Another day, another dollar!

And it was a positively smashing day too - the sun was out, and it had just gone passed the time of day when it's position was inconvenient. In fact, it had positioned itself in such a spectacular fashion that his favourite spot had ample shade and a stunning view of the savannah for miles around. Granted, as he wandered up to his post there wasn't much to say, but this came at no great surprise to him due to the current migratory patterns. Most of the larger beasts had moved on for the time being, following the rain as it were, but that didn't mean they wouldn't get any visitors either.

That said, he prepared himself for a quiet day, one that probably wouldn't contain much excitement. If anything, he would probably end up holding the occasional conversation with a nearby bird if they came to rest for a moment or two... but something larger? Well that remained to be seen, he wouldn't catch his chicks before they hatched in this case.

Anything larger than a hare and he'd probably colour himself surprised, let alone anyone else, but none knew what their day might hold for them...

"Well..." he replied and flicked his gaze backwards to inspect the Leotah. He was more than comfortable where he lay and appeared to have no intention of getting up. For all intents and purposes he was the least imposing scout anyone could expect to meet! "Colour me surprised," he finished with a wry smile. From the stature of the Leotah he already knew what it was, a half breed as it were, but not of lion blood... Suffice to say that Viher was simply too small to be of lion heritage.

"Welcome to the Pridelands," he continued after a moments pause and released a small sigh. "Home of the uh...well you probably already know actually," he mused and placed a paw over his eyes to shield them from the sun. "Do you know?" he asked, a touch of uncertainty in his voice though he had assumed that anyone walking with such confidence would know where they were. "Or are you just really good at bluffing?" he enquired.

"Either way, welcome, it's a fabulous day even if you've missed the herds by a good two weeks."

"Excellent!" Iraeneus declared enthusiastically. He truly was the vision of a 'fat', happy lion, his tummy probably wiggled when he laughed too. At least that's something that the cubs might declare if the topic happened to come up! Fortunately Viher was likely to have more manners, but the lion was a decidedly jolly fellow and with that in mind, the hybrid could safely assume that he was more than welcome in Pridelands.

"Then I can avoid the usual marketing spiel and simply stick with the 'welcome'," he mused and shook his head. "Not that I'm particularly lazy but can you imagine how tedious it gets listing off all the wonderful qualities of the Pridelands?" he grinned at that and then replaced his expression with a solemn one. With his facial features settling he observed the hybrid and cleared his throat. "Here in the pridelands..."

"We're fantastic; and so long as you stay out of trouble we'll be delighted to have you," he concluded without bothering with said 'spiel'. "Though I expect you might get one or two questions from a curious cub regarding your appearance," he paused and tilted his head to the side. "But I get the feeling you won't mind that..."

"Have you got a name in case someone happens to ask?" he enquired. "Figure I might pass it on for any of the younglings who think they're about to have a very dramatic day... ruin their moment and all that," he finished with a chuckle.

Wasn't this one a pleasant sort?

"You'll do well here," the pale lion remarked after a few moments of quiet contemplation. It wasn't a particularly long silence and most likely wouldn't have been uncomfortable, but he had needed that brief period to assess the leotah properly. He had concluded beyond reasonable doubt that if he was accustomed to these parts already, then someone else had probably already considered him fine in their books... therefore he was fine in Iraeneus's books as well.

"Well Viher it's nice to meet you," he added and tilted his head to the side. "I'm Iraeneus, no particular way to shorten it, but I'm one of your friendly neighbourhood scouts," he explained. "You'll see a fair few of us scattered around out here, but we're a pretty decent bunch."

"I'm assuming you know where you're headed if you're here though, or are you back to explore more of our land that you might have left uncharted?"

An escort?

Well, Viher was safe in this particular region, that much the scout knew... But if he had something specific he was looking for it was probably going to be more useful to have the lion with him. After all, the Pridelands were rather extensive and with so many individuals in it, he might find himself a little turned around by it all. Eventually, Iraeneus had confidence that the hybrid would spot something familiar and they would part ways, but it would be smart in the grand scheme of things...

"I'll go with you," he agreed with a smile. "Not because I thin you're dangerous," he added. "But it does mean if you have any specific places that you recall then we can at least start there without you getting too lost," he pointed out with a smirk.

"All you have to do is give me some clues and we'll be on our way."

It didn't ring a bell if he was honest, perhaps he was going to have to spend more time in the Pridelands...or at least it's more internal reaches, in order to familiarize himself with some of the newer members. He was a touch isolated in that respect and many atime, unless they came to him, it was rare that he stumbled upon them and had the opportunity to converse.

...He'd found Tala by pure chance, he'd been sleeping when she bumbled into his life and leapt upon him for attention. Now he had the pleasure of watching her family spring to life and expand rather rapidly...though this was largely courtesy of her mother rather than her. Perhaps in time she would add to the numbers himself and he'd have yet more cubs to entertain him when he was trying to sleep.

They all seemed to have a knack for finding him at the worst moments; at this point it was easier to embrace it.

"Let's give it a shot," he said finally. "No doubt after a little while your memory will jog and we'll find a better lead..." he mused with a smile as he strode towards their first 'clue'.
