CHILDHOOD I was raised by me Mum after my Dad walked out on us when I was three when she was just barely in her twenties. She did the best she could with me but I didn't exactly make it easy for the old girl. Not that I was bad just...a tad wild. I'd disappear for hours during the day nearly scare her socks off just to come back dirty with odd and random things in my pockets. Or my hands. Or my hair. So, yadda yadda yadda the joys of boyhood and now on to the good stuff! I got a letter accepting me to this magic school in Britain totally throwing me and my Mum through a loop but equally exited and terrified me. Who did I know in the wizarding world? Nobody! But, I still decided to give it a shot.

SCHOOL YEARS

I went to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was placed into Hufflepuff by a barmy old hat. So here I was lost and alone in a huge magic school and had just found myself stranded outside to see an older boy flying on an honest to goodness broomstick. It was mesmerizing to tell ya the truth, seeing someone effortlessly control their broom like he did and I found myself wanting to be closer to the mysterious guy. I probably should have gone about in less stalkerish ways but it caught his attention, which was what I both wanted and feared. What if he didn't want anything to do with me? Luckily, Aedan was nice and I didn't have to beg him nearly as much as I thought for him to teach me to ride and play Quidditch like he did. Besides him I also met a halfblood (weirdwordsthesewizardscomeupwith), a rather high strung girl named Amata and we soon became thick as thieves. Next year came and I tried out for the team and actually got a spot as Keeper thanks to him and managed to keep afloat in all my classes as well. But, of course since he was a bit older, he graduated and left my as Captain. I'll admit it I was a bit emotional when he graduated but I made sure to keep in contact with him. I didn't want him to think I forgot him or anything! Years went by, quidditch was played, knowledge was learned, yadda yadda yadda, and soon it was my sixth year. I walking along Diagon Alley buying myself some of these awesome wizarding sweets when I ran into Aedan. And hot damn he had gotten fine! We went to lunch and it was like being back in the common room with him trying to explain why I would need to change a napkin into a lamp. We kept meeting over the next few weeks and by the time I was back on the Hogwarts Express I had myself a boyfriend.

POST GRADUATION Two years went by in blissful happiness before I actually moved in with him and soon we were even engaged then married. Who'd have thought that stalking actually works?! We lived for while together in London before Aedan got the bad news about his older brother getting attacked and dying by a werewolf. After little persuasion we sold the home and moved to Ireland to be near his sister-in-law and the kids. Each of them was going through grief at different times so we made sure to divide our time equally between them all. For Jar it took a while for him to realize his Da wasn't coming back but I'd like to think he's doing better now because of us. Pru of course cried for a while but we patched her up right as rain. Jar was broken up for a bit but he finally came around as well. For a while just looking after them was enough but then Aedan started getting the idea of getting a tyke of our own. I was a bit apprehensive (scared out my ruddy wily mind!) but he talked me into it so we went to the orphanage to...well there's no good words to express looking at little kids and picking one out to actually adopt! As awkward as I was about the whole thing, I soon and very quickly fell in love with three little ones, Kenny, Rhys, and Caty. All magical which was quite a surprise! We adopted them and soon said our goodbyes to Kenny as he went off to Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin. He may have tried to hide it but I could tell in his letter that he was afraid that his sorting would disappoint his Da and I since we were both Hufflepuffs. A well decorated care package soon soothed any ill feelings, I was just happy he was happy. Just a few years after Kenny started school, Aedan's business took off over night and he was suddenly swamped with orders for his broom which left very little time for the fam. But I was supportive, I knew how long and hard he had worked for this so I chose to over look or explain away his absences from the family. Which worked for a while. But then they got more pronounced until I couldn't even truly answer when the last time I saw him was. I want to say the last straw was the wedding between Westley's son and his long time girlfriend, in which he of course did not show up, but I'd be lying if I didn't think the straw had been broken pretty early on. It was lit aflame when Kenny left the house, not running away like he had before but actually moving out because he couldn't stand to live under the same roof. I was heartbroken and I had thought I had gotten through to him when I saw how he was finally interacted with Rhys and Caty. But I was wrong. When my little Rhys finally went off and was sorted into Ravenclaw (huuuuge surprise, notreally) it was even more obvious how much he was away and how much he was barely trying to fix our strained family. Finally I couldn't take it any longer and slid divorce papers I had gathered months ago underneath the door of his workshop and had been surprised by seeing them filled out on my bed the next morning. I really don't know which is worse: the fact that he didn't even face me, or the fact that he willingly gave up his children without a fight.

After the divorce I was rather low for a while. Not like, suicidal low but I wasn't looking after myself as well as I probably should've. Especially after that huge blowup between me and Rhys when he heard about the divorce. Just when I thought I was getting my family on the mend I found out that my Caty-Kat had been self harming and having these wild mood swings. We finally had a break through, with her and as a family I believe even adding in all the craziness with Jojo being kidnapped and Kenny being bitten and turned into a werewolf. But finally, finally I think I'm in a good place. Then I met Nirav and my god was he beautiful. Inside and out as it seems. I'm rather surprised he still wanted to continue our relationship after hearing everything but it's more of a relieved thankful surprised than an ungrateful one. Did I mention he was adorable?

■ ENERGETIC It takes a lot to make Caty stand still. She's constantly moving, jumping, fidgeting or creating mock sword fights with her friends. Or real sword fights if steel were available.
■ PERSUASIVE From an early age she found out that being the youngest of the family, especially the youngest girl, came with some very special perks. One being that if she pouted enough or made the right sized teary eye she would get what she wanted. Now that she's older the pouting is still the same but the teary eye had evolved more into a "logical" debate that would result in what she wanted.
■ TENACIOUS Once she's had her mind set upon something she will do her everything to ensure it comes into fruition. Using whatever means necessary. This also means that whatever thought or opinion that she's gathered onto she will not relinquish without a fight; figurative or literal she has no problem with either.
■ PRAGMATIC While she does enjoy a friendly spar now and then, Caty would rather handle issues with a sensible and cool head rather than go charging blindly into battle. She's also very practical and tries to plan ahead so that even if she ends up losing she'll gain something from it.

