Nathan smiled as she basically asked him not to leave. He wouldn't walk away from her. He strode over to her and accepted the holding of hands. What was he doing? This was totally not like him. He slipped his other hand around the small of her back and pulled her close to him. She seemed so tiny all of a sudden. He looked at her for a moment before playfully pulling her bottom lip and nibbling on it slightly. He smiled and let go.

"See I knew you wanted me." He said with a playful smile. He loved getting a rise out of this one. They could continue this at her place but Nathan really didn't feel the desire to move so fast this time. Anubis was small in comparison to his stature and he loved feeling the need to protect her at this very moment. He didn't let go of her back and hand even when he stopped nibbling her lip.

 

[Makulino]

Ignoring Kate’s question, Makulino immediately notices the reaction after mentioning the medallion. “This medallion. You know of it?" He asks her smoothly, hoping she had the answer he was seeking.

Makulino was a smart man. Not easily fooled, especially by a peon. Makulino doesn’t like to insult others intelligence, but doesn’t like to be lied to either. Peoples lives are their own, he knows this better then anyone else, for none of the peons or other people in the world know nothing of him.

“I have reason to believe it was you, because even as an adult know you haven’t changed much from the vision I saw. Every feature you have now you had then. If you don’t want to bring to light what is going or give me some sort of an idea. So be it. But let me tell you know, I will find out one way or another.”

Not trying to be a d**k, but if he knew something was about to go on in his town. He want to make sure himself and everyone else was prepared for it.

“Listen Kate. You work with me here, and I will work with you. If there are somethings you want to leave clouded then that is fine but I need to know what is going on with me. So if you have any sense of integrity, please help me with this.” That was the first time Makulino has ever gone to the length of saying please. Makulino was a very cold and selfish man. But when it came to his safety and the safety of his people, He would stop at no lengths to do what needs to be done.

Anubis smiled softly and nuzzled her face into Nathan's neck gently, smiling. Her body shivered just slightly as Nathan placed his hand on her waist.

"Maybe it wont be so bad..." She murmured gently as a response to his cocky comment. Anubis let herself relax against the panther, not so scared anymore. She smiled more, placing just a gentle kiss on Nathans neck.

"And maybe just a little wanting... Tiny bit..." Anubis joked, knowning very well that both knew the truth. That she was dying to just be near him. Anubis used her free hand to brush away a few spots of dirt that were bothering her before pulling her head away from Nathan and giving him a wicked smile.

"Catch me if you can." Anubis challenged before running off.

Kate would never admit to the medallion belonging to her father. She needed some questions answered before she could completely answer his. Yes she would admit that the flashback or whatever you wanted to call it was here, but she wouldn't share details about it.

"Look." She said plainly. "You want me to answer yours and to completely answer them I need some information about where you got that medallion to confirm what it is I believe I know." She folded her arms in the chair and would wait.

There was more going on in this town than he would be aware of. He had to have known about Craig's death, she was surprised he hadn't asked her about that as well since she was doing her own reconnaisance work about it. Her father would be coming for that artifact once he found the whereabouts of it. And if the residual magic that was left on it created a flashback Roland might be aware of its presence. She couldn't confirm or deny that.

 

[Makulino]

