User ImageJasiri had been thoroughly fussed over by what felt like half the females of the pride, while the other half gawked at the spectacle. Being injured was not unheard of, but the older Abazingeli seemed genuinely worried that the bite on his leg wouldn't stop bleeding at first. After several hours of poking and prodding and the use of various plants that should help but didn't, it finally stopped.

There had been no sign of the snake, other than faint tracks leading away from the pride. The general consensus seemed to be that the snake must have been venomous after all, even if the bleeding and some pain was the only ill effects he had suffered.

No one had heard of such a snake before, and he suspected some thought he exaggerated when he tried to tell them how large it was. For all he knew the snake might have banged his head or hypnotized him somehow, so he might have a skewed view of what had happened.

Right now all he could do was get some rest in the shade and try not to move and open up the wound again.

"Jasiri!" The Umholi's deep voice called out over the sound of insects as he jogged over to where the Inselelo was currently resting. There were at least a few lionesses following behind him, but they kept their distance for which Bangizwe was thankful. Some privacy in this pride was hard to come across.

He had just been on his way out to check for those rogues from the other day, but patrolling could wait a little while. The health of the only Inselelo in the pride was important to Bangizwe, if for no other reason then that he felt some sort of mild brotherhood with the paler male. Both Andhaka and Jasiri had predated Bangizwe's arrival in the Ithambo'hlabathi, they were lions he looked up to and mirrored in some ways as he was learning the ways of the pride.

"I heard from the lionesses as snake attacked you. They didn't say more, but I assume you ripped its head off?" A snake was dangerous to have around with so many cubs and young adolescents who had no real experience fighting anything but eachother and even that was just play. If Jasiri didn't finish it off, Bangizwe knew that the lionesses would likely want him or Andhaka to take care of it.

Now that was a sore spot, one that hurt worse than his bite wound. He had failed to kill the snake, and if it was still out there... It was the largest snake he'd ever seen, and if it decided to come back they'd be in trouble. Perhaps it was the heat of the moment, but he was certain it would have been able to devour a cub without much trouble.

"I did not," he said and looked away, "I'm afraid it got me and then escaped. The best I could do was make sure it didn't get any closer to the pride."

The best he could do was not good enough, and he knew it.

"Hm." The tone in Bangizwe's voice was one of mild disappointment, but also one of worry. If this snake could incapacitate one of their males, Jasiri at that, it was a danger and something that he would need to look into. There was bird, as he recalled, that ate snakes. He had heard about how it had devoured the green serpent that had taken Umoya's leg whole. Perhaps it could help once more...

"Could you describe it? I'd like to look for it myself." Assuming he got the chance at all. While a snake was dangerous and needed to be dealt with, he could hope that Jasiri had managed to scare it off, at least for a little while. Those rogues on the otherhand...there was something about them that just didn't sit well with him and Bangizwe wanted to be sure they were gone from the territory.

Jasiri nodded. He didn't offer to go with Bangizwe since he wouldn't be of much use just yet. The old lioness who finally managed to stop the bleeding had told him very sternly to stay put 'or else'. He didn't want to try what would happen if he disobeyed. She looked gentle enough, but you never knew.

"It was very large," he said, trying to remember exactly how large the snake had been, "Maybe as thick around as my foreleg on the widest part of the snake, but I'm not sure how long it was."

He paused, trying to remember. He knew from experience that it was easy to misjudge the size of someone or something in a stressed situation. He'd gone from eating to fighting so he hadn't been as focused as he could have been.

"White, it was white," he continued, "The blood looked very striking against the white scales, or I guess there could have been red markings. And the eyes looked evil somehow..."

The last part might not have been a very helpful description, but he had not enjoyed being so close to those odd snake eyes.
