Most people would say: "If you've seen one forest, you've seen them all." That was not the case with this particular forest though. It was over flowing with both dark and dimensional energies. The dark energies were created by Atramors when he sealed the portal to his world, but there are many other portals that he has yet to discover. One of the side effects of these portals is the energy they give off. It results in dimensional transmogrifications in some places in the forest. One moment you are walking through a quiet and peaceful forest, in the next, you think you're walking through a bustling city, on a cliff near the ocean, or even a desolate desert, but in reality, that's just the forest taking on the appearance of the other side of one of the many portals.
One must take caution when traversing the Westland Forest as the dark energy created when Atramors sealed his home world portal often mixes with these aesthetic changes, creating creatures of mischief who will play tricks on those passing through a transformed area, making people think they really are in that other world. Few people return from the illusions when a trickster gets involved, not without external aid at least.
There is one path entering the forest from the Moon Kingdom, this path leads in only as far as a tree that appears to be half-decaying. This tree has the largest trunk in the forest, with a diameter of thirty-five feet. From this point, one would need a guide, most likely Atramors, as the dead-half of the tree marks where the tricksters start appearing. About three miles deeper into the forest, to the west of the trickster tree is a very tall tree, it's uppermost branches extending so high that you could see it from the center of the town. This marks location of the cave where Atramors lives.
The forest does not enjoy visitors and as a result of this, the trees lining the outer rim will move and grow to block passage unless one knows the pathway to the trickster tree. Perhaps this is another side effect of the dark energies flowing throughout the forest? Maybe the dimensional energies, those who have tried to discover this usually become lost in the rifts of space.

Atramors
I change shapes just to hide in this place, but I'm still an animal.
Flying westward along the outer edge of the kingdom, they could see the canvas of the Westland forest. One would think they could just fly over the forest to their destination, but observing the birds as they purposefully avoided the forest, it was clear that even passing over it was not possible.
Atramors pointed at a particular set of trees, as they closed in on the path into the forest. "See how they form an archway over the path?" He asked with confusion in his happy tone. "Nine years, I've lived in this forest, I still don't understand how it thinks." He said as they descended in-front of the the entrance. "She doesn't like visitors, but she clearly invites them in." He chuckled as he landed and looked at her, curious about her reaction. Strange sounds could be heard faintly within the forest, well strange for a forest.

Atramors

Atramors smiled at her simple response as he tightened his gentle grip on her hand reassuringly. "Well..." He begun, how to explain it. "Yes and no, she was a very different creature many years ago, or so I've been told by townsfolk around here." He knew exactly what caused the change, but part of him was afraid to admit it, not just to her, but to himself as well.
Atramors' began to walk towards the forest as an apprehensive thought crossed his mind. 'What if she recognizes the tricksters?' He thought as he fought the worried look trying to creep across his face. If he couldn't keep his composure, having lived in this place for so long, how did he expect for her to feel safe in his home? He mentally shook off the worries as they continued, picking up his pace slightly, showing that his confidence had returned.
The noises grew louder, sounds of subway trains, cars, boats, even airplanes. The strangest and Atramors' favorite sounds, however, was the music. The sound of classical and electrical instruments ringing through the air melding together to create the forest's own unique "medley of madness," as he liked to call it. He closed his eyes as they walked through, taking in the sounds, enjoying the mixtures of music and well, chaos really, it was the best word for all the other sounds.
Finally, they had reached the trickster tree and Atramors opened his eyes as a serious look crossed his face. "No matter what, don't let go of my hand." He said in a dark voice. He did not want to frighten her, but the forest had never met her and the tricksters, oh how they loved fresh meat. He glanced up into a nearby tree as something jumped from one of its branches heading deeper into the forest.
