Deep within Glacial Canyon, buried in a small mound of snow, a small yellow form began to stir. "Ergh..." The Pichu mumbled, trembling furiously as he came to. He hadn't noticed just how cold it was until he began to wake up, now he just wanted to fall asleep again. However, now it was too cold to sleep. Slowly, little amber eyes blinked open drowsily, but at the intense white scene before him, he quickly shut them again. It was too bright, it hurt, but now he was curious. He couldn't quite recall where he was or how he'd gotten there, but he knew one thing; it wasn't natural for it to be this cold. Something was wrong, and that was exactly why he forced his eyes open again.

Snow. That was the culprit here; there was snow and ice everywhere, even on top of him. The Pichu blinked and stood, shaking himself off, but then instantly regretting it. The blanket of snow had actually supplied some shelter against the cold, and now he'd gone and uncovered himself. "Brrr....." He hugged himself tightly and wrapped his scarf around like a blanket, but last time Skye recalled, his scarf had never been big enough to cover his entire body... He looked down at his yellow fur and squinted his beady little eyes suspiciously, then looked at his little yellow hands. In a slight panic, he got down on his knees and brushed aside the snow to look in the reflective ice, only to see a Pichu starting back at him. "Wagh!!!" He yelped and stumbled back in surprise, falling into another mound of snow.

He wasn't really too worried about the snow now, there were several far more pressing questions at the forefront of his mind, like why did he look like a Pichu. He wasn't a Pichu. At least, he didn't think he was. That didn't sound right. Hadn't he been a human before? With blonde hair and blue eyes and long limbs? Why was he a pokemon now?! Come to think of it, where was he and why? This place was so strange....

❁ ❁【 Black… that was all she could see, hear, or feel around her… She felt as though she was drifting, floating aimlessly through a fathomless abyss of darkness… No sense of time, no sense of anything… What exactly happened? Her thoughts felt scrambled and scattered, but they were slowly coming to mind little by little. ” Am I… dead?” was the first and foremost thought that occurred to her. No, that couldn’t be possible… how would she be capable of conscious thought if she was dead? Then again, they do say that the brain still functions for a certain amount of time after death… but that wasn’t the point here. And yet… she had no sense of where she was or what had happened… She could feel her senses slowly starting to come back to her, the steady, even vibrato of her breathing, the soft thumping of her heartbeat, though she could’ve sworn her heartbeat sounded much louder than she expected… And all around her, the increasing sensation of something freezing against her skin crept into the corners of her consciousness. Her eyes slowly blinked open as she started to come around, her vision muddy at first but gradually becoming sharper as her brain finally got its act together and focused.
The first thing that greeted Korin once her eyesight returned fully was a screen of completely blinding white, and the chill of her surroundings hit her like a ton of bricks. Shivering, she shut her eyes tight and jerked up into a sitting position, the white sheet above her bursting open as her head became exposed to the outside. Once she had recovered a bit from the slight pain the sight of such intense white had inflicted, she slowly opened her eyes once again and looked at the piles and piles of white all around her. ” It’s snow…” she realized blearily as her thoughts gathered information from her surroundings. But why was there snow and ice everywhere? Last she recalled, it hadn’t been anywhere near this cold, why the sudden change in weather? And on top of all of this, where exactly was she? She looked up, seeing a vast, bleak blanket of grey-blue that was the sky, and huge cliff faces covered all over with snow and ice enclosed the area in its entirety. A chill wind swept over the area, hitting her with needles of frost and biting at her skin. She was now starting to regret clearing away the snow that she had been under, otherwise she wouldn’t be exposed to the frigid winds of this unknown territory. Shuddering, she couldn’t help but notice how the chill seemed to be bothering her much more than usual… She wasn’t usually the kind to really mind getting cold in the winter, but the absolute cold of this place was overwhelming even for her. Groaning softly, she moved to get herself up and standing. She needed to get a move on, she would freeze to death if she stayed still for too long. As she reached her arms out towards the snow-covered ground in front of her to help lift herself up, she blinked slightly in shock and confusion when she couldn’t help but notice that her arms weren’t exactly arms, but small, bat-like wings… And in place of hands, she had two protrusions that seemed to stick out like fingers. This couldn’t be real… right? She had been out cold for however long and she was just seeing things. As she managed to bring herself to stand, she looked down at herself, noticing that she seemed to be much smaller in stature than she remembered. Her eyes went wide as she noticed her chest was covered in thick, midnight black fur that wrapped around her neck like a mane, and her legs were covered with the exact same fur as well, soaked through and through from being buried in the snow for so long. Her feet were now little purple colored paws with clawed toes, and the same purple color could be seen around her midriff where it separated the black fur on her chest and legs. Her breathing grew heavy and labored, unable to believe that she was now this… thing, whatever it was that she had become.
Pushing a little ways through the snow, she looked around for something that could be used as a mirror that would allow her to get a better look at herself, a frozen pond or something of that sort. She didn’t want to believe what she was, she needed some sort of assurance that she was just hallucinating, that her senses hadn’t fully come back to her. Sure enough, she stumbled upon what looked to be a frozen puddle of some sort, and leaned down slightly to look at herself. Her eyes went wide, her heart hammered in her chest when she realized that what she had been seeing before was indeed correct. The face that stared back at her, sharing the same reaction as she, was a furry purple bat-like head, including the pointed nose, along with a large pair of ears that dominated the top of her skull and huge eyes the color of warm honey or amber. ” Noibat…” was the first thought that crept into mind as she shakily observed her appearance, and she slowly reached up towards her neck with nervous hands, erm, claws. She was surprisingly still able to feel with these little claw fingers she now had, and her hyperventilating began to subside when her exploring claws brushed against the familiar fabric of her collar and lightly jingled the little silver bell attached to it. She remembered this thing… the chime of the bell always helped to ease her in the midst of a stressful situation, though the sound if it sounded much louder and clearer with her large ears and enhanced hearing. It was a little hard to see where the collar was, since it was blocked by the thick tufts of black fur from her viewpoint, but just knowing that it was still there was enough to reassure her for the time being.
As much as she’d like to try to figure out how and why she was a Noibat, now was not the time or the place to be mulling over such thoughts. She needed to find a way out of here… she couldn’t stay in this place for too long or else she’d freeze to death. From the looks of it, she seemed to be in some sort of frozen canyon, which would explain the mountainous cliffs all around and the extremely frigid weather… She glanced down at her wings once again, wishing that she could simply fly her way out of here. But the biting cold of the winds and the wet chill of the snow around her made it seem more practical to keep her wings folded around her for warmth. She shivered once again as another polar wind swept through the area, instinctively wrapping her wings around herself to try to maintain as much body heat as possible as she slowly kept moving forward. Maybe she could find someone else who could help her get out of here, or some sort of exit… Right now, she wanted nothing more than to get someplace warm and comfortable as soon as remotely possible.

☁Skye~

Things weren't going to become much clearer if Skye continued sitting there freezing his newfound tail off. The Pichu stood and brushed the powdery ice off of his fur and adjusted the goggles atop his head. It was time to get moving and figure out a few things. There had to be some sort of clues here right? It didn't seem like it at first, but Skye was trying to stay positive as he scoured the icy terrain. Eventually, he happened upon a lump of snow protruding from the ground. "Hmm.... Perhaps a clue?" Skye approached and dug around the lump, eventually coming up with a Pecha berry. The pink delicacy was stiff and solidified from the cold temperatures around it. Honestly Skye wasn't sure how it had gotten to or survived the canyon's freezing temperatures. Surely there wasn't a Pecha tree around nearby, but nevertheless Skye placed the find in his bag.