CHILDHOOD I was born to a mom I don't remember and had been at Wool's orphanage ever since. There weren't a lot of people to hang out with since everyone was either much older than me or much younger so I mainly stuck to myself which got boring after awhile. When I was around three years old my dads came and adopted me and my older brothers Kenny and Rhys making us one big family. I also gained some aunts and a lot of cousins, my favorite being Pru though I make sure not to tell the others. A few years ago my Aunt Siobhan remarried a man named Wesley Edgeworth and she and my cousins went and moved into his huge estate which was really nice for them but kinda sad because I couldn't hang around them as much. Not that I really could since they were much older than me and were already heading to Hogwarts, but still! It was shortly after that that my Dad Aedan started distancing himself from the family. He works as a broomstick inventor and one of them blew up rather spectacularly (in a good way!) and he started working longer and longer hours to keep up with production. I understood, really, but it stopped being small stuff like being late to dinner or staying in the barn until after midnight and snowballed into huger and huger stuff. Like missing Siobhan's wedding. And barely coming out for Christmas. It got so bad that my oldest brother left home to stay with our aunt and my second oldest just stopped talking. He'd always been quiet and prone to silence but now it was much different. Finally, my Da couldn't take it any longer and filed for divorce and on the day that my other Dad was supposed to come to court and fight for custody agreements....he didn't. He just...didn't.
So now I'm heading to Hogwarts excited because I'd been waiting for forever and a day for this to happen but I'm sad and worried because my Da will be alone for the first time in a long time. I know he'll have Siobhan and Kenny and everyone but I still worry about him. He just looks so sad.

SCHOOL YEARS

FIRST YEAR First year was spectacular! I made so many new friends and I even got sorted into the house I wanted: Slytherin! I mean I know I could've easily gone into Hufflepuff or even Gryffindor but Slytherin was my real mission. The only sour part of the year was Rhys and his...anger issues. He said some really mean and hurtful things to me during the year and..maybe it's better I just stay out of his way from now on.
SECOND YEAR Me and Rhys made up during the summer and even though I still sorta stay away from him, I do it to respect his privacy more than being afraid of him. Well that and I still don't want anyone to discover my little habit. It's actually not getting so little anymore and I'm a bit worried but I still don't want to stop. I don't really know if I can.
THIRD YEAR Was a bit topsy turvy. I kept having those weird mood swings only I don't think I hid them quite as well as I did at home. My stress reliever also isn't working like it used to so I'm trying different ones.
FOURTH YEAR My mood swings got worse, way way worse, so worse that I practically killed Ada! Ok so not really but still, I had one of them while I was with her in a hallway one night and then poof! She was gone and we were stuck with a weird substitute the rest of the year. Also my da found out about my coping mechanism, I don't really know how since I really doubt Leon would go snitching to an adult, but I'm so not looking forward to one of his "talks"
FIFTH YEAR I've decided to make a few changes about myself, especially since going to therapy regularly instead of running away like I used to. I dyed my hair and started dressing in this style I found online called "pastel punk" which I rather liked. I've also apologized to all my friends who I felt like I'd either ignored or hurt during the years I was dealing with my own issues and I think I'm finally starting to feel a little normal. I still have my moodswings and all but Mr. Niall has me on a regime that I think is actually working.
SIXTH YEAR Was pretty normal. which is great for me! My moodswings barely happened at all and when they did I began those breathing exercises and did my other stress relievers that Mr. Niall told me to do. And it actually worked, I can't believe how, uh, crazy I'd been acting the past few years. Plus the extra boost of sanity gave me an extra boost in the confidence department to finally go after Finn.
SEVENTH YEAR Again, not much happened, which was great because goodness knows I needed all the time to study for my tests. And figure out a place where the renting people don't mind allot of fire...

POST GRADUATION I'm still staying with my Da, aunt and uncle until Finn is done with school so we could move in together so it's almost like before I started Hogwarts. I've found a small place for a great price to start welding together my different projects and I'm saving up to rent a cart in Diagon to sell my wares. Maybe in the future I'll have enough to have an actual shop!

xxx»» Initially being brought up in a stuffy, pureblooded household, and subsequently being abandoned and tortured by the members of said household, left Jojo feeling very strongly about the ideas she'd been raised on up to that point. Namely, she thinks they're garbage. Partially out of rebellion and partially because she believes it's important to be a decent human being, she is exceptionally open-minded and accepting of other people, regardless of anything about them. The only thing she can't accept in a person is if they are particularly awful, or outright evil.

xxx»» Due to the trauma in her past, in spite of her best efforts, Jojo isn't entirely over all of her issues. She does still have issues with anxiety, often imagining the worst when something bad happens. She will jump to negative conclusions about a situation fairly quickly, and can be difficult to talk down from these moods. For the most part, she can keep it under control herself, but when it's particularly bad, only certain people have the ability to calm her down.

AFFECTIONATE
xxx»» Jojo greatly values everyone in her life. She personally feels like, with everything she's been through, she's a complete and utter mess most of the time. She knows she's better now than before, but she was still pretty bad before, and feels incredibly lucky to have people in her life who were willing to stick with her during that time. As a result, in spite of certain snarky comments and relentless teasing, she tries to make sure that every one of her friends knows how much she cares about them and how important they are to her.

xxx»» Of all the mistakes Lysandar Tempest made with his granddaughter, perhaps the biggest one was nurturing her sharp mind. He valued intelligence over all else, and wouldn't have ever stood for Persephone to be a dullard. She was naturally a bright girl, but as Jojo, her intellect had been hampered by self-doubt. Persephone lacked this barrier, and her natural gifts flourished under the tutelage of her grandfather. Of course, his need for her to be bright bit him in the arse when she used her brain to realize that things weren't quire right with the life she lived. Her natural curiosity and observational skills proved troublesome for him. But, now that she's free and fully aware of the truth of things, she is at least pleased that she benefited from things in some way.

