Honestly, even after all the maturing she'd done and all the time she'd spent away from Equestria, Twinkleshine's heart remained that of a child. Warm and accepting of the world, but inherently full of so many contradictory statements of the sort one wouldn't notice themselves. This had been a time. Now, she couldn't recall ever explicitly saying that the other pae'il were bad in any sort of the word, but she had certainly expressed some reservations before. If her princesses were concerned, she too should be concerned. It was a natural reaction.

A smile returning to her face at Flutter's compromise, she took another drink of her warm milk and sugar (with tea). "Alright." Reaching to eat a cookie, she looked at Hemi. "How does this sound: tomorrow at dawn we leave for the great tree. Before reaching it, I'll go alone and look for your uncle. Flutterby will wait with you. When I find him," not if, "I'll see if he will come out to meet you. If he does and time allows, then Flutter can come with me inside." A smile. "Sound good to you both?" A look to Ocie "...and to you dear?"

All this talk and bullshit about the tree, not to mention that shaming that had been done to the tea, was really grating on Rosewater's nerves. It didn't show in any way, though; not in her voice, nor expression, nor body language. "It's underwater, right? I'd think it wouldn't be like the tree then." Was that too sassy? Her tone didn't have any sarcasm in it, though, so probably not. "If it's you showing me, dad, I'm sure I'll love it."

His face fairly lit up like a bonfire on a cold winters night. It looked like his trip wouldn't be in vain after all! To imagine, he had a faun uncle, right here on the island all along. "That sounds perfect Ms. Twinkleshine!" Now his eyes flicked back to Ocie. The sprite seemed to be fine with the idea up til then, but he hadn't explicitly said so. He seemed fairly happy though to have Rosewater join him to the springs. Were the daughters really so reluctant to visit their roots? He savored the opportunity! It was another adventure for him.

He looked over to the cool hybrid female, slightly curious about her feelings at the moment. She didn't outright sound like she was dragging her heels, but if those words almost sounded rude to her father.

He must be imagining it. After all, he would never dream himself of back talking to either of his parents. They'd wash his mouth out with soap. Literally.

Flutterby smiled, happy that her mom liked her idea. She was also certain that there would be enough time to look around the tree with her mom afterwards. The young sprite turned her smile to her mom, nodding greatly. She was very happy with that idea.

"That sounds fine Twinkle." He smiled, happy to see the girls going to visit their roots. Though Rose's comment grated a nerve. No matter, the girl didn't mean anything by it.

"We'll leave about the same time as your mother and sister then. Sound good to you Rose?" Ocie asked, figuring it would take him a while longer to travel there with the drying of his skin and all that. The kids seemed to be unaffected by it, which he counted as a blessing. Though he still had to burden anyone traveling with him to wait while he hydrated himself.

Clapping her hands together, but not too loudly, Twinkleshine smiled and nodded once. "It's settled, then! Shall we set off at dawn? It is a rather long journey," she said this more so for Hemi's sake than any of her family's - she knew they knew given how long she was gone when off to get supplies - "and given the circumstances, it'd be best if we tried to return before the day's end."

Waiting for everyone to reply, but with the sort of sweet smile that showed that anyone who tried to change these plans at this point would get an earful, she waited for everyone's reaffirmation before nodding again. "Good! Now off to bed, all of you. Tomorrow will be quite the long day."



Rose glanced at her dad, a smile on her face and her head tilted just slightly. "Are we leaving for lake the same time as them? Can we sleep in just a li-i-ittle bit? Please~?" No harm in asking, in any case. Not like she'd argue extensively at this point.