Glancing back up however, the Pichu saw a small figure trudging through the snow. He was a pokemon now right? What if that pokemon wanted to battle? Could he even fight? Did he know any moves? The idea of a battle got the Pichu's blood pumping. How exciting! What if he could shoot shocks of electricity at something?! He could be like a superhero! Skye grinned and crouched down, crawling up to the figure cautiously and spoke to himself quietly. "Captains log, day unknown, month unknown; the brave pilot Skye discovers himself in a strange and icy world with no indication of how or why he got there, in his search for clues he happens upon an odd shape in the otherwise flat snowy surface and...." He reared up and sprang at the figure with all his might. "Pounces!!!!" He cried out with a wild grin, tackling the Noibat and sending them both rolling in the snow. Skye couldn't help but laugh at the adrenaline rush he got.

"Haha! Gotcha! You're mine now!" The Pichu sprang back easily to his feet and began bouncing around with a series of short punches and kicks, fighting off invisible bad guys. "Hiya! Wa-cha! You gonna battle me? You probably shouldn't. I'm tiny but mighty! I pack a big punch! Wa-pa-POW!" He continued his rather.... Interesting display of "martial arts" and ended up slipping on some loose snow and falling flat on his face. Oops.... Skye thought to himself, mentally sweat dropping and standing quickly to take a fighting pose and showing he was perfectly fine, hoping that maybe his adversary didn't see.

❁ ❁【 Korin continued traversing the frigid landscape, glancing around in hopes of finding either someone who could help her out of this place or some area that might indicate an exit. The going was rather slow, however, since her little legs could only carry her so fast. It would be much faster if she was actually able to fly, but the chilly air in the place was hindering her abilities. Right now, the most prudent way to stay warm was to keep her wings wrapped around her and try to preserve as much body heat as possible, at least until she could find a way out of here. She really wished she had something that would be of use against the cold… a scarf or something that she could wrap around herself like a coat. Ugh… this was one of the absolute worst situations she could’ve possibly ended up in, and the fact that she didn’t even know how or why she was here was really bugging her. She wracked her brain for anything, ideas, memories, thoughts… anything that could provide some hints as to how she had ended up in such an unusual predicament. But nothing ever came to mind, which made it all the more frustrating… Sighing softly, watching as her breath became frosted vapor in the chilly air around her, Korin decided to try to keep a chin up and make her way out of this. The sooner she was in someplace that was warm and cozy, the better… a cup of hot chocolate sounded good right about now… Wait, hot chocolate? It sounded familiar… but she couldn’t remember exactly where she had heard or seen it from… Well, now wasn’t the time to be thinking such idle thoughts when she was in danger of death by deep freeze.
Her eyes lit on an odd looking lump in a small snow pile near an icy rock, and she figured that maybe it might be some sort of clue to help lead her out of this place. Or maybe it was something that she could use to keep herself warm until she got out of here… Slowly approaching it, she bent down slightly and scraped at the snow diligently. With minutes, she found that the object underneath was an Oran Berry, though the fruit seemed to be frozen solid and hard as a rock from being exposed to the snow and air for so long. Well, it wasn’t quite what she had hoped to find, but maybe it would come in handy somewhere along the line, so she decided to keep it with her for the time as she placed it in her bag. Though how it had gotten there to begin with was beyond her… from what she had surveyed of the area, there were no berry trees of any sort growing around here. And it wasn’t possible for plant life to survive here anyways with how cold it was, except maybe for evergreens… Still, that was neither here nor there, she continued to press onwards in hopes of finding a way out. She couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if she were to come across another Pokemon… she had a feeling that maybe not all of the Pokemon she’d come across would be willing to lend a helping hand. What if they wanted to battle? Fighting had never really been her strong suit… she really didn’t want to have to fight anyone or anything… But she guessed that if she was going to make it through this, she was going to have to do everything she could, even if it meant fighting another Pokemon…
Korin huddled closer to herself as another chill wind blew through the canyon, her teeth chattering a little as she tried her best to stay as warm as possible. Her ears twitched slightly as she thought she heard some noise close by… almost as if someone was talking or something… Suddenly feeling frightened, she tensed up as she started to turn her head in that direction to see what or who it was. Before she had any chance to react, a yell sounded from disturbingly close by and another body slammed into hers, sending her tumbling into the snow below. She blinked slightly as the shock and confusion started to wear off, barely registering the other laughing nearby as she tried to recall what exactly had happened within the last five seconds.
"Haha! Gotcha! You're mine now!" sounded the voice from close by. Korin stiffened, feeling a flood of overwhelming sensations overtake her. This sounded quite similar to a great many situations that she had been in before, all of which were memories that she didn’t want to remember. She immediately curled up into a ball, hiding her face in her wings as she trembled out of instinctual fright. ” D-Don’t hurt me…” she whimpered, feeling tears prickling at the corners of her eyes, ” P-Please…”
She wasn’t quite sure what she was thinking would happen next, mostly expecting the other to start wailing on her with punches and kicks until she submitted or ran away. That was what always happened when she got in situations like these… she wasn’t sure how she remembered that, but she was acting mostly on instinct. However, when she didn’t feel any blows against her, she chanced a slight peek as she slowly opened her wings to see who her assailant was. She blinked slightly when she saw a Pichu, wearing what looked to be goggles and a scarf of some sort, jumping around and showing off all sorts of martial arts type moves at the air around him as he started talking about how powerful he was. In all his apparent excitement, the Pichu suddenly stepped on a loose snow pile, slipping and landing flat on his face. Korin couldn’t help but be confused and amused at the same time, allowing herself a small smile as she slowly stood up once again. The Pichu stood up quickly once more, taking on a fighting pose and trying to save face for his little mishap earlier. Korin quickly raised her wings up in defense around her face, taking a few cautionary steps back so that she could run away if needed. ” I-I don’t want to fight you…” she said, hoping that she could try to reason with the other and get out of this unscathed, ” I-If I’ve done anything t-to wrong you, I’m sorry! J-Just don’t hurt me, I b-beg of you…” A few more steps back, Korin wanted to put as much distance between herself and the Pichu as possible so that it would be easier for her to flee. She knew that she would be at a severe disadvantage against this Pokemon, knowing what Pichus were capable of and her inability to fly due to the cold weather hampering her capabilities. However, she wasn’t looking where she was going as she backed away, and her foot caught on a small rock jutting out of the snow nearby. She yelped as she fell and landed on her back in the snow, shivering as she was surrounded by the frigid white powder yet again. Well now she’d gone and done it… she’d ruined her chance to escape because she had tripped over something she couldn’t see like an idiot! Not knowing what else she could do, Korin curled up against herself, her wings remaining over her face to shield it from the brunt of whatever the Pichu wanted to do against her. She was at his mercy now…

He then began to put forth what he thought seemed like an impressive array of martial arts moves. He was somewhat surprised the pokemon wasn't fighting back, but when he tried to vance over towards his opponent he lost his balance and slipped on loose snow, falling flat on his face. However, when he popped back up to his feet again, the little bat pokemon cowered, covering her face with her wings. Skye slowly relaxed his pose when the pokemon spoke, claiming she didn't want to fight him and apologizing for anything she might have done to cause him to want to fight. "H-hey...." The Pichu frowned and tried to approach slowly, but she begged that he not hurt her and continued to back away.

