Ephias skirted the patches of sunlight, searching fervently for his lusus. Where was Wolly? Had he escaped his bindings? Or...? Broken stalactites, smashed boulders, and shards of glass, littered the cavern floor. The air was thick with dust from the debris. It was both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, the dirt limited the intensity of the sunlight that reached the cave below. But it also made it difficult to see and worse, breathe. Ephias coughed, fanning the dirt away from his mouth.

“Wolly!” he called, voice horse. “Wolly, where are you?! Wo...” Ephias lapsed into a fit of coughing. His throat constricted as he hacked up a cloudful of dust. It was no good. He was going to suffocate if he continued to shout like that. When his breathing had returned to normal, Ephias glanced over his surroundings once more. He had not seen Wolly anywhere. And if the sheep had freed himself, surely he would have come running.

Ephias spied a cairn of rocks nearby. There was no telling what lie underneath but... He saw a blotch of red on the side of a rock. Without hesitating, he began to dig. A moment later, a dazed sheep's head emerged. The lusus was barely conscious. “Oh, W-Wolly...” He never should have left him. He never should have even entered this stupid cavern, but what was done was done. Ephias gently stroked Wolly's nose and the lusus let out a weak bleat.

"You couldn't smell the stink of it bein' dead as a doornail?" Reemus asked with a blink. "Ahh well. If ya need help with figuring stuff like that out, just lemme know! I've had plenty a' practice, considering." He pointed a thumb at his lusus. She sure liked killing small animals and then tearing them up further.

It took him a moment to understand how the plants were so well-fed...like they actually ate things. Then. Basic principles of plants. Ohhhhh. But before he could laugh, Vos redirected the topic to the man at large, Aendal. Reemus wrinkled his nose. "Aww, that bugger. If I didn't have other things t' worry about, I'd take out 'is throat. But," he crossed his arms, "with all the green stuff poppin' outta him it probably wouldn't do any good. I barely even know how plants work, n' so plant monsters? Sheesh."

He shook his head before giving another go at freeing a lusus. "Nnngh!" He pulled and pulled. "If- I- had- some bloody power- I'd- wanna be able t'- be strong or somethin'." The end of the sentence came out as he gave up yet again. He was a bit winded and had to let out a long exhale.

Zindel failed to free a lusus.

It was like the more he tugged, the more trapped they were. Maybe he should've just stopped altogether...

Voscil shook her head at his question about smelling the dead lusii."Usually I don't stick my sniffnode into stuff unless I gotta! Plus man, theirs tones of smells all over." Shrugging a bit, Vos was reminded of some of the more awful scents that surrounded them. Wrinkling her nose in turn she could note a few. Including fire..oil and burnt things. That on top of the other various scents of the jungle were entirely different than those of the city. "It's kinda hard to tell with all the vines too!" She insisted for her cause, laughing some. "Haven't you done anything silly today?" She demanded, wanting to know if she had anything to hold over him.

The topic of Aendal earned a tired sigh and nod of understanding. "It's crazy to think he's still kicking with all that...let alone caused all this damage." Her frown followed with a shake of her head. Voscil took to trying to help free another lusii but it was to no avail. As much as she tried to pull and yank it just seemed to be impossible in terms of give. "Hnmnng...stupid grubmunching vines." She grumbled, grunting in vain as she tried digging her heels in.

While neither of their efforts had resulted in much, she listened as he talked about having power. "Well maybe you don't, but you can always grow up big 'm strong! I saw you muscle out a few! That's something at least right?" Voscil replied, while it wasn't much of a consolation she'd meant it at least. Wiping her forehead off, finally showing signs herself of being tired, she stood back up dusting herself off.

The more she looked for Odette and co., the more she couldn't find them. She kept avoiding the hits, but seriously... where was she?! What was this?! She was... just over there, where all those rocks were! Wait... no way.

Alifax was going to bring this guy down. It didn't matter anyway, he told himself: this guy would be condemned either way, and the Alternian army was doubtless good enough to do it even without Alifax's help. The only thing Alifax helping did was gain him favor in the eyes of people who might decide whether he himself lived or died.

And that, of course, was worth any stupid 'price'. He closed the gap and swung again, smiling grimly when his meteor hit.

The splint seemed to be holding well and Regina lunged in with the other teens that were now surrounding Aendal, lunging at him whenever he was distracted by another.

Just where was Dictys' lusus?