STUBBORN
xxx»» Constantly being told that you're not real and don't exist can have rather damaging effects on a girl's psyche. Particularly when that girl's psyche is in fact split down the middle, and one half knows for a fact that it is, in fact, not quite real. Understanding the truth of how she came to be made Persephone feel constantly attacked. Every little thing seemed to be a reminder that she was a figment invented by a madman, no matter how real she might feel. Rather than letting herself be bullied back into non-existence, she dug her heels in and refused to budge. CHILDHOOD
xxx»» Johanna, given the name Persephone at birth, was the first and only child born to Antony Devon Tempest. His wife, Evelyn, died giving birth to her. Upon her birth, her great-grandfather Edgar, the head of the Tempest family, was angered to learn that she was a girl, believing this to be a second failure in the family to produce a proper heir (the first being her father's cousin Avis, who is a squib), but her grandfather Lysandar decided that he would make the best of a bad situation. From the time she was three, he was teaching her how to be a proper, noble woman. Her father was greatly disturbed by the interest Lysandar had taken in his daughter, due to the fact that the man had abused him as a child. But, her grandfather doted on her, only ever harming her once, as a punishment for 'being very bad.' Johanna can't remember what she did to invoke this punishment, but learned the lesson well. Growing up, Johanna found herself in a very odd spot in her family. She wanted to please her grandfather and great-grandparents, but she also looked up to her father and loved her cousin Ava very much. Her father's distaste for his family and the family's hatred of Ava confused her, so she spent a lot of time trying to sort out how she felt about things like blood purity and lineages and nobility.

xxx»» Her understanding was finally clear when, just before she was to begin school, her grandfather went insane and attacked her cousin Ava. She doesn't remember much of what happened, only hearing shouts and screams, followed by her father bursting in on her with Ava close behind, and then being Apparated away. The three of them went to stay with a friend of her father's named Annabelle, who Johanna had never met before. Their lives changed drastically as, following the scandal and the additional discovery of her father's homosexuality, everyone but her Aunt Callidora was disowned, written out of her great-grandfather's will, and barred from the family estate. Things were difficult for a time, adjusting to the changes, but she generally felt that she, her father, and her cousin grew closer as a result. Freed from the influence of her more toxic family members, she began developing a much more accepting outlook on life.

xxx»» Her understanding was finally clear when, at the age of ten, just preparing to enter her schooling at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, her grandfather very suddenly came to her room one night and took her away. Confused and afraid, she begged him to tell her what had happened, because something was clearly very wrong. Reluctantly, he informed her that her Uncle Nikolas, his wife Camila, and her beloved cousin Ava had all plotted together to kill her and her father. They were resentful, Lysandar told her, because they believed that, as a male, Ava should have been looked to as heir before Persephone. She was devastated to learn that her grandfather had been too late to save her father; they had succeeded in murdering him. Lysandar told her that he had killed her uncle and aunt in an attempt to save Antony, but Avis had escaped. Fearing both for his granddaughter's life and that he would be blamed for all three murders and left unable to protect her, he had taken her away, and into hiding, in case her cousin had a mind to finish what his parents had started. The child's perception of her family was shattered, and she vowed that she would always trust her grandfather and do as he said.


SCHOOL YEARS

FIRST YEAR »» Johanna's first year of school was reasonably uneventful, save for the great surprise of her being sorted into Hufflepuff. She felt very out of place her first few weeks of school, but slowly grew more used to her house and its reputation. She eventually realized that perhaps it was a blessing to be sorted into the house of badgers, because she knows she made at least one friend, something she isn't sure would have happened had she been in any other house.
SECOND YEAR »» The Summer before Johanna's second year was the stuff of nightmares; her family had been found by her grandfather, who was intent on killing them all. But, he found when he went to kill Johanna that he didn't have the stomach for it. Angered by his weakness, he proceeded to torture her for days before a chance message from her father's employer led to her rescue at the hands of the very dashing Auror Darcy Bennett. However, she couldn't seem to relax or feel safe until she returned to Hogwarts. The school year was blessedly uneventful, aside from the Yule Ball, which Johanna attended with her best friend Emily, though she ended up 'ditching' Emily early in the night so that the other girl could be free to dance with a boy in their year she had a crush on. Johanna also began exchanging letters with Mr. Bennett, who was even so kind as to send her a Christmas present, much to her delight.
THIRD YEAR »» This year marked a few changes for Johanna; first and foremost, she decided that she was done being mousy and quiet and meek, and decided to actively try to be more out-going. She started going by a new nickname, Jojo, because she decided that 'Seph' was too weird and 'Persephone' was too old-fashioned. She also had her first date, though it didn't go remotely how she expected. It turned out that the boy who'd asked her out, Jesse, was actually just trying to determine if he were into girls or not. Still, she supposed it could have gone worse.
FOURTH YEAR »» This was a particularly eventful year for Jojo, and not in a bad way like her second year had been. After leaving school, she went on a trip to Germany with her friend Emily, along with three others. She spent much of the trip feeling like a fifth wheel, given that the other four all were apparently paired off with one another romantically, but nonetheless had fun. Upon returning to England, she met Kenneth Lowery on and outing to get an owl for herself, who she would continually run into over the course of the year, until eventually, he asked her on a date. In spite of her nearly cancelling and having a panic attack, it went well, and they began dating. The rest of the year was mostly a constant internal struggle for her, finding herself having anxiety attacks over seemingly inconsequential things, and teaching herself to pull back and calm down. She was, by the end of the year, much more successful at doing so than when it began, and is quite proud of her progress.
FIFTH YEAR »» Jojo was somewhat optimistic when she left school to return home at the end of her fourth year, but her optimism was short-lived. As the students made their way to the train, a group of dark wizards who fancied themselves the successors to the Death Eaters of the wizarding wars attacked Hogsmeade Village. Before Jojo could really react, her boyfriend apparated both herself and his cousin Prudence to Platform 9 and 3/4 to get them to safety, and promptly disappeared. When he returned moments later, with a couple of younger students in tow, she realized he was attempting to save some of the students who lacked the knowledge to protect themselves. Worrying for his safety sent her into a panic attack, and she passed out. After the danger had passed and she knew he was safe, she became ashamed of herself for her response. Certain that he'd realized she was more trouble than she was worth and would break up with her, she began avoiding him. Eventually, Kenny tracked her down, afraid she'd been considering doing the same because he'd abandoned her at the platform. During their attempt to work through the issue, Jojo confessed to him everything that had happened to her at the hands of her grandfather, in an effort to make him understand why she was so broken. To her surprise, he didn't break up with her, and instead said that it was his job to take care of her when she had problems. Her issues persisted, but she was comforted by the fact that someone cared about her enough to stick around, even knowing about everything. When she returned to school, she attempted to focus her efforts on studying for her exams, though admittedly she didn't focus nearly as hard as some people (Jesse and Elliott, for instance).
SIXTH YEAR »» Jojo didn't quite know when she made the decision to become an animagus; it had happened some time between taking her exams and getting the results. She decided that she needed something to prove to herself that, if she really focused her attention on something and fought for it, she could accomplish any goal she set for herself. Animagus transformations, being an incredibly difficult branch of magic, appealed to her for a good many reasons, the difficulty of the accomplishment being only one. The majority of her sixth year was spent fighting with her own insecurities and trying to convince herself that she could succeed. She had a very hard time convincing herself, though, until her seventeenth birthday. To celebrate, she elected to skip the Valentine's Ball being hosted by the school, and instead met Kenny in Hogsmeade for a date. An incident the previous Summer had her feeling especially insecure concerning their relationship, which had been a large part of why she was having so much trouble with her self-confidence as a whole. However, the date took an unexpected turn, and at the end, she was left feeling much more confident, both in the relationship, and herself. With the newfound confidence, she found she stumbled less than before, and at the end of the year, successfully became an animagus. The discovery of her animagus form seemed particularly appropriate, as she had felt a kinship with the transformation process butterflies underwent in their lifetimes for a while. To celebrate her newfound self and leave her past truly behind her, she and her father had her name legally changed from Persephone Johanna Tempest to Johanna Eilir Tempest.

