Shade shook her head. "Thank you for the offer, but I think it would be best if we kept this meeting between us. I have had dealings with the wolf-kin in the past. Their spirits do not take well to my presence. I am afraid that we must part ways."

"If you would like, I could give you a means to speak with me whenever you would like. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I could be there as quickly as you can scrawl a rune and chant."

Veran sighed. A simple apology wasn't going to cut it...not after that. He thought maybe if she swallowed her pride and apologized maybe it would have, but after he heard it..it just didn't click with him. "Sorry, but it doesn't sound good enough. Right now..I don't care about who wants you or how much you're worth. That's just a bonus. Right now, I'm going to try and beat some manners into your skull...cause I think you need some."

His other sword slowly drew from it's hilt, letting loose a whistle as it did so. She might not have been able to see, but there were glowing runes on both sides of the blade. This was his ace in the hole when it came to fighting and each time he drew it against an opponent, he never lost the fight. He didn't rush her this time, but slowly started to advance upon her.

"Really?! You really want to fight over an apology? If anything you're the one that should be learning manners. Like learning to mind your own business and that certain questions should not be asked. You men are all alike it's all about your ego." Trinity dropped through her shadow and her sillouette appeared in the distance. She waited for him to go after it, hiding within the shadows.

Once he gave chace, she returned to Nova in the cave. "How're you doing Nova?" She asked the old man coughing. "Sorry that took so long. The man really just wanted a fight. Didn't matter what kind of apology I gave him he wanted to start a fight anyway." She shook her head folded her arms and said, "Men!"

Nova had just wiped the blood off of his chin. He needed to get to that Well. He could only hope that it was still pure. After that....she would on her own. Perhaps it was for the best to send those kids away.They would drag her down eventually. Plus....someone like Kerana didn't have to watch him dying. Nova wasn't sure if she could take it despite her recent anger against him.

"Let's go." He managed to get up with some effort. Normally he'd make a comment about him being a guy as well but he refrained from such actions.

Kerana

Kerana nodded quickly, "Yes I would like a way speak with you. How do I call upon you Shade?" Her tail wagged quickly with anticipation.

Shade moved her hand in a gesture to direct Kerana's attention to the wall beside her. The shadows bent once more to show a fairly simple rune with six points and a few familiar symbols.

"Draw this rune in a shadow. It matters not how large you make it. Next, simply say "I," state your name, and say:"

"call upon the daughter of shadows to appear before me."

"Do you think you can remember that?"

Shade watched as Kerana ran off to rejoin her guardian.

"Such a sweet girl." she whispered.

Her eyes then changed from the soft silver to a disgusting, jaundiced yellow. A mouth of razor sharp teeth punctuated a malicious grin that broke the shadows.

"A real shame that her heart will be devoured after being broken." she cackled internally before sinking into the shadows from whence she came.

Alec popped his head around the corner as soon as he heard the door to the restroom open. There were a few moments where he swore he could hear what sounded like conversation coming from in there. Yet, whenever he tried to get a better listen, everything went silent.

His concerns were dismissed when she came out in a seemingly better mood.

He approached her cautiously and asked, "Are you okay? Are you feeling a little better?"

Kerana

Kerana found Alec and he posed his question. But kept a friendly distance, "Yeah, sure am! Let's go find Trinity and Nova!" Just then Trinity's shadow ran by them. "Well that was easy but where's Nova?" Then she saw someone else chasing her. "Don't worry Trinity! I got you covered." Kerana started forming a fire ball.

Veran had chased this girl for what seemed like a hundred miles. Still, there was something off about her. Even with his enhanced speed whenever he closed the gap on her she seemed to get faster and keep ahead of him. Was he chasing an illusion or something? No-one he knew of could ever keep up with his speed and even those that could would get tired out before this.

Even he was starting to feel the drain. Holding both blades in his hands and chasing, speeding up and slowing down was hard. Still, as he watched her pass by a couple people he noticed that it was the girl and her bird summoning protector. Seems luck is on my side. Well..maybe luck..but maybe something else as well.

His runed blade hummed with excitement. He was no longer focused on the rude girl. Right now he had his second shot at the wolf and the one he protected. Live or die he was going to have his fun.

Alec instantly recognized the man that was running at them. This time, though, he got a sense of the man's intent. He also felt something strange surrounding the rogue. It made his fur stand on edge.

He quickly looked back at the dilapidated restaurant and saw that it had two levels. Two levels meant stairs. Stairs meant high ground. and high ground was always a good thing to have against someone wielding a sword.

He took called out to Kerana, knowing that if he just snatched her up there was a chance of getting burned.

"We need to get back inside and take the high ground!"

Veran barely dodged the flames directed at him, although they singed his cloak and he snarled. He loved these clothes and now they were utterly ruined. First the damn birds and now the fire too? Those two are gonna pay dearly! As he sprinted closer he was suddenly assaulted by a harsh light just after he heard they were going to higher ground.

If they get a height advantage on me, it'll make it harder for me to get a hit. These two are smart. The light got him, but only barely. Right as he saw the beginning flash, he covered his eyes to protect his sight. He still saw spots but it was nowhere as bad as it could have been. He had no choice. He was going to have to wait until the light faded in order to continue the attack...even if it put him at a disadvantage.

Alec led Kerana up the stairs. He was frustrated to see that the entire building was made of wood. This made Kerana using fire difficult. But maybe...

"Kerana, do you know any water or ice magic? Maybe we can makes these stairs more trouble than they're worth?"
