Halflings

[The McWrapped D]

It was raining and a slight rumbling could be heard in the distance. "Damn it. It's going to storm," muttered Aliera.

"No cussing!!" Yelled Arania as she skipped ahead. They were trying to get to their house before the big storm hit.

Aliera stuck out her tongue. "I will cuss if I want to." She smiled as she ran ahead. She had always been a lot more athletic than Arania. The rain came down harder until they couldn't see a foot ahead. Aliera hooked her arm around Arania's and pulled her to the rocks. There was a cave and she pushed Arania in. They huddled together and fell asleep.



It was morning and the sun was peeking into the cave. Arania opened her eyes and yawned. She shook Aliera awake. "Wake up. It's morning."

"What's wrong Hector? Your not afraid of a little rain are you? Wait don't you control water?." Roy asked quietly laughing.

They were in the woods hunting to food so they could feed there families.
The market wouldn't sell to Roy or his parents so they had to hunt.
Hector wont shop there anymore and calls them a disgrace.

"When we are hiding in trees and there's LIGHTNING" Hector snapped.

"Shh you'll scare the deer away." Roy shushed him and readied his bow.

Before he could shoot an arrow came from Hector's bow and killed the deer.

"Now can we go?" Hector asked.

"Show off." laughed Roy. Roy hopped down and grabbed the deer.
"Yes we can go home." Roy said in a mocking voice.

The rain had stopped. It was still early and the birds were just waking up. A faint sliver of pink from the rising sun could be seen on the horizon right above the trees.

"Aliera. Wake up."

Roy turned into a giant wolf and Hector through the deer on his back.

"Alright lets go." hector said walking beside Roy. the rain had stopped, they were both out all night.

Roy started sniffing the air and barked.

"What is it boy? Did Tim fall down the well again?" Hector laughed. Roy growled at him.

Roy started leading him deeper into the forest to find two girls outside of a cave. Roy knocked the deer off of him and turned back to normal.

"Who are you" he said in a emotionless voice. Hector just stood there.

Aliera pushed Arania behind her. They had to be cautious with who they talked to. Ever since their father found out who they were and sent assassins after them they had to be careful. They lived a mile down in a little cottage. "Why do you want to know?" Their mother had been killed protecting them. They had no one except each other.

Roy sniffed the air. They didn't smell familiar, so they weren't from around here... he couldn't tell what they were either.

"Because your not from around here... your not elves either... what are you?" Roy asked.

Hector stared in shock as Roy asked.

"We mean you no harm. I know my friend comes off harsh, but that is just him." Hector said with kindness in his voice.
"My name is Hector and this is Roy, We live in Decoy a few miles away."

Arania looked at them. "I'm Arania and this is my sister Aliera. We just moved here because..." She stopped in mid sentence as her sister elbowed her in the ribs. Tears sprung to her eyes as she remembered what happened. It wasn't their fault that they weren't even supposed to exist.

"Are you OK?" Hector asked.

Roy didn't feel right something was off about them.

"You didn't answer. What are you?" Roy asked.

Hector elbowed him "Behave Roy."

Meanwhile not far away Starbreeze and Ulric were exploring the woods. Starbreeze kept running and laughing. Ulric just trugged along behind her. "Where are we going?"
"You'll see..."
She stopped and hid behind a tree when she saw the group. She eyed the twins suspiciously. "Who are THEY?"

Aliera felt cornered and nodded. "Yeah we are okay." She didn't like this feeling. It brought bad memories back. "We're just two girls. That's all. We are allowed to be here. Aren't we?"  

[Sings_to_the_moon]

"Ulric? Do you think they'll fight???"
Ulric rolled his eyes "Doubt it."

before hector could answer Roy sniffed the air and turned with his sword drawn.
"Who dares spy on us?" Roy asked really mad now.

Ulric shot Starbreeze a look. "Damn it star, your gonna get us in trouble."

"SHOW YOUR SELF!!" Roy yelled
Hector had his bow ready and stood in front of the girls.
