History: Growing up fostered at Serrat Weyrhold as the product of a single Flight, N'kaf never really spoke to his parents, instead running about the Weyr being coddled by the women who thought he was "too cute." Many times, older women would comment that N'kaf had turned out a great deal like his father, N'koren, but that was about the extent of N'kaf caring about his absentee father or his almost-absentee mother. The "too cute" attitude he had as a child turned into a cocky attitude as he grew older, since N'kaf had grown up knowing he could turn women's heads. He walked around like he owned the world by the time he was 12 and he was always certain that he was going to not only become a dragonrider, but a high-ranking one as well.

True to his predictions, N'kaf Impressed Bronze Tenthrith of Freyth's Kappa Clutch at 14. Unfortunately for the proud-to-parade pair, they were not the only Bronze and new Bronzerider that night. The whole Weyr must have groaned when they realized that both N'kaf and Z'fer, the two most vain fosterlings, had Impressed in the same Clutch-- and both to Bronzes. What followed that one incident of stolen spotlight (though N'kaf would never use quite that wording) was years of strutting and challenges between the two Bronzeriders as they "secretly" competed to be better than the other. Even decades later, the rivalry continues, although at a much more subtle level than they showed during Weyrling lessons. Much to Z'fer's displeasure, N'kaf even has a loose, ongoing flirtation with Z'fer's younger sister, Zen, which seems to crop up the most whenever Z'fer is around to see it.

In spite of that, N'kaf does respect Z'fer as a fellow Bronzerider and as a man in his own right, though he would only admit it under torture.

N'kaf won his first Flight at 17, catching Green Trath with little trouble. Still, Tenthrith preferred the Flights of Golds and gives good chase to them any time one Rises. Neither Bronze nor rider was ever content to settle with one woman (or female dragon), and their past is littered with romantic partners.

Personality: The vanity of this man is openly stated, and it can be seen with every step he takes. Quite the ladies' man, this rider is a flirt who walks with a straight back and the gait of a man prepared to and expecting to lead-- and enchant everyone along his way to the top. He mixes his vanity with charm and artfully created attentiveness to whomever he's speaking to at the moment, which helps divert a great deal of the negative attention he might receive otherwise for his less-than-modest traits.

In spite of the vanity, flirtatious nature, and general me-first selfishness inherent in N'kaf, he is a man absolutely devoted to doing right by the Weyr. Sure, rising to the top is really all about his own personal gain and reputation, but once he gets there he intends to make the best decisions for the Weyr as a whole and not just for himself. His reasons for looking for rank may be less than honorable, but N'kaf would never allow himself to ruin the respect and trust people place in him, and that's a particular brand of honor if nothing else.

If one dug down deep enough, they might find an honestly good person inside, but it is a difficult part of N'kaf to locate, considering that he spends most of his time parading his dragon color, looks, and charm to anyone who cares to enter his personal space. Even those who like N'kaf know exactly what kind of vain poppinjay he is. N'kaf can be kind and caring, and has shown it on rare occasions; he's just so cocky that he's more likely to be flirtatious or facetious about everything but the most serious, Weyr-threatening matters.

N'kaf is not the type interested in being a father, but seeing a child heartbroken or crying seems to trigger a reaction in him that sets aside his usual charm and posturing and forces him to actually act like... well, a compassionate human being. Thankfully for N'kaf, who avoids children otherwise, this is not an occurrence likely to happen often. It's an uncomfortable experience for him to reflect on, and although women love a man who loves children, that's not usually the angle N'kaf prefers to work. Incidents like that tend to stay private to him and the child alone.

Physical Description: N'kaf is a strapping man standing at 6' 1" and built like a stereotypical dragonrider. With deeply tanned skin and a body rippling with toned muscles, N'kaf is the pretty boy women swoon over and the vain popinjay that men tend to hate for his vanity. His eyes are chocolate brown and his hair is light brown, bleached slightly more blonde by the sun. His smile bears even, nearly white teeth with enough charm to gain the heart of any woman willing to give it.

Age: 11
Color: Bronze
Physical Description: Even for a Bronze, Tenthrith is large. As a strapping example of the dragon race (as he would say), he has an extensive wingspan that would have any female dragon giving him a second look, even the females who don't particularly like him. His hide is a dark version of the standard Bronze, with a face and wings mottled by a lighter shade of the same color.
Personality: Oh, this boy is just as vain as his rider is. He knows he looks good and he'll accept no less than the best for his Flight partners. If he feels a female he's chasing in Flight isn't worth the effort-- and it has happened-- he'll just drop out of the Flight, whether she's picked him for the mate of the Flight or not. Quite the flirt, he's well-matched to N'kaf and this is one Threadfighting pair to be watched when in the sky.

Unlike N'kaf, Tenthrith already knows he is better than Calanoth and isn't as interested as his rider is with earning a rank. Oh, he'll show off and do what his rider needs him to do to prove they're a perfect pair and deserve the accolades that will get them moving up the ladder, but he isn't as focused on the rise to rank as his rider. He's a Bronze, a large and handsome one at that, so who cares if the plebeians don't notice that right away? Sure, a little more recognition would be nice, but, in Tenthrith's mind, everyone already knows who he is and admires him anyway.

The one thing Tenthrith can't be fault on is his work ethic. He will work his tail off to complete his assignments and would never do anything or allow N'kaf to do anything where they could accuse the pair of slacking off or being less than worthy of any praise they earn. He may be as immodest as his rider, but he earns his compliments and will make sure anyone who says otherwise knows how wrong they are.

Tenthrith trusts N'kaf to make his own decisions (for the most part), but should anyone actually get close to N'kaf, he would be very protective of them. After all, anyone who isn't N'kaf likely isn't strong enough to protect themselves; that's what dragons are around for. Those rare individuals who enter that small, extremely sparse inner circle where they've earned N'kaf's affection or respect, then they have earned Tenthrith's as well and the Bronze will stand by that until they do something to break N'kaf and Tenthrith's trust in them.