Unfortunately it seemed she was just as clumsy as he was, and tripped over backwards on a small rock. The poor thing was so frightened that she practically shriveled up into a tiny ball on the snow. On the one hand, Skye was pretty proud he'd seemed so intimidating, but on the other, he didn't feel good about scaring this poor little girl. He ran over quickly, somewhat worried about her and wanting to see if she was alright, but she still continued to tremble and cover herself up so it was hard to tell how much of it was out of fear and out of pain. "Are you okay...?" He asked gently, patting her wing with one of his tiny little paws. "I won't hurt you, don't worry... I'm sorry miss..." He felt really bad now for traumatizing her. "I was just eager for a friendly scuffle, you know, like roughhousing?" He reared back and wiggled his tail playfully, but slowly stood again, all sense of play fading once more. "I didn't mean to hurt ya.... Honest miss, it was all just in good fun." He explained. "I'm actually lost, and you were the first person I've seen for a while, and since you're a pokemon, I thought maybe.... I dunno I guess fighting your first encounter isn't the smartest idea, but hindsight's 20/20." Skye shrugged.

❁ ❁【 Korin wasn’t certain of how to react in the presence of this other Pokemon, though she had gotten the sense that her ‘assailant’ was itching for a battle since they had tackled her out of practically nowhere. Her instincts made her take on a cowering position, hoping that the other would see that she didn’t want to fight and maybe back off. She could see him through the slight crack she made in her wings, shivering out of fear as she saw the Pichu’s fur crackling with sparks while he pulled off a display of what she supposed were some sort of martial arts moves. Still, he was clearly more battle-capable than she was… He seemed rather surprised when he noticed that she hadn’t made any move against him, and started moving towards her. When he suddenly slipped on a loose snow pile and fell on his face, Korin couldn’t help but be a bit amused at the display and allowed herself a small smile as she stood back on her feet. However, her amusement faded just as quickly as it came as the Pichu stood back up and took on a battle position. Thinking that she could try to reason with the other, she spoke, saying that she didn’t want to fight him and apologizing for anything she might have done to make him want to fight her. All the while, she took a few steps back, trying to put as much distance between herself and him in hopes that she could buy herself some time to escape in case her tactic didn’t seem to be working.
The Pichu spoke, slowly moving to approach her, and acting on instinct, she begged him not to hurt her as she continued to back away. However, she hadn’t noticed the small rock in her way until it was too late, and she ended up tripping over it and falling on her back in the snow. Feeling that she had ultimately ruined her chance to escape, all she could do was curl up in a ball and shield herself, hoping that whatever the Pichu wanted to throw at her wouldn’t hurt too much. She could hear his footsteps approaching rapidly as they crunched in the snow, and prepared for the world of pain that would undoubtedly follow. However, she felt a soft touch on her wing, and the Pichu’s voice asking gently if she was okay. A bit surprised at this, she hesitated for a brief moment before slowly bringing her wings away from her face to look at him properly. He assured her that he meant no harm, and apologizing for scaring her. ” I… It’s alright…” she said with a slow nod, her tremors subsiding slightly now that she was sure that the Pichu wouldn’t hurt her, ” I’m fine…” Apart from being scared out of her wits, she had otherwise sustained no injuries since the snow had served to cushion her when she had tripped and fallen. She carefully maneuvered herself to pick herself back up and climb to her feet, her warm amber eyes watching the Pichu curiously as he continued speaking. He said that he had just been eager for a friendly fight, like roughhousing or something of the like as he reared back and wiggled his little black tail in a playful manner. ” Oh…” she said as realization came to her, looking down towards the snow-covered ground out of embarrassment that she had overreacted over all of this for no reason, ” I don’t usually do a lot of that… I’ve never been much of a fighter. I thought you had meant an actual fight.”
She honestly had thought that he had actually wanted a real battle, surely she wouldn’t have reacted so strongly if he had just said he’d wanted a playful fight in the first place. But she wasn’t about to say it out loud, the damage had already been done and there was nothing that could’ve been done to change it. He said that he hadn’t meant to hurt her and admitting that it had all been in good fun. She listened quietly as he explained that he was actually lost and that she was the first sign of other life that he had seen for a while. ” You’re the first person that I’ve met so far too,” she admitted with a nod, which was true, she had not come across any other Pokemon so far until this Pichu showed up. And even then, he looked just as out of place in this strange area as she did. Was he perhaps in the same situation as she was? He went on to say that since she was a Pokemon, he had thought that engaging her in a friendly fight would have been a good idea, though he guessed that fighting his first encounter hadn’t been the smartest idea. She gave a small smile and a nod at that, her eyes drifting down towards the scarf that was draped around the other Pokemon. She really needed something that could maybe help to warm her up a little, and the scarf looked big enough for both her and the Pichu to share between each other. However, Korin inwardly shook her head at the thought… she would never dare to ask such a question of a complete stranger, that would be both weird and creepy. Wrapping her wings around her tightly to try to keep herself warm, she sized up the Pichu with a cautious but curious gaze. ” Who are you…?” she asked, not sure of why she was asking if the other Pokemon had a name. Then again, she was a Pokemon, and she still went by Korin, because that was what she had always been called. Well, in that case she had pretty much just answered her own question. Still, she couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed when the Pichu had mentioned being lost, which meant that he knew his way around this strange territory no better than she did. On the other hand, he did seem to be quite friendly from what she’d seen of his personality so far, something that she had encountered on very rare occasions from what her memories could gather.
Her reclusive nature was still rather wary of the Pichu, though Korin felt like she could trust him to some degree in the sense that she saw no harm in getting to know more about him. At least so that they wouldn’t be utter strangers to each other, fairly awkward first encounters aside... Maybe they could band together and try to find a way out of this place with each other’s help. They do say that there’s safety in numbers… and Korin felt somewhat lucky that she had been able to find a pleasant presence in this vast snowy wasteland. She wasn’t sure if any other Pokemon dwelled here or not, but she wouldn’t want to encounter a hostile creature while she was alone…

☁Skye~

Skye felt pretty bad for scaring this poor girl out of her wits, even if she was a pokemon, she still had feelings like a human did. He attempted to help her back to her feet, but he wasn't quite sure what he could pull or push, bat anatomy was rather foreign to him and he didn't want to accidentally hurt her after he'd just established that he didn't want to. So he ended up just making sure she didn't fall over again as she helped herself up, explaining that he'd only wanted to roughhouse and that he didn't actually mean her any harm. She wasn't a fighter though, which explained her initial reaction. "You don't really have to be a fighter to roughhouse, it's like... Wrestling, it's fun and you just kinda roll around on a bed or something and laugh a lot and try to pin each other down until someone gives up." Now that he thought about it, that actually sounded pretty horrible. Skye rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Er... I mean, my brothers and I did it all the time, and I thought it was pretty-" He paused suddenly. Brothers? Did he have brothers? ....No, he had just gotten a glimpse of the memory and now it was gone again, he just couldn't quite recall any other memories.

