Introduction~

Nice to meet you.
You can call me Touya. I am a university student in the U.S. My major is Japanese language and Asian Studies. Because I'll be going to Japan next semester, I want to practice more Japanese. Some of the things I really like are Anime, Manga, Cosplay, and Yaoi. I'll be in your care.

*Please be committed and serious about learning.
*PM me your SKYPE and probably what level of Japanese you want to practice. I'm not fluent but I'm also not a beginner. I've helped translate mangas before if that helps.
Beginners are more than welcome.

わたしはMyrrhと申します。大学で四年に日本語を勉強しましたが、あまりできません。。。 cry 日本語をモット勉強したい。。。

Hi. You can call me Fish, or Myrrh or whatever. I took four years of Japanese in college but I'm super rusty and also very shy to use it so I need a lot of practice still/again. But I'd be happy to practice sometime, especially writing.

o.o!!
When I was 12 I started to teach myself.
I can watch anime and japanese movies and tv shows without reading the subtitles 80% of the time, but I don't know all the vocabulary.

I learned with romaji, which I know is the worst way to learn.
But my pronunciation skills are way more advanced than my remembering symbols.

I know HIRAGANA.... so reading full sentences makes my head spin, I hit a Kanji character or a certain Katakana character and it changes the whole sentence for me. Thought write it in romaji and I can pronounce it perfectly razz
Even if I have no clue what I'm saying.

If any one is willing to brush my slacking butt up, it would be greatly appreciated. biggrin

When you learn it in Romaji, it makes it 100% harder to relearn in Hiragana. It's all about practice really. I grab the Japanese books/manga I have and just READ them outloud, even if you can't make sense of what you are saying. In the beginning you'll sound like a 4 year old trying to read outloud for the first time, but eventually you'll be able to glide right through it.

I suggest ordering kid's books, I got my friends to pick some up for me when she was in Japan, Disney books like Lilo and Stitch and Cinderella are great so you won't struggle to hard with the katakana since it's familiar. They are written in simple Japanese and have no Kanji. It's the best learned tool I'v ever had!