xxx»» Lysandar was unable to risk allowing his granddaughter to attend school. He risked her safety long enough to take her to Ollivander's to get her wand, and then, they vanished. Persephone was taught magical theory by her grandfather, but never allowed to properly practice magic. Paranoid to the extreme, he was fearful that, should the Ministry find them because she had used magic outside of the school grounds of Hogwarts, he would be found guilty of the murders of the other members of the family, and she would be taken away from him. Eventually, he moved them to a secure location, an old holding in the family name that was unknown to anyone alive, except himself and his father. Many spells for protection and secrecy were woven over the property, and here he was finally able to teach Persephone magic. She was quick to learn, and eager to please. She was taught a good many things, including powerful dark arts, which Lysandar informed her she would need to know to protect herself, and to follow in his footsteps, which was her only ambition. She didn't quite understand, but grew to accept him, remembering her vow to always trust his judgement.

xxx»» Upon Persephone's seventeenth birthday, when the Trace broke, Lysandar took her from their sanctuary for the first time since they had come there. Moving through the shadows, he finally shared his secrets with her, telling her the truth of what he did when he left her alone and why. Her grandfather, she learned, had taken it upon himself to try and help 'right the world.' The corruption he had seen in his own family scared him, and he had realized that following the written law and acting as society allowed was not helping anything, and was actually allowing the world to become sick, a place where the innocent were harmed by the actions of the deranged and entitled. People like her uncle, aunt, and cousin, he told her. It took some time, but she began to understand that he was right; Lysandar was a powerful wizard, he couldn't simply stand back and not take action, and he wanted for her to be strong as well. The fight, he said, would not be over by the time he died, and he needed to know she would be safe when he was gone. The pair took up with a young witch named Rui, a dangerous woman, Persephone was warned, but a useful one. She had informed Lysandar that she wanted chaos, to watch the world burn. While chaos was not his objective, the world burning was certainly something that would benefit it, as it needed to be cleansed so it could grow new and fresh and pure. Persephone promised her grandfather that, in spite of her reservations, she would do as he asked, always, because she knew that his intentions were good, regardless of his actions. She reasoned that the end would justify the means, and trusted him completely.


