Ever since the world was created, Dragons have existed. They were appointed the guardians of the land and took their title seriously. Always wanting to make existence better for the different races, they held a meeting with the leaders of every species and hatched a plan to make a Paradise of sorts where there were no wars and everyone lived in peace. Everything seemed to go well, for years preparations over the months were detailed and precise, everyone was happy and excited...........

.....but there was a shadow quickly growing darker. Some of the leaders didn't want to give up their ranks and with Paradise, everyone would be equal with a say in major decisions. Unable to give up the power they held, they banded together in secrecy, planning a way to bring down the dragons, the original creators of the plan. Slowly, ever so slowly they poisoned the minds of the others, making them believe the dragons wanted nothing else but to control all races, with Paradise being an illusion.
With that, the dragon hunts began, starting with the sudden attack on their main city, Strion. Thousands upon thousands were killed in the massacre. Over the years, the dragons have been hunted like nothing else but animals to the point of extinction.
Now, after 50 years, only a very small handful of the race have survived. They have learned the ability to shapeshift in order to hide themselves and walk among the cities, keeping attention away from them, aiming for nothing in life but to stay alive.

This is their story

RULES (If I am allowed to have them, lol)

1) I can not stress this enough, BE LITERATE!!!! At least three sentences a post please, it gives the other writers more to go on and makes the story more interesting as well as gives it more depth, I understand Writer's block, tell me if you have it so I know not to yell at you, lol
2) You can make as many characters as you want, but please note that the dragons are almost EXTINCT, there won't be many so if you have more than one profile, try not to make all of your characters dragons, have a variety!
Everyone can have at least one dragon since this RP focuses mostly on their stories and trying to survive.
3) no god modding, it makes people angry when your character seems to dodge every attack and is invincible, and it isn't nice also when your character's actions are being controlled by someone else
4) All in all, have fun!

User Image Cecelia was kneeling down in front of the flower bed spreading the soiling around the newest additions to the Gardens. Dianthus. They were lovely flowers, a beautiful shade of purple with silvery-green lance like leaves. She could imagine what they looked like. She had seen a few once at a flower shop many years ago. Even now, with the way she saw them, they were still pretty as they emitted a soft colorful glow. They were healthy and she was careful while transplanting so not to cause very much harm. You never could tell though. Some flowers seemed to take moving easier that other. It was odd. But interesting to learn. Cecelia was sure the queen and other nobles would be happy to see them as they strolled through this place.
Cecelia stood wiping the sweat from her brow. A few of the blooming trees needed to be pruned as well. She picked up her tools that were setting beside her, but one seemed to be missing. She knew she had laid those shears somewhere....

"Staying busy as usual I see." a voice said behind her. Cecelia jumped and whirled around. She relaxed as she saw it was the head grounds keeper. She must have really been concentrating on working to have not noticed the big man's approach.
"Yeah, I thought I'd put in the new flowers." she said with a smile.
Kale was the only man here she trusted completely. He was a middle aged man with dark weathered skin, dark hair and brown eyes to match. He was a big man, but a good one who cared about this place more than the royalty who owned it. His family had worked here for generations. Something he'd tended to remind his employee's alot. He nodded to her. He also happened to be holding her shears.

"You work too hard, Ce. You are one of the most dedicated gardeners I've had, but you should rest some. The others can take care of the rest. Go take a break."
Cecelia was surprised. Kale wasn't usually so forward. However he had a point. Maybe she was working to hard. She hardly ever took time off and took on more than necessary. She smiled sheepishly. "I suppose it might be a good idea. I can do that after I take care of the trees..."
"Bah! Ford can do that." he said, shaking his head. "A girl your age should enjoy herself some."
Cecelia was suspicous now. This was unlike Kale. He could gave orders, sure, and they were always followed. But when he gave a suggestion he'd leave it to the person to listen or not, and hardly ever pushed the matter. What was he up to? However, she relented, deciding to play along with whatever he was doing.
"Okay, okay. I'll go. Thanks." With a last questioning stare, she walked away. She had no idea what he could be up to but she couldn't do anything about it. Plus, exploring the city might be interesting. She did need to get used to the layout.
As soon as Kale was out of sight she found her hiding spot and pulled out her walking stick. As she left the massive grounds covered with grass and earth, she'd need it. Stone wasn't something she could see. It put her at a disadvantage in this place.
Cecelia, stick in hand, left the castle through the servants exit.