He quickly moved on to another subject, pointing out that he was lost and that she was the first pokemon he'd seen after a while, so maybe it hadn't been the smartest thing to pounce on her but he was just excited. Thankfully she seemed pretty forgiving, admitting that he was the first pokemon she had seen in a while as well. He gave her a crooked but adorable smile, remaining ever so optimistic even though they were clearly both lost together. She seemed to be focused on something else though, his neck it seemed. He glanced gown at the scarf at his neck and glanced back up, opening his mouth to say something, but by the time he'd looked back over, she had already wrapped her wings around her body and changed the subject, asking who he was. "Oh right! Sorry, I'm Skye~ Nice to meetcha." He nodded, offering another smile.

"What about yo-" He started to ask, but the ground below them suddenly heaved, and Skye lost his balance, falling to his hands and knees. "What in the deep blue...." He felt more moving and found that he and Korin were moving away from the ice. Not only that, but some larger rocks were moving on their own in front of him. But that was odd, rocks didn't move on their own.... Unless.... Skye looked upside down and between his legs to see what was going on behind him, finding himself face to face with a Steelix. The massive iron beast gave an earth shattering roar, and Skye immediately paled. He had wanted to test out his abilities, but this was not the way to do it. Skye jumped to his feet and grabbed one of the Noibat's hook-like claws to get her moving with him. "RUN!!!" He screamed, heading for a smaller crevice that they could slip through and that would hopefully keep the Steelix at bay, at least long enough that they could escape or it would give up, whichever came first.

                                                                    Stats:

❁ ❁【 Korin felt her tremors slowly starting to ebb away once she felt certain that she could trust the Pichu would keep true to his word. In fact, now that she wasn’t in the midst of trying to run away, she could see that he didn’t seem to be that bad of an individual as she had thought. Then again, she’d never really had any friends before, it was almost odd to experience a friendly atmosphere for once… She blinked slightly at that, wondering how she remembered something like that. It was understandable, given her reclusive nature and tendency to keep her distance from others. As she helped herself up, she could see the Pichu moving out of the corner of her eye to help her up. He seemed rather unsure though, possibly out of caution, and instead watched her as she stood to make sure she didn’t end up falling over again. She averted her gaze as a light blush tinted her cheeks, though she had to admit that she really did appreciate the sentiment, foreign as it was to her. She listened quietly with intent as he explained that he had only wanted to roughhouse, to which she responded that she wasn’t a fighter as a means of explaining her reaction. He said that she didn’t have to be a fighter for roughhousing, that it was sort of like wrestling where they rolled around on a bed or something of the like and had fun. She blinked slightly, seeming genuinely interested as he said that they would try to pin each other down until someone gave up. He explained that he used to do it all the time with his brothers, so he thought it would have been a good idea at the time. Korin gave a small smile at that, thinking that maybe she would like to try something like that. She didn’t have any siblings growing up, so she had never really gotten the chance to experience such things like roughhousing and whatever else siblings did.
She blinked once again at that, sighing inwardly once again as she once again couldn’t find anything to connect the fragment of memory to. It was really frustrating, knowing that there was a lot of important stuff and not able to remember most of it except what came in small fragments. She had noticed the Pichu had suddenly paused in the middle of his sentence after talking about his brothers, a thoughtful look on his face as if he too was trying to remember something. Nonetheless, the subject of conversation was quickly changed as he explained that he had been lost for a while and that she had been the first person he’d seen so far. At least she didn’t feel like she was the only one out here who had no idea of where she was or where she was going, and she admitted that he was also the first person besides herself that she’d encountered so far. Albeit their first encounter could have gone a lot better than it had, but Korin guessed that she couldn’t blame the Pichu for his excitement and eagerness and wanting to launch into some playful fighting right off the bat. Still, she was a bit disappointed that he was lost like she was, but at least it made her feel not so alone in this uncharted territory that she knew next to nothing about. She caught the rather dorky smile that he had on his face, and she couldn’t help but give her own small one in return. He certainly seemed like the rather optimistic type, which intrigued her quite a bit and certainly helped to lift her spirits a little. Her eyes trailed down to the scarf around his neck, wondering if she could maybe ask him to share it with her so that she could at least be a bit warmer. But she pushed those thoughts aside, not wanting to seem weird by asking such odd questions of someone that she had just met even though he seemed to want to say something.
Korin quickly changed the subject, and instead asked a question that would be much more appropriate for the scenario as she inquired who he was. The Pichu seemed surprised that he hadn’t introduced himself yet, apologizing before introducing himself as Skye. ” Skye… that’s a really nice name,” she commented with a smile in return to his, nodding as he said it was nice to meet her. When he asked for her name in return, she made to respond, since it was only fair that she give him her name since he’d been so kind to give her his. However, they were interrupted when the ground beneath them suddenly buckled, as if something were moving around underneath the snow and whatever else lay below it. Korin’s eyes went wide as she staggered, quickly spacing her legs out a bit and holding her wings out to her sides to keep herself balanced. She moved over to help out Skye, who had lost his balance and had fallen to his knees, when she noticed that they seemed to be moving away from the ice as the ground shifted below them, as if some unknown force was pushing them. ” Are you alright, Skye?” she asked as she made her way to him, reaching out one of her wings to help him to his feet. However, she froze when she caught strange movement out of the corner of her eye, and saw what looked to be a row of large rocks moving around on their own. How bizarre… rocks weren’t able to move by themselves from what she remembered… Unless, the rocks were maybe a part of something… Sure enough, her suspicions were confirmed when a massive Steelix reared its huge head above them. Korin couldn’t help but stare in awe and horror at the great iron monster, which was certainly a great deal larger than both herself and Skye combined. The Steelix unleashed a grandiose roar that sounded similar to the terrible noise of two trains crashing head-on into each other, and the Noibat cringed as she scrambled to cover her ears. As loud as the noise would sound to everyone else, it was even worse for her since her large ears and keen hearing senses made the noise louder by a hundred fold for her. Try as she might, she couldn’t completely plug up her ears, and the noise left them ringing terribly as it faded out. She knew that she should be running away from this thing, but her legs felt like gelatin out of fear, and her ringing ears made it hard for her to hear anything outside of her own thoughts. Her paralysis was thankfully broken when Skye grabbed the little claws on one of her wings, apparently having helped himself up and was urging her to run away. She quickly obliged, moving her legs as fast as possible to keep up with him and put as much distance between them and the Steelix as they could.
The ground trembled below them, a sign that the huge metallic snake Pokemon was hot on their heels as they headed towards a small crevice in the rock wall nearby. With their luck, they would be able to lose the Steelix that way, or at least hide out until it gave up and left them alone, whichever one was the most likely to happen first. Sure enough, they made it to the crevice, and slipped between the rocks not a moment too soon just as the Steelix lunged forward, slamming into the rock wall with a Tackle attack with a dastardly crashing noise. Korin never let go of Skye’s hand as they weaved their way through the crevice, which seemed to be more like a small, narrow tunnel as they traversed further in. She could barely make out the Steelix’s enraged roar at losing its quarry, though she assumed that meant they had lost it. The crevice seemed to go on a bit further, before it opened out to an area that looked similar to where they had last been. Maybe it had lead them to another part of the canyon? It certainly seemed to be that way… Once she was certain that the Steelix was no longer following them, she let go of Skye’s hand with a heavy sigh, rubbing at her temples in an attempt to clear the ringing from her ears. ” That was too close…” she mumbled, though she spoke it a bit louder than she had intended due to her hearing troubles at the moment. Her eyes lit on another small lump in the snow, similar to the one she’d seen when she’d found that Oran Berry a while back. Scraping the snow away, it was revealed to be another Oran Berry, which she supposed was a good thing even though she wasn’t too certain of what they did. Still, it seemed prudent to keep it for now, maybe have it on hand so she could give it to Skye when he might need it, assuming they were going to stick together. Putting the Oran away in her bag, she groaned softly as she resumed rubbing at her temples to try to ease the ringing in her ears as she looked to Skye. ” Are you alright...?” she asked, looking him over with concerned eyes to make sure he hadn’t been harmed in any way, even though he seemed to be fine for the most part.