This was unfair. Why was everyone else's lusus so cooperative and Dictys' such...a renegade? They hadn't always been like this! They'd been perfectly content to sit behind and watch Dictys network, before! Why'd they have to go and do things, where Dictys couldn't do anything in turn for them? When ey grew up ey wasn't going to let Mommydaddy sacrifice any more for em. It already felt like too much to ask.

"Well why NOT? Stickin' sniffnodes in stuff is a GREAT way to pass the time!" And he wasn't even kidding. This kid truly was raised like a howlbeast. But on the topic of silly things...well...Reemus grinned sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck. "Welll I got yelled at earlier fer makin' my one pack jump over a pit...that jingly bloke was not happy about THAT one bit. But it worked out n' we didn't die, and that's what matters, right?" Reemus added with a shrug. "So I guess it was silly cuz it was somethin' someone got mad about, but it was pretty nifty t' me. It was like one a' those action flicks with the guy in the bloodied shirt jumpin' in slow motion with explosions 'r somethin' goin' on behind 'im!" Reemus's arms went up and out as he continued on, obviously super into the mental image. "I was just tryin' t' follow by example! You shoulda seen it. Not the yellin'. The jumpin'."

But. Right. Aendal. "He must be off his rocker if he thinks usin' plant powers in the DESERT is a bloody sensible idea." Another grab for some vines, and another hit and a miss. But hearing her call him strong froze him up, and that warm feeling on his face cropped back up. "Oh. Uh. Well. Uh. Well, g-gee." Him? Big and strong? That sure would be something.

Once Ephias had extracted Wolly from the rubble, he lay the sheep on his side where he would be out of immediate harm's way. He then turned his attention to a nearby lion-like lusus, which was struggling against the vines that had burrowed underneath its flesh. With Wolly out of commission it was up to him. Deftly avoiding the lashing claws, Ephias ripped the plants from the beast. There was a loud roar. His ears rang.

“Go. Get him,” Ephias barked once the creature was free. The lion bounded away. Ephias watched as he did, his gaze settling on the jadeblood. Even with defeat imminent, he was still trying to murder them all.

“You have to stop!” Ephias screamed.

Ephias and Wolly free a lusus and deal 8 damage!

A desperate look around.

A glimpse of a familiar face.

”Vremea!” cried Keionx. The vines were thorned and her constant clawing at them was too much for her skin. ”Help!”

She wasn't supposed to ask for help. Help was what you asked of heroes, not what heroes asked of others. But right now, Keionx was no hero. She needed help, and it had been Vremea herself that had said that she could ask for help.

”Help...”

Voscil wanted to stay and chat more with the yellowblood, but the tides of battle were shifting. She looked at him a bit strangely, a silly smile on her face as he stammered the last bit. Whatever meowbeast had gotten his tongue surely was something all its own. However, they had to think about leaving. "Okay. Reemus, see if you can get your mama over this way..we need to get out of here soon." Voscil wasn't sure if she could truly rely nor trust him, but he'd been willing to help this whole time. As long as he got out safe, and his lusus it couldn't hurt anyway. Plus she didn't want to see him get hurt, or anyone else more-so for that matter.

Even if she didn't know what was coming, getting them all to safer ground had to be better than in the line of fire. She looked back at Zindel, seeing his depressed state, she left Reemus side only to go crouch down by him briefly, not leaning into him or anything like before this time. "We will have her wing looked at. Hey..come on! Don't give up on me now. We should all...get out of here guys. Once its reset it'll be alright. I'm sure!" She insisted to the redblood, looking at him with a pleading look. Vos wasn't going to try and dig into his feelings on the matter, all she could do was hope to reason with him.

After a few words to him, she looked back for the orangeblood and redblood trolls. "Estali! Ephias! Are you guys okay? We should get out of here while we still can." So many injured guardians, her eyes looked back to Aendal. Who had he even been before all this? It was a mystery to the young girl, and perhaps would always remain that way.

Zindel failed to free a lusus.

Zindel was barely even trying anymore. Mostly what he was doing was trying to fix Wrenmom's broken wing with something. It was sticking up in a weird angle...

Hearing someone walk up to him, Zindel looked up a little, seeing Voscil and looking back down to Wrenmom. Wiping away his tears and sniffling, Zindel nodded a bit, carefully standing up. "Lets-- lets go..." He murmured bitterly, thankful that the teens were doing all the damage toward the other troll and that he was extremely weak now. Never again would he put himself into so much danger.
