Fate of the In-Between ((Open! Check It Out!))

Kacey's thought's were interupted by a buzzing somwhere near by. It took him only moments to realize that it was his phone vibrating softly on the wooden banaster of the balcony to his apartment... and slowly making it's way to the edge.

Kacey shot out of his chair to catch it and managed to grab it just as it began to tumble to it's demise.
Thank you God for fast reflexes

He set hid laptop on the small patio table, the place he should have set his phone, and looked to the small display screen thatwas flashing, telling him he had a message waiting. Fliping open the device and sifting through screens, and unknown number came up displaying the simple mesage "cheak your mail"

Kacey's brow ferrowed and a muffled "bing!" beside him turned his head.

"Too weird..."

Raven walked down the street, her multicolored hair flying out behind her. She pulled her purse strap up onto her shoulder, her dark eyes glancing over each person as they passed. She shook her head briefly before continuing on her way, pretty much wandering. Her cell phone was buzzing in her pocket, but she didn't pay any attention to it. Maybe it was the office finally giving her the boot. She didn't care, of course, but it would mean she'd have to find a new job.

With a carefree shrug of her shoulders, she tossed her hair over one shoulder and continued her brisk pace, wondering how life could get more boring. She didn't honestly think it was possible.

She had been walking for some time with a slowly growing feeling that she was being followed.
"Is your phone off or are you daft? came a voice behind her. It was nither the voice of a woman nor that of a man. Regardless when she turned to confront the voice, there was nothing that showed to be it's source.

Raven whorled to face thin air. She could have sworn she had heard someone. With an eyebrow raised, she took her phone slowly from her purse and clicked it on. She continued with her walk down the street, looking from side to side. Something wasn't right about the whole situation.

"Hello?"

Kaygen sat in the apartment that he and his site shared. He sat up. he was taking a moment to think. He sat on the couch with various empty food items and a small pike of magizine. he sighed. Where am i supposed to start?

Kylia walked into the apartment. She was immediately taken aback by the smell of old food. She rolled her eyes. she walked into the living and and looked at her brother. " Is this what you have been doing while I've been gone. sick...Get your a*@ up and clean up this mess. She tried to wave the fragrance away from her face as she walked over to a nearby window.

Kaygen sat up. "Hey sis. How was your trip..." He said getting up with a smile and starting to pick up. " Hey, don't come in here with all this aggression. Your the one that disappeared without telling me what you were doing?"

She gave him a sidelong glance as she continued to open windows. " We are partners, I am an adult, i do Not have to tell you where i am at all times."

" I know but it would help if we are ever going to find this guy"

Kylia kept quiet, for the last two days she had been out trying to think of all that she could remember from her memory of their target. All this did was make her want to find him more and not for any reason that her brother would approve of.

When she didn't get an answer, Raven pulled the phone from her ear, looking at the caller ID. It said 'Number Unknown' with several odd symbols below it. She gave it an odd look and put the earphone back up to her ear.

"Hello? If this is some damn prank call, I'm hanging up," she said angrily, her thumb already on the 'End' button. "Hello?"

There was a pause before the sexless voice came clear through the phone.

"Find him, for he is the Key to the salvation of your world. He has the mark You have the way."

Raven stared again at her phone, and laughed, albiet a bit nervously. She shook her head and hung up, thrusting the object into her pocket. She shrugged again, and decided to go into work for once, just for a change of pace.

The door made a whooshing sound as it closed behind her. She waved to the receptionist, a woman by the name of Kelisa, and made her way up two flights of stairs before coming to her little office. It was a mess, like usual, with papers on the floor and shoved in random drawers. It didn't matter.

"God, this job is boring," she muttered, putting her feet up on her desk. She'd wait for her first report -she wasn't about to pick up any of the old ones and finish those- by drinking stale coffee and closing her eyes.

Kayce's mind wherled as he rode toward the town in the lightly packed bus. In a couple of months he would have enough money to get his car out of the shop, though part of him liked the bus and the people and the chance to let his mind wonder.

The mysterious e-mail roused questions with out answers in his head. Who was this person and how did they know him...

... how did they know about the mark??

That had happened a while ago, but he hadn't told anyone about it. he thought at first it would just go away, but it didn't, He whent to see the docktor and they laughed at his story, but he was told it looked like nothing more than a tattoo.

Like even a stupid drunk would get his toung tattooed... like Kayce was stupid OR a drunk.

Then there was the other secret. How did this person know about what he really was?

The sqweel of the bus' brakes brought kayce away from his thoughts. With a sigh he grabbed his backpack and steepped out onto the street of tightly packed stores and meeting places. Across the street and nessled inbetween a book store and an offace building was the SilverLine Salon. kayce's other home. THe sight of the place brought a smile to his face and he made his way to the door.

she stood there watching as he made his way across the street. He WAS the one, she could tell. She remebered him. and well.

"Kayce." she said in a whisper.

As if on que, he looked up at her. The smile crept into her eyes as they made contact with his.

I'm here for you, Kayce...

He looked at the strangely beautiful woman a moment. The echos of his name slipping from his mind. No had said anything... had they? Did she? She had sucha soft comforting smile.

Who is...

Then, just as he had really begun to see her, she was gone. Kayce shook his head and blinked. A car honked as it speed past him and he jumped out of the street. He took one more looke around the street for places the woman could be and saw no signs. With a sigh he headed to the door of the salon.

"Morning, Lia."

"Morning, Kayc... what's up?"

"Oh... uh..." he took another look where the girl had been standing just outside the building, "Nothing, just... not as awake as I thought I guess."

"If you say so. You need some tea? Coffie would work better, but I know how YOU are..."

Kayce smiled, "I'm alright for now. first apointment?"

"You have twenty minuets. better get ready, it's Eliza, you know she's always early."

"Just the way I like her."