His little lopsided grin only grew in size as she complimented his name, but before he could ask for hers, he was thrown into the snow again by a heave from the ground. Korin was at least able to flutter her wings and keep herself balanced, and quickly came over to try and help him up, but as he looked past her he saw moving rocks. It was a strange enough occurrence to ignore her briefly and check his surroundings, and he followed Korin's stunned gaze behind him to find that they were standing on a massive Steelix. Somehow, the pokemon seemed really unhappy and agitated, roaring at them viscously. Skye cringed at the noise, so close and so loud, but it must have been ten times worse for Korin with her large sensitive ears. He helped her cover them as best as he could until the roaring died down, but they wouldn't be able to completely block out the noise. She obviously seemed dazed after the roaring settled down, but they needed to get moving, so Skye took one of her wing claws and urged her along with him.

Thankfully she obliged and they were off and running. Skye didn't look beck, he couldn't, because it wouldn't do any good. He knew the Steelix was close by the way the ground rumbled and the pokemon roared, but he needed to focus on getting to that small crevice. That was their chance at escaping, and as soon as they neared it, Skye pushed Korin through first and dove in after her, just narrowly escaping the Steelix's powerful tackle. The giant steel type slammed it's body up against the ice and gave an enraged roar, trying to squeeze itself through but unable to do so. Skye kept inching away, but stole a glance back towards the angry pokemon, sighing in relief once it seemed like they had successfully escaped. They continued moving though, getting as much distance from the Steelix as possible. Their path made a slight incline, but the large canyon's walls still remained towering high above them, until they eventually came out through an opening similar to the area they had been before. It was hard to really tell the difference in each area, they would have to be careful not to take the same routes over and over, otherwise they'd be going in circles around this frozen wasteland forever.

Korin mumbled that the encounter had been rather close, though her mumbling was at an awkwardly loud volume, likely because her ears were still ringing. Skye wasn't quite sure if she meant for him to hear, but he chuckled a bit to himself and nodded in agreement. "Yeah... Looks like we're safe for now though." He pointed out, though not sure if she'd heard him or not as she zeroed in on a lump of snow he hadn't seen, digging out an oran berry and sticking it in her bag and then asking if he was alright. He gave a light chuckle and came closer. "Yeah I'll be fine, if anything I should be asking you that. How're your ears holding' up miss?" He asked quietly, as to not do any more damage. They looked alright, likely just shocked by the up close and loud noise. "Come on, we should keep moving. Up preferably since up's where we headed last. Might give us a better perspective of the place so we can see where to go next right?" He offered, motioning forward. He may have ben lost, but he knew a thing or two about navigating that could help them through.

"So er... What'd you say your name was again miss?" Skye asked curiously as they began moving again. He shivered slightly, feeling colder now that they were higher up, but rather than wrapping his large scarf just around himself, he recalled that the Noibat had been pretty cold too and wrapped the scarf around both of them, figuring he had more fur than she did so she must've been even colder than he was. They could stick together for bady heat too, and with them active and moving, they should warm up more.

                                                                    Stats:

