Odette faded in and out of consciousness under the building pile of rubble. Blood trickled down from the root of her hair and over her lips. Her breaths were slow and raspy and her eyelids flickered. Vremea— Vremea was still out there. She would be worried sick about her and what if, what if she was stuck, too? She had to escape, for her moirail, but...

Weakly, Odette thrust her bleeding hand out of the rubble, scrambling to try to break free. But the debris weighed so much, and she weighed so little. She was done for. Odette's eyes rolled back and her free hand went limp.

Zindel failed to free a lusus.

In his sadness, Zindel held Wrenmom close, using his other hand to pull on the vine hard, trying to free them. Didn't work.

Slowing down to rest against a boulder, Regina gritted her teeth. She couldn't keep up with a charging adult like that. Reaching down, she pulled the charred bone of a dead creature out of the filthy water and tore the front of her wast sash, fationing herself an impromptu leg splint. Hopefully, it should give her the edge to be able to at least help now, at the end, when it was the most important. She had to be there. She had to be seen fighting.

Mommydaddy was missing. Dictys panicked. Where had they gone? There was no - no - ugh. Why were all lusii white? Why were blood colors so hard to distinguish in this lighting? Why did lusii have blood on them that wasn't theirs?

There were, of course, perfectly reasonable answers to these questions. It wasn't in Dictys to think of them, though; ey'd just lost eir lusus, quite a few times.

Ephias sighed with relief and flopped down in the water when Keeper emerged from the rubble alive. She was covered and blood and her wings were torn and crumpled but she was alive. It could have been worse. Upon seeing Etsali's expression, Ephias managed a small smile of his own. “That's fine. I'll stay here if...”

“Where's Wolly?”

Ephias blinked, and his face settled back into it's usual impassive expression. His body was tense though. “Oh, h-he...” Ephias trailed off, chewing the inside of his lip. “I should... probably g-go check on him. C-call me if you need me.” Getting to his feet, Ephias nodded at Etsali. “Take care of Keeper,” he called over his shoulder as he jogged away.

Reemus tried to look chipper when Voscil reappeared. But smiling was getting pretty difficult. He WAS happy she was still around, and that her own lusus was mobile. Meanwhile Etsali had disappeared, and Zindel was in a sorry state with his guardian. The situation was utterly FUBAR.

"Don' worry, mate. It ain't a bad question at all. Woofmum's okay. Compared to, the, uh...THING you were tryin' to help out earlier..." He meant the lusus carcass. "It's better n' THAT n' that's what's important right now, innit?" And he nodded at her plan. "I don' think I'm gonna be able to rush me mum any, even if I needed to." Reemus tried to crack a light-hearted grin at that. "So that plant bloke better not do anythin' else because I'd like to get outta this mess in one piece n' have everyone ELSE get out okay, too. Thanks for the help, though. It's nicer than goin' it alone." And like that, he was blushing again and had to look away. At least the motion helped him see another lusus charge on by. "Eyyyy now." He grabbed on and tried to wrangle it, and in lieu of that, keep it from racing at Voscil and her lusus. "Crikey, how're these bloody vines so STRONG even though that jadeblood oaf looks like he's almost cactus?"

Smiling wasn't exactly easy either even for her. It was easier to be brave in some one else company...even if she was exhausted. Plus, with the wound on her mother side still dripping blood it had her on edge. However she had her turn to look utterly embarrassed looking away as her marked cheeks flushed, dusted with a mustard-hue. So that was why he'd asked her if she'd been okay?

Reemus's reminder of her finding a dead lusii had her shift a bit, looking back at him sheepishly. "I didn't realize it was that dead until I grabbed for it!" She gave him a look that clearly said that was no fair to bring up. Besides puffing up her cheeks some in mild frustration she wasn't that angry with him. Trying to reach and grab hold of the vines to help with subduing another lusus she too couldn't quite manage to break the strong vines even with all her tugging and pulling at it. "I dunno! They are pretty damn strong.." it occurred to her that water had been everywhere, which meant they had plenty to draw from. "Maybe they were just...really well fed." She shrugged idly as she guided her lusus over to them. "And yes, we'll have to help everyone get out of here of course!" She added, casting a look see around for her party mates...even wondering about faces whom she'd only witnessed on the battle field. "One thing at a time right?" She added a bit stubbornly, a grin on her face as she jerked a thumb in Aendal's direction. "With a close eye on our lusii of course!" She agreed conclusively.

31/40 i think? gotta double check.

Koalapops lept at Aendal, scrabbling on all six legs towards his target. He bit down with sharp teeth and tore away with his hands, while Aandes looked on stunned. Only a huge piece of rock could stop him now -- and stop him it did. Koalapops finally met his match. He spun and fell to the ground.

"NO!" Aandes rushed over to the Koala, who was blasted a ways away from the rainbow drinker. Fortunately (no false scares this time), Pops was... Unhurt. He smacked his lips and looked at his son, clearly having run out of steam.

"You've done enough, Pops. Thank you.... I've got it from here..." Mumbled Aandes, tears in his eyes. He helped his lusus onto his back (never minding the soggy fur) and went to find an exit in the gog-forsaken cave.