Makulino paused slightly. “Alright Kate. Fair enough.” He said softly. Makulino turned around and walked to the window that he had been peering out of just before Kate Arrived. “Four years ago, in Tempe, Arizona. I was on my way here to Atlanta. I came across a young couple were attacked by what seemed to be a Vampire controlled by some one else. So I intervened to save the couple”
((Flashback)) I was walking down the street late night looking for a hotel to stay the night in when off in the distance I heard a couple of screams echoing through the streets. I pinpointed the direction and moved as fast as I could to aid. On my arrival there was a younger man and woman. Attacking them was a Vampire standing at about 6’2’’ lunging towards them. I ran as fast as I could to the aid of the young couple, unsheathing my Katana just before intercepting the Vampire. The Vampire went to strike the young girl, I moved in, in between the girl and Vampire catching his arm with the sheath of my Katana. I swung my sheath at the Vampire knocking him back a couple feet and switching into my swords stance. Before the Vampire attacked a second and a third appeared from the shadows as if it had multiplied. The three Vampires moved towards me at once at lighting speeds. The third Vampire attacked me as a I slide to the side avoiding its sharp claws, when the second blind sided me and slashed at my back cutting the skin open. I fell to my knees as the second one came for a second hit. Stood up quickly spinning to my left and thrusting my katana down as the Vampire missed it’s second hit decapitating the vampires head. I ran towards the first vampire, seeing the third rushing at me from the side, I quickly did a baseball slide avoiding the vampire trying to tackle me to the ground, I jumped to me feet as quickly as possible and swinging the katana in a side ways motion slicing the third Vampire in half. I slowly walked to top half of the vampire that I had just split in two and removed his head to insure his death. I slowly turned around as I could feel the blood pouring down my back from the first attack, slowly weakening me. The first Vampire and I locked eyes, having a stare down. Just before the Vampire attacked I noticed an ancient medallion around his neck, indicating mastery or slave, I couldn’t figure it out. The Vampire rushed towards me claws in front, fangs pouring out for an instant kill. I slide my left foot three inches to left. As the Vampire drew near I made a quick pivot on my right foot pushing off with my left watching the Vampire scream by just inches from my face. As he passes I swing my Katana upwards slicing it at the neck as I watch his head bounce at my feet. I saw the medallion hit the floor. I picked the medallion up keeping it as a token of victory. ((End Flashback))
“So that is how I obtained this medallion. Ever since I have had I have slowly began to obtain these strange and indescribable powers and effects. For example”
Makulino un-sheathes his Katana closing his eyes, he raises his right arm having his palm across the blade, as he moves his hand across the katana, during this motion the medallion lets out a softly dimmed light from the center of it, the katana then slowly begans to glow a dark red, as the color of blood. Makulino lets out a battle cry and slashes at the chair he had been sitting in slicing it in half and watching it burst into flames from the impact of the blade. He sheaths he katana back at his side.

"Roland." That was all that Kate said for a moment. She knew the name would probably mean nothing to him but it meant everything to her. She hated him with a passion and she barely managed to mutter his name. As if saying it would bring him down upon her and the massacre would begin. She was his blood but would never admit it as she never wanted any connection to the father of the vampires.

She would have to explain this to him without revealing too much personal information. "Well first off," She paused. "The little girl was me and the woman in the memory is my mother." She refused to use past tense and tell him anything about her.

"The medallion you currently possess is Roland's." The man was legendary and if the guild leader had done his study on past legends and histories then he would know of the man. He had been the one who supposedly, although it was true, upset the balance of magic and technology. He hadn't been seen in a very long time, except Kate had seen him of course so she knew and believed of his existence. "He will probably will be coming back for that especially if he's aware that you have it which in all actuality is probably likely." The magic was definitely familiar of Roland's and Kate had to refrain from cringing. "The medallion is infused with Roland's blood which allows it to retain some of his power." She put an emphasis on some as his power was much more than the ability to slice a chair or object or person in half and set them ablaze. She didn't know what else he would want to know but that was the extent of what she was willing to share with him at the moment.

 

[Makulino]

Makulino stopped to think for a second, pacing back and fourth. "Yes I know of this legend. He is very well known where I am from. It is un-believable that I have come across such a rare and powerful artifact.” He looks down at the medallion then back at Kate. “If what you say is true about being his flesh and blood. Which is hard to believe, because as the legend goes, he has slain of his children.” He pauses for a moment seeing she is uncomfortable. “You may go home Kate, if I need any further assistance I will contact you.. Why don’t you get back to the sleep of yours. You look like s**t.” As he lets out a small chuckle followed by a smirk.
Makulino walks past Kate on his way out the door “Thank you for your time” and he continues outside.

Kate would leave his office after he did. Her day had just started after all. She would head out of the Mercenary Guild and into her beat up truck that ran during the magic waves.

Kate hopped in and used the step to climb in. It wasn't a big truck but she was being lazy. She wanted to know who was piloting the vampire, she had a feeling Roland had something to do with this somehow but she wasn't sure. Kate turned on the truck and it acted like it didn't want to start then clunked to life. She put it in reverse and left the guild to head back to the city morgue. Hopefully they would let her have the vampire head. The sticker from the order on her identifcation card should permit it.