❁ ❁【 Korin couldn’t help but find herself growing to like this Skye character more and more, and she found herself feeling a bit more comfortable around him now that she knew he wasn’t an enemy. She found his dorky little smile to be quite adorable when she complimented his name, though she inwardly shook her head, feeling a bit embarrassed that she was thinking such strange and creepy thoughts. They had only just met, after all! When he started to ask for her name in return, she was about to respond when the ground suddenly started shifting and rumbling below them. Skye was thrown to the ground once again, though Korin managed to barely react in time to keep herself balanced with her wings. She guessed that since she was a flying Pokemon, maybe the tremors didn’t affect her that much… But right now, she needed to get to Skye and get him out of here, because she couldn’t help but get a sinking feeling that something bad was about to happen. She leaned forward to try to help him back to his feet, but froze when she caught strange movement out of her peripheral vision. Her eyes went wide as she looked over in time to see what looked like a strange row of rocks that seemed to be moving… almost as if they were alive. She could only watch in stunned horror when the monster revealed itself as a massive Steelix, who didn’t look the least bit pleased to see them as it gave a furious roar. Korin cringed at the loud noise, which sounded louder to her by a thousand times due to her larger ears and keen sense of hearing. She did her best to cover them to try to block out the noise as much as possible, and thankfully Skye helped her as well. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work as effectively as she had hoped, and the Steelix’s roars left her ears with an absolutely terrible ringing sound long after it had died down. Dazed as she was, she knew that they needed to get away from here as quickly as possible, there was no way they would be able to stand against the massive iron beast as they were right now.
She gladly ran along with Skye as he took one of her hook-claws in hand and started running, the Noibat not daring to look back even though the ringing in her ears made it difficult to gauge the exact distance of the Steelix behind them. Though judging from the way the ground shook around them, she had no doubts that it was in hot pursuit. There was a small crevice up ahead of them, if they could make it through there, they could hopefully throw the Steelix off their trail or wait for it to give up and leave them be. Either way, Korin just kept running alongside Skye, pushing onwards to try to keep the Steelix as far behind them as possible. Once they were close, she felt a slight pressure on her back as Skye urged her into the crevice first, which she willingly obliged to as she moved in ahead of him. She never once let go of his hand as they moved through the crevice, their escape followed moments later with a terrible crashing noise as the Steelix’s heavy metallic body made contact with the rock wall they had disappeared amidst. The impact shook the ground and caused a few loose icy pebbles to scatter onto them from above, but otherwise the wall remained stalwart against the massive iron beast. Another enraged roar followed as the Steelix tried to pursue them through the crevice, but it was clearly much too large and bulky to fit through as the much smaller Pokemon quickly inched their way through. Korin kept pushing on ahead with Skye behind her, not daring to look back until she was certain that they had gotten away. As they pushed further into the crevice, it started to seem more like a narrow tunnel leading them towards somewhere else. The Noibat was hoping that this was the exit that she had been looking for and that they would be out of this icy area entirely once they reached the other side.
The crevice began to take on a slight incline, though the canyon walls remained as towering as ever, and they emerged through the opening into a area similar to the last one. Korin sighed out of relief, because it seemed that they had escaped the Steelix entirely, but she was quite dismayed that what she had thought was the exit had only led them to a similar area. She wondered how far this canyon ran on, and if they had by chance gone around in circles somehow since this new area didn’t seem vastly different from the last. For now, she figured that they could use this chance to catch a breather and recover from what could have been a near-death experience just moments ago, and she let go of Skye’s hand in favor of rubbing her head to try to clear the ringing from her ears. She mumbled that the encounter had been much too close, though she likely ended up saying it a bit louder than she had intended to due to her impaired hearing for the moment. The ringing was slowly starting to clear up a little, and she managed to catch a bit of Skye’s comment that they were safe for now. Korin blushed slightly, rather embarrassed that she had spoken a bit louder than she had wanted, though she supposed it didn’t matter now as she nodded in agreement with the Pichu’s statement. As she scanned around their current surroundings, she noticed another lump in the snow, and dug out another Oran Berry. Figuring that it wouldn’t hurt to have an extra on hand in case they might need it, she stored her new find away before asking Skye if he was alright. As far as she knew, neither of them had taken any damage from the Steelix since they had escaped before it tried to attack them, but she wanted to make certain. Her ears twitched slightly as she picked up on Skye’s laugh, her eyes staying on him as he came closer to her. She angled her ears a little so that she could hear him a bit better, despite the slight ringing that was still left, listening as he said that he was fine and that he should be asking her that question. She gave a small smile, relieved that he was alright, and got a thoughtful look on her face when he asked how her ears were. ” They’re alright, I guess… It might take some time for the ringing to go away completely, but I think the worst of it has passed,” she said with a slight nod, gently running her claw-hooks along the rim of one of her ears, ” As long as I’m not exposed to any more loud noises like that… I think I’ll be fine.”
That Steelix’s roar had been incredibly loud… she felt as if she could’ve almost gone completely deaf just from that. She’d really need to be careful from now on if she wanted to avoid another incident like that, she was really starting to find that having advanced hearing senses was a double-edged sword. She listened closely as Skye spoke again, saying that they should keep moving and that heading upwards was preferable. Well, that was where they had been heading when they went through the crevice, it would only make sense for them to continue moving in that general direction. She nodded in agreement with his statement that they would be able to get a better perspective of the area so they could see where to go next. ” Yeah… sounds good, up it is then,” she said, feeling that she could trust Skye to help them through this. He certainly seemed to know a bit more about navigating this place than she did… She gazed up at the canyon walls around them, shivering a little at how daunting they looked from their perspective. Maybe there was a way up, or at least some high area around this place that they could use to find the exit… For now, she brought her gaze back to the path ahead as they started moving again, walking alongside Skye as she wrapped her wings around her body. Korin couldn’t help but notice how it seemed colder here than in the last area… though she guessed that the temperature had dropped a little since they were now a bit higher up. Still, it wouldn’t do any good for her, she’d only be freezing to death faster at this rate. Her ears flicked slightly as Skye spoke up again, asking her what she had said her name was again. She remembered that she had been about to introduce herself back there, at least before their exchange of formalities was rudely interrupted by the sudden Steelix encounter. ” K-Korin… my n-name is Korin…” she responded, the shakiness in her speech being more out of her shivering from the cold than from her own nerves. She hadn’t even known she was shivering until now, her body desperately trying to generate more heat to keep her warm.
She blinked in surprise when Skye draped a section of his scarf around her, having not expected the gesture. Though she was truly grateful for it as she hugged the soft, warm fabric of the scarf close to her, she would’ve asked him about it earlier but had refrained since it would’ve been awkward and a bit creepy then. ” Thank you…” she said quietly with a small smile, glancing down as a light blush tinted her cheeks. Skye was just so nice… she couldn’t help but feel flattered by the kind gesture, but at the same time she felt rather awkward. Last she recalled, almost no one had been this nice to her… She hadn’t even had any friends before, and though she really liked that she was being treated kindly for once, it still felt rather foreign to her… Still, maybe it was something she could start to get used to, Skye was just a pleasant individual to be around in general and she couldn’t help but want to get to know him a little more, even though her natural instincts was telling her not to. Her eyes clouding over slightly as she immersed herself in her thoughts, she unconsciously pressed closer to Skye, feeling that their shared body heat could help keep each other warm as they traversed this frozen wasteland together.

☁Skye~

Skye only took a moment to catch his breath once they had seemingly escaped the Steelix, but the moment was short lived as he pressed for them both to keep moving. Skye didn't want to stick around any longer to figure out whether or not they had actually escaped the giant steel type, and he was fairly certain his new Noibat companion didn't either. However, he first had to make sure she was alright, even as he ushered her along. She seemed to be fine at least, a suspicion that was confirmed when she suggested that the worst of the ringing in her ears had passed. "Well that's good, but yeah, I would agree that you should try to take it easy from here on out." Skye nodded, then got a bit of a grin on his face. "No more loud noises for you missy, doctors orders~" He chuckled, and with that they continued moving, onwards and upwards. The direction they had been heading–since there was no real clear "path" per se–sloped upwards once again, but still there didn't seem to be any signs of life anywhere except for the occasional odd lump of snow, and the colder air as their altitude increased.

Skye and Korin were both trembling like leaves in a hurricane, so to keep their minds sharp and the conversation going, Skye asked for the Noibat's name since she had yet to tell him, mainly due to the rude interruption of that Steelix. Meanwhile, he wrapped them both up in his scarf since there was plenty of excess cloth and they were both fairly small in stature, smiling as Korin revealed her name at last. "Korin eh? I like it." He nodded affirmatively, perhaps a bit more vigorously than he would normally but that was partially because he was trying to keep his blood moving and partially because he had a pretty bad case of the jitters from this freezing climate. Korin gladly huddled herself close within his scarf's fabric, quietly offering a ''thank you' as she did so. "N-no problem miss...." Skye gave her a sheepish smile, feeling his face heat up a bit in embarrassment, but he didn't mind. Honestly he needed the warmth.

Maybe they could use more embarrassment to their advantage. "H-hey Korin, I've got a crazy idea, but it just might work...." Skye said somewhat out of the blue. "L-let's exchange super embarrassing memories! It might keep our faces warm, y'know.... Cause we'd be embarrassed and more blood would rush to our faces, o-or we'd laugh and it'd keep our energy and spirits high. Either way it should be good right?" He chuckled nervously, somewhat regretting opening his mouth now and blurting out such a weird idea. He felt like he had done something like that before, plenty of times. Actually now that he thought about it, did he have any embarrassing memories to share? Or even any memories at all? The more he thought about it, the more annoying and inconvenient the blockage of his thought became. "Y-you know what never mind, sorry... W-we don't have to do it, it was a stupid idea anyways..." He mumbled, mentally face palming himself. Smooth Skye, very smooth. He glanced around at the canyon walls to find something else to distract them. "....I think we're getting higher now." He pointed out, noticing that the walls were noticeably shorter than the area he'd woken up in.

