing, she was dirty (she'd slipped in the mud), and for another thing the twins had stolen her thunder. Smoke had planned on having a small get-together today, maybe just a hunting party, but no, the twins and their ridiculous need for attention just had to interrupt her plans by sending out those invitations (that she couldn't have resisted even if she wanted to, but that wasn't the point). The point was that they had totally messed up her pace.
Also the dirt was getting up in places dirt was never supposed to be. Smoke rubbed her nose against her side, trying to wipe some of it off as she made her way up to Nettle's cave. The twins and their near blinding orange coats were clashing fantastically with the dark cave behind them, both of them chattering about to the rest. There were already several Kimeti milling about, some looking excited, others looking confused, and most...
"What is this, a female party?" Smoke muttered to herself as she sat back on her haunches, surveying the scene. "Where are all the males?"
Well, that didn't matter, did it? Smoke had come to see what all the fuss was about. She didn't care about the others, right? Right. Besides, she was only here because the twins had (obviously) forced her into it by having their get-together the same day she had planned hers (it was a conspiracy). So the only logical thing to do would be to accept the invitation.
That, and try to beat the twins at their own game. Which she would do handily, if she did say so herself.
Now she just had to figure out what the heck was going on.

As Bright as Can Be shifted from hoof to hoof and his tail flicked nervously, as he walked up with his familiar alongside. Mythic Beauty adjusted her supply-full wings and settled to the ground, watching the collection of kimeti, familiars, and even a throng of pets in attendance. He placed the turtle shell of bright-colored berry-juice-and-clay mixes that he had been carrying in his mouth down and managed a somewhat-calm greeting to the apparent organizers of this throng though his breathless excitement.
"Hello there... sorry I'm a bit late to the party. I just saw this pink foxbun, and then we tried to catch it, but it got away... we got a lot of pink fur, though, and found a couple nice feathers." His crane had slipped them into his hair and tail, and he looked vaguely ridiculous, his usually voluminous fur now decorated with all manner of extra colorful moth fringes and bird feathers and bits of fur.
The crane preened one of her out-of-place feathers back into line without a sound, and her charge glanced back to her and to the two orange bucks. "...Myth also found some snake skins... I think they might do nicely painted up." he realized, but didn't mind, the fact that he was mostly talking to himself as he worked on placing the supplies where all the others were, finding a good flat leaf to place the feathers and snakeskins that Myth had been carrying on her back and in her wings. That task taken care of, she began picking the fur and feathers from his hair with a deft beak, until every last rainbowy bit of animal debris was out.
"And now the vines..." he held out one leg and let the crane undo the tuck-knot for him, so that it slipped off in a semi-neat pile next to the wide arrangement of things they had grabbed on their travels. That done with, he stepped to the side and stood there semi-awkwardly as he looked at all the kimeti, so perfectly at home as they were in this treed, moist-earthed, plant-rich environment. He shifted around and looked for an unoccupied Kimeti, then paused with a moment of awkwardness. Just ask.
"Can someone help me bring up this log? It's got a bend in it... we could use it to flip something over."