"I have see more death and destruction than you can ever imagine.....
User Image

Verona strolled through the garden paths, in line with the other ladies in waiting for the princess, keeping a meek air about her. But in truth, the girl was bored out of her mind. All they had done throughout the day was talk and giggle about unimportant things such as which noble was the most handsome or what they would be wearing to the next ball. Verona herself kept quiet throughout most of it, bringing in a comment or two so as not to arouse suspicion she wasn't having the time of her life. The only reason she was a lady in waiting was so she could keep close to the royal family and be one of the first to hear about any news concerning the dragon hunts. The princess was brainless and easily manipulative; she jabbered about anything and everything and all Verona had to do was act like another girl with no concern in the world. It was harder than it sounded, sometimes all she wanted to do was strangle the pretty princesses' neck.
But as well as being in an easy place to get information, it was also an open place and Verona knew other dragons would recognize her on sight. She had only ever seen three others and as soon as she had seen them, the girl had slipped away, explaining later to the curious ladies that she hadn't felt well and needed some time alone to rest.
She was brought out of her thoughts by one of the ladies.
"...heard that the noble Lucid will be visiting soon; don't you think he is the most handsome man in all the kingdom? What I would do to dance with him." The one who had spoken swooned, a smile on her face.
"Wait....did you say Lucid?" Verona asked, a frightened look in her eyes. She knew that name, it had been branded into her mind ever since she was a young girl; Lucid Atray, the dragon who had betrayed his own kind and started the war. If he was coming here, then there was only one reason and that was hunting dragons. He must have caught wind that there were surviving ones in this area.
"Yes Lucif, why do you look frightened?" The lady asked, an alarmed look on her face.
Trying to think up an excuse, Verona acted shy and clasped her hands together. "I-I didn't think he considered us to be that important, I was just surprised, that's all...."
Satisfied with the answer, the lady smiled. "He must have heard about the beauty of our princess Astaria." She said, nodding to the girl. "As gentle and exquisite as a rose she is."
Oh please, she looks like a cow Verona thought as they continued their walk.

User Image Cecelia had only walked a little ways when she had to turn around. She had realized that leaving straight from working in a garden was not the best idea. She imagined her knees were smudged with dirt as well as her face, or whereever else she may have touched at one point or another. It had only come to mind after she saw disapproval coloring some of the people just outside the castle. Some of the lords and ladies were either returning from or going out on rides through the countryside. It seemed her dirty appearance was a silly thing for them to be offended at, but they were.
A part of her was happy that telling which emotion was which was coming so easily now. Granted, disapproval was one she discovered right off as her Aunt Hilda was always colored with it. She smirked at the memory.
Cecelia slipped back in with a nod to the garden guard on duty there. She slipped through several of the flowers, trees and herbs that covered the place. She held her walking stick in her hand, not wanting to put it away but not really needing it. The grass lit the ground so she was sure-footed as she walked. In this place, she felt almost as if she could she like normal again.
Cecelia was almost to were she could enter her quarters and clean up. However, she had to stop mid-stride as a groups of ladies headed her way. She scrambled to hide behind a large rose bush until they passed. She learned before that if a servant was not doing necessary work in a nobles presense, they didn't want to see said servant. Not all were like that, but many. Strange it was. Cecelia was still puzzled by it.
She watched the groups slightly. They were all the ladies-in-waiting. A common site as they 'ohh'ed and 'ahh'ed over the flowers she had her fellow gardeners took such care to grow. She couldn't help feeling happy they enjoyed it. However as she was studying the ladies, she noticed one that was very unlike the others.
Over time, Cecelia had seen several races. It was easy to pin point elves from humans and so on. They may look similar in appearence to most people, but to Cecelia the difference was obvious and hard to miss. The colors were completely different.
Cecelia stifled a gasp as her eyes fell on the woman near the back. Her aura's color was not one that could ever be applied to humans. She looked like noone she had ever seen. Magic was something the showed up in auras as well, like gold and silver veins, through quartz. She'd was amazed by how much was in this woman. She was not human and she was powerful. What was she?
Cecelia watched with wide eyes as the ladies-in-waiting walked by, frozen in her hiding spot as she trying to make sense of what she was seeing.

