Gah. Sometime when I was 12 or so, I took up listening to some alternative music my brother had. And through his fantasymetal I learned of "gothic" metal, and then came the Sisters of Mercy, Diva Destruction, Inkubus Sukkubus, Current 93, Siouxsie, some cyber crap... It was fairly eclectic. I'm just lucky to have grown up with an internet connection, I had no relatives or friends with similar interests, although I did find some pearls through 80's compilations of my parents. And I've been going to Goth/oldschool parties since I was 13, it quite much helped me develop my taste in music.