xxx»» It was eventually determined that Persephone was old and skilled enough to accompany her grandfather on outings to 'recruit' for Rui. She would go out, in disguise, with her grandfather, and observe from a distance as he tried to entice young witches and wizards to take up 'the cause'. On one such evening, Lysandar left her to wait in an alley, as he had 'business' to attend to that she shouldn't be privy to. Persephone waited dutifully, until she was approached by a young man. He claimed to know her, but called her by the wrong name, referring to her as Jojo. Something about him disturbed her. For some time she had been noticing and subsequently ignoring odd little inconsistencies in her own life. For one, she had a tattoo and a piercing, neither of which she remembered getting, and which her grandfather certainly wouldn't have allowed. A tattoo that the young man knew about, which he claimed to have given her. She denied it at the time, but his words only deepened the cracks. He'd seemed familiar. He'd known about her tattoo. But, she convinced herself that he was lying, somehow.
xxx»» She found herself questioning everything. When her grandfather returned to the keep one night with a boy, a redhead he called Pancras, that same odd familiarity hit her. She avoided the boy as much as she could, though her grandfather tried to push her at him at every opportunity. She rather got the feeling that he was trying to set them up, in fact. But, she was too put off by the sense that she knew him to ever go for it.
xxx»» Technically speaking, she supposed, she was right to be suspicious of him. One night, the keep was broken into, a feat she'd been told was impossible. Of course, its supposedly impenetrable nature relied on none but a select few being granted access, and access had been granted to the wrong person in this case. Pancras, it turned out, was a spy, sent in to find her by the young man from the alley. Once he'd earned some modicum of trust, he'd snuck the two of them, along with two Aurors, into the keep to 'rescue' her. She doesn't quite know what happened in the encounter; she was knocked out rather early on, and when she woke up, she wasn't quite herself.
xxx»» Elliott used his mind magic to help determine just how bad Jojo's state of mind was. He then painstakingly removed the charm Lysandar had used to hide away her true memories. But, too afraid of the consequences should he make a mistake, it was decided that he would leave the false memories as well, and that he, Kenny, and Jesse would work to help keep her straight on what was and wasn't real.
xxx»»It was a struggle for a long time. 'Persephone' didn't magically go away just because Jojo's memories were restored. She persisted, fighting Jojo tooth and nail, first trying to prove that Jojo's life was the lie, and eventually trying to prove that, even if she wasn't quite real, she shouldn't be forced to retreat. Jojo, for her part, resented Persephone's existence, and fought her on everything, even when it didn't really matter. Jojo did everything she could to suppress Persephone, covering herself with tattoos to prove her autonomy and drinking constantly to drown her out. The behavior became worrisome for the people who cared about her, and she was eventually forced to get sober and see a Mind Healer. Eventually, after a lot of exhausting compromises and long therapy sessions, the two came to something of an agreement. They behave more like sisters now, which is rather odd, given that the occupy the same mind and body. Slipping steadily closer to something approaching sane, they agreed to try and be more responsible, and not let their oddness hinder them. Moving out of their father's flat and in with Kenny was a decent first step, and getting a job seemed a logical follow up. She was hired on at Dominic Maestro's in Hogsmeade, taking advantage of a somewhat familial relationship (Kenny being a werewolf, and packmates with the owner's husband) to earn the job.
xxx»» Jojo adapted well enough to the working world. There were some struggles, but typically whenever she was having a hard time, all she had to do was recede and let Persephone handle things. The two worked out a system so that Jojo could relax more and worry less, knowing that if things really got bad enough, she had an easy out. Rather than relying on Persephone like a crutch, however, she felt more confident in herself, and was able to handle most situations without help. Settling into domesticity and having her own life, Jojo began to feel more and more like an actual person, and less like some mess of broken parts. Of course, she wasn't completely stable, and so when Kenny proposed, the prospect of a wedding very nearly put her off the idea entirely. But, they agreed to elope, despite the reaction they knew it would provoke from their families. Upon returning, Jojo at least let her father-in-law host a party for them, though she insisted there be no speeches, or any sort of big to-do about the marriage. Her one allowance in this regard was the cake, because she's never been able to resist Ciaran's baking. Meanwhile, Jesse and Elliott surprised her by adopting a child, which at first she thought was completely insane. But, she rather liked her new 'nephew,' and found herself using every excuse to see him. She'd always thought being around children would be nerve-wracking, but she actually quite enjoyed it.
xxx»» Eventually, Jojo began spending more and more time with Kenny at the orphanage to try and help out, feeling like she was accomplishing something by being there. While visiting, she became particularly attached to two sisters, Lillian and Abigail. Both girls were somewhat abrasive in their own way, and Jojo was able to recognize a coping mechanism when she saw one. Eventually she managed to discover that the older sister's acerbic personality was her way of trying to ensure that they weren't adopted or separated. Knowing that the only way the girls could relax and stop worrying about it was to be adopted together, she and Kenny decided to take the two girls in themselves, figuring that neither of them was really young enough to be a problem.
xxx»» Jojo's favorite thing about working at Dominic Maestro's was that, for the most part, Newlyn was not bothered if she wanted to make use of slow periods by practicing her musical talents on the various instruments for sale. It was during one such slow period she was noticed by Cici Quintana, head of a band that, in her words, specialized in 'angry chick rock,' which seemed right up Jojo's alley. Pressure from both Cici and Lil convinced Jojo to audition, and she was brought on as a drummer for the band, The Manic Pixie Dream Girl Myth. Eventually the band would see enough success that she could quit at the shop, and Cici could stop taking up odd jobs to make ends meet. Shortly thereafter, Jojo and Kenny adopted another child, this one a young boy named Reggie, who was bitten by a werewolf in a horrible accident. Not wanting the boy to go unadopted due to his condition, they decided to take him in themselves. He fits in quite well with their family, and Jojo had never felt so content.

xxx»» In her youth, Lil built a wall around herself that she defended mostly by being a bit of a jerk. As she got older, she realized that this wasn't exactly going to do her any favors. There was some level of rudeness you could be forgiven for, but not if you were an intern, doubly so if you were a girl. So she started to channel various members of her adoptive family and plastered a smile on her face, opting to catch her flies with honey rather than vinegar. That the honey was usually poisoned was beside the point. She has to admit, there's something pretty satisfying about a person walking away without realizing you're making fun of them.

VAIN
xxx»» Lil's always been a little full of herself. In her youth, it was, like most things, a defense mechanism. But eventually she realized that actually, she was in fact awesome, and never saw any reason to question that or let anyone else do so. She knows she's pretty, she knows she's smart (if not the smartest, at least smarter than people assume), she knows she's a hard worker and good at her job. If nobody else is going to appreciate her, she's going to damn well appreciate herself to pick up their slack. She can come across as full of herself and arrogant, but honestly she's so far gone that doesn't bother her, either. There are worse character flaws to have.

CREATIVE
xxx»» Lil may not be the smartest person, but her imagination more than makes up for it. She's always thinking outside the box, which is very handy when you go into a creative field such as fashion. It can be a pain, sometimes, to try and get other people to understand and support her vision, but it generally pays off for her. Everything she does is infinitely more complex than it appears on the surface, with whole characters and backstories already sitting in the back of her head for everything she puts to paper. Her showcases are often less fashion shows and more mini-plays with a catwalk and no talking.

INDEPENDENT
xxx»» For being something of a cynic, Lil does have faith in at least one thing, herself. She thinks she can accomplish anything if she just keeps at it. She figures that the only thing she's really got to rely on is herself; everything else is transient, and can be lost at any moment. Even the people she trusts not to abandon her could die, so it's best to know how to rely on herself. So she works hard to make sure that she never has to rely on anyone. She's willing to open up to her family and friends, but she never assumes they're going to be available, and makes sure she can handle things herself.

DECEPTIVE
xxx»» Lil holds her cards very close to the chest; but, if you'd only just met her, you'd never know that. She puts on a very good act of being someone who wears her heart on her sleeve, always speaks her mind, and never has anything lurking beneath the surface. In reality, she's always watching and observing the people around her, so she can determine how best to get what she wants from them. She doesn't tell lies that can be caught out, such as saying she was sick when she really went on a date, or that her grandmother died. But she certainly acts like whoever she thinks the person she's dealing with is most likely to be receptive to.

BOSSY
xxx»» When Lil wants something, she's damn well going to get it, and beware anyone who tries to get in her way. She can and will steamroll people who she sees as an obstacle, and then gloat silently when no one suspects there was any sort of foul play. She doesn't hesitate to make her opinions known, and tends to argue her case so thoroughly that she could eventually wear down any brick wall. If someone is put under her command, they better be up to snuff; she's made more than one person cry when they failed to meet her expectations.

xxx»» Lillian was the firstborn child to Robert and Vivian Cody, and was quite happy being an only child. Unfortunately for her, her parents had other plans. They had some trouble conceiving a second child, and Lil's younger brother was a full four years younger than her. Apparently, though, the universe saw fit to correct that mistake by gracing them with their third child, another daughter, only two years after that. Generally, Lil found her siblings more annoying than anything else. But, her pleas to sell them to the neighbors fell on deaf ears, so she was stuck with them.