“Wake up, she’s on the move.” David said as he back handed his assistant in the driver seat. David was ‘too old’ to learn how to drive, he’d learned that he could get faster, or it usually could wait. In older times it would have been a carriage, and before that a covered chair carried by servants. In this age though, when one absolutely needed a way to get around at daytime, you needed a car.

Luckily, Roger had a tank of a car that you didn’t feel too much like you were in a prison cell if you needed to be in it for the 10 or so hours of daylight. After the magic had come back they had to quickly switch the fuel lines so it ran on magic instead of technology, so when the beast now roared into life on command David was somewhat relieved. It would suck hard if he had to wait for Roger to switch the lines back, they’d lose their target.

David sat up and kept his eyes on Kate’s truck. They followed from a distance once again, although David doubted if Kate had the instincts to realize she was being followed all day. Soon though, David realized she was heading back to the morgue, and if he had a heart it would have almost skipped a beat. ‘She doesn’t know anything. There’s nothing to know.’ He chanted to himself as they pulled into the morgue parking lot.

She would arrive at the morgue in about 15 minutes. Yes Atlanta was huge but it was never busy in the city it seemed like anymore. Plus she could typically drive pretty fast as cops were few and far between.

She stepped out of the truck and slammed the door again. She would flash her badge to the receptionist. They usually preserved bodies even vampire ones pretty well. So the head of the decaptitated vampire should still be perfect as it was at the time of death. David was right that Kate didn't realize that she was being following, she would end up blaming it on her lack of sleep if she found out.

She headed back to the morgue to grab the head of the vampire. That was all she was really after. The magic part of it to figure out what it had seen last would have to take place at home.

David quickly rushed out of the car with a thick blanket covering his body to protect him from the last few rays of sunshine that still refused to go away, and followed Kate into the building. Once inside and away from the big windows of the entrance, (Really? This is a morgue. Humans.) he folded up the magic blanket down to about credit card size and slipped it into his pocket.

Watching Kate flash a badge of some kind at the receptionist, David smiled as he got closer to the desk. He knew the receptionist. He knew her very well. As she smiled back and nodded for him to pass his smile got bigger, he knew that lying with her was a great idea.

David continued to quietly follow Kate to the back of the building, where the dead comrade and human were still on the examination tables. Was she visiting her acquaintance again? She didn’t have any business with his vampire; at least, she shouldn’t anyways.

Kate didn't realize that someone was behind her until after she passed the door into the morgue. Something was off and the sword on her back started glowing silver. She would unsheathe it after passing through the doors and threaten whoever walked through would have a blade leveled at their throat. She was just after a dead vampire head, I mean whats the problem?

As Kate walked into the room David let the doors stop their perpetual motion of swinging back and forth so she wouldn’t think anybody was following her. When they stopped he peered through the square windows, she wasn’t seen from where he stood. He quickly went to the other side of the doors to see if she was on the opposite of the room. She still wasn’t seen.

Maybe she went into a different room; there were tons of humans at the morgue. That was enough of an excuse as any to convince him that he needed to do something now. He stuck out his chest and threw back his shoulders and pushed the doors open. He would have to take the vampire before she really found out what it could contain.

Kate would let him come into the room as she was standing to the left of the double doors. She would raise Saber to his throat very very quickly. She wasn't trying to attack but she wanted to know why she was being followed and who it was. The comfort with her blade in hand was automatic.

She looked from the hilt of her sword to the tip and would see David's face. "David?" She asked with a smart a** tone. She was pissed to see him here.

As a sword appeared to his throat David almost instinctively would have reached the length of it and grab the person on the other side. He just stood there, as he wanted information from her, not to kill her. Kate though, looked thoroughly shocked to see him there.

He pretended to be shocked as well. “Kate?” He said. “If you wanted a second date you could have just called, darling. Surely a movie would be better suitable than the morgue.” He gently and slowly lifted his hand and pushed the sword away from his neck. He took a moment to look at her.

Her eyes had bags under them and they were a little red and watery from fatigue. Any human who stays up for more than 18 hours looks like that though. Her eyes seemed to be tired from more than just fatigue, like she just found out her puppy had died.

He didn’t know if she still hated him, or if she was too tired to hate him, if she had completely forgotten that he had feigned interest in this, or if she knew and then consequently found out too much. Either way, a good vague question was a start. “What’s the matter, Kate? You look like s**t.” He said.
