"-ball? I wouldn't mind whalloping Manny Taur or Chase Q with a precision-perfect throw."

Cassie stopped walking listening to her "Uhm, Are you feeling okay? I think you shorted out or something. You said landing sequence engaged? and your eyes did a thing..." she tried to put it into words but she wasn't able to put it into scientific words, or even actual smart words.

"So yeah, Sports!" She tried to move with the subject change. Starting to walk with her to make sure she wasnt late to class, like she was so close to this morning.

"Demona and I usually sit in the East corner of the creepateria with a few others."

"Talking about me huh?" She wrapped an arm around him but not in a jealous way like with Astrid at the mall this was more casual, friendly way.

She looked at Jaki up and down "Oh hey, im Demona, you can call me Mona or Dee. Do we have any classes together?" She moved one hand to hold out to shake Jaki's

"I mean besides the one we just had together."

As they walked by the school's trophy case Demona stopped to look in her reflection fixing her mascaruhh. She smiled to herself then took out her phone to take a selfie.

"oh no, I have a full memory...It says I have to delete photos."

"So yeah, Sports!"

Atomica shrugged.

"Probably one of Lin's remote updates downloading. I'll yell at him AFTER Phys Dead."

The two of them headed into the locker doom to get dressed. Peeking into the grimnasium, Atomica saw the big wire enclosure full of dodge skulls. She grinned.

Yes, somemonster was getting CLOBBERED.

"Hey, want to sit with me and my bluddies at lunch?" Kai offered to Jaki. Being a member of the Monster High New Students Committee, it was part of his duties to be welcoming to new student bodies, after all. "Demona and I usually sit in the East corner of the creepateria with a few others."

Jaki looked surprised and nodded, no one really liked her at the last school she went to so this was a nice change, then again she hasn't tricked anyone yet sooo "Oh! nice to meet you Demona." She smiled politely and looked at where she needed to go "Huh...Physical Dreaducation..." She looked around still trying to get the hang of all these hallways and doors "Save a seat for me in the creepateria?"

"Hey, I've got Phys Dead next feariod too!" Kai piped up. "We can walk there together, if that's okay with you."

Some monsters liked their privacy, after all. Kai didn't like to actively make assumptions (even if he didn't realize he was assuming Jaki's dad was a literal pumpkin).

"I know it's kinda early, but, do you like Monster High so far? I know my first couple days it was a pretty huge adjustment. We didn't have locker tentacles at my old schools, for example." Kai dodged as one jutted out of a locker, grabbing a short nearby green boy and pulling him in. "I've been at school in Hawaii and Transylvania and nothing was quite like this."

She thought for a moment and nodded "I suppose we could..." She smiled lightly to Kai, and then watched as the green boy was pulled into a locker, this caused her to chuckle. "Well....I will say today has been a very eventful day....I got mobbed by goblins, passed one of Mr. Hacks tests...and I just witnessed a kid get dragged into a locker...I'd say that I like it here....not as much as my other school mind you...but uh....can't exactly go back there...not after the pumpkin bomb incident...heh..." She continued to walk with Kai to their next class. "Oh! And I've managed to make a friend on my first day...er...we are...friends right?"

"Oh! And I've managed to make a friend on my first day...er...we are...friends right?"

"Sure!" Kai grinned like a cheshire cat. He couldn't wait to grimtroduce Jaki to the rest of the gang, but Phys Dead came first.

They arrived at the locker dooms and Kai stepped inside to change into his grim shorts and tee. Mr. Verizhe, the coach, was inspecting the names of the students on a clipboard as Kai finished tying his tennis shoes and stepped out into the grimnasium. He looked at who else was in the class.

Chase Q trotted in, followed by Manny Taur and Deuce Gorgon. Exiting the ghoul's locker doom, Kai saw Cassie, Atomica Servo and Gilda Goldstag. A few more student bodies lurked in as Mr. Verizhe blew his whistle and then started his introductory spiel for the new scaremester.

Most of it was pretty basic...spring sports, plus some free hacktivity days. The beast part was a chance to be outside - after being cooped up all winter, that was what Kai was looking forward to the most. He wasn't the most athletic manster, but his dna soup of genes did give him decent agility and strength.

"All fright, for our first day, we're going to play a little Dodgeskull!" Mr. Verizhe informed everymonster. He spun a skull-covered ball on his index finger expertly. "I want you to count off, one and two. Team one, you go on that side of the grim, and team two, you head to the side with the mats."

"One!" Deuce headed to the far side of the Grim.

"Two!" Manny headed to the near side, where some mats were stacked in a corner.

"One!" Gilda Goldstag joined Deuce. The counting continued down the line until it reached Kai.

"Two!" He chimed in, and headed to join Manny and the rest of team two. He watched the other students count off. Who else would be on his team?

