Arietta walked from her cave and along the beach up to the market. As she walked on the beach, she combed her hair and put it in a neat bun. She held her hands in front of her skirt. Her purple skirt floated in the wind as she walked. A few of the people she passed gazed at her blood red hair. Arietta looked at the booths as she walked by each one. The sack of moneys rattled every time she took a step. After passing many booths, she found on selling fruit of all sorts. Arietta picked out a few apples and a bundle of grapes. The merchant saw she had no basket and offered on for her. Arietta handed the man the money and grabbed the basket with fruit and continued to walk. She carried the basket on her arm. As she walked, she grabbed an apple and bit into it. A few strands of her hair fell from there place and danced in the wind.

Bored as hell Arietta began to walk back to her cave. Her bare feet hit the pavement silently as she strolled through the thick crowd of the market. Her arm carried her basket close to her arm not letting anyone get close to her. Her jade green eyes darted from every face to the next as she took in everyone to make sure she has not seen her before. When she got close to the pier, where fisherman hustled about on the daily chores, Arietta began to sing her favorite song. All of the fisherman froze what they were doing and looked towards the water then over at the red haired lady. Arietta looked over at them and smiled innocently and waved towards the fishermen. Arietta came to a sudden stop when she slammed right into someone. She turned around to apologize but stopped when she saw a fairly large fishermen was staring down at her. Her song slowly began to die to her humming then she just quit. The man said is a very deep husky voice "Excuse me miss. But where did you here that song. You can call them you know with that song. Every time when hear and erie voice like your they come and sick our ships and kill our men. Except that song is very different the one that I have seen lure men out to the cove." Arietta tilted her head at the man. His long shaggy brown hair hung plastered to his forehead with sweat. Her eyes trailed down his face until it stopped on a scar that ran sideways down his throat. Arietta said "Are you possibly hinting that there are mermaid in those waters?"Arietta began to laugh and said between laughing "That is completely silly. Everyone knows that is just a myth. You probably just bumped your head on a rock when your ship sunk and all of your men died except for you. I am pretty sure no mermaid would slit your throat with a dagger and you still be alive." Arietta began to walk again and she began from the very beginning of her song. The fishermen just stood there unable to comprehend how Arietta knew so much of his crash. Arietta remembered that crash vividly. That was her first attack on a ship of course that guy was a lot younger then. Arietta slipped up for just a second and did not slit his throat just perfectly and he got away. Arietta thought he certainly died but she guessed not now. When Arietta slipped back into her cave, she set her basket down on a rock and stripped down to nothing. She let her hair fall from her bun and covered her bare chest. She dove into the cool water of the ocean. Her legs began to morph into one and her feet became flat and wider. Scales grew down her leg and feet. She took a gasp of the salt water and "breathed" all it right back out. Arietta swimmed up to the ground and grabbed her purple bikini top and put it on. She swam down to the bottom of the cave and squeezed through the hole spraying up sand into the water as she wiggled through. Arietta swam off back into the depth of the ocean.
