The Coffin Bean

[Harry Herne]

Harry slightly bristled at the term "fairy." Like most Fae, Harry felt that word was derogatory. It called up images of flying pixies and prancing leperchauns. Never mind that pixies did fly and leperchauns did prance...

"Yea...I'm what you call a 'fairy.' As for the goblins, they have to act like they agore my father! Time and time again, I have tried to rally them to revolt but it never works. They have to bow to him and wait on him. It's awful."

If cockatiels could roll their eyes, Jareth would have. The truth was that the goblins did agore Lord Herne. The Lord was tough but fair and it was generally thought that he was a better moanarch than his father, Lord Jareth. The goblins looked on Harry's attempt to free them with good natured humor. He meant well but was a bit clueless.

"The worst is when he forces them to take up the Wild Hunt! Totally not groovy! Ruins my zen 'tude. But enough about me, what clawses are you boos taking up? Who is sticking it to the Monster?"  

[Kai Merha]

"Clawses...clawses..." Kai thought about it. "Well, I volunfear for the Monster High Welcoming Committee! And Monster High is kind of like one big clawse. It's the only monster school in the entire world that isn't divided up by monster type. When I had my accident - hackcident, as you'd say, I was living in Transylvania with my dad. I couldn't go to the normie school anymore, and neither the vampire school or the werewolf school would take me. So I was lucky to find out about Monster High."

Kai thought about other 'clawses' he and his friends might have.

"Venus McFlytrap and Tori Underbridge work in the comm-ugh-nity goreden! That's a great clawse. They plant flowers and vegetables there. And the book store in town, the Looking Glass runs a book donation drive every fear. Literacy is a great clawse!"

Then, it struck Kai.

"Oh! I know who you have to meet. One of my friends is a manster who is all about goreganics and scare-trade. He's a little bit prickly to get along with, but if you stay chill and roll with the tides, Gryff is your guy."  

[Peggy Springwell]

Peggy re-joined the group with a steaming to-go cup. "triple shot of espresso. Dad never lets me have this stuff. Dunno why" she sipped it for a moment and then seemed thoughtful as she addressed Dashner

"hmm.. I guess I'd better report in and find my doomitory. I know I am supposed to stay. Just never got that far into the tour.  

[Ronan Aalto]

Ronan's phone pinged again, a huge smile spread across his face as he read the message, quickly typing back a reply as he stood.

Meme Pennywise

"I have to go." He picked up his drink to go, and with no further elaboration, hurried off toward the maul.  

[Kai Merha]

"Alo-" Kai started to wave to Ronan, but Ronan was already out the door and gone. "-ha. Huh. I wonder where he's going off to in such a rush. That's the most I think I've ever seen him smile."

Char-lene walked up and set down Harry and Kai's drinks in front of them. Kai picked his up and took a long time just smelling the steam emanating from the cup.

"Mmm, that's uhh-nbelievable."

Harry called after the rapidly retreating Char-lene.

"The chocolate scare trade too?"

Harry swirled his drink slightly.

"If they're groovy enough to score scare trade coffee then they're groovy enough to do the chocolate too."

He took a long sip and looked around thoughtfully.

"This town is ripe for a full on cosmic hippie jam band fearstival, man. We could call it Woestock."  

[Dashner Hawke]

Dashner nodded, sitting down and allowing Peggy to sit beside him.

"Well, you might be with my sister. She's in a new Doomitory and they don't have a third monster yet, so I think that'll be where you are. But I don't know. If you would like a tour of the school, I could always give you a tour of Monster High," he nodded, smiling and putting his arm on the seat behind.  

[Peggy Springwell]

"we're on a tour right now , aren't we?" she seemed perplexed. She wasn't really used to this flirting stuff. She took a deep drink of her espresso.

"I really REALLY like this stuff. "  

[Dashner Hawke]

"Of the city,not the school. Harry has already seen the school so they decided to tour New Salem instead," he shrugged, looking at the cup as steam rose from the liquid.  

[Peggy Springwell]

"i DO need to find the head mistress and the doomitories. I guess you can help if you aren't too busy?"  

[Dashner Hawke]

He nodded. "I'm not busy at all, do you wanna go now?" he asked, smiling.  

[Kai Merha]

"This town is ripe for a full on cosmic hippie jam band fearstival, man. We could call it Woestock."

"That sounds toadally gnarly!" Kai agreed. "You should check out Haunted Hollow Park. That's the beast place in town for a fearstival, brutha. Jewels!"

Kai called to the mole-ghoul, who gave a little squeak and a jump, hiding behind her paper menu.

"You live near H-H park, don't you? Wouldn't that be a great place to put on a fearstival? I bet we could even talk Nero into getting the band back together!"

Somewhere, far, far away, at Nero's house, a terrifying, horrible shiver ran up his spine, and Nero had no idea why.

Harry perked up. A park? That was more like it! Maybe there was a sylvan there tending or some of the Little Folk tending the park. Some other Fae in the area would make this seem more like home.

That would be totally groovy. The fearstival would have to be all goreganic and care for the ecology of the park. We can't destroy nature even to jam in the name of peace!

Lay it on a dude...have there been any odd hactivities in the park?

"Do we have t'go in?" Marceline gripped one bony hand around the bike rack outside the Coffin Bean as Falconnie yanked at the other.

"Yes, of course we do!" Falconnie grunted with each pull, but Marceline would not relent; she finally gave in, and took a second to catch her breath. "Do you really think we were just gonna come all this way to look in the window, then go home?"

"Well, no o'course not... I just wish you'd've let me get changed into something a little nicer than this... I look a fright!"

"So you're in your pajamas... like anyone's gonna really care. Let's just go in, get a scream tea or something, say hi to everyone, then we can go home, ok?"

"I guess... okay." Marceline tugged at her shirt, feeling a bit undone, as she finally relented and walked through the door.  

[Skinny Sally]

Sally looked at Kai and Harry. Jewels seemed to be avoiding talking at all costs. She just slouched lower down. Sally glanced at her, then at Harry. All this talk of fearstivals and jamming and hacktivities, she was really curious.

"The park is usually pretty quiet. I'm sure even more so now that its getting colder." she tilted her head, "I live in the woods near there. Wide open spaces, but not much else."