TEEN YEARS
xxx»» Lil would later regret not appreciating her family; when she was twelve, her brother and parents were killed in a car accident, leaving her alone with her younger sister Abby. The two girls were bounced around from foster home to foster home, strange occurrences following them all the while, until it was discovered that Abby was a witch. The two girls were then placed in an orphanage specifically for magical children. Lil grew paranoid that the prospective parents would want her sister, but not her, because she wasn't magic at all. She would act out whenever new people came by, always sticking close to Abby to ensure they were viewed as a package deal.
xxx»» They never did get adopted by any of the visitors to the orphanage; instead, they ended up adopted by a pair of volunteers, one of whom had been a resident of Wool's himself as a child. Kenny and Jojo were barely old enough to adopt at all, let alone a kid Lil's age, but they didn't let that stop them. At first Lil didn't trust it, but eventually the couple grew on her, to the point that when she discovered Kenny was a werewolf, she barely even reacted. Somewhat more concerning was the state of Jojo's mental health, but she wasn't like, homicidal or anything, so Lil basically just acted like nothing had changed when she found out about that. She managed to make a lot of friends, all of whom somehow seemed to be magic or magic-adjacent, despite meeting many of them in Muggle areas of England. She supposed that she was just destined to be a magic-magnet, and accepted it, though that didn't stop her from making sarcastic quips every chance she got.

ADULTHOOD
xxx»» Lil made it through secondary school, and then Uni, where she got a degree in Fashion Design. She spent a few years interning under a reasonably well-respected designer in a well-known fashion house, before being properly discovered at a show. Later she'd lie and say it was an accident that she'd dropped her look book in front of the company's rep, but in reality she'd known based on their own showcase that her designs would be right at home. That it was a smaller company didn't bother her; their designs were good, and they were mostly small because they actually paid fair wages to their workers, which was a major bonus as far as Lil was concerned. Somewhere along the way, she managed to meet Galen, who she flirted outrageously with for a while before committing to a proper relationship a few not-dates in.

xxx»» Abby is a rather messy person in general; she frequently leaves her things lying about, couldn't keep a room tidy if you paid her a million pounds, and often forgets where she left things or spends ages looking for some scrap of paper or book she's lost. She's also quite careless in personality; she can be very impulsive and reckless, and tends to not think things through or consider repercussions. Abby is used to 'skating by' on life, and would much rather have a good time and not worry then overthink things or stress about the future.

xxx»» Abby is very kind; she's not always terribly polite or considerate, but she won't hesitate to help someone in need or offer her support to a friend who's feeling down. She does genuinely care about others, she just isn't always sure how to show it, and not being very emotional, it can often seem like she's a bit apathetic, when in fact she's just trying to put on a strong front. In general, Abby is a sweet girl with good intentions, although they can get a bit... muddled.

xxx»» Abby is practical almost to a fault; someone's leg could have just gotten chopped off and while everyone else was screaming or retching, she'd be going 'I'm guessing I should get some towels, huh?'. Abby doesn't consider herself a very clever person- although she's clearly not an idiot- but she has more sense than she's usually given credit for, given her very laid-back attitude, and you can always count on her in a pinch to pull her weight.

xxx»» Abby is not a particularly obnoxious or irritating person, but she does have a lot of energy and tends to make a lot of noise... wherever she goes. She has a lot of energy, even if she's not very high-strung, and really isn't one for sitting around. Her general mood in school was that of 'I can't wait to get out of here' and she's terrible at putting on a serious face, especially since so many things amuse her.

xxx»» Abby is not the most perceptive or aware person, and while not overly idealistic or innocent, does tend to catch onto things a bit late. This causes some to assume she's rather ditzy and shallow, but in reality she's just a bit slow on the uptake, and takes a while to process information. She's also absolutely terrible at reading a room and frequently blunders her way into situations because of it. Luckily, she usually manages to worm her way out of trouble, or at least play dumb so as not to arouse further ire.

CHILDHOOD
xxx»» Abby was born as the youngest child of three. She grew up in a loving, happy home with two parents, and an older sister and brother whom she was quite content to harass and follow around, being six years younger than her sister Lillian and two years younger than her brother Jackson. She knew Lil mostly considered her an annoying pest, given their large age gap, but she and Jackie, as she called him, were as close as a brother and sister two years apart could probably be. Abby got along well with both her parents and was used to being spoiled and coddled a bit, since she was the 'baby' of the family.

Unfortunately, Abby did not have very long to get to know her family, because when she was six her parents and brother died in a car accident, leaving Abby and Lil completely alone in the world. Abby went into a state of shock and denial after she received news of the deaths and for the next year tried to keep her brother's spirit alive in her head as a sort of imaginary friend whom she could confide in when she was upset or feeling down. Now that she is older she only talks to him when very shaken and nervous.

Abby and Lil had never been really close beforehand, but they had no choice when they were all each other had left, and while Abby resented her sister's overprotective, paranoid behavior getting them in constant trouble, she also blamed herself, because ever since the accident very odd things seemed to happen around her, and she couldn't help but feel that what had happened to her family was either something she could have somehow prevented or her fault. This seemed confirmed when she was informed that she was 'gifted' or 'special' and she and Lil were sent to an orphanage to stay for the time being, rather than yet another foster home. She found Wool's better than many of the foster homes they'd been in, but she couldn't shake the feeling that at any moment she was going to be sent away due to her 'specialness'.

When Abby was nine she and her sister were adopted by a young magical couple named Kenny and Jojo, who were close with the orphanage owners. Abby really had no idea why they'd taken a liking to her and her sister, but was more accepting of the idea of it than Lil. At least she finally had her own room. She was not surprised when she received her Hogwarts letter, since her adoptive parents had explained it all to her, and despite her reluctance to be sent away to some boarding school, she was a bit excited.