"One." Atomica counted resolutely. She was on a team with Deuce, Gilda, Lagoona and a few others. There were no real standout powerhouses on Team One. This match would have been a massacre...except that Atomica had an advanced targeting system installed by Lin McGearloch. And although Lin's gremlinny luck usually meant anything he made exploded/fizzled/exploded some more, the upgrades he'd given Atomica had always worked surprisingly well.

Atomica started scanning the other side of the grim.

Scanning for targets...

"Two." Cassie said glaring at the person next to her who refused to trade spots with her so that she could be on the same team with Atomica. She slumped over to the team Kai was on, she reached her arms out to Atomica as she walked away. Imagining that the person next to her would have traded and the two beasties weren't going to be against each other.

Cassie had a strategy, one that passed every time. Hide in the back corner, with everything happening in the front students moving and throwing things. Cassie had the perfect way to get into the top 5 left, then Cassie would play and maybe win...but that last part was a bit of a stretch even with Cas' let everyone do all the work then come in at the last moment to claim the victory plan..

"One..." Jaki hesitantly wandered over to the others on the team. She was rather good with her aim, she's had tons of practice with throwing various objects...but dodging...was another situation...she figured she would get up to three...four if lucky...  

[Atomica Servo]

Some orangey ghoul joined Atomica's team that her internal scanners did not recognize. Atomica filed her under the 'Backgrounder' folder in her memory bank. She was probably one of those students that was likely to be found walking back and forth deep in the background when something IMPORTANT was happening to someone IMPORTANT like Atomica Servo.

SUPER important.

"All right, everymonster ready?" Mr. Verizhe asked as he rolled the cart with all of the dodgeskulls right into the middle of the floor. It was going to be a race to get to the cart and grab balls.

Atomica glanced at Cassie on the opposing team. She had a good strategy with one GIANT flaw...that Atomica knew her strategy! Atomica flexed her fingers.

"Get set..." Mr. Verizhe backed up to the sidelines and turned transparent (a good way to keep any of the more 'boisterous' students from 'accidentally' sending a dodgeskull his way) and put his whistle in his mouth.

Atomica crouched down, preparing to run to the cart. She noticed the Orange Ghoul Backgrounder was close to her and decidedly NOT in the background. Huh.

*TWEEEEEEEET!*

Mr. Verizhe blew his whistle and everyone was off to the cart!

...Except for Atomica Servo, who stood stock-still, frozen in mid-crouch, her eyes flashing ones and zeroes.

"Brrrrr-rrrrrrr-rrrrrrrr-rrrrrrr" A sound like a screechy dial-up rang out from Atomica's voice speaker, but otherwise she was completely still.

Cassie looked at her in shock, she hid in the back of her team but kept her eyes on Atomica.

Maybe it really is just an update. Cas knows updates, and how they look. this was no update. Atomica must be in trouble she must be. There's no way she was doing this back to back without there being a true reason she needs help.

Now to get over to her side. Cassie glanced around to see who she could use to get over there, and how to by not immediately saying that there was an uneven number of monsters on the team

Weird sounds came out of Atomica's voice speaker that didn't sound like her normal high-pitched diva voice.

"Hello?! *schrrrzzt!* -transmitting from - *crackle* -on our way - *zzzzzscht* -are coming too! Beware of the Robo-"

*KERBOMMPO!*

"HAW! Got 'er!" Manny Taur high-fived Invisi Billy as his dodgeskull rammed Atomica right upside the head, causing the stiff automaton ghoul to fall like a redwood in the forest.

Atomica suddenly snapped to.

"Servo! You're out!" Mr. Verizhe blew his whistle. Atomica blinked and looked up from the grym floor.

"What?! I'm the first one out?! HOW?!!!" This was a travesty of injustice! Atomica was NEVER the first one out in Dodgeskull! AND now her ear antennae was bent. Atomica grimaced.

"FINE." She stomped off to the sidelines, trying to adjust her ear antennae. At it's wonky 36 degree angle, she kept picking up a radio station from somehwere in Hexico.

"Why would you do that!?" Cas stomped her foot at Manny.

"Duh, that's how you play the game!" He scoffed as he threw another ball.

Cas looked at atomica now she knew for sure that something was wrong, Atomica would never ever be the first one out!

She walked out off the court. "I got hit!!" Cas yelled going to Atomica. "I think somethings wrong and its it's not just updates!"

"You're darn right something's wrong!" Atomica tried bending her ear antennae back, but the sound of Radio Carumba from Hexico just got louder. "I think Lin gave me some sort of virus!"

Atomica stomped a foot with frustration. Other monsters started to join her and Cassie as they got smacked with dodgeskulls. Skelita Calavares nodded along to the music coming out of Atomica's ears.

"At lunch I am going to give Lin SUCH an earful!" Atomica hexclaimed. The music entered an extended mariachi break.
