How should the battle system be done?

Hi everyone, as the shop is slowly getting back up to its feet, we are looking into how to improve this place. One of the things that's dragging plots and growths down is the battle system. We've done several revamps to it, but it seems that you guys are always intimidated or confused by them. I'm setting up a poll here to see what your thoughts are on this. If you have voted, please take some time to comment here and let us know your thoughts. If you have any other suggestions, we'd also love to hear them.

1. a detailed system based on dice and stats:

-something like what we have right now. Each character will come with a set of stats that can be increased as they progress in their stages. Skills also have special effects that will affect the battle outcome.

2. a simple system based on dice alone.

- we will be moderating this system, and roll a dice in the first post to determine who wins the battle.

3. just get rid of it.

- no dice, no nothing. encounter with demons will be like RPing with a NPC. There will be no "training battles" as well.

4. other.

- please comment and make a suggestion on what your thoughts are if you chose this option!

I like the idea of a Battle System, but I don't think they should be mandatory in order for a Dust to grow. I think it should be an optional thing, or something that participating in may garner something extra for the owners of the Dusts.

As far as the stats and skills are concerned, I've always been fond of a points system.

Back when Vale of Earth was around, they had a points system in place where doing various activities gained you points that could be used to up your stats and earn a wider variety of skills.

The thread explaining the points system is still in the guild and thankfully the guild itself is viewable to anyone, so you can see it: Here.

We could have a set series of skills that all Dusts could potentially acquire, and points could be used to also gain personalized skills specific to that Dust.

It was pretty easy to gain points too. I got most of mine just hanging out in the thread.

After LoL I can wholeheartedly say that I hate battle required systems/rp. I agree with Olivia on it being optional and something that can earn extra stuff. xD

I voted for the dice roll since that'd be the easiest, but after looking at that link, earning points sounds kind of fun as long as it'd be in like a non stressful way. Lol. /useless comments otl

I think it would be cool to have one, but have it as something separate that doesn't influence the general RP. I like the idea of stats, so those who want a more complex system can have one, but those who don't want one don't really get affected either.

Or maybe have RP being able to contribute to stats too? So those who don't want to battle can also get stats? (If the system will be important for any future metas, etc.)

I LOVE BATTLES! 8D

Like seriously love love love. Though fun is drained when things are too complicated. So I saw maybe have a simple dice system, let people have some fun. Will/ow with his/her personality would so get into a lot of fights so yes to me a battle system would be wicked.

However I do understand that others do not share my love alas. So maybe to make them required would be popular even though I love them ;D so maybe let people like me fight and the ones who do not like it be able to choose not to.

BUT STILL MAKE IT HAPPEN 8D

I can not be the only one SRSLY? - extra's for battling would be awesome it is a incentive with out effecting your dust's growth which would be cool.

I'm pretty much in agreement, I think it either should be dropped or be an extra thing that isn't required by all. It shouldn't be complex (I thought the last system that was worked out was fairly simple and easy to understand, if only a little tricky if you're bad at math like me [lol I messed up so many times I'm so sorry Toa] but other people did not find it as easy?) and I like the idea of it getting you extra stuff. Therefore, it's available and it's only your choice whether you want to do it or not as well as whether you want the extra stuff or not and it doesn't affect the main plotline or what have you.

I think most people are mature enough to be able to battle ICly without a system but if it became a problem and people were fighting over who should win or "Oh, my Dust wouldn't get damaged!" then we would have to make it a necessary system for everybody.