SCHOOL YEARS

FIRST YEAR »» Abby started Hogwarts and was sorted into Hufflepuff, which wasn't that surprising, given what Kenny and Jojo had told her about the houses. While she did miss her sister terribly, she was also excited to be in a new place with new people, and found most of her classes and professors very interesting. The castle itself was also incredible, and she resolved to explore every inch of it before graduation.
SECOND YEAR »» Abby was less homesick the second time around, and spent less time on her schoolwork and more time sneaking around or outside, collecting rocks by the lake.
THIRD YEAR »» Abby spent way too much time stuffing her face in Hogsmeade during her third year, although she also enjoyed her classes more since she'd gotten to choose some of them, finally.
FOURTH YEAR »» Abby began to realize that she was potentially asexual, and confided this in her best friend, Lena, who promised to support her no matter what. Jojo and Kenny also adopted a third child, Reggie, who apparently had the same 'furry problem' as her adoptive father.
FIFTH YEAR »» Abby started off her fifth year very shocked to have been named prefect. On the one hand, she was going to enjoy the fancy-arse bathroom. On the other hand, patrols and detention-giving, ugh. Still, she was pleased her friend Parker had been named her co-prefect, and resolved to make the best of her new position.
SIXTH YEAR »» The summer before Abby's sixth year Parker's missing-presumed dead father unleashed a horde of magical creatures on London and then disappeared again, so that was pretty interesting.
SEVENTH YEAR »» Abby had been dreading seventh year for her entire time at Hogwarts, not just because of the exams but because she knew she'd hate to leave the school behind. Still, she muddled through, and finished out her education feeling quite proud of herself and her accomplishments.

Gideon was born near Cardiff, Wales. He was a super happy kid with all the potential in the world, the best parents, a wonderful family... but a few months after his third birthday, everything changed. He was on a car ride with his Auntie Cinwyd, but there was a terrible car crash, resulting in Cinwyd dead and Gideon barely hanging on. With several surgeries and years of physical therapy, Gid learned to walk with crutches, thus regaining what little independence he could have. As he got older, he got better at walking and thus allowed himself to make friends... or what few he could. He was bullied all through primary school, and only found reprieve when he started at a place called Hogwarts.

In school he made lots of friends, joined clubs, and was even able to join a sports team! Not even as the manager! An actual player! It was literally a magical world! In his second year, after studying to learn sign language, one of his best friends decided to stop talking to him, thus sending Gid into upset. Luckily, his other friends were there to support him. As the year went on, Gid and Rhys made friends again, and they carried on. Third year was a pretty calm year... except that masquerade dance where Jazzy kissed Gid.... Fourth year led to the dating of Gid and Jazzy, thus boosting Gid's confidence to a high. After the summer of fifth year, a year that promised so much with his new titles of Vice Captain and Prefect was a huge letdown. Rhys decided (again) that he wasn't going to talk to Gid, and Jazzy seemed completely disinterested, thus dropping Gid's self-esteem into the loo. Shortly after taking Rhys' Transfiguration notes and trying to hide, Gid and Rhys got in a fight that ended with the two expressing their affection. Though for Gideon, Rhys had been in a panic attack and had not heard any of it. Gid went to his room to de-stress, then broke up with Jazzy, though she hadn't been upset. A week later, the boys made up and decided to start dating. All through sixth year, he worked his tail to the bone to be there for all his friends, teammates, and classes, which proved easier than expected. His back hurt like hell with no reason, until he got knocked a concussion in Quidditch and Rhys secretly had him examined. Unfortunately, that meant that his mum dragged him to the doctor when he returned, only to find out he'd need another surgery on his spine. That thought in mind, Gid firmly decided he wasn't going to tell a soul, and managed to hide it, however thinly, from his friends.

During Seventh Year, Gid found it harder and harder to hid his previous surgery, though he'd valliently attempted it. He hid his pain with muggle painkillers and lied to avoid his pain. Unfortunately, stress and pain don't make for a good combination, and over Christmas break at Hogwarts he overdosed on his medication (on accident, of course). He was discovered by Kyson and Contessa, a struggle ensued in their attempts to drag him to the hospital wing, but luckily two conscious people tend to be quite a bit smarter than one very intoxicated Gideon. Once settled into a bed the truth broke out, and Gid could feel naught but shame.

As soon as he graduated, Gid was sent back to the hospital for a correctional surgery. Luckily, the way he messed up his back allowed them to fix it a bit easier. After a few months, he applied for a job at a law firm and was accepted. With a job secured, he got a nice two bedroom townhouse for himself and Rhys. One room was set up as Rhys' workshop, allowing him to pursue his work as well. A year or so into their adulthood, Gid proposed to Rhys with all the awkward flair he had, and somehow got an acceptance. Now he's nearly completed his internship at work, and is doing his best to plan a wedding in his free time. Gideon and Rhys married on a beautiful summer afternoon surrounded by family and friends. (Okay, maybe not surrounded, but there were still a fair few people there) They decided to keep their last names, but Gideon is happy to have finally married his best friend and love. Sadly, a while later, Gideon had to put to sleep Scoots, the dog he had had since she was born. It hurt his heart, but he was glad she wasn't in pain.

EARLY CHILDHOOD Reggie has a sad beginning. He never got to meet his muggle mom she died when he was born. His magic dad tried to raise his son. Many years he tried, but the stress led him to drink. In his drunkenness, he was abusive to Reggie but would always regret it when sober. This downward spiral continued till Reggie was 6.

Reggie was never sure how the Aurors found out about daddy when he drank the stinky stuff. He was quiet and a good boy like daddy said. Though daddy was kinda loud last time and they lived in a neighborhood with lots of houses. Soon he was off to live at a new home but daddy didn’t come with. Maybe it won't be as loud there...

About a year after arriving Reggie, not fully understanding that he was not going to see his daddy tried sneaking out to go meet him again. As expected he got terribly lost. He encountered David as a wolf on a full moon night and got bitten. He was saved by a Wool's volunteer, Jer, and brought back to the orphanage where Reggie made a 'clean' break from his dad. Wolves and the dark were too high a price.

Recently he was adopted by the adult that taught him how to be a good werewolf. Now he is happy to have a daddy and mommy that loves him. He was sad he was a year behind one of his best friends Eion but when Reggie got his hogwarts letter he was ready to go!