Akuma Stalked through the streets of the capital, a dangerous look on his face. He was angry, but then again when wasn't he. He had a piece of paper clenched in his fist, severely wrinkled and getting worse by the second. This was the second job in a week he had been turned down on, all because "They didn't like his attitude". He sneered and threw the paper away roughly glaring at it.
He stalked into a little tavern, and everyone looked up as he came in. A mother shushed her children and on instinct shielded them with her body. Akuma made his way to the bar and ordered some juice and a platter of potatoes, steak and eggs for his breakfast. The cook worked double time and soon he was wolfing down his breakfast. If this job thing didn't pick up soon he would be forced to write poetry again and that was something he didn't want to do. He was good at it no doubt , but when he wrote it brought up deep emotions best left alone.
He quickly finished and set three coppers on the counter before striding out and making his way up the main street, looking around and watching the vendors and shops sell there wares.
"Lucid ...comi.....town..."
Akuma stopped dead in his tracks and looked for the voice with a violent look in his eyes. He kept stalking down the street thinking. if Lucid was coming to town soon that could mean only one thing. Dragon Hunts. He had better lay low and not draw notice to himself to much. He knew if he ever got the chance to kill that b*****d he would take it. Not because he had betrayed their race but becasue he had been the worst to Akumu growing up. About 200 years his senior, Lucid had been brutal with Akumu. But Akuma knew he was no match for Lucid, especially with out his full power.
As Akuma neared the gates of the castle he slowed and went into a flower shop, which was right next to a bookstore, where he usually submitted his poetry work. He ducked in and breathed in the soothing smells of nature.

Verona continued to follow the ladies, keeping just a little behind them all, her thoughts preoccupied by the news of Lucid coming. She would have to make up an excuse or something to the princess. Maybe she could say her aunt was visiting a nearby city or a distant cousin, either way she would have to get out of here. She didn't think Lucid would try anything in the open....would he? The dragon had been unpredictable from what she'd heard, thankfully the girl had never met him and she didn't want to throughout the rest of her life. If he caught her alone he would kill her without a second thought. A part of her wanted to stay here when he came, see what he would do when he discovered a dragon right in the middle of the royal family, tending to the princess herself. She could imagine the baffled look on his face and almost chuckled out loud, but remembering where she was, the girl quickly put a mask over her emotions and absently looked around at the flowers. They really were beautiful, whoever took care of them did an exquisite job.
Some movement out of the corner of her eye made Verona turn. She narrowed her eyes when she noticed a small girl staring at the ladies; she looked like one of the gardeners, there was a smudge of dirt on her face and her hair needed to be washed. But the strange thing about her was she was completely focused on Verona, her eyes wide and surprised. The dragon shrugged it off as just a girl staring at royals with the same awe others with lower ranks had, but she wasn't staring at the princess, her attention was on Verona. Unnerved, she quickly turned away, and quickened her footsteps, trying to put something between her and the girl. Just who was she? Her eyes were an unnatural grey and she at first thought she was blind, but the way the girl looked at everything made Verona think otherwise.

