I got into goth even before I knew what I was. My friend Zack told me what I was.
I always loved Evanescence and Nightwish and it was those bands that introduce me to other goth bands *to many to name =_=* and I dont only listen to goth but punk and heavy metal as well^^

I'm from the Pacific Northwest. (Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington Area)

Well for me goth wasn't a conscious decision. I had always been the dark, creepy girl and it didn't help that I stood out because I was like the only black chick. What drew me to Goth was the way they portrayed themselves. I found goths to be highly intelligent, social people who I actually fit in with.

My favorite bands are Dark Sanctuary, Desmora, and Inkkubus Succubus

Myrthe here, hailing from Arnhem, The Netherlands.
I grew up without barely any music, but with a passion nonetheless, and started researching lots and lots of music in my early teens. Most stuff I found out by myself via the intarwebs, but I've been going to goth parties since a very early age, and learned a lot there, too.
Nowadays my musical preferences are mostly about deathrock, horrorpunk, psychobilly, postpunk, oldschool punk, rockabilly, folk, cabaret, klezmer, garage, electrofizzle, neue deautsche welle, oldschool industrial & noise... Pretty much everything that's a party, genius, and/or tongue-in-cheek.
Some of my favourite bands amongst Wave/Deathrock/Influences/You know, stuff:
Virgin Prunes, The Gun Club, The Damned, Ausgang, Lene Lovich, Tchiki Boum, Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend, 45 Grave, Adam and the Ants, Asmodi Bizarr, The Au Pairs, Gang of Four, Bizarre Leidenschaft, Bloodsucking Zombies From Outer Space, and pretty much everything you see onstage at Drop Dead Festival.

Thé biggest favourites, however, are The World/Inferno Friendship Society and Nina Hagen.

Hello, my name is Danielle. I'm from Texas. I found out about deathrock years back when I got into goth music. I was never a fan of the modern music on the radio. I would only listen to my mothers 80s cassette tapes, my dads oldies and classic rock, or my older sisters music. She let me have a CD with a variety of goth bands and another with industrial bands. I researched more into these genres and ended up finding some of my favorite bands. I'm not all about goth, deathrock, etc. But my favorite bands from this genre would have to be Specimen, 45 Grave, Christian Death, and Cinema Strange. And, my top favorite bands over all are Oingo Boingo, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Joy Division.

I'm from all over - Seattle, Denver, Phoenix...
I found out about deathrock accidentally through two books unrelated to music.
My favorite DR band of all time will always be Christian Death. I fell in love with Rozz as an artist/poet before I even heard him sing. Current favorite DR band is Skeletal Family. From years of being broke or homeless I have a lot of catching up to do as far as music. I see this thread hasn't been posted in for years. There are of course many new bands that are only traditional in vein, but have become their own musically. I actually love the synth-centric DR that some consider trash. To each their own.

Hallo. The name's Steph. I am from Chicago. Ever since I was a little kid, I was into bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode. It wasn't until I reached my teenage years that I really stumbled into the goth scene. I was a regular at the local band shows and tried to support the music scene as best I could.
As of right now, I've been listening to a lot of The Gun Club, This Mortal Coil, and Scarlet's Remains.

My new favorite band I came across recently is Secular Plague. Some would describe them as "Hardcore Deathrock", but no matter what genre they would be described as, they still kick a**.