Despite socialization and making friends, Simon rarely speaks aloud to anyone. It takes a long time and a lot of effort to learn so much as his name, thanks to his silence. Being in large crowds makes him panic, causing impulsive magic and general fear.

Simon loves to learn, though usually it's in the form of reading. With people he's comfortable around, he'll ask all kinds of questions... and hopefully they can return the signs. He gets excited by new information, leading him to share it with people when he can.

Simon has absolutely terrible social anxiety, and it is because of that that he rarely talks to people. When he does, he's incredibly awkward and quiet. He is quick to panic in social situations, and occasionally has full meltdowns.

Simon was born to Martha McKay, a young squib woman. She had a few dates with a nice pureblooded guy, but cut it off when his constant use of magic got overwhelming. A few weeks later, she discovered she was pregnant. Instead of raising the baby, she decided she'd set it up for adoption when it started showing magic. If it was a squib, she'd live with her mistakes and keep the baby. The plan wasn't well thought out, but it was her plan. When the baby was born, she realized the error of her choice. The kid was a metamorphmagus. It was too much for her, given that she’d been raised to hate herself due to her lack of magic.. However, Martha had a heart, and tried to raise the baby until he was at least five..

Another thing Martha never realized was how messy kids were, and her obsession with cleanliness meant that Simon got punished any time he made a mess or forgot to put away his things. He learned to cope with her, and as a toddler, would always try to help her keep the house clean, even when her mean boyfriend would come to visit. That man, Simon detested, as he liked to slap them both around. At the tender young age of two Simon had to learn to use his ability to hide bruises, even though he had no ability to change in any other form.

He unfortunately, thought differently of her, as she would punish him if he accidentally changed colors in public scenarios. Eventually, he would just wrap himself in hats and scarves with long clothes, regardless of the seasons. When he was three, she had a meltdown and she tried to get anyone at all to take him, before she eventually decided he'd be better off without her. She left him alone on the steps of Wool's Orphanage without so much as a proper goodbye, let alone a loving one.

While at Wool's, Simon made friends with an older boy named Reggie. The two regularly played cars or coloring, with Reggie doing all the talking. The older boy had even gotten a notebook to try and track Simon's accidental colors, though the younger knew most of them weren't quite right. Only a few weeks after they'd met, a family had come to adopt Reggie, leaving behind a very confused (and slightly hurt) Simon. His only friend gone, the toddler took to sleeping in Reggie's bed, since he'd slept there to allow the older boy to ward off any monsters in the night. Luckily for him, it didn't take too long before a family was talking to him, and even luckier that one of them seemed to be a very quiet soul. Plus, they could do the silent-talking thing, which made Simon comfortable enough to agree when they asked to adopt him.

As Simon fell into routine with his new family, he was able to become a bit more open, making a few friends here and there. He was also delighted to learn sign language, a skill most of his family knew. He was also able to learn skills from all the various relatives, which fueled his desire to learn more.

Aspen is the oldest daughter (and half a twin pair) to Jason and Sylvana Hill. Being raised by a werewolf and a wood nymph led to some interesting times, but Aspen loved every minute. She ended up taking more after her father than Laurel did, the younger twin being far more open and talkative than Aspen. The older is much more likely to be found somewhere quietly reading. The easiest way to get Aspen up and excited is with the promise of adventure, which she can't refuse. Being half-nymph, she always felt at ease in the forest with her mom, playing in the trees and dirt. As the twins got older, their family grew, first with Willow, then baby Juniper. Now the twins are older and their Hogwarts letters came. Aspen was excited, given that it would be a whole new way to explore and adventure, though she was reserved, since there would be a lot of people she wouldn't know. Luckily, if nothing else, both parents and her twin will be nearby to help her out.

First year went well enough, with Aspen making a few friends right along with Laurel. The good thing, Aspen wasn't bothered nearly as much as expected for being Professor Hill's daughter. Good. That winter, she was working on saving a plant, when a boy from her year - Nimbus - discovered her singing to it. After explaining her situation, Nim promised to keep her secret.

Though it wouldn't be long before another discovered, this time Wren from her house. He discovered it in a bit... different of a fashion, having accidentally stumbled on the fact that nymphs can't resist direct commands, and half-nymphs struggle as well. He tested his theory, ultimately revealing her secret. Aspen threatened him, though less out of anger, more for fear. If he were sinister, he could really hurt her (or one of the many other Hills on property). After a long, heartfelt talk, he apologized, agreeing to keep her secret as well.

Third Year saw the creation of Herbology Club, which turned out to be a surprising success. She worked with her friends, as well as her dad and her aunt Ada to show off various plants around the school grounds. Aspen also had fun with the tutoring aspect. She worked hard to make the club a shining example of Herbology, and to make sure everyone who needed the extra help.

In sixth year, Aspen started dating Reggie, which was a little weird, since he was a werewolf in the same pack as her dad. Which meant they couldn't keep it secret too long. Oh well. Her seventh year passed in a whirlwind of studying, exams, and days spent with friends, and she quite enjoyed the whole time.

After school, Aspen didn't have too many solid plans, but she did have dreams. She worked hard at her dad's shop while she saved every knut. Once she finally had enough, she bought an old greenhouse, and with the help of friends, converted it into an actual livable house. Once Reggie graduated, he moved in with her, which was pretty cool. She used magic to ensure their huge, forested yard was safe and free of possible intruders so Reggie would have a safe place to roam on nights he didn't want to go to the forest.

When she finally realized her dream, Aspen worked with Wren to create a grant to create the MagiScouts, to teach herbology (and so much more!) to all the magical kids (and squibs, muggleborn siblings, etc) that wanted to join in. She went straight to work, doing her best to make a safe and inclusive place for kids to learn and grow.

On 28 June, 2058, Aspen got to marry Reggie in a little ceremony in their garden. It was a beautiful day, surrounded by family and friends. They were finally together forever. It wasn't long after that, that the two found out they were on the path to parenthood. Before they could tell anyone, they celebrated Moira and Eion's wedding as well. The next morning was their first ultrasound, and it was revealed that they were expecting twins. It wasn't until the next spring that Aspen got put on bedrest (and did everything possible to get out of it). Then on July 3, 2059, their twins were born. Sorrel Kenneth and Liatrix Jason were perfectly healthy, and everyone fell head-over-heels in love.
