! HIRING ! -- colorists -- open until Dec 1!

[Matope]

In the wake of a renewed activity, we're hoping to pick up a few more members of our staff to keep up with the demand for kin and to make this community a fun place to play!

At this time, we're opening applications for a colorist or two, depending on what we see in the apps -- however, there is no guarantee we'll hire this time around.

All colorists hired from this thread will start as Guest Colorists, with the possibility to become full time later. This means they will make very simple Kimeti for flatsales or do very simple breedings. All Guest Colorist work must be approved before it is sent out, and Guest Colorists cannot do official edited work. Sometimes, Guest Colorists might be asked to contribute to major thread events, submitting on-theme pets for contests, raffles, dice games, or freebies. They will receive all profits for their work, as well as staff credits that can be applied toward free pets/kin.

In the following posts, we will offer tools necessary for applying to join our team.

Hiring will be open until December 1st, but we'll be hiring on a rolling basis, as applicants seem appropriate!

Colorist Hiring

For the purpose of hiring, we're offering up three templates for you to play with: The Buck, the Filly, and the Moth. Click their images below to download them for use:

These templates are very different from what most b/c artists are used to: they do not merely use shading and multiply layers. Instead, layers must be recolored by hand and markings applied either with masks or the eraser tool. As such, we strongly suggest you have either photoshop though paint shop pro or the GIMP may work as well.

It is important that you pick colors by hand and use our method.

It is impossible to get breedings to look right using the classic B/C templated multiply layers method, so you must play with layer masks to be a colorist at Matope!

In order to apply, you must take the templates above, and make at least three samples, minimum two of which should be kin.

In addition, if you're interested in being able to do breedings, we request that you pick one of the pairings below and create at least two offspring, combining traits from the parents:

Other shops where you work: Currently just D:AAP. Artwise it's a very light load (especially as the shop is sort of in semi-hiatus)
Other related experience: I've been coloring in the B/C on and off for almost a decade now. I've worked at the majority of the DRoP shops that have come and gone over the past five years and I was one of the original colorists for Meardhon when they first opened. I've also done freelance work for Dragonbraved, and host my own pop-up gram shop on occasion (aka: when I feel like it) called Frolic. This is my first time working with pixels but I'm used to using layer masks. I actually learned from and improved my art skills in other shops by watching Matope artists stream.

Other shops where you work: I currently don't work anywhere at the moment! I colored at a few shops (literal) years ago, and they're pretty old and non-applicable anymore.

Small announcement --

We've hired two GUEST COLORISTS who will be taking some unedited requests from the CC threads this month and in the future!

Araucana will be doing unedited semi-customs from the CC semi-custom thread.
Baneful will be doing unedited breedings from the CC breeding thread.

Congrats to our newest staff members and I look forward to seeing all they do!!
