Bungie said they would send Halo out with a bang, and with Reach I think they did a pretty damn good job. I beat the game in one night with a friend of mine and the story was pretty bad a**, focusing on a small group of 6 Spartans, called Noble Team. It takes place within about a three month time period from when the Covenant first start attacking Reach, to the inevitable fall of Reach. Noble Team is assigned the role of stopping the Covenant at all costs. If you are wondering, "Hey, where are the key figures of Halo?" Well, close to the end of the game Noble 6 (Your Character) is given the task of bringing a "very important AI to a Ship docked on Reach" That AI is obviously Cortana, you can see just by looking at her though you don't hear her speak until the very end. The other is Captain Keys, and the Pillar of Autumn. Master Chief is not in the game, and for a good reason. According to the actual storyline, and since Reach takes place within 3 months, He is off planet with the other Spartans fighting the covenant, and only comes to Reach for the final battle, so at the end he is on the Pillar of Autumn. The game ends where Halo: Combat Evolved begins, with the Pillar of Autumn narrowly escaping the Covenant and appearing near Halo. After that, Noble 6 being the only Surviving member of Noble Team, Fights through waves and waves of Covenant, until he eventually dies.
The Multilayer is way better then any Halo game in the past, especially the new and improved Forge World, where you get to create you own map. It can be very fun messing around with friends while creating one mega base, or everyone making their own bases. There is also Firefight, where you are on a team with two other people, and you fight waves of Covenant until you defeat all the enemies or die. Another fun thing new to Halo is the Invasion mode, where you play as either Spartans or Elites, if you are Elites you have to retrieve an object from the Spartans base, if you are Spartans you have to protect that object from the invading Elites. Halo: Reach is hands down the best Halo game I have played, and I think FPS games are going to have an extremely high bar to surpass, because Bungie took the genre to a whole other level with this game.
