But I swear the next person to tell me, Shintos ward their shrines against foreigners, or that the Celtic Gods wouldn't like me worshipping them, I'm going to scream. =.=

Well, I don't know about Shinto, but the Celtic gods did make the oath not to accept a non-celt as their follower. They might not have anything against you, actually they might even like you for all we know, but... If they accept your worship, they become oathbreakers. I guess that wouldn't put them in a nice position in the eyes of their people. At least I would never serve an oathbreaker, no matter what. The Celtic gods are bound by their oaths.

Yeah, but what's a Celt nowadays? Do you have to be Welsh or Irish or can you have just a smidge of it in your bloodline? And what about the idea of reincarnation? Can you spiritually be a Celt? No path or pantheon is simple. there are a lot of questions to be dealt with, often on an individual basis. People have to come to terms with thier own Gads and beliefs.

Celtic culture is a living one. The Celts exist - if you are practicing their culture, you are a Celt. Being Irish doesn't mean you are one, but being part of the culture does. I don't know too much about the details, though, you should ask CuAnnan if you want to know more. If I remember correctly, he's a Gael himself, so he knows a great deal of these things.

Exactly. I personally agree with that but the point I'm trying to make is that there are many ways defanitions here and I know several people who would argue the matter.

I have talked with him and many others that do make the Celtic culture is closed off claim. However none of them have provided sources to back up this claim. neutral Which leads me to speculate if this is true or not.

It's mentioned somewhere in the myths, but I'm not too sure where. I believe that CuAnnan once posted the exact part where the oaths are presented, because I remember seeing it. But if it wasn't him, I don't know where I saw that part. I just know I've seen it somewhere. (Hmm, I need to try and see if I can find it myself now... confused )

EDIT: Damn, can't seem to find it. I read quickly through the Annals and everything I could find from the sacred-texts.com, but still nothing. Either I missed it or the Internet has failed me once again...

Or the whole mumbo jumbo about the Gods being oathbound is merely that, mumbo jumbo.

Might be, but if that's the case, I don't understand where I saw the oaths then. Curses upon me for not taking notes when it happened.

But I do admit that everything is possible, and I may just think I remember seeing the oaths even if I didn't. This thing needs more digging...

Aye it does. I'm going to ask my friend who is more experienced with Wicca and paganism later about this. He would know. :3 So I'll let you know what my finding is. :3

I talked to my other friend and she said you can be oathbound to a coven that worships the Gods and Goddesses of that pantheon, however the gods and goddesses aren't oathbound.

Im not sure what you would call me because I mix my religion with christianity, wiccan, and old native american beliefs. with a few tid bits here and there. Im in a group of four and we are ALWAYS fighting. so sometimes I think of myself as a loner within this range.

For the most part, I dont like labels, but "Witch" sounds good to me.

(btw, this is my FIRST post in this guild since my introduction sweatdrop gonk )

Well glad to have you here then

'Eclectic' sounds like a good term to use to me.

That's what I call myself, eclectic solitary witch. I'm anything I choose to be, but I don't work with others unless it's my best friend, another eclectic solitary.

I normally just say I'm a Draconic Practitioner to avoid normal stereotypes and assumptions if I were to say the true label of the path, Draconic Magician (ok how many of you thought DnD?)

I am very eclectic in my practice. So I guess I'd be an eclectic witch. Not so much solitary anymore, since my husband is too. ^^

hey sorry i haven't posted in a while.
If i may ask a little question for those who say they are wiccan, and I really mean no offense, but I can see the other side of the argument too, Why does the system of beliefs, necessitate the title Wiccan? I think the mistake that the people who say you're not Wiccan is, is that they make it sound like their saying "your not the real thing" or that your beliefs do not belong to you, just that they don't fall under the category, of what is actually called "Wiccan" At any rate, I'm not trying to say you're not any thing, I'm just presenting arguments in a different way to see how you feel about it. Please forgive me if i came out offensive.