                                                                    Stats:

❁ ❁【 Korin had honestly wanted to take a minute or two of respite to gather their bearings before pressing on, though she could understand Skye’s need to press on further. Though she felt certain that they had left the Steelix far behind, she couldn’t help but cast uneasy glances every now and then in the general direction they had come from. Was it capable of digging underneath the canyon walls? She honestly hoped not… otherwise that would mean that they wouldn’t be out of trouble yet. So far, she hadn’t seen any signs that the huge iron beast was still pursuing them, but she preferred to not stick around to find out. Not to mention that it was for the best that they keep moving, otherwise they’d freeze to death a lot quicker. Nonetheless, they took the time to check on each other’s conditions as they kept moving, Korin feeling considerably relieved that Skye hadn’t been harmed in any way. She, on the other hand, was a bit worse for the wear due to almost being deafened by that Steelix’s roar. Good lord… she just might have to start carrying around giant earplugs at this point to avoid something like that from happening ever again. Thankfully, she was glad to confirm that the worst of the ringing in her ears had passed, though it may take some time for it to clear up completely. At the very least, though, she was able to hear him much better than several minutes ago. She gave a shy smile as Skye said that it was good that her hearing was starting to recover, but he agreed with her suggestion of avoiding loud noises like that from here on out. ” I’ll try, doctor,” she said with a small smile, holding a wing up to her face to hide her giggle as she played along with him, ” No guarantees, though.” With that said, they kept pushing forwards, heading in the upwards direction since it seemed to be the best choice for them. Unfortunately, the increasing altitude also meant that the already freezing air around them would get even colder as they climbed. At least they’d been lucky enough to not encounter another Steelix so far… one was bad enough as far as she was concerned.
The colder weather wasn’t doing any favors for the Noibat, and it seemed that her Pichu companion was starting to feel the bite of the wintry freeze as well. In the meantime, they tried to look for ways to keep themselves focused and warm as Skye picked up from where they left off before the Steelix encounter and asked her name. Although it felt rather strange to her, Korin was more than grateful when Skye draped his scarf around the both of them, even though she felt rather awkward as well. She had never really known anyone who had been this nice to her before… it was a very odd feeling that made her feel weird, yet it was also comforting at the same time. If anything, she was at least grateful that Skye was a very nice individual, and she gladly obliged by telling him her name in return as they kept pushing forward. However, it was clear that the cold was starting to get to her, she hadn’t even noticed she was shivering until now, her teeth chattering as she spoke. She felt her face heat up a little as Skye said that he liked her name, though she gave a small smile in return. ” Th-Thank you…” she said softly, huddling closer to him within the scarf as they kept moving ahead as she noticed him nodding his head a bit more vigorously. Not that she could blame him, they needed to do all they could do to stay warm in this freezing climate. She thanked him once more for sharing his scarf with her as well. She would have asked him about it earlier, but it would’ve been just creepy and wrong of her to ask such a thing of someone she had only just met. Her smile widened as he said it was no trouble, noticing his face heating up a little as well. ” P-Please… just call me K-Korin,” she said softly as she blushed a little. Not that she really minded being called ‘miss’, but it felt as though it made her feel older than she actually was. Come to think of it… she wasn’t sure of how old she was. No matter how much she tried to summon up memories or something to help clarify on things like this, she always came up with nothing… But she supposed that the best thing for now was to focus on the path ahead, and trying not to freeze to death in the process of getting out of here.
As they kept trudging onwards, her attention was brought to Skye as he suggested that he had a crazy idea that just might work. Quite intrigued, she glanced at him as he suggested that they exchange embarrassing memories with each other, because when they were embarrassed the blood would rush to their faces and help keep them warm. Or they could laugh and try to keep their energy and spirits high. As strange an idea as it sounded, she had to admit that it didn’t sound half bad… The problem was that she wasn’t even sure if she had any embarrassing memories to share, and if she did… there was no definite way that she would be able to remember them anyways due to the fact that she couldn’t remember even if she tried. It seemed that Skye had come to that realization as well, as he said never mind and apologizing for even suggesting such a ‘stupid idea’. ” I… I didn’t think it was that bad of an idea,” Korin responded softly, giving him a small smile in hopes to reassure him a little. When he pointed out that they seemed to be getting higher now, she glanced around at their surroundings, noticing that the walls of the canyon were getting significantly shorter than she remembered. ” W-Well, at least we’re getting closer to the t-top, right?” she asked with a nod, trying to channel some of Skye’s optimism to keep their spirits up. She inwardly shook her head at it, dear lord, that could’ve been a much better attempt in many regards. Perhaps she should leave that sort of stuff to Skye… he seemed to be much better at this positivity stuff than she was. Still, what could they do to distract themselves? It would undoubtedly get colder and colder as they ascended, they’d need to find more means to stay warm and keep their minds off of the chill. She had to admit that Skye’s suggestions hadn’t sounded half-bad, but maybe they needed a different conduit for that kind of stuff…
” H-How about singing…? M-Maybe we could try to sing any songs th-that we know to keep ourselves distracted?” she suggested, wondering if Skye knew any songs by chance. Did she even know any songs herself? Maybe she could make something up as they went… but she wasn’t that good at improvising, she didn’t think… Still, she guessed that it couldn’t hurt too much to at least try, though she couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy about doing it in front of Skye. Maybe he wouldn’t judge her too much if she did a poor job of it; at the very least it would at least keep them distracted from the cold around them. Taking a deep breath, she tried her best to calm her nerves and just focus on something other than Skye to keep herself from getting too nervous. She could’ve sworn she could hear a faint sound emanating from the back of her mind… though it sounded vaguely like… someone playing a piano… How in the world she remembered what that was, she wasn’t sure, but she found her lips starting to move seemingly on a whim as she began to sing along with the faint tune in her head. ” I-It started out as a feeling… Which then grew into a h-hope,” she sang, her voice soft and wavering slightly due to the fact that her teeth were chattering from the cold, ” Which then t-turned into a quiet thought, which then turned into a quiet w-word…” Her voice steadily grew louder and clearer as the words flowed off of her tongue, each of them sounding familiar and yet she couldn’t place where she had heard them before. ” And then that word grew louder and louder… ‘Til it was a battle cry. I’ll come back, when you call me… No need to say goodbye…” her voice slowly escalated as the song continued, the Noibat gazing ahead with a slight cloudiness in her eyes. She felt as though she knew this song… that she had sung it before about a hundred times, and yet she couldn’t place where or when. If anything, it was at least helping to keep her mind distracted from the weather that was steadily growing colder as they ascended.

☁Skye~

Skye was all too happy that Korin was playing along. It kept the mood light and their spirits up, which was why he was putting on the act in the first place. He was drawing a blank on what to do next though, and settled for keeping them both warm and asking Korin for her name. She thanked him for sharing his warm knit scarf, but when he called her "miss" again she insisted that he just call her Korin instead. Skye chuckled a little. "Heh, s-sorry mi- I mean uh, Korin. It'sa force of habit really. I call all the ladies 'miss', but I'll do my best to just call you Korin if you prefer." He nodded.

They walked in silence for a bit after that, and Skye struggled to come up with some other topic to talk about. Anything would really do, some kind of small talk just to keep their mind gears turning and their focus on something other than the cold. His first idea was a bit of a bust though, since he didn't have enough memories to share, and Korin seemed hesitant on the idea as well, quietly thinking beside him. So Skye dismissed it as a stupid idea and began trying to think of another one, even though Korin insisted that she hadn't thought it was a bad idea. As Skye continued to think of something else, she pointed out that they were getting closer to the top of the canyon at least. "Yeah, I noticed that too...." He nodded, glancing around, though still somewhat lost in thought. Thankfully Korin thought of another idea for him, suggesting they sing something. "Yeah! That's a good idea." He nodded in agreement, but now that he had gotten past his outburst and actually thought about it, did he even know any songs? He couldn't quite think of any of those either. Maybe if her racked his brain hard enough....