User Image Cecelia stood were she was for a long time, even after the ladies were out of sight. She was curious now and the same questions went through her head over and over. And, like most of her questions, she lacked answers.
She sighed, knowing she couldn't just stand around. But it was on her mind constantly found her room and cleaned herself up. She came up with several reasons. Maybe the princess had a secret body guard, but that only explained so much. Finally, she had to put it aside, for it was making her head hurt.
Cecelia smoothed out her simple frock, one of many she owned, and hoped she looked alright. She didn't want to go around looking like she'd rolling in the dirt. At least now she was free of grime. She still wished she could look in the mirror and see. Just to make sure.
Running her hand along the wall, Cecelia found were she rested her walking stick and was on her way. Thinking now she hadn't left the castle in over a month now. Perhaps Kale was right in making her go. She was still reluctant to leave and looked back nervously at the castle as she exited. The only reason she hung around the castle so long was because she was hoping, praying, that she might hear word of her father, or the noble who took him.
Cecelia made her way down the street, her walking stick tapping the ground in front of her so she didn't trip over things on the paved streets. She couldn't help but smile as she breath in the fresh air. It was nice to get out. By listening to the coversations around her, Cecelia was about to follow a group through the streets to the market place. She may be mostly blind, but there were still things she could enjoy.

User ImageThe scents of the shop hit him as he entered and he closed his eyes, briefly overwhlemed by a feeling he could not identify. It was.... almost....like peace, he thought secretly. He sniffed and the musty slightly damp scent of the earth reached his nostrils making him breathe deeper, he smelled the sweet, spicy, and fresh flowers, along with the undertone of decaying plants. It calmed his nerves slightly, and for that split second he felt home...
He Quickly shook it off and made his way to the back of the shop where he entered a connecting door that led to the bookstore. He quickly stepped inside cutting off the soothing aromas and traded it for the smell of new paper and ink. He shook his head and his face settled into a subtle angry expression again. He made his way over to the desk where a big, burly man in his late forties was bent over a book scribing something. Akuma waited for a minute then began tapping his foot impatiently. Finally he couldnt wait any longer and he said poisonously "Rowan..."
Rowan Pagethorn Looked up and blinked at Akuma, then smiled and put down his quill.
"Akuma how good to see you. Its been to long. How are the jobs coming."
This man always baffled Akuma. No matter how rude or mean to him he was Rowan was alway courteous to him, even friendly.
"Havent had any work in two weeks." He said rather sullenly "Something about my attitude or some s**t like that. Anyway I was wondering if you have any comiisions or some such for me. I need the money" He growled the last and glared at Rowan.
Rowan frowned in concetration then looked at Akuma shrugging.
"I'm afraid I dont have anything Akuma. The shop has been slow of late nad no poetry commisons." He looked at Akuma with apology in his eyes.
Akuma frowned deeply and snarled banging his hand against the wall. "well when you get anything let me know" He said rudley and stalked out the door into the street. He glared at every passerby and they quickly averted their gaze and hurried on.
He thought he might as well go to the market place and see if he could find any jobs. His money was low and if he wanted to eat tonight he needed something. He made is way into the throng of people, who parted for him as if feeling his malevolent intent. He stalked forward not seeing where he was going and suddenly ran straight into a girl, sending her flying to the ground, her walking stick skittering away. He caught his balance before he embarassed himself and turn to yell at the girl, stopping dead as his eyes saw her. A wave of dizziness washed over him as he met her grey eyed gaze and a vision suddenly appeared in his head.
He was on a balcony and smiling radiantly, his whole face alight with emotions he couldnt name or express. a woman came into view, holding a baby in her arms. He looked at the baby and an overwhelming emotion gripped him. He looked up at the woman, but could not see her face, just her long flowing flowing hair. he could not tell what color. He looked back down at the babe and right befor ethe vision ended, noticed the mark of the dragon on his left shoulder blade...
Akuma came back to himself with a crash and quickly masked his expression with anger once more. For the life of him he couldn't speak, just glared at her viciously. suddenly he said "What do you want girl!?" he had no idea why he asked the question, and the minute he had looked at her he had closed down his link to his power, dimming his aura, for unconsciouly he knew this girl could bring about a great change. To whom or what he did not know, but he feared it for some reason.