Skye blinked as Korin began quietly singing a familiar sounding tune. It was soft and beautiful, and her timid voice suited it perfectly. He only listened at first, in awe of her talent, and then found himself chiming in, memories of the familiar lyrics finding their way to his lips. "Just because everything's changing, doesn't mean it's never been this way before~" Skye grinned and pulled Korin into a light hug. "All you can do is try to know who your friends are, as you head off to the war..." This was a lot of fun! If only he could remember other songs to sing after this. "Pick a star on the dark horizon, and follow the light. You'll come back when it's over, no need to say goodbye..." It was strange, how this song made him feel. Sweet and sad and hopeful all at the same time. The words portrayed two different sides to the same coin, kind of like their situation right now. Two people stuck in a frozen wasteland who were likely to freeze to death, but they had each other's company and it was damn good company too, so it made things a little more bearable.

                                                                    Stats:

❁ ❁【 It was at a time like this that Korin sort of wished that she had become some sort of Fire-type Pokemon, like a Vulpix or a Fennekin or something. That way she would at least be much warmer in this freezing environment, and she would be able to keep Skye warm too by breathing fire every now and again, or whatever it was that Fire-types did… Either way, they agreed to the conclusion that the best course of action was to ascend towards the top of the canyon, though clearly neither of them were looking forward to how much colder it would get on the way there. Nonetheless, they did their best to try to make small talk and keep each other distracted to help ward off the cold. Korin was glad to share her name with him when he asked her, and thanked him once again for sharing his scarf with her. She smiled a bit when Skye chuckled at her insistence that he just call her Korin rather than ‘miss’, saying that it was a force of habit and that he usually called all of the ladies he came across ‘miss’. She nodded when he said that he’d try his best to just address her by her name if that was what she preferred. ” W-Well, it’s okay if you call me ‘miss’ occasionally… o-or you could call me K-Kor… I d-don’t mind too much either way,” she said with a smile, mostly preferring to be addressed by her name even though she honestly didn’t mind being called ‘miss’ or by a certain nickname on occasion. She knew that he was just trying to be polite, which she appreciated quite a bit.
After that little exchange, it fell into an awkward silence between them as they kept going. Korin kept her gaze towards the snow-laden ground, unsure of what they could talk about to try to keep themselves talking and distracted from the chill of the air around them. She’d never had a friend, or anything even remotely close to that, before, and she was still rather new to this whole friendly exchange business. Even Skye seemed to be struggling to think of something, even though that was likely owed to lack of proper memory rather than complete lack of experience. Korin felt bad that she couldn’t do more to contribute to it, but she honestly wasn’t able to come up with anything at all. Of course, she snapped her attention to Skye at his suggestion of sharing embarrassing memories. Unfortunately, the idea didn’t sound as viable as it may have, since it seemed neither of them had enough of such memories to share with each other… But she thought it at least had some potential to it as she tried to reassure him that it wasn’t as bad of an idea as he thought it was. Still, it seemed that they were stuck with trying to figure out something else, taking a brief moment or two to check their surroundings and note how much higher up they were now compared to where they had started. This meant that it would only get colder and colder as they kept going… Korin held the section of scarf Skye had lent her close to herself, wishing that she at least had more fur or something to help keep out the cold. She glanced towards Skye at he agreed with her comment about how they were getting closer towards the top, though they were more engrossed in thinking up ideas to distract themselves. After giving it a bit of thought, an idea crossed Korin’s mind that sounded pretty good to her. Maybe if they sing some songs or something, it would help to keep their minds off the cold as well as lift their spirits. Skye seemed to wholeheartedly agree with it as well when she proposed it to him, but as she thought about it, she found herself running into a problem similar to why the Pichu’s initial plan hadn’t gone over so well. Did she or Skye even know any songs? Maybe they could make up a tune or something, though she wouldn’t even know where to begin…
Just as she was starting to regret proposing the idea to begin with and thought about dismissing it, her attention was brought to a strange, faint noise radiating from the back of her mind. It sounded a lot like… someone was playing a piano, quite beautifully at that… She had no idea of the song it was playing, or how she even remembered what a piano was, and yet she found her lips moving as if they had a mind of their own as she began to sing softly along with the music in her head. Words spilled from her lips as if they had sung along to this tune many times before, her voice soft and wavering slightly at first. It grew slightly louder and sounded much stronger as the song progressed, the previous stutters having vanished completely as she kept going without fail. Her gaze remained on the path ahead, seeming to almost forget that Skye was next to her as her vision clouded slightly. She could feel his gaze on her, though it didn’t seem to bother her as much as it normally would have… Somehow she seemed to feel more confident about her singing if it felt like it was just herself, she had always gotten stage fright whenever she’d had to perform in front of an audience. It was just so nerve-wracking… feeling their judgmental gazes burning into her very soul, sensing the pressure being put on her to do well in her performance, the sense that she would never be able to recover if she screwed up along the way… She was pulled out of her reverie when she suddenly heard Skye singing along with her, a look of wonder and surprise crossing her face as she directed her curious honey gaze at him while she kept on in sync with the piano in her head. But she couldn’t help but feel a bit more relieved, blushing brightly as the Pichu pulled her into a hug, and hesitantly reached a wing out to return the gesture as she draped it around his shoulder.
” Now we’re back to the beginning, it’s just a feeling and no one knows yet,” she sang, all previous hesitation in her voice completely gone as she held Skye close with one wing and the scarf in the other, ” But just because they can’t feel it too doesn’t mean that you have to forget~” Their voices danced alongside each other’s in the frosty air, sending the notes high into the atmosphere in a harmony that wove through their hearts like satin and silk. It was a sweet, sad song, that seemed to portray their situation in many different ways… Here they were, two foreigners traveling together in a strange land, facing the possibilities of freezing to death in this perpetually frozen landscape. But she felt that as long as they had each other… such a fate wouldn’t seem all that bad. It felt like Skye was the first ever individual whose company she actually enjoyed quite a bit, and even if they couldn’t make it out of here alive… she would at least feel some sort of comfort in knowing that she had gotten to meet and know him in what time they had together. ” Let your memories grow stronger and stronger, ‘til they’re before your eyes. You’ll come back when they call you, no need to say goodbye…” her voice gradually grew softer once more as the song came to a close, ” You’ll come back when they call you, no need to say goodbye…” As the last word left her lips, the piano tune in her head slowly petered out, the notes growing quieter and quieter until she could no longer hear it at all. Now that she thought about it… what would happen to them if they happened to make it out of here by luck or sheer perseverance? She hadn’t given much thought to the idea, but now… she couldn’t help but feel a bit worried.
” Skye…” she said softly, turning her gaze towards him momentarily before looking back out to the path ahead, ” What do you think… will happen to us if we do get out of here?” Maybe they could still stick with one another long after they’d left this frozen wasteland behind… but there was also the idea that they might go their separate ways as well… Korin wasn’t sure of what to think… her natural loner instincts were telling her it would be for the better if she went off on her own after this. And yet… Skye was the only one she had met so far who was genuinely nice to her, the one individual she had out of everyone and anyone around here whose company she actually enjoyed. Not to mention that she’d feel extremely paranoid if she was left alone… bad things always happened whenever she was all by herself from what her intuition was telling her. She was terribly conflicted between not minding going their separate ways if they got out of this situation and wanting to have Skye at her side no matter what. What was she to do…? All of these tough decisions were making her head spin, and she unconsciously clutched Skye closer to her like a lost and frightened child hugging her teddy bear for comfort and security.
